I have a pair of these headphones and I've had the for over a year and a half now, they'e never broken or anything at all. They're absolutely amazing and are great quality for their price. The noise that comes out of the headphones are amazing and makes everything sound so much better and louder. The headphones bring out the bassiness in different songs and if you're a rock or metal fan these headphones are highly recommended because it brings out the bass and the breakdowns in the songs. If you're an electronic fan these headphones are great for you too because of the bass drops really stand out. I highly recommend these headphones to anyone that really appreciates their music.

      a great set of headphones

      ~*~Why Skullcandy Lowrider?~*~

I received these gorgeous headphones for Christmas a couple of years ago and have been using them since. It's not that I think they don't do a good job, it's just uncomfortable to wear and doesn't have that snug fit factor. I use these as my spare headphones, which means they still get used but are not my first choice. If I am in my room at university & in first year, I had a room mate and had to share my room so whether or not I liked wearing these, they proved better than headphones for cancelling out some background noise in my room so I could skype in peace. Even for when I did have my own room, the corridors were noisy so these were a lifesaver then for when I just wanted some peace & to listen to something without interruptions. They are available for around £30 for a new pair, however I would debate paying this if I were buying it for myself as I think it is quite pricey, so I'm glad it was a Christmas present! I do not wear these out much because they are so bulky in the name of "candy", but I've seen bulkier versions. It is a unisex product, but I do think my brother suits his pair better, wearing them around his neck just because it completes his look/outfit.

      ~*~First Impressions & How it works~*~

My first impressions very positive about this product. Aesthetics wise, the pair of headphones are very sleek but sturdy and chucky at the same time. The product is shaped like a pair of earmuffs, in that it is like a headband with two big cups for each ear. The material on the cups attempts to have a snug fit around the ears and the headband is adjustable. It has a fairly good length for the cable but the cable itself is quite thin so I can imagine it being damaged if it gets into the hands/usage of younger children who might chew on it (the cable). The other end plugs into an audiojack of an Mp3 player, your laptop or any electronical equipment you can listen to music from.

The sound quality is pretty good and significantly better than headphones. The ergonomic fit is not the best, hence these went from my first to second choice headphones as I cannot wear them for long without my ears hurting but this might be because of my ear/head shape unless other people have experienced similar problems. I prefer to play my music out loud, but for when I want to really listen to the music, the headphones really help you pick up the subtle backing vocals or acoustic instruments so you can listen to stuff crisp & clear.

      ~*~To Summarise~*~

My pair are like those shown in the picture, except grey and black rather than silver and black. They came in a black silky pouch and even though I complain about not being able to wear them for very long, I still like them and use them as my second choice headphones (for which I must rate it one star less). They are compact and can be folded up into a smaller size if you want to tuck them away in your bag, and expandable so you can lend them to your friend with a bigger head, without them stretching! I would recommend this to anyone who wants their first pair of quality headphones in an affordable pricing range. For those want top sound quality and are willing to pay more, it might be worth trying the Dre beats range as a lot of people go for those but for me it doesn't matter as long as it's good enough - which Skullcandy Lowrider is!!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Excellent headphones and suitable for any head size

To keep my daughter entertained on a recent holiday flight I bought a pair of the Skullcandy Lowrider headphones so she could use my tablet to watch a movie or play games without disturbing other passengers.

Flying Ryanair with just hand baggage meant I wanted headphones that would pack up nice and small, but also a pair that would be adjustable so they would fit both adult and child size heads. These fit the bill on both counts. They can be folded to a remarkably small size and can be expanded to fit even the biggest head if needed.

In terms of the sound, I've been quite impressed considering the cost. At £25 they will never rival a top end model for sound quality but these are designed for use on the move and for when your out and about they perform really well by keeping out external noise and delivering a reasonably lively sound.

With nice soft padding they are very comfortable for use over a few hours, the only downside is I've found my ears get quite warm under them. Maybe I've just got particularly sweaty ears but I think they would benefit from a slightly different material for the cushioning.

On the whole they do their job really well and keeping the price in mind I don't think there are many options better than these.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

If young, prone to breaking headphones or looking cheap - YES If looking for good quality - NO

I brought my pair a few years ago now. Since then I have brought a couple of other product often more upmarket but of better quality. They are not awful headphones. They look pleasing and the wide range of colour choices make them widely available to all ages and both sex's. Typically you will see people between the ages of 10 and 15 wearing these. In my opinion that is the main positive. The product is also of low cost which is good if they are aiming this at youth, often around £30 in most shops or on-line.

The quality of sound itself isn't the best, at times sounding tinny or weak in places. The build quality of the product isn't something to boast about either, there is a constant rattle and they are not particularly comfortable after 20 minutes of use. The head phone isn't very tight to your head meaning it could slip off. It has a rather standard level of use, easily adjustable etc. as you would expect. They are comfortable up-to that 20 minute period but what kid is wearing them much more than 20 minutes?

After some constant use and the product holding up the headphones do start to deteriorate. Of course you would expect some wear and tear but when one ear cup suddenly starts tripping out and you loose half a song? I feel like the device could be easily improved.

Overall i must say I'm not a fan, but I don't hate the headphones. For young kids who are likely to break or mistreat headphones these are not a bad thing to get. they are affordable and are not awful quality. I will not purchase another set of Skullcandy headphones mainly because they do not function desirably with regards to sound.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

too expensive for what they are, should be way cheaper

I bought these headphones having seen them in a Billabong shop, thinking that they would be good because Billabong tends to stock good quality products. However I was very wrong.

The headphones themselves are aesthetically pleasing, but that's about the only good point. I have the blue and silver lowriders, which came with a skullcandy sticker and template for doing graffiti, which obviously sets a brilliant example for the younger users of these headphones. The packaging was difficult to open and I had to use scissors which meant that the shop might have been reluctant to take them back if I wanted to make a return.

The sound quality on the headphones is not that much different than a pair of headphones you would get cheaply for about £8. I found the quality to deteriorate as well when the headphones started to get older, and I had only had them for about 4 months when the headphone jack started to become unresponsive and crackly and the sound started to go bad. The headphones were not subjected to any sort of excessive use and were always stored carefully and I never pulled on the wires or swung the iPod around on the wires.

The decorative paint on the headphones started to chip off too, which just shows how bad quality they are. The headphones fold up to become more compact for storage, but you have to wind the wire around them and that gets tangled. The wire is too long as well, and it gets caught on things when you walk around unless you wind it around your iPod.

The worst headphones I have ever bought, would never buy again, would not recommend to anyone. I cannot believe I paid £30 for these.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Perfect for those who enjoy music to the max as they can be worn as an accessory.

I brought these headphones many years ago when everyone else was getting these style of headphones. They were well known for being good quality and for me it very much lived up to those expectations. They aren't just a product in which you just listen to sound through they are also an accessory. They look very attractive around your neck even when you're not wearing them. My favourite colour is blue so when I first heard about these headphones I knew that I had to get a Blue pair, though they come in many colours. They are easily adjustable so they fit any size head, so I wouldn't worry about them not fitting. I have mine slightly altered and they never feel too tight and they fit on my ears perfectly. Also, for me the lead is too long but I am a little bit short for my age and gender so I tend to wrap the wire around my IPod whilst it is in my pocket. I hate excess wire flailing around whilst I'm walking because I tend to get caught up in it. However, the length of the wire is really good if you're active, for example whilst at the gym.

The price of these bad boys when I first got them was £19.99 which is a very decent affordable price for these type of headphones. Of course, if you have the price for Sony then do it but why waste an extra £60 when these play sound at the same quality. I cannot stress how brilliant the sound quality is through these headphones. In relation to music drum and base sounds really good through these headphones and ultimately so does any music, but you get better quality through these than your standard inner ear headphones.

These headphones are also brilliant for storage. If you are tight for space in your household or like things to be kept nice and tidy, it might be worth folding them up. The ear peaces flip around and are able to be tucked in so they make one small compact circle. Afterwards, you are able to wrap the wire around this compact circle. I always slide mine away on one of the shelves in my wardrobe until I next need them.

A disadvantage, that I haven't experienced myself, is tat they break easy. I have had friends in the past where they have complained because there's have barely lasted a week, but I've had mine for just over 3 years and I have had no problems. They are in perfect condition, no signs of breaking and the music plays perfectly through them. Sometimes, when I plug them into my Laptop I find then even the minimal amount of sound is loud so I tend not to use them unless watching a quiet programme.

The bottom line is that I would definitely recommend this to anyone and that this product is strong and stable and well worth the money. To this present day the price has dropped but the quality hasn't, so I recommend that anyone who enjoys loud and distinct music should buy these.

            Disadvantages

In my opinion the excellent sound quality makes up for the faults.

I used to wear only in-ear headphones, but had problems with getting them to actually stay in my ear so switched to over-ear headphones instead. The Skullcandy Lowriders were the first over-ear headphones I bought, so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised.

I chose the Lowriders as they fold up easily making them much easier to transport and store and I liked the range of colours that were available. The cable is more than long enough to be comfortable and the sound quality is high for the relatively low price.

I got the Lowriders with the extra microphone, however I still haven't figured out how to actually use the mic - I've done what the instructions say but it still doesn't seem to work - perhaps a technical issue, I'm not sure. Also the headphones aren't a very good fit for me - they are adjustable but are simply too big to be entirely comfortable - they have a tendency to slip down and aren't practical to wear when I'm moving around.

Despite this I think the excellent sound quality makes up for the faults, and I would still recommend the Skullcandy Lowriders as a good value set of headphones.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Good value for money with great quality, but can be a bit of a pain!

I have had my Skullcandy Lowriders for around 3 years now, and I have not had problem with the durability of the product like others have said they have experienced. The cable shows no signs of wear, although it can become tangled and often gets snagged on things when being stored away. The length of the cable is slightly an issue as it is a bit short, but not much shorter than standard apple earphones so it shouldn't cause too much of a problem.

The sound quality of these headphones when considered with the price is very good - I have tried many, more expensive headphones which do not have the depth and quality of sound that these Skullcandys can produce. The volume can be greatly adjusted, and the sound does not become 'tinny' even at the highest volumes.

A major downside of these headphones, however, is the fit. After a few hours of wearing, they tend to become uncomfortable and start to feel tight against the ears, yet when first wearing them they feel loose as if they will fall off! The band seems to tug at my hair also, meaning I cannot use these headphones for an extended period of time.

All things considered, with Skullcandy Lowriders you get what you paid for - and more. Slight discomfort is worth it for the sound quality you get. I would recommend these headphones if you are looking for reliable, relatively cheap headphones for occasional use, however for more regular use, it may be better to invest slightly more money for headphones with a better, more comfortable fit.

                -

I have never been a fan of in ear headphones. I find them highly uncomfortable and get easily irritated when they keep falling out. Maybe I have unusual ear! Whatever it is, I don't see why people don't go for headphones like these. Ok so everyone would be walking around looking like the cybermen from Doctor Who but on the Brightside you won't go through that painfully embarrassing situation of talking to someone with earphones in and realising you're talking to yourself.

I got these for Christmas. Scratch that. My mum got these for Christmas and I like them and strangely disappeared into my room. I got them in a dark grey, black colour. I would have much preferred one of the more colourful, cooler patterns you can get with Skullcandy but thief's can be choosers.

The first thing that I liked about these headphones is how you can fold them up. I know most people don't like the idea of having them as they can take up quite a bit of room where as in ear phone can be scrunched up in the bottom of your bag so this really does come in great handy. It also makes it a lot easier to fold the wire around in order to stop tangling. Another reason to despise the in ear headphones! Tangling being a major pet peeve of mine, it's definitely worth the extra price.

The sound quality is good enough for me. I don't listen to music very loud so couldn't really give you great detail on how well they work for volume, nor do I listen to heavy rock, or dub step so I'm not going to be much help there either! However, my classical music plays well enough for me.

                Would I recommend them?

YES!! To anyone like me who can't stand the frustrating things that are the in ear headphones, go for these! Skullcandy is a well respected make and won't let you down.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

I would go for the in-ear headphones instead! Or else, a better quality brand.

                --What you get--
Old style headphones with an actual headset to be worn like a headband. The advantage of this style of headphones is that it can block out more exterior sound. This can also be a disadvantage when walking around and say, crossing the road!

                --Value for money--
I wouldn't say these are amazing value for money for reasons I will go into later!

                --Where to buy--
I bought mine from HMV and they are widely available at any HMV branch.

                --My personal opinion--
I was originally impressed by the quality of sound from these as music sounds somewhat clearer compared to the in ear variety. The main problem I found with these was portability. They do have a useful folding mechanism but I am often concerned about the delicate design and the fact that this may damage the quality of the headphones by stuffing them in a bag as I would usually do with headphones. The sound quality seems to have deteriorated from when I first bought them and a problem I have noticed with these is the large amount of sound pollution, when you are not particularly keen for the whole bus to hear your music! As soon as you turn it up a little bit, this is evident. The sound quality isn't bad but gets worse over time (possibly after the stuffing them in a bag!) Another thing is you can't share your music with your mates as you could do with the in ear headphones! (this is useful if you're on a long coach or car journey so I did miss this once I started using them.)

These are my back up headphones, ones I will only really get use out of when I can't find my regular headphones or my usual headphones are broken. They have lasted, but I haven't used them loads!

Also you look plain ridiculous in a bright white pair of these. Perhaps the infinitely more expensive Beats are more stylish...

To summarise, these are annoying to carry about with you but are fairly well designed and quite stylish if you are into that kind of thing!
Three stars - they are okay but I probably wouldn't buy them again.

When anyone goes to purchase a pair of headphones, the main obvious driving force when looking for a product is the sound quality provided, and quality of sound is definitely something you get will Skullcandy headphones. I found that when using these headphones, I didnt have to have to volume level turned up too high, as because you get added protection due to the covering on the speakers, you can hear clearly any music played, without having the constant interruption of your surroundings, like people talking on a bus for example. After my old, more expensive headphones broke after a short period, I didnt really want to pay too much for a new set, so was surprised after purchasing these Lowrider headphones for only £30, and still receiving the sound quality I did.

They have lasted my a couple of months now, and because I use them extensively, I not sure they will be a permenant set of headphones as the cost was so low, they will break, I sure of it, but for the time being, I really pleased with the product, it does everything I expected. They are quite bigger, but that doesnt really matter, as the quality is exception. These headphones definitely get my recommendation, and with the price so low, you cant really go wrong. Thanks for reading.

Good headphones, but not used to wear and tear

I recieved the Skullcandy Lowerider headphones for christmas, I was amazed at the clarity and sound quality I got from the headphones. The quality of the headphones was tremendous as well as blocking out external sound, the headphones kept sound in, meaning other people no longer had to listen to my music. As well as looking good and stylish, the headphones are very lightweight and extremely comfortable, unlike a lot of over ear headphones I had previously tried. To my dismay I was soon disappointed when the headphones broke not long after getting them, first the sound deteriated and soon one of the headphones did not play sound atall, eventually neither headphone worked. This was within a month of recieving them and was covered by the warranty however not long after recieving a brand new pair of Skullcandy Lowrider headphones, the new headphones also broke. I would recommend these headphones on sound quality however they are not very durable.

                .

out shopping in the January sales winter 2011, I heard HMV had a massive sale on, so having a scout around, noticed lots of red sale stickers in the technology section, so i scampered over and to my delight a lot of their Skull candy headphones were on sale, I couldn't pick which ones I wanted as I had my eye on a few, but I had my heart set on a pair of these and a bought some of the normal in your ear skull candy earphones at the same time. This particular pair without the sale price is £34.99 but on sale they were only £20 so I just had to buy them. These low riders come in many colours like red, black, blue but I bought the pink pair simply because I had black hair the time and thought it would look good.

The strap is made of a cushioned material to fit comfortable on your head and plastic down the sides, with black PVC pads for your ears, with plastic on the outside with the skull candy logo on both sides, the plastic is whatever colour you have chosen to buy, these to me are very styling and look pretty cool when wearing them, they remind me of a very retro time, like on movies when you see roller skaters they always have these sort of headphones [not skull candy obviously] One of the best things about the low rider is they are collapsible, with headphones this size it would seem off putting to come people because it wouldn't be easy to carry around in your bad or pocket, but these fold in on themselves until they are almost flat making it easier to slot into your bag with no problem. It has quite a long wire on these and the Jack plug casing is the same colour as the headphones.

I have to say it, these are very noticeable when you are wearing them, with one in my ears I can sometimes forget I have them in, but not with these bad boys, they are a little heavy at first but it is something you get used to, they're probably best for just mooching around and not for gym or exercise use such as running, that wouldn't be helpful at all running with these on your head.
With these on, everything around you sounds muffled such as the traffic, people on the bus, which I love because I hate hearing screaming kids over my music, it kind of defeats the point of having music on, on the bus, so these do help with that, it also means you don't need to have your Ipod up full blast either because you can hear it better. Also because it is tight to your ears having it up load doesn't affect other people because they can hardly hear it so you don't get other people complaining which is good. As for the sound quality it is brilliant and crisp, The music and words are very clear without it being distorted at any time and is brilliant for bass-y songs such a Pendulum, really good if you are on a mission to get somewhere fast.

Overall I do think the price is too much, but it is a top brand in the headphone industry and you cannot expect any less, I probably wouldn't of bought them if they wasn't on sale but may of done if the price dropped a little, I've had mine for almost a year now and they still work perfectly despite me useing one or twice everyday without fail, the sound quality has not deteriorated and they have no wear or tear to them as yet, this is a very good quality pair of headphones.

                  Great headphones, highly recommend

I have a pair of these in yellow that I bought for £20 and I haven't even had them a year yet. The sound quality is amazing, even without playing music through them everything around you is muffled and quieter. Music through these headphones are fantastic, it's so clear and the bass is great - you don't need to turn the music up so loud to hear it and you don't need to worry about other people hearing your music either if you're travelling somewhere. Only if you turn the music up all the way can you hear it outside of the headphones - or you'll go deaf!

Personally I choose not to travel with them, I use them for home purposes. I do things such as video editing which requires music the majority of the time, and these headphones are brilliant for that usage alone because I'm not annoying my family with a repetitive song, and wearing them throughout this process keeps my concentration intact. They're great for making sure you don't get distracted.

The only problem I have with my pair of headphones is the jack lead, I have to twist it a certain way to get the sound through both sides, but that might be down to a faulty pair - however, it's not enough for me to send them back, once I've got the sound through both sides it doesn't falter afterwards. They fold up nicely and can be tucked away safely in my draw, too.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

I wouldn't recommend this I'd stick to in-ear or solid non-folding types in the future!!

I recently bought a pair of these on line, The sound is brilliant - and you don't become one of those annoying people on the train ( playing music so loud you can hear it in the next carriage) as the earpieces are very well made ... but the design of the actual headphones are terrible ( my own broke quite easily ). Even though it folds up it's still quite bulky for bags . It doesn't come with any type of protective case so constantly gets crushed by other objects in my bag . I had to buy another brand of headphone case to fit it but still couldn't find a suitable one to fit the unusual folded dimensions . These headphones are completely made of plastic and I felt It wasn't sturdy enough considering It always had to folded for travel with or having to constantly wear it round my neck ( which I obviously cannot do at work !!)
I wouldn't recommend these as I feel even though the sound is perfect the actual design is seriously lacking !
