Warms you up like winter sex!

What ever way you cut it the big six energy companies have screwed us over. Governments put in place a market to create a cartel so the big six could fleece us for the money they need for mega expensive infrastructure build and, of course, shareholder dividend. We have seen with the water companies where the government has allowed them to put up the price every year just so there is a profit for the shareholders. In waters case it’s not a scarce resource and we don’t have to import it. Heat and electricity should join water and always be classed as life giving and so affordable for all. You can legally get away with not paying your water bill for one year and not be cut off by the way. Driving up heating costs simply kills older people by the cart load. It would not surprise me if that’s the Tory intention as it saves a hell of a lot of pension payouts.

So, most of us have cranked down the radiators to met the bills and this has begun to erode the big six cartel. They tried to force the price up as a cartel one last time to recover that ‘heat disobedience’ but we got used to wearing three jumpers and because of the wholesale price tumbled and then 20% of us moved to smaller independent suppliers. NPower shedding one third of its UK workforce suggest the consumer has finally won this one. Well played you!

But like food and water we need heat to survive and so it’s not something we can deny ourselves. We will get it anyway we can. If you read my light bulb review you will know clear bulbs can generate some heat and push room temps up a couple of degrees but when its really cold out there you may need that hum of warm air around your derriere from a fan heater, especially if your radiator is bust, to go along with your extra sweater and running on the spot. You can have lots of sex to keep warm but that can get repetitive. I have had problems with my feet getting cold for years as I used to run track as a kid and my circulation not like it was. When you were running marathons at 17 nothing I like it should be at 50. I need my fan heater. I need to warm my feet.

The Connect It model is the generic one you see in pretty much every store. It’s under £15.00 everywhere and can be picked up for £12.99 in places like Comet and the fan heater most people buy. You can get it on Amazon marketplace for less than tenner but they get the money back through P&P. You won’t have any trouble finding this in town or at a shopping park.

It sits both on the vertical and horizontal and has good clearance for the air intakes. You must keep those intakes clear or it will overheat and cut out. The grill is a good size and you can vary the speed of the air coming out, warm for winter and cool for summer. It’s got quite a nice low hum to it and so not too distracting and the settings allow for a really warm blow to warm your tootsies. It would probably take rather too long to warm the bedroom so best for a good warm up rather than central heating scenarios. I’m guessing it’s not cheap to leave them running for more than an hour a day. The turn knobs are easy to use and the settings simple, a three speed fan and a cooker style turn to increase the heat on the other one.

After four months use it’s been perfectly fine although it does wiff a bit electrical on your first few uses as it burns out whatever has been hiding in it in the warehouse. But once up and running and the lungs clear its ideal for warming your hands and feet. No nicer feeling to get your feet warm. Ok, multiple orgasms are nicer but only have a heater to hand these days and no beautiful woman. As its been the mildest winter for 30-years I can’t say I have used it much but if we have another winter like 2010 where the temp never got about freezing in the day or night for three straight weeks then at least I am now ready.

      Great as an emergency heater

Last year when my family and I moved into our new home we had the unfortunate luck of having problems with the heating in the house. The gas had to get switched off and we were given two Connect It heaters to keep us going until it was fixed. They are small in size and have one control setting for heat one one for power. At first I wasn't really expecting much from them as we got them for free but I was surprised how good they worked and how quickly they can heat a room up! We've used them a few times now for heating up the house in the morning but we don't use them too often as they can really ramp up your electricity costs. Another downside is that they are really noisy which can be really annoying if you're trying to watch tv or something with the heater next to you. All in all a really good heater for emergency use!

Think of it as an investment which can return money, plus it's a luxury!

This machine is great! Not only is it efficient, but it works really well. Now if you want a heater, just a general one-this is the one to get. As a fan heater it tends to warm up the whole area rather than just one spot. I have a shed (office) in which I spend time in, but in the winter it was extremely cold. I bought one of these and i didn't want to get out!

Also instead of turning on the heating, you can use these to heat up one area of the house you are going to be in for the whole time. This can save you a bit of money.

This heater is great also as you can get fairly close to it and it won't burn you and you can stay a bit away from it and you will soon feel the heat it gives off.

Saying all of this though there have been problems. Don't get me wrong, I love it! I'm definitely giving it 5 out of 5, and the faults could be because mine is getting old and used a lot, but these are faults that could happen to you. But please don't get discouraged, I highly recommend buying this!

The faults my heater has is that when you turn the wheel setting onto two dots instead of one (this is the heating level where 2 dots is hotter than one dot) it gives off a strong burning smell, which is bad. Second fault is the fact the bar that is supposed to make it hotter the more you turn it round, simply doesn't make it hotter... But like I said it could just be my heater.

      Disadvantages

      Robust, tough little heater

      The Product:

Electric Fan Heater - Sealey brand - same heater

      2Kw

Why I bought this Fan Heater:

We needed to ensure the shed was warm enough for the guinea pigs in winter and noticed at Cotton Tails Rabbit & Guinea Pig Rescue that they used fan heater like this in the sheds.

We had been using an old convector heater from the caravan as a stopgap, but were a bit worried about the safety of it with it being old and the benefit of a smaller fan heater was that it could be used directionally. Also the inlet area was much better suited to a place where animal bedding was being knocked about.

So the first frosts came and went and we started to consider our options. This heater seemed to fit all our requirements so we bought it.

      Delivery/Packaging:

The heater arrived in a cardboard box with minimal packaging and an instruction leaflet.

      Appearance:

This little heater is just what it is! Looks exactly as it does in the photo. It is usable in two positions and has robust built in stands. It is about 24 x 20 x 10 cm (very approx as I've not measured it!) White with silver coloured fins where the warm air comes out. There are two easy to use dials on the side and the cable is about 1.2m long.

      In Use:

We plugged the heater in and checked the instructions which were easy to follow and straightforward. We easily set the thermostat, but kept messing about with it ourselves to ensure it came off and on at the right temperature, after all we wanted gently warmed guinea pigs, not nicely roasted ones!

Luckily we bought and installed the heater just in time for the very cold snap at the start of the winter about 4 years ago. The first night after swopping to this heater, I got up to a hard frost and very chilly morning. I quickly went out to check the shed and the heater had done us proud, the temperature was just above freezing, therefore water was liquid and the guinea pigs were comfortable but hungry! I have since used the heater to keep elderly chickens warm during prolonged cold weather and as a backup heat source when I had to buy a smaller output infra red lamp for a heat lamp.

I believe these are an inexpensive form of electric heating, especially as they are so easy to thermostatically set, even at low temperatures. They come with a 2 year guarantee.

      Any Problems:

      None whatsoever!

      In Conclusion:

A low cost portable heating solution. Robust design suitable for hard knock area use. I'd definitely buy another one.

      Who For:

Anyone who may require a little extra heating, cost effective to run, easy to set up and install.

We used our fan heater mostly in a shed, but used a similar item in a greenhouse, they are also useful for extra heat in an office or workroom and make a great little spare heater for emergency heating.

      Price and Availability:

We bought ours wholesale at a great price. I have just checked and they are available from independent electrical outlets and on-line stores such as: Amazon or eBay for around £60.00 from Amazon. Also available from Sealey outlets nationwide and on-line. May be available cheaper depending on the brand name.

      No hesitation in giving 5/5!

Thank you for reading my review & I hope you found it useful?

        A great little heater.

As a student currently in my third year of university, I have had my fair experience of living in a house with poor students who are reluctant to turn on the heating! Unfortunately for me I landed myself in a ground floor bedroom which had the most draughts in the house.

I purchased this heater so that I could heat my room without having to turn on the heating for the whole house unnecessarily, but was wary as I was often told that these little heaters are known for the pushing up your electricity bills.

For the size of the heater I wasn't expecting it to be very powerful, however I was pleasantly surprised. I could feel the room was significantly warmer after only being on for about five minutes and I would often get comments from my housemates at how warm my room was. The heater is very small and only weighs about 1.3 Kg.

With regards to the extra cost to our bills we didn't find that it significantly made our electricity bills anymore expensive. If anything the little heater saved us money, if we were all sat in one room we would just turn this on for ten minutes rather than switching the heating on.

The heater has two different heat settings, and a fan setting if you chose to use it in the summer to cool rooms down. You can position the fan either lying down or stood upright.

On Amazon you can purchase this item for only £12.99 with free delivery, definitely worth purchasing at that price.

I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
