Switch on this beast from Technics and you will not be disappointed! As soon as you open the box and remove the elegant silver componenets you will know you have bought the best. The first thing you notice is how easy it is to set up.You cannot put the plugs in the wrong way round because they wont go! Once you get the system set up a quick touch of the power button lights up the displays and your ready to blast the house walls down! With its class H+ amplifier this system can be cranked onto full volume without any distortion or nasty spikes in the music. The Amp has two power supplys so when one starts to overload the other one kicks in to feed more power to the transistors giving a crystal clear sound at all volume levels. Put in your favourite CD and sit back to listen and youd be forgiven for thinking someone had been recording new instruments into your favourite tracks. The music now has sounds you never heard on your Aiwa or your Kenwood. There seems to be extra cymbols here and more drums there! Touch the digital subwoofer button and youll knock the pictures off next doors walls! The system comes with the surround sound speakers which can be used to transform your home into a cinema.Your watching James Bond on a DVD and you would swear that you where part of the action. The sound comes from all directions and gives a fantastic experience. The helicopter in the film really does seem to be oer the top of you its that realistic! Overall Technics in general are probrably one of the best,if not the best in the world when it comes to Hi-Fi equipment.I got this system for about £600 about a year back but that was from a wholesalers which is much cheaper than the high street. If your looking to spend this amount on a new Hi-Fi then look no further. My friends have Kenwoods,Sonys etc and the sound quality does not come near to this.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

After suffering major disappointment from last two hifi systems(Sony and Aiwa)that I purchased,it is such a breath of fresh air to finally purchase a system that has the lot. The sound quality of this hifi is second to none, with its surround sound and tri-amplified speakers the definition of sound it ouputs is frankly excellent. There are sounds and effects on your favourite CD's you will have never noticed before, that is, until you play them on this system. The DVD function adds yet another dimension to the Hifi by letting you play your best DVD films direct from the system. The only concerns I had about purchasing the Technics SC DV-170, was that is has a twin cassette deck rather than a mini disc player. Please don't let this put you off, the cassette player is almost as crisp as the CD player. The only down side to this system is that it is missing a few features on the CD player, i.e, time elapsed on the track playing and not being able to remember which CD is in which draw. On the whole, this system gives quantity and quality in abundance and is a must buy for people who are serious about their music!
