I see that the other reviews on this product are not specific enough so I''m going to try to give everyone a clear run down of how to use the Cyclotest. I''ve been using it for almost a year and I am really happy with it. A contraceptive or fertility monitor charts your temperature or other fertility indicators and produces a chart showing when during the month you are ovulating. Ok. You get your Cyclotest. A round button in the center turns it on. Take out the thermometer put it under your tongue. your temperature will pop up on the screen, keep the thermometer in as you temperature rises. when it has an accurate reading it will beep. A fertility display will show up on the screen, with a long graph. It will show you what day of your cycle you are on, as well as if your temperature means you are ovulating, approaching ovulation, or after ovulation. When you approaching ovulation, a graphic with a baby will show up on your screen. When you are actually ovulating, two babies show up. That means sex could lead to a baby! What you do with that information is up to you. For contraceptive purposes, you will want to avoid sex before and during ovulation (see more on fertility charting for a more detailed explanation of this). If your trying to get pregnant, then you''ll want to have more sex during that time! Hope this helped. Just want to mention that if you are considering this purchase contraception-cyclotest.co.uk also offers a free start up call so if you are worried about buying the device but not knowing how to use it you really don''t have to worry!
We bought our Cyclotest based on price and reliability. Test stick based methods were reported to only 96% reliable yet this was 99%.
Some NFP monitors with a similar 99% reliability were 400+ pounds and the urine stick monitors would eventually end up in that price bracket after a year of consumption anyway, so this really was a no brainer.
Simple to use, we seemed to have read the instructions correctly first time around, we did call the helpline and they answered quickly and politely although we were only asking about registering the warranty.
After 3 months/cycles...so far so good. Even from the very first cycle it showed ovulation when it happened and then put us in the 'safe zone', so it's defiantly doing what is promised.
We only want it for contraception at the moment but it's quite obvious how we can use it for conception too, just paying attention to the most fertile days shown on the screen.
A good buy!
i'd been wanting to get off the pill for a long time and after trying diaphragms (what a pain!) i was starting to get worried that i'd have to stay on the pill good because all the other options sounded like such a mess. i started researching natural family planning after hearing someone at my church talk about fertility monitoring. it was a really new concept to me and aft first, i thought it sounded really inconvenient and something i wouldn't be able to turn into a routine. all the other women i talked to inmy church group were manually recording their waking temperature and using other indicators to plan their love life for the day. before giving up completely and going back on the pill, i found an article about contraceptive monitors on http://contraceptive-cyclotest.co.uk. they seemed just what i was looking for and easy enough for me to keep up with. so, i bought it, and love it! it's so easy, even the laziest woman (like me) can use it, it's just like remembering to take the pill only you don't have to ingest any hormones every day! if you want to get off the pill, i think this is your best alternative. thanks cyclotest!
I bought cyclotest after having some issues with hormonal birth control. I'd been on it for about ten years and never really liked the idea of putting hormones in my body when I didn't need to. I was really happy to find cyclotest 2 plus online and it came on time and in perfect condition, just like on the website. I use cyclotest every morning to take my temperature so I can see if I'm fertile on that day or not. When I am fertile, usually only a few days per cycle, I use a condom if I have intercourse. cyclotest 2 plus is really tiny, so it's easy to carry if I'm travelling and the thermometer is soft and flexible, which makes taking the readings a bit more comfortable. For what it delivers, I think cyclotest 2 plus's value is very high considering it's relatively low price when compared to other contraceptive monitors. So, if you're looking for a natural form of birth control, I'd really recommend monitoring your fertility by using cyclotest each morning! And it's super easy!
