“ Brand: Next / Type: Floor Lamp „
For a few years now I have had simple floor lamps which were about £10 out of ASDA and they have been working a treat but when the bulb went and I discovered that I could not get a replacement bulb (type of bulb discontinued) then I had to search for a new lamp (only required one this time for behind my pc due to furniture moves) and so decided to check out Next and their range but was the Francesca floor lamp I purchased a great find? Pros: This is a very stylish floor lamp which goes very nicely in my living room (my living room is a mix of creams, browns and glass furniture) as it is a brushed copper finish which allows it to not stand out too much but yet be a very nice piece to have in your room. The floor lamp has matching pieces available with a table lamp and a wall light both able to be purchased to ensure all matches in. The lamp was easy to assemble as you simply screw the pieces together (no need foor tools). The wire runs up the centre of the lamp meaning it can't be seen which I like and this also means it is less likely to become damaged as it is protected by the metal outer casing of the lamp itself. The lamp comes with a dimmer switch which you simply place on the floor and alter by moving the slider to the desired level of light. This is handy as the light on its brightest is very bright. The lamp uses 3 tiny light bulbs which are 20W G4 halogen ones and you can purchase a replacement bulb pack from Next for £4 for 10 bulbs which is very good value. The floor lamp has good dimensions to it as it stands 172cm tall and 48cm in diameter. This means it will fit into a corner well and remain compact but stand tall enough that the light will be coming from the height you need. Negatives: The lamp is fairly expensive at £65 but this is a well designed piece that you can appreciate in any room so if you are willing to pay out for a piece to last then this is not something to worry about. The lamp uses 3 20W bulbs and so is not highly energy efficient meaning it will cost you more to run than other lamps out there which is something to take in to consideration as with fuel prices increasing you need to consider if this will put you off using this lamp and if it will then is it worth spending £65 on. Overall I have been very impressed with this floor lamp and don't begrudge £65 for it. The look and feel of the lamp both point to the quality of the product and the dimmer switch is an added bonus for me. A great source of light which you can have on instead of a main light and without needing to wait for the bulbs to heat up this is a very nice piece of furniture to add in to any room.
