I have always appreciated utilizing Sony headphones so when my old collection broke, I had no reluctance in getting another set of Sonys,. Therefore I had to have a look at additional sets, unfortunately, my previous design were ended. As I am not just a massive listener to audio away from home, I opted the ZX300.
The ZX300 are oven the ear headphones and they nevertheless do cover the entire head although the ear coverage is less than what I appreciated on my past headphones. The entire headset appears far more streamlined than my past couple of Sony's did, possibly because of this styles changing within the last couple of years.
As far if I am being straightforward as sound quality goes, I favored the production from my previous headphones. That isn't to say since it is, the ZX300 is not excellent. The sound only seemed a little more easier on my old headphones. To me, it's really a harder sound you will get out from the ZX300. I am uncertain if here is the true motive although I place right down this to the smaller speakers.
The ZX300 can be a headset that is comfortable and that I can wear it all night without experience want it is becoming even a pain or obtrusive to use. The audio wire that fits into any adapter is plenty long enough if you certainly will also match many events where you plug the headphones into a more static audio player such as a PC or television set and intend to use the headphones using a mobile device.
For the value, I would recommend these headphones but you could have to check out more costly styles whilst the ZX300 might abandon you feeling slightly disappointed if you are looking for a genuine crisp looking productivity.
These headphones were purchased for me as a gift, I needed some headphones after I rediscovered music. They do the job perfectly, delivering a high quality of sound and a real feel to the music. Sonys walkman brand revolutionised music, so you can be reasured that they know what they are doing when it comes to music.
The headphones are stylish and small details make them look twice the price, but when you actually use them it is a different story, the plastic that goes over your head feels cheap and makes noise when first put on. The sides of the headphones look shiny but the plastic used is scratchy. The bits that matter still feel like they will last like the thick AUX cable and sturdy head muffs. Everyone is guaranteed to find a style they like as they come in many different colours.
Once they are on it's easy to get comfortable and after a while I often forget they are even on my head. Your ears can get warm after long periods of use which is comforting in the winter yet uncomfortable in hot weather.
The sound cancelling is very poor and only offer as much protection as earphones. The volume needed to drown out even the slightest background noise means others around you can hear what you are listening to.
I have recommended these to a friends before and those who have taken the advice have not been disappointed.
For the price you will find it hard to get a pair of headphones with such good sound quality and style. I have given this product 5 stars as the small draw backs are more than made up for by the price.
I will use this headphone and it will work properly and it's sound clearty is very good ,
There is a no bass problem in this headphone .
And it's really work good .
I will use daily in travel but it really work good.
I have always enjoyed using Sony headphones so when my old set broke, I had no hesitation in purchasing another pair of Sonys. Unfortunately, my previous model had been discontinued so I had to look at other pairs. As I am not a massive listener to music on the go, I opted for a mid range pair, the ZX300.
The ZX300 are over the ear headphones and although the ear coverage is less than what I enjoyed on my previous headphones, they still do cover the entire ear. The whole headset looks a lot more streamlined than my previous pair of Sony's did, probably as a result of styles changing over the past few years.
As far as sound quality goes, if I'm being honest, I preferred the output from my previous headphones. That's not to say the ZX300 isn't good because it is. The sound just seemed a bit more smoother on my old headphones. To me, it's a harder sound that you get out of the ZX300. I put this down to the smaller speakers but I'm not sure if this is the real reason.
The ZX300 is a comfortable headset and I can wear it for hours without feeling like it is becoming obtrusive or a nuisance to wear. The audio cable that fits into any 3mm adapter is plenty long enough if you plan to use the headphones with a mobile device and will also suit most occasions where you plug the headphones into a more static audio player such as a PC or TV set.
For the price, I would recommend these headphones but if you are looking for a real crisp sounding output, you may have to look at more expensive models as the ZX300 may leave you feeling slightly disappointed.
I bought these headphones specifically to use while travelling from UK to New Zealand and back again - a journey I will be making several times this year. I wanted headphones that would pack easily into my hand luggage and would be comfortable for long periods of use - I envisaged using them to watch in-flight films and also listen to my iPod.
These headphones met all of my criteria. I am sure that if I were a 'music listening expert' (if there is such a thing!) that I would find fault somewhere - but for an 'everyday joe' kind of a person looking for good sound quality, comfort, affordability and ease of storage these ticked every box.
I bought a small adaptor so that on the flights where a two-prong headphone jack was required I was still able to use these Sony MDRZX300 headphones.
The large padded earpieces were comfortable and there is a small 'nobbly' bit on the left hand headphone so that even in dim lighting on the aircraft it was still possible to get them on the correct ears. I found the padding worked very well to cut out the surrounding noises so I could hear the soundtrack of the film without any problems at all. The width of the 'headband' was also generous enough to enable me to find a comfortable position very easily.
For storage, the swivel feature of both earphones allowed me to pop them easily into a pocket in my hand luggage bag without fear of snapping them off (a problem I have experienced on other headphones in the past) - the swivel feature also helps the earpieces to fit comfortably in use.
Normally I wear in-ear headphones with my mp3 player as they are easier to carry around when I'm taking a walk or commuting to work. However, a few months ago I was looking for a pair of over-ear headphones to use when I'm at home on my laptop. These Sony headphones from Argos cost £17.99 (although I got them for less due to a family discount) and come in 3 colours: blue (my choice), red and black.
These headphones are fairly light; the earpads can turned to face down so they lie flat and are easier to pack in a bag without breaking them. Furthermore you can adjust the headband to easily fit your head comfortably. The cable is only 1.2 metres long, which might prove a bit short for some. However, it's a perfect length for plugging into my laptop's headphone jack or to my mp3 player.
I find these headphones very comfortable to wear. The ear-cups cushion my ears really well and they don't feel heavy on my head. I admit that, after a few hours of wearing these, the tips of my ears begin to hurt, but I don't tend to wear headphones for hours on end so this is only an occasional pain. I imagine that unless you are a DJ or on a long-haul flight, this shouldn't be a major problem for most either (and in the case of the former I'm pretty sure you will require more high-tech headphones anyway!).
As for the sound quality, I'd say these headphones are good for the cost. When I listen to music through my laptop I don't hear any distortion and it seems good as listening to music through my mp3 player. The sound is rather bassy which I don't mind at all since a lot of my previous headphones were bass-heavy as well. Unfortunately, even at a fairly low volume the sound leaks out from the headphones, so I couldn't use them in a library, for example, which is a shame.
Overall I am very pleased that I bought these headphones as they allow me to listen to music and videos without disturbing my parents in the evening. The cable length and sound leakage might make these headphones more problematic for those using them on the go or for commuting to work, school or university. However as I only use them in my house and for my laptop, these headphones work great for that purpose.
When I bought this Product
My in ear headphones had been wearing out for a while so decided to look around for a replacement pair, as I had an a £10 Argos gift voucher I decided to buy the Sony MDR ZX300 for £17.99.
Once I had the headphones out of the box the first thing I did was to test them by plugging them into my computer, the cable is long enough to reach the computer without having to sit really close or stretch the cable, although I have found that a headphone extension cable might come in handy so that I don't have to sit too close to the TV when I have them plugged in to that.
I have found the sound quality on these headphones excellent so far and better than any other set of earphones I've owned, it feels like your wearing a pair of speakers on your head, I also find that I can have the sound turned up fully and people around me can't hear my music, this comes in handy if you want to listen to music and don't want people telling you to turn it down.
These headphones are also easily adjustable by shortening or lengthening the headband to fit different sized heads, this also makes them easy to store as the ear pads can be rotated up to 90 degrees to make them flatter.
Size and minor issues
The only thing I don't like about these headphones is that they look like they're too big for my head, this doesn't really bother me as I mainly use these while I'm at home or in the car (as a passenger), I also find that it's best not to wear them for too long as I find it gives me minor discomfort on my ears so I usually wear them for around an hour or two then I take them off.
*Excellent sound quality
*Easy to store
*Other people can't hear the noise from them
*Can be too quiet in noisy environments (volume boost comes in handy here)
*Can cause discomfort after wearing them for a while
I have owned these headphones for just over a month now and have enjoyed using them as the sound quality is miles better than some of the standard in ear headphones available for purchase, on that basis I will be giving them 5 DooYoo stars.
It was my birthday recently and one of the presents I received was a pair of these headphones from my partner. She bought them from Amazon and I have sneakily looked at the account for a price for this review and it was £10.19 including delivery. A massive bargin.
When it arrived it came in a hard plastic wrapper that you could see the headphones through, and was easy to open. The headphones have a long cable which is great as I can keep my iphone in my bag zipped away saftely and still have plenty of room to move my head around whilst listening to music. I have the white version, and the cable is also white, they are very stylish looking even whilst around my neck.
I use them not only to listen to my music but also to practice my piano. I have a separate jack in my piano and the end of the cable has a small jack that plugs into the end of that. Its able to handle the lowest and highest notes well without piercing my ears, as good as the speakers on the actual piano. Its also meant that I can practice late at night without any noise escaping from my ears or the piano.
When listening to music like house with a lot of bass in it you get a great stereo experience. I never have my earphones up so loud I cant hear what else is going on, and I have very sensitive hearing, but it still provides a great listening experience.
I have used complete noise cancelling headphones before but dont feel safe using these in public as its a very surreal experience, these are great as I can still hear the background noise of life around me if I want to, and people around me arent bothered by the noise in my ears.
They are light to carry and wear around your neck when not listening to them. They have the sony logo on each ear and dont look cheap at all.
I would say that if you are on a budget and hate in ear phones then try these as they are a great named brand, have amazing sound quality and are really comfortable to wear. They have an adjustable feature near the ears and have a padded layer on the ears, although the rest of the over the head part is hard. They are comfortable and fit perfectly on my head, without falling off, even when running.
They also arrived very quickly in a few days, without having to pay extra for the privilege apparently!
Admittedly these headphones were not my first choice as they were a last minute replacement for my coloud punisher headphones that broke unexpectedly. Being a student living independently I was a bit disappointed and was struggling to find the money to pay for some new ones, and I honestly couldn't go without any headphones since it takes me an hour a day travelling to university, and to be quite honest the journey would be unbearable without any!
The headphones are pretty basic looking, in my personal opinion they aren't particularly striking in design so they are not for those who are fashion and accessory conscious but they are very comfortable - which is the second most important factor for me. They are very lightweight, most likely due to the materials used, which may be the reason behind the low price of £20, but I believe this adds to the comfort of the headphones as they don't press down on your scalp or ears and don't hurt when you're wearing glasses either.
Unfortunately I found that the cable for the headphones was a bit shorter than most headphones, so instead of having my iPhone in my trouser pocket whilst listening to music, i'd end up actually putting my phone in the upper part of my jacket instead, which can be uncomfortable but the wire isn't long enough for me. But this might not be the case for everyone because ofcourse people are of different heights and shapes (I am 5ft 10 if this helps!)
Though the headphones are comfortable they don't actually sit snug against your ears, there's a lot of movement in the headphones and the cushioned area around the ears feels a bit loose, so I do sometimes get paranoid that I'm either going to drop them off my head or that my music can be heard by absolutely everyone. If you've tried makes such as sennheiser, beats by dre or skull candy then you'll notice the difference and know what I'm talking about in regards to the loose fitting.
Last point to mention about these headphones is the sound quality - they are nothing special in regards to the sound, they are pretty basic and don't provide any high definition sounds or enhanced bass and so on. But they are decent enough to listen to your favourite songs regularly, but of course again if you've experienced different makes of headphones like I mentioned beforehand then you will again be able to see the difference in the quality of sound.
I can't see myself giving the headphones a four star rating as I believe that is a bit generous, so I have given it three stars as the headphones are a decent purchase for such a low price but there are of course better ones available on the market for similar, if not the same price as these ones.
I bought these headphones as a replacement for my damaged Apple headphones that come with your iPhone or iPod just for a temporary replacement because they were on offer for £9.99 which is a very reasonable price for a pair of headphones especially with a brand name like Sony.
Before using the headphones the first thing you notice is the design and build of them. They definitely look the part considering the low price they have a fully plastic frame and then on each headphone they have a silver circle which has a strange sort of textured mirror effect on it which looks pretty cool. The problem I have though is that although the headphones look the part they definitely feel very fragile compared to others available but I suppose they have to keep the production value down to reflect in the low price but I definitely would be very careful putting them in a bag for a day or something like that. The next problem I have with the design is the wire not to do with the quality of it though but to do with the actual length for me it's literally about 5 cm too short if I was using it with my iPhone and I would put the phone into my trouser pocket there would be very little slack on the headphones and when I lift them off my head it would sometimes lift my phone out my pocket. The final problem I have with the headphones is the fit of them when you wear them they feel very loose when you have them on and I would find that with any sort of sudden head movement they could slip down and I tried all the different adjustments on each side and I still couldn't find a good point where it felt like it was sitting nicely against the sides of my head.
The final thing to mention is of course the sound quality the first thing I notice is the volume which seems to be very quiet I would find myself turning it up to double the volume that I would usually have my iPhone at just to achieve a good volume. For actual sound quality there definitely seems to be heightened treble accompanied by almost no bass at all even when adjusting the EQ settings it just seems that the bass is not there at all resulting in music sounding very flat and sometimes tinny.
I have given 3 stars purely because of the low price tag and the fact the design is nice.
I usually use earphones to listen to music because I don't like to disturb others. This is my first headphone; before this one, I wasn't a big fan of headphones as they tend to hurt my ears. However, I've been learning to play piano and as a beginner, my playing is at best abysmal so I decided to get headphones to practice piano according to my friend who's been playing piano ever since she learned how to talk. I was browsing amazon for headphones and I saw these headphones at 50% off and since they have good reviews, I decided to purchase them.
I got these for £17.50 from amazon.co.uk including delivery, and I thought that it's a very good price for headphones from Sony. These headphones comes in a variety of colours; mainly black ones with coloured ear plates and a white one with silver ear plates. The one I've got is a white one. The design of these headphones is pretty user friendly. The width/height of the headphones are adjustable but I have to say these headphones are pretty small. I've been told that I've got a small head and even I have to lengthen it to fit my head comfortably. It's got a standard mini gold-plated L shaped plug that fits most of the sockets in laptops, ipods, phones and so on. However I have to get an stereo adaptor plug to fit into the socket of my digital piano.
As for the comfort, the ear cups are circular and padded with a soft material. However, even my small ears get a bit uncomfortable after wearing these headphones for more than three hours. I usually have to adjust the headphones every 30 minutes at least to switch the pressure spots. It's the tip of my ears that get really hot and numb after a while mainly due to the shape of the ear cups. In my opinion, it would be better if the ear cups are oval shaped, but that's something I need to consider for my next headphones. However, despite what I've said, I can wear my headphone for three or four hours without major discomfort.
The sound quality of these headphones are pretty impressive for what I've paid for my headphone. The bass quality is not the best but it is of satisfactory quality and it does beat the bass quality of my apple earphones. I use my headphones for listen to music and when I watch movies on top of practicing piano, and this product is good for all these occasions. The length of the cord 1.2 metres, which is good enough for me for listen comfortably.
All in all, these are nice everyday headphones and gives the money's worth. It's is a good starter headphones and I've been using my headphones for about six months and I've had no problems so far. It's durable and the quality is consistent. I would recommend these headphones for casual use due to its affordable price and reliability.
Thank you for reading. :) x
When I wanted to get a new pair of headphones, my first priority was comfort. I have quite small ears and some of the smaller ear bud type headphones either don't stay in or are uncomfortable to wear. I have also tried some the over the ear sports versions with various success. Deciding that I wanted a larger set of headphones this time around I ended up with a pair of these Sony Headphones and I love them.
Admittedly these headphones do look a little chunky and they are definitely not the most discrete headphones I have owned, but they are among the comfiest. The ear pads are lovely and soft and well padded. I have also found that the headphones are comfortable to wear for quite long periods of time and still remain just as comfy. I was also surprised by how light the headphones are despite being quite chunky. It really is easy to forget you have these on after a while.
The cable length (1.2m) is pretty average for a set of headphones and I have never found the length to be a problem. But, then I don't use the headphones for much apart from listening to my iPod that is usually located in a pocket, or use the headphones at the computer while I am working.
I have found the sound quality of these to be good and they don't seem to bleed that much noise to the outside world. They don't really block out any background noise other than what you would expect from having larger headphones on, but that suits me as I usually still like to have a sense of background noise when I am out and about.
An added bonus, or certainly an aspect that I have grown to appreciate about these headphones, is the resemblance to earmuffs. They don't do as well a job as something designed specifically to keep your ears wind and cold free, but they do help to keep out the biting cold of Scottish winter days.
The Sony headphones are easy to store. The ear pieces rotate so that they can be stored flat, making it much easier to fit them into your bag or just for general storage because with the ear pieces flat the whole thing takes up much less room than you might suspect.
However, as much as I love these headphones they aren't perfect. The small setting fits me perfectly, but when my husband tried them on he found them too tight and quite uncomfortable, so I would recommend trying these before you buy. I bought mine from Comet and they had them on display with a range of others so I knew these fitted well before I bought them.
The only real thing I don't like about the headphones is the fact that you are forced to wear big SONY advertisements on each ear. On each of the outsides of the ear piece is a lovely dark silver design with the very visible word Sony. It is just a small point but I would rather have had a more discrete logo, than something so blatantly prominent.
I paid £30 for mine at the beginning of the year and considering how much I have used them and how much I still love them I think they have been worth every penny.
To sum, these Sony headphones are very comfortable, practical and easy to wear for long periods of time and as long as you don't mind the Sony label on each ear I would highly recommend these.
Five out of five stars.
I got these (in White) as a Christmas present after a pair of over ear Skull Candy headphones I had broke and started only playing in one ear, but I'll save that for another review.
The overall design and build quality of these headphones is great and typical Sony, i.e. they look and feel slightly better than they actually are, in white they look a little like the infinitely more expensive Dr. Dre Beats headphones. The ear pads are quite soft and comfortable for a while, after about an hour they do start to irritate my ears but that may just be a personal thing, they are still way better than some headphones I've used. They are also very adjustable, I feel I have quite a large head they fit me really well and don't feel stretched at all yet they also go pretty small to, the actual ear pads are on a swivel for maximum comfort and you can turn these sideways for slimline storage. The wire on the headphones is a decent length for everyday use and feels thick and great quality. Finally a very small but excellent detail which you may be able to see in the picture is that there is a small amount of red on the right hand side of the headphones near the ear pad which always reminds which way to put the headphones on and stops me looking like an idiot. It's only a small thing but I love the attention to detail that Sony have put into the design of this product.
My only negative point to make with these headphones is that it might have been good to have a volume adjuster on the wire of the headphones similar to those on the I-pod variety.
I own two pairs of these headphones due to me taking a music tech course last academic school year. They cost me £22 when I bought them new, I have noticed that now you can pick them up online for around £17, this is believe is good value for a Sony product. These are by no means the best headphones on the market. But for day to day use they are brilliant. I would not recommend them for mixing because I felt they werent easy to hear everything going on during the track you are working on.
The one thing that lets this product down for me is the bass level, I felt it wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. I do like a bit of bass, but this was lacking in that department. I know some people do not lot like a lot of bass, so I would recommend these for you if your into others styles if music where bass isn't very prominent.
They are however very comfy and produce a nice balanced sound, for mixing as I said earlier you should approach with caution. They sit on your head/ear nicely and don't dig into your face like a few of my old pairs did. They also look really nice, mine are black like the picture above, but you can buy other colours which are rather nice too.
I do not tend to use the much anymore because I have a new pair which were more expensive. But at the time when I didn't have a lot of money and I needed some headphones, these did the job and helped me pass my course! For the price you really can't complain, the only reason I found them not amazing was because the pair of headphones I had before these were far more expensive (I broke them :( sadly) so it was a step down for me. I still have kept them and use them occasionally, like when I go on holiday or on the train. There not huge on your head so you don't look funny with them on :)
Overall I would give them a 6.5/10. Not dreadful, but can get better. I would shop about and find something better! Sony are a well made brand and produce a lot of quality products. I have always bought Sony and will continue to do so.
Thanks for reading!
I walk to work and always have my ear bud headphones in my ears to sing along as I go, while they are not being used they are stored away in my handbag and are very rarely taken out, but they always seem to be getting damaged or lost, so I am always looking for a pair of headphones that are value for money, whilst also offering a quality sound.
I am regularly shopping around for a new cheap pair of headphones to keep at home as a spare set and this is when I came across these Sony MDR ZX300 and I thought that these would be perfect to use with my new Ipad and also for my long haul flight to Australia as I find the buds that you put into your ears for long durations can become very uncomfortable and end up hurting my ears after awhile. Although I also did not want to spend a large amount of money on a pair of headphones either.
The Sony MDRZX300 Black Outdoor headband headphones have a lightweight headband which can be adjusted to suit your individual preference and comfort and the cord is flat so that it's more durable than your standard headphone cable. It is also 1.2 meters long, which is great for when I am watching a film as I can place my ipad on its stand and still sit a distance from it with enough slack on the cable of the headphones without pulling the ipad over.
These headphones are able to deliver powerful bass and clear treble sounds, I opted for the black Sony headphones but they do come in a range of other colours so you can pick one to match your mp3 player or ipad.

I found that these headphones have a great sound and that they are also manufactured to the high standard that I have come to expect from the Sony brand name and all for under £20 made them even better. I normally wouldn't spend any more that £10 on headphones but as these were for headphones with a headband as opposed to in ear buds I thought that they were worth every penny and after using them for the past few months and they will be great for my trip.
They are really lightweight and are comfortable they have padding on the ears pieces for extra comfort and when I am using them I can hardly tell that I have them on.
I appreciate that there are probably better headphones on the market that offer a better sound quality but with the £20 price tag I cannot complain as I would not want to spend lot of money on headphones as I said I am always breaking or losing them so would be upset if I had spent over £100 and they were damaged whilst on holiday. I am glad that Sony have thought of their customers and designed some great looking headphones that work well and have catered for those that do not want to spend a lot of money.
Overall these were a great investment I do not use them for my daily trip to work as they are a little bulky to store in my handbag, but to use at home and for my trip they are perfect. The cable seems a lot stronger than any other headphones that I have purchased so hopefully as long as I do not lose them I should be using these for years to come with my ipad and iphone.
Able to deliver powerful bass and clear treble sounds, the MDR-ZX300 headphone comes with a metallic chassis and has a slim, folding design which is perfect for music lovers who enjoy strong beats and grooves while on-the-go.
