These headphones have not let us down! These Turtle Beach Ear force X 12 Earphones have out lived all of its predecessors! Despite being stepped on, sat on, dropped on and hoovered - it is a miracle that these headphones are still fully functioning after 6 long hard months in our house hold. We bought these for our son last Christmas, for use on the X box and also the gaming computer. They were reasonably priced for what they deliver: quality. As well as excellent sound quality, good microphone quality, resonance and longevity, they cup your ears very comfortably like a pair of soft nuturing mufflers. Ear heaven. What more could you want? I have awarded this product 4 out of 5 hearts. It lost just the one point on account of the excessively long wires which have been sucked up by the vacuum cleaner from time to time. The fact that these earphones have survived such an ordeal is testament to how tough they are. Tough, durable, and hard to break. No other earphones have made it this far. The next best earphones lasted only 3 months before getting stepped on to destruction. So it's a big thumbs up to the take-no-prisoners Turtle Beach Ear force X 12 Earphones.
These headphones may look like a pair of oversized headphones, and they are. But they transform the immersion of gaming, particular if you've grown accustomed to basic sound systems built in to TVs.
It might sound off that the simple addition of headphones can transform a good gaming experience to a great one, but the realism these provide (and at surprising comfort) make you integrate with the game like never before.
The headphones give you brilliant audio quality and highlight the deficiency of playing (particularly FPS games) without surround sound or noticable stereo and even in the case of good 5.1 systems creates an even better effect with it cancelling the noise out from other sources. You'll find your self with a burning desire to turn round to shoot your wall rather than turn on screen. They'll also help if your housemates don't want to hear you gunning people down or racing round the streets of monaco at 4am.
Even better, they offer you the chance to chat with your friends with a clear, crisp and comfortable headset unlike the one packaged with your xbox. One thing that I had to deal with however was my tendency to shout down the microphone as I compensated my voice to deal with the headphones noise cancelling properties, nullifying the silent gaming idea. It is something you get used to though, it is just on odd experience at first talking and not being able to hear yourself.
Now these headsets are undoubtedly brilliant sound quality, but I have two main problems from my experience with them. The first is the wires, It can be annoying being attached to your xbox, especially when you're used to a wireless controller and they can end up trailing across a room. They have plenty of slack in the wire so the cable can stretch a huge distance, but it's annoying for anyone walking around you. My final problem is that they are very delicate. I personally had the microphone fail on me a few months after using it, and I have spoken to friend who have had various issues with these headsets. It's also quite telling that in the box there is a warning that the headset is very delicate and should be handled with care indicating that they're aware of the problem, they just haven't sorted it. Maybe it is fixed on later models, but this was an issue for me and people I know. That said my second set has been treated in much the same fashion and no problems have arisen so it may be that luck plays a part.
These headsets from a performance point of view are brilliant, but from others and my own personal experience have as far as I'm aware unaddressed reliability concerns. Even though it's not 100% reliable, the experience was so good I got another pair! Still a 4 star review, and if their future models add reliability into the mix then it's 5 stars like that!
I've owned a 360 ever since they were first released and I have now had the turtle beach X1 for at least 2 years.
The thing that attracted me to buy them were the fact that you have sound in both ears! - those who own an xbox will know that the headphones that come with the xbox only covers one ear, which I found extremely annoying.
I was unaware how good the sound quality would actually be as in my eyes they don't look like they have superior sound quality in terms of appearance and the brand name (never heard of them before). When it came to using them I was so pleased at how good the sound quality is, the difference from these to the generic xbox headset is absolutely phenomenal.
The game where these have come to best use is in the Call of Duty series, you will be able to hear footsteps that you wouldn't have heard before, giving you an actual advantage over gamers who do not have this headset. They also give a better experience with other games due to their ability to pick up a long range of sounds. For example, using this with the FIFA series gives you a much better atmosphere and makes you feel like your sitting in the stands.
I have owned the same pair for over 2 years now and they are still going strong, I would say that these headphones have been one of the best buys in my life when it comes to technology - the sound quality is excellent and you can talk to your friends (friends say I sound clearer since using this), so what more do you want? If you are looking for a new pair of headphones for your xbox 360 I would strongly recommend these, you will struggle to find better.
This is a superior headset for the Xbox and Pc, I purchased it for playing Fifa 10 with mates, but those of my friends who own it say it is also brilliant for games such as Call of Duty and any shoot em up where you want both atmosphere and the chance to hear your friends talk where it really adds to the atmosphere and makes it an even better game to enjoy.
Available in most serious gaming shops, I bought my set for £39.99 on Amazon a while ago, it is currently £49.99 but the price does fluctuate and if you wait for a sale you'll generally find yourself able to buy it slightly cheaper.
The headphones look good, they have big ear cups, big enough to drown out any sound in the room, they are strong, won't break or fall apart and are easily adjustable for people with slightly bigger heads like me.
So why would you buy this:
It allows you to hear conversation and the in-game audio through both ears, making the whole experience more real and more personal, generally you can hear conversation in one ear and sound in the other, for me this always put me off and was a distraction rather than something to enjoy in a game, now I can play Fifa 10 (Hopefully soon Fifa 11) to my hearts content without feeling put off by the whole experience.
The Microphone is good too, it can pick up sounds easily and can be adjusted to even ensure you hear nothing, you can also adjust sound levels to your own preference.
Sound quality is excellent and I can play whilst my partner reads with heavy bass, people screaming at me, mocking my poor playing skills without her hearing a thing.
Setting the speakers up is easy enough with instructions, it just requires placing a few wires into the relevant holes in the Xbox 360, it only takes about 2 minutes to set up in total. I have found these speakers to be reliable, hard wearing, comfortable (Which really does make a difference) and a class apart from anything i've used before.
At £49.99 currently they are expensive, but you really do get value and a hard wearing, reliable product for your money.
Wow. What a fantastic sound quality these headphones give out. I have been an Xbox 360 gamer for a long time and often found myself dying a lot in certain games for one stupid reason which is not hearing what's coming round the corner!
The great thing about these headphones is that you can hear absolutely everything! Nobody is going to sneak up on you again in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (unless they have silent footsteps perk) without you hearing them first!
Every subtle detail in games becomes audible and it makes you appreciate your game that much more than if you were listening on ordinary bog-standard headphones.
The headphones fit comfortably around your ears and are not too tight or painful even after long periods of use. Much more comfortable than the default Xbox 360 head set!
Another good thing about these head phones is that you can use them with other devices such as your PC or Mac - you just have to use the right wire.
All in all, this is a great buy and I highly recommend these headphones to any serious gamer or Xbox 360 player who would like to hear the full experience in their games.
The Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 is a gaming headset which is used on the Xbox 360 console. What this headset does is gives you the game audio and the game chat in both ears. This is a lot better than using a normal Xbox 360 mic because one ear would be covered by the mic and you would lose out on the game audio.
The sound quality of this headset is excellent on many different games and the bass is very loud too. If you play games like Call of Duty then this headset will give you a big advantage over everyone else. When playing online on call of duty you can hear footsteps of people on the other team and this really does make it east to find people.
The headset is simple to set up but one big disadvantage with this headset is the amount of wires. Once the headset is set up you will notice the main wire to the headset is very long. Other than that this is a brilliant product.
I paid about £45 for this headset and it was well worth the money.
These headphones and microphone where built and design specifically for use with the Xbox 360 gaming console. However they can easily be converted for use with a computer giving them dual purpose.
Like any other headphones they are held in place over you head with strapping type headband. The strapping on these is ajustable. I have a very small head and often have trouble with getting headsets to not fall off! I was very pleased when the the headset fitted perfectly once ajusted and it was not even on it smallest setting. Having said that it is also big enough to be worn by others with larger brains than mine. The strapping is padded which makes it very comfortable to wear. The miocrophone is held on a flexible rod and can be moved to any position you prefer. This is a very important feature for me as I like to move the microphone away from my face when I'm not using it.
Another great thing about this headset asaposed to others; it integrates both the game sound and the voice chat so you can always here what it going on. The way it mixes it is sensitve enough to not allow one to interfere with the other.
The sound quality from these is very good. The bass it nice and deep and even turned up full blast never crackles or distorts. The game volume and voice chat volume can be independantly raised and lowered so you can find a level/balance which suits you. The microphone also nevre picks up the sound coming from the head phones and every on has always said they can hear me clearly which I put down to the quality of the headphones. However these to not convert to suround sound which I was a little disapointed with.
The wires are none invasive and have never got in my way and I prefer this to having more batteries to recharge. It is simpe to connect to both the XBox and the PC, simply follow the instructions provided and you'll be done in no time.
Over all I really like these headphones. They are comfy to use, the sound quality is good, albeit not surround sound and the micrphone delivery clear sound. However I don't feel like I can give it 5 star, nor even 4 as it does lack the surround sound so many other headphones have.
I got this headset as a Christmas present because my other Xbox 360 had broken a few days before. I was so Shocked! A how GOOD they were, i mean WOW, the sound quality is absolutely phenomenal! When playing games like Call of Duty you can hear everything, I didn't realise that the people who made the game actually intended you to hear people running past you, and with this headset you can hear the direction they are going too. The heatset is especially great because it sits around you ears and gives you great comfort aswell as sound.
This is a great product for an even better price! Not only is it a designed headphones for gaming it also has an inbuilt microphone which works excellent when you want to talk to your friends over Xbox Live. It is slick and it works effectively, which is exactly what you want when buying a headset. The Turtlebeach headphones are great for anything from listening to music, playing games on Xbox Live and also watching movies. The build quality is extremly good as it hasn't broken yet and it feels so secure and it looks great when you wearing it! :)
In conclusion I rate this a high 5 out of 5 for the fact that it has superb sound quality, a great microphone built in which is retractable and has a mute facilty, and looks stunning!
Please rate and comment if this has helped you! :D
Are you a hardcore professional gamer? Need to get better at gaming? Are you willing to fork out £50 on a brilliant headset? if you said 'yes' to any one of these questions then the Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 headset if the way to go! i heard about Turtle Beach from Machinima Respawn (a directors channel on youtube) and i could not fight the urge to grab some cash and order one online, so people have a look at the pros and cons of the product =P
->If someone is sleeping in the household and doesnt want to hear gameplay audio down the hallway, im telling you this is your solution
->Compatable with a desktop pc which means that you can use them to listen to music, although i am uncertain if you can use the mic on the Pc but it is very unlikely
->You can hear both Xbl chat and the game audio mixed together to help you get into the game more and another to the plus side, you can hear enemies footsteps in games such as Call Of Duty or can be very reliable in games like Ghost Recon in the near future.
->It can take some while getting used to but when you do, you can seriously improve you gaming style
->it is fragile despite its looks so be careful and do throw it around.....you know what i mean =P
->You can, even tho it is rare, lose hearing in one headphone because of abusing the headphone jack by pulling it in and out of the Xbox controller again and again.
Overall i give it (4)****out of (5)***** stars
This was SDpwnage with a hopefully helpful review and i hope to see people soon with more of these because they are just awesome! without a doubt =D(Y).......PEACE OUT GUYS
I have been playing Call of Duty for years now and have never had the urge to get a pair of these or any similar ones until recently.
There are 2 main reasons someone buys Turtle Beach's, the first is the fact that you can hear the sound a lot better.
Everything in the game sounds a lot loader and all the little details are a lot clearer. You can hear things in the back ground that you wouldn't normally hear, like the wind and distant gun fire. The other things you can hear are footsteps. With these headphones, you can tell if an enemy is near you and if you are good enough you can tell exactly where he is.
If they are to the left, then you hear it to the left of your headset and the same for the right. You can also tell if some one is behind you and after a few hours of experience you can tell if they are above you.
The other main reason for owning a pair is that no one else will hear you play. If you are a late night gamer, you can wear these, all the sound goes to the headphones and no one will hear you and you won't wake anyone up.
The X1's are the most popular of the turtle beaches, simply because they have been out longer and are cheaper than the X31's and the X41's.
You can tell these are cheaper because they aren't as comfortable and are made as well. The ear pads don't fit around your ears, they sit on top of them which can start to ache after a while. Also the Puck breaks for most people. This can be replaced for about £10 but it really shouldn't happen, you can tell they tried to save money.
I don't know if this is a problem with all Turtle Beach's but the microphone cable is rough and is rigid, if you run your finger down it, it will make a horrible noise down the mic and everyone can hear it in your lobby.
They are easy to set up. Simply plug them in to your TV using the Red and White cable and plug your Xbox 360 Red and White cable into the back of them. You also need to plug the headset into the Xbox 360 with a USB connector and also into the control using the small cable for chat.
They can also be used for PC which I haven't tried but have heard they work pretty much the same apart from the Red and White cables, you simply plug them into the mic and headphone jacks.
Brand new, these are about £40-£50, on eBay you can buy them for £25-£35.
So not cheap.
There are other brands available which claim to offer better quality but for a higher price.
The Turtle Beach X1 headset is the perfect solution for Xbox 360 and even PC gaming needs. The sound quality is pretty good for what you pay, although a fuzzy background noise can be heard when playing with the volume up too high. The headset is very easy to set up with just three input cables, USB, green 3.5mm jack (audio) and also the pink 3.5mm jack (microphone).
I also use these headphones to DJ with sometimes on online radio stations as the microphone quality is really good, for once again, the low price that you, the end user pays.
Games that I'd recommend this headset for are the First Person Shooter games such as the Halo series or the Call of Duty series. They definately give you an advantage against enemies and even friends and they also allow light night gaming sessioins to go ahead as all the sound is enclosed around you.
A great headset for the price!
This headset is excellent for Xbox 360 first person shooter gamers looking to improve their kill death ratios and overall scores. Unlike the standard 360 headset you can hear your friends talking in your party as well as sounds from the game at the same time. This means if someone is sneaking up behind you it is easy to hear them and intercept them. If you are playing late at night there is no need to disturb your neighbours or anyone else in your house as all sound can be played through the headset. There are two volume controls so that you can adjust the game noises and your friend's voices to make them quieter if you're not playing well.
This headset is one of the cheapest around, at only around £40 it is far cheaper than 'pro' headsets that can cost hundreds of pounds. The sound quality difference between this headset and 'pro' ones is barely noticeable
The Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 is a gaming headset which is mainly for the Xbox 360 but it can be used for the PC. What this headset does is gives you the in game audio and you also get to hear the game chat which is in both ears. A standard Xbox 360 headset only gives you in game chat in one ear and you do miss out on a lot of the game audio.
Most of the people who buy this headset probably play online multiplayer games such as Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The main reason people buy these headsets are so you can hear everything whilst playing online multiplayer games. When playing Call of Duty you can hear footsteps of players all around you and this gives you a really big advantage over every one else.
The sound quality that you get from this headset is very good in my opinion. This headset has an automatic bass boom so if a grenade goes off next to you then it will be quite loud.
The only problem that I have ever had with my Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 is when the chat lead broke. This happened after about 5 months of having this headset. When this happened I looked online and it seams that this has happened to quite a few people but you can buy a new chat lead from the turtle beach website and they are not expensive.
This headset can seem a little bit complicated to set up at first but the instructions make it very clear. The headset is powered by the USB cable and all the sound cables just plug into the back of your television with your Xbox 360 cables. One other thing that a don't like about this headset it the amount of wires everywhere once it is all set up. The main wire for this headset is quite long.
One great advantage about this headset is that you can have loud game audio and not annoy the people around you. This is a great advantage if you play games in the evening. This headset is very combatable and the ear cups are quite big.
Overall this is a very good gaming headset. I paid about £45 for my Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 and it was well worth the money there are a couple of disadvantages but I still thing this is a great thing to have if you play a lot on the Xbox 360.

Right, I bought these headphones last week primarily to be used on Call of Duty 4.
They cost £43.50 including delivery from Amazon and was amazed at how quickly they turned up.
In the past I have had 2 sets of original Microsoft earphones and have also purchased the Wireless Microsoft headset which I thought was great until these bad boys turned up.
On first impressions I was slightly miffed at how many wires there were but on the same level un-phased as I knew these headphones were going to be awesome , I frantically set about installing the headphones so I could experience what is was like to feel like you were part of the game.
Upon installing these headphones I noticed feedback through the ear pieces once you had turned your MIC on. This is overcome by plugging the headphone USB into the back of the Xbox360 whilst putting the wireless in to the front.
Anyway onto the best bits:
It's a dream for those late night sessions and believe it or not they actually keep you warm. The amount of times I've being playing the Xbox for 3-4 hours and started to go cold - I'm not kidding these babies keep the heat in.
They are extremely comfortable although they do make you look like a pilot from a Boeing 747
IMMENSE..................................you can hear so many things that you don't normally get through your TV. The sound quality is excellent - you can actually pin point the slightest bit of movement. For instance, if someone is walking/running 10-20m to your right you can hear the movement they are making in the right ear piece which allows you to isolate exactly where people are, if you turn your head the opposite way then the movement plays through the left ear - its amazing.
If you have ever played COD 4 believe you me the Airstrikes and Helicopters feel like they are raining down on your very own house because they have so much bass. Trust me once that volume is whacked right up (see how long you can stand it) don't expect to hear anything but the game you are playing.
One problem I did encounter was trying to get the right setting to hear both the chat and the game play at acceptable levels; this is achieved by adjusting the settings on your Xbox 360 by increasing the Chat volume and decreasing the game play volume on the amplifier that comes with the headphones.
I must stress that these earphones are a must for any serious Xbox360 gamer - well worth every penny spent.
Well, what can I say about this headset other than it's just amazing. This headset is a must buy for any Xbox 360 gamer!
Most Xbox 360s will give you a free headset. This headset usually only comes with one speaker for your ear, which can be very hard to hear people speak and that's about it!
The turtle beach is a headset specifically made for late night gaming. By using splitters in the back of the TV (where the audio slots for your Xbox 360 go) it takes the sound through your turtle beach. As well as this, the headset is equipped with a microphone. So as well as being able to hear everything in the game, you are able to speak to your friends as well.
The turtle beach X1 is amazing. When playing Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, I love the fact that I can hear people walking around in buildings next to me! When playing games, this headset has saved my life many times by being able to hear enemies walking towards me and rather than me run in, as I usually would, I waited and got the kill!
Obviously this headset isn't only useful for games like Call of Duty! The headset can be used for any game and you will still find it to be amazing. The fact that the sound goes directly to your ears, it blocks out all unwanted noises, such as younger brothers and sister watching TV. Seeing as the headset is streaming sound straight to your ears, you hear many things that you would never usually hear in the game without the headset. To me this adds more effect to the game and makes it better
The sound quality is very good. I have never had a problem with hearing anything or anyone. The adjustable volume can make the sound shake the headset it self! Playing games such as Dead Space with ones of these on your head can really make the game come alive. It can also make you jump out your seat because Dead Space is a scary game!
The only problem I can think of is the wires! Now I hate wires, especially long ones which just get tangles for no reason! Having so many wires makes it somewhat difficult to transport around. Its not that it is hard to move around, but it can just get fiddly and annoying!
On the flip side the wires can be very useful. If you're like me and you play Xbox 360 but you also play PC from time to time, this headset can come in use. The headset can be used buy plugging in the Green (Headset) and Pink (Microphone) plugs into your PC and it will work with no problem.
If you're thinking about getting this for your Playstation 3, you can use it! The only problem is that you will need to buy a soundcard with it. These can be pricey but can be bought from Amazon for £10. Turtle beach have made headsets for different consoles. Even though this will work on PS3, I would recommend buying the one specifically made for PS3. This is called the Ear Force P21. The X1 headset is specifically made for Xbox 360 and works really well with the PC!
I felt that the headset is very comfortable! With the adjustable straps, it can mould to any head size, big or small. Around the headphones there is padding, this is better than all other Xbox headset and is very comfortable!
This headset will last longer than any headset you will own. Usually, the Microsoft headset which come with the Xbox 360s break easily! I ended up going through about 4 of the Microsoft headsets and ended up getting fed up. If I bought this headset to begin with, I would have saved myself a lot of money! I have had my turtle beach for nearly a year now, and it has never break or needed to be repaired.
All in all I felt that this was a great purchase! I felt that the sound was great, it was comfortable and reliable. I thought the price is VERY good for what it is! This is a must buy for any gamer on Xbox 360 or PC who needs a headset or for anyone who wants to play late night gaming and still hear everything without having to turn the sound down or off.
The Ear Force X1 Xbox 360 Stereo Headset's integrated design overcomes the limitation of Xbox communicator headsets that block game sound from one ear and eliminates voice chat interference caused by the headset microphone picking up sound from external speakers. Pump up the volume without disturbing friends, family or neighbors with these Xbox 360 Stereo Headsets. Hear every nuance of the game - from an opponent sneaking up behind you to your teammate's voice right next to you. Trash talk online. Block out distractions. It's everything you need for an amazing gaming experience.
