“ Brand: WHSmiths / Type: Drawers „
My mum came back from WH Smith with one of these for me as I have a slight obsession with organising things into boxes and draws. The only difference is mine has a pattern of cupcakes on instead of this pink and black swirly pattern. The draws cost my mum £10 but I think they are usually sold for £15. I think this is a fair price as the draws are very well made and creatively decorated. The box measures at 23h x 34w x 24d, it easily sits on any desk or table area and looks really fun too. The draw has 6 draws, three small ones on top, 2 larger in the middle and one large one on the bottom. Each draw 'handle' is a thick bit of soft ribbon which is easy to use. These draws can be used for a number or uses, such as stationery, make up or jewelry but I use mine as an arts and craft box. The top draws are perfect for pens and pencils or glitter glue tubes. The next two draws I use one for types of glue like different sized glue sticks, double sided stickers and my glue gun and spare glue sticks for this. The other draw I use to hold pots of glitter which I have quite a few of. These middle draws are quite deep and could fit numerous items in. The bottom draw is the full size of the drawers and I use it for A4 bits of decorative card or magazine cuttings that I find interesting. These draws fit perfectly in my room as I own a few other cupcake themed items but are probably aimed at a younger target market. The draws featured in the picture I'm sure would be great for girly teenagers or stylish mums and would fit with décor that is very popular at the moment. I really like my drawsw and find them easy to use. They are made of a very, very sturdy cardboard and are covered in the patterned paper very well. I have no worry of it breaking but I suggest not putting weighty items on top, as this can make the top droop a tiny bit and the bottom draw can poke out a little bit. I did this and as soon I noticed I took the item off the top and draw was okay. I am a bit of a neat freak and have kept my draws looking almost brand new with not too much care needed. If I were not using these draws for craft items I would definitely use it for storing make up as the top draws would be great for brushes, lipsticks or eyeliners and mascaras. The middle draw perfect for foundations and pots of makeup and then the bottom draw for powders, compacts and palettes! The draws are definitely worth £15 for the space and quality that is offered, I would much prefer using this over plastic or wooden draws as plastic can sometimes look cheap and wooden ones are expensive and leave a woody smell over things. Mum bought me mine at £10 but I have often seen them on sale even cheaper in WHSmith at end of season sales.
I have owned one of these W H Smiths storage boxes for a few years now. I bought a load of boxes from them ages ago when I was reorganising my room and this was one of the selection. Initially I used it to store my jewellery but have since started using it for all my make up. I think it is designed as a stationary storage but obviously there are a wide range of uses for this type of device. The box has three tiers of shelving, the first shelf is slightly shorter than the other two which are equal in height. Each shelf is split into a different number of drawers, the first and smallest being three and the second being two and the third being one big drawer. This means that you have three small drawers which are great for storing all your little bits and bobs. The second shelf has two medium sized drawers which are really handy for slightly larger objects and then the third is great for storing larger flat objects. The base of the bottom drawer is the size of an A4 piece of paper and if you want to store stationary this is probably the best use for this drawer. The two medium sized drawers are half the size of the large one but the size of them makes them good for storing items like pencil sharpeners etc. that are slightly more bulky. The top drawers are small but because of the depth of the unit they are good for storing pencils and pens. I don't personally use it for stationary but it would definitely make a great stationary unit if this is what you needed it for. I personally use mine for my make up at the moment. In the bottom drawer I store my powders/foundations and generally all face products, the size of this drawer is great and because it is so shallow things aren't piled up and therefore are easy to find. The second two drawers are used for eye products, one for eye shadows and the other for mascaras. This again works well as these are slightly bulkier products but because these draws are a little larger you can still see everything in them without having to sort through it. I use the top three drawers for eye liners, lip products and then make up accessories like sharpeners and eye lash curlers. This really is the perfect storage unit for my make up, as all other ones I have used have been too small and cluttered. I can easily see everything in this one and this makes applying my make up a hassle free task. The unit I own is a turquoise colour all over, with a flower design on the front of the drawers and on the side, this is in silver and bright pink. The colours look really good together and go well with the design of my room. They also have really lovely touches like the handles for the drawers being made out of ribbon, this adds a really sweet feminine touch to the box which steps up the style factor a notch or two. I also think most of the designs available for these storage units are bright, colourful and pretty versatile for most rooms. There is a union jack floral design selling at the moment that I have my eye on... My only slight reservation is that if you don't have loads of storage space this can be a little bulky to put away in a cupboard, I tend to leave my in front of my mirror on the floor because I use it almost everyday. Luckily when I need my room to look presentable I do have a cupboard in which it can fit, but if you lack the space this might be a little annoying. The price of these boxes vary and they are often in the sale so it is worth looking out for cheap offers. I think I paid £10 for mine when I bought it, though I believe they retail at £14.99. This is a pretty reasonable price for the best make up storage box I've ever have and for something that really takes the hassle out of storing my make up. I have owned mine for two years and it isn't yet in need of replacement which makes me one happy customer. This is definitely something I'll buy again in the future.
I was wandering through WHSmiths the other day and stopped to look at this box (see image). I loved it purely because of the hot pink colour and the pretty black leaf design on it. I assume it is made and sold in WHSmiths because it is for storing stationary products, however I have found a great use for it. Instead of stationary, I find it a very convenient place to store my makeup and beauty items. The box itself is 23h x 34w x 24d, which is a medium size and sits nicely on top of a table in my room. It consists of six different drawers which go quite far back, meaning a lot of things can be stored within. There are three smaller drawers at the top and within these I store my eye products (mascaras, eye pencils, liquid eyeliner pens) in the far left, my lipsticks in the middle, and then lipglosses in the far right. Underneath these, there are two medium sized drawers and on the left I store all my face products such as blushers and foundations, and on the far right I store eyeshadows and palettes. Underneath these is one large drawer. I call this the miscellaneous drawer as I throw in things such as face wipes, nail varnishes, samples etc... This is just to indicate the amount of room within these drawers, and coming from somebody with a large makeup collection, it shows that lots can fit within this. This box could have many other uses and could store various other things such as stationary, jewellery and further goods which are smaller in size. The price of this box of drawers retails at £14.99 and is available in WHSmiths stores or online at www.whsmith.co.uk. If you like this box you should get out and purchase it now as it is currently half price and only £7.49 which is a bargain! If you like the drawers but aren't keen on the style, I have seen a blue and silver version, and also one with cupcakes on which is very cute! The durability of this box is great and it has lasted me around six months so far and has shown no signs of breaking. The drawers slide in and out with ease and I have had no problems what so ever. I really think this is an excellent storage product, and just what I was after to store my make up in. Little did I know that WHSmiths could hold such gems as this. 5/5 - Thanks for reading!
