“ Manufacturer: Connect It / Type: Fan Heater „
Last year when my family and I moved into our new home we had the unfortunate luck of having problems with the heating in the house. The gas had to get switched off and we were given two Connect It heaters to keep us going until it was fixed. They are small in size and have one control setting for heat one one for power. At first I wasn't really expecting much from them as we got them for free but I was surprised how good they worked and how quickly they can heat a room up! We've used them a few times now for heating up the house in the morning but we don't use them too often as they can really ramp up your electricity costs. Another downside is that they are really noisy which can be really annoying if you're trying to watch tv or something with the heater next to you. All in all a really good heater for emergency use!
This machine is great! Not only is it efficient, but it works really well. Now if you want a heater, just a general one-this is the one to get. As a fan heater it tends to warm up the whole area rather than just one spot. I have a shed (office) in which I spend time in, but in the winter it was extremely cold. I bought one of these and i didn't want to get out!
Also instead of turning on the heating, you can use these to heat up one area of the house you are going to be in for the whole time. This can save you a bit of money.
This heater is great also as you can get fairly close to it and it won't burn you and you can stay a bit away from it and you will soon feel the heat it gives off.
Saying all of this though there have been problems. Don't get me wrong, I love it! I'm definitely giving it 5 out of 5, and the faults could be because mine is getting old and used a lot, but these are faults that could happen to you. But please don't get discouraged, I highly recommend buying this!
The faults my heater has is that when you turn the wheel setting onto two dots instead of one (this is the heating level where 2 dots is hotter than one dot) it gives off a strong burning smell, which is bad. Second fault is the fact the bar that is supposed to make it hotter the more you turn it round, simply doesn't make it hotter... But like I said it could just be my heater.

Why I bought this Fan Heater:
We needed to ensure the shed was warm enough for the guinea pigs in winter and noticed at Cotton Tails Rabbit & Guinea Pig Rescue that they used fan heater like this in the sheds.
We had been using an old convector heater from the caravan as a stopgap, but were a bit worried about the safety of it with it being old and the benefit of a smaller fan heater was that it could be used directionally. Also the inlet area was much better suited to a place where animal bedding was being knocked about.
So the first frosts came and went and we started to consider our options. This heater seemed to fit all our requirements so we bought it.
The heater arrived in a cardboard box with minimal packaging and an instruction leaflet.
This little heater is just what it is! Looks exactly as it does in the photo. It is usable in two positions and has robust built in stands. It is about 24 x 20 x 10 cm (very approx as I've not measured it!) White with silver coloured fins where the warm air comes out. There are two easy to use dials on the side and the cable is about 1.2m long.
We plugged the heater in and checked the instructions which were easy to follow and straightforward. We easily set the thermostat, but kept messing about with it ourselves to ensure it came off and on at the right temperature, after all we wanted gently warmed guinea pigs, not nicely roasted ones!
Luckily we bought and installed the heater just in time for the very cold snap at the start of the winter about 4 years ago. The first night after swopping to this heater, I got up to a hard frost and very chilly morning. I quickly went out to check the shed and the heater had done us proud, the temperature was just above freezing, therefore water was liquid and the guinea pigs were comfortable but hungry! I have since used the heater to keep elderly chickens warm during prolonged cold weather and as a backup heat source when I had to buy a smaller output infra red lamp for a heat lamp.
I believe these are an inexpensive form of electric heating, especially as they are so easy to thermostatically set, even at low temperatures. They come with a 2 year guarantee.
A low cost portable heating solution. Robust design suitable for hard knock area use. I'd definitely buy another one.
Anyone who may require a little extra heating, cost effective to run, easy to set up and install.
We used our fan heater mostly in a shed, but used a similar item in a greenhouse, they are also useful for extra heat in an office or workroom and make a great little spare heater for emergency heating.
Price and Availability:
We bought ours wholesale at a great price. I have just checked and they are available from independent electrical outlets and on-line stores such as: Amazon or eBay for around £60.00 from Amazon. Also available from Sealey outlets nationwide and on-line. May be available cheaper depending on the brand name.
No hesitation in giving 5/5!
Thank you for reading my review & I hope you found it useful?
As a student currently in my third year of university, I have had my fair experience of living in a house with poor students who are reluctant to turn on the heating! Unfortunately for me I landed myself in a ground floor bedroom which had the most draughts in the house.
I purchased this heater so that I could heat my room without having to turn on the heating for the whole house unnecessarily, but was wary as I was often told that these little heaters are known for the pushing up your electricity bills.
For the size of the heater I wasn't expecting it to be very powerful, however I was pleasantly surprised. I could feel the room was significantly warmer after only being on for about five minutes and I would often get comments from my housemates at how warm my room was. The heater is very small and only weighs about 1.3 Kg.
With regards to the extra cost to our bills we didn't find that it significantly made our electricity bills anymore expensive. If anything the little heater saved us money, if we were all sat in one room we would just turn this on for ten minutes rather than switching the heating on.
The heater has two different heat settings, and a fan setting if you chose to use it in the summer to cool rooms down. You can position the fan either lying down or stood upright.
On Amazon you can purchase this item for only £12.99 with free delivery, definitely worth purchasing at that price.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
I've had my Connect-It ES140 Fan Heater for a good 5 years or so now and have found it to be one of the most reliable little fan heaters I've ever had the need for.
This handy little fan heater comes with 2 heat settings; warm and hot as well as a fan only setting which means you can use it as a fan in the summer months too if required.
*What and Why?*
The fan heater is very lightweight and comes with a long enough cable so you can easily direct it to wherever you need a bit of extra heat. I find it quite convenient if I don't want to put on the central heating. Say I'm the only one home; it's not necessary to have my whole home heated, so I pop this on for a short while to direct a bit of heat my way. I have to say it heats up a room very quickly and more often than not I find using it for 10-15 minutes can easily heat up a whole room as long as the door is closed.
I love the fact that I can use this fan heater either laid flat on the floor or on its side - both methods are equally effective. Having the fan heater upright is quite effective when using this to cool a room in summer.
It might only have an output of 2Kw but it's pretty effective nonetheless. As I said earlier, I've had this little fan heater for at least 5 years and am pretty pleased that it has outlasted its warranty period by 4 years already and showing no signs of dying on me. Nor does it show any signs of aging. It's not a silent fan heater but it doesn't make a horrendous noise like many other fan heaters I've experienced over the years (at work for example, we have a horrid fan heater we've had to use for a while due to some heating problems and we can't even have it on when making phone calls as it's so loud)!
My Connect-It fan heater is quite clever as well in that it has built in overheat protection which gives me peace of mind that it's not likely to blow up from overuse nor melt itself if it gets too hot. I've not often left this fan heater on long enough for it to get to the stage where it switches itself off but I was curious a few times to see if it would actually turn itself off and was pleasantly surprised when it did. It does give you that extra bit of piece of mind to know that equipment like this is reliable enough to turn itself off in case you forget to do so yourself.
The heater itself is mostly colour with a black grill on the front. It has vents on the top and bottom when this is laid flat with enough height to let the heat escape without me worrying about my carpet getting singed. There's also a handy little red light indicator to let you know the fan heater is on, in case you forget to switch it off.
*What's the Damage Guv-Nor?*
I bought this is Wilkinson quite some time ago now and recall it was considerably less than £20 at the time of purchase and came with a 12 month warranty. I understand it's still being sold by them for around £14 these days. Amazon is selling the same item for over £20 (at the time of writing).
I'm happy to give the Connect-IT Fan Heater a top score of 5 out of 5. It does exactly what I expect it to and has never yet let me down and as an added bonus I can use it as a fan to cool down in the summer months too.
