A lovely small cross over body bag

Everyone loves a bargain and as much as I hate sales in store simply because I can abide women desperate to make a saving whilst grabbing, shoving and pulling at clothes. However, the internet is a wonderful thing and I can now browse the sale selection via the web making it much easier for me to get a bargain! The Debenhams sale is always a downfall of mine generally because I find so many items I could quite easily buy but generally have to restrain myself!

However, this summer sale at Debenhams I have treated myself to a few new items one being the yellow debossed cross body bag by Butterfly the label owned by Matthew Williamson. I am not normally a lover of anything yellow but something about this bag really caught my attention whilst browsing online. Normally I opt for big bags but there are times when I just need something small and light to carry a few things around with me and this seemed to tick a few boxes.

The yellow bag from the Butterfly by Matthew Williamson designer handbag range was originally priced at £85.00 but is now in the Debenhams sale at a far more budget friendly price of £19.50. Personally, I wouldn't have paid £85.00 simply because I know it is a designer brand which warrants a higher price tag anyway and I'd have wanted something a little more for my money and that is simply because of the size of the bag.

The bag is made from 100% leather which of course bumps the price up anyway but what I liked about it was the leather is incredibly soft already and does indeed have that lovely leather smell. The strap which goes around your body and over your shoulder is also leather. The main pattern is the leather is embossed with a floral type print which seems to have quite a retro feel to it. The leather itself is quite a mustard yellow colour which is much more type of colour rather than an in your face bright yellow which had raised a small concern when buying online.

The inside of the bag features a gorgeous multi coloured print lining which again as quite a retro feel to it especially the colours used (fuchsia pink, teal, brown etc) but it really does give this bag a lovely design feature. There is also an inside pocket which is closed by a colour co-ordinated zip, the inside pocket is actually quite a decent size for all those little items that you don't want rattling around your bag. There are also two pouches on the side (made out of the lining material) which will easily accommodate your mobile phone or keys.

The bag's overall size is 19cm x 28cm x 11.5cm which for me was an ideal sort of size for what I was wanting to carry just a few things around rather than take a huge bag around with me. The front of the bag features a mock buckle it is actually fastened with a popper/magnetic type fastening. The strap which goes around your body is adjustable with a buckle so you can adjust it to make it as comfortable as possible. I guess the favourite part of the bag apart from the gorgeous lining is the multi-coloured pom pom charm which is attached to the end of the bag by a clip.

I bought my bag about a month and a half ago and it has been used regularly since just because I find it so handy. I can easily fit my large purse, blackberry, pen, a few lip glosses as well as other bits and pieces and still have a little room left over. Even though the leather was originally soft to begin with it doesn't seem to stretch with use and wear which I did wonder whether it but so far it is still just as supple and hasn't lost its shape at all and that includes the strap aswell.

I find this such a handy sized bag for every day use and very pleased I managed to get it at such a low price considering it is so well made and the quality of the leather is great. I have a feeling the cute charms attached will be the first thing to become worn as I think the pom pom threads will start to come out over time but that is hardly a big gripe about the bag! I would quite happily buy another one of these bags if they did a different colour! For me, a definite recommendation and even more so at the sale price. Despite loving it I still wouldn't pay £85.00 for it so for that reason I am only awarding the bag 4 stars.
