The full 5 stars from me

I had read a lot of reviews about the Carex strawberry laces handwash and thought it was a quirky idea that we'd all love. I usually buy Carex handwashes anyway so I just swapped my usual one for this one instead. It came from Tesco and cost 90p (usual price £1.90). For that, I received 250ml of handwash. It comes in the same way as other carex handwashes - in a transparent bottle with a pump lid at the top to dispense the liquid through. The handwash is a dark pink colour which clearly shows through (easy to know when it's runnng out). I thought the colour may put my husband off it but as he loves all types of sweets I thought the scent of it would overrule it's bright girly colour! The scent of this handwash is more like strawberry laces than I ever imagined it would be. To me, it smells exactly the same which personally I love as it's beautiful and sweet. I wouldn't call the scent subtle as it's fairly noticeable although by no means overpowering in any way. But others who have used it, both my husband and relatives who have visited, haven't been quite so convinced by the scent. Some have said it's just ok and nothing special when I've asked them what they thought. One thing I really like is that the scent lasts quite a while after use - I'd say I can still smell a whiff of the strawberry an hour after using and that's from even using a very small amount. Just one pump from the bottle lathers up enough to wash my hands amply in most cases, apart from times I've got very dirty hands from the garden etc when a couple of squirts is needed. A bottle lasts us quite some time. I'd say for the two of us (little one is too young to use it yet) plus visitors every now and again, we get through one bottle in around 3 to 4 weeks which I think is pretty good for 90p! I mentioned that I swapped this bottle from my usual carex handwash which is actually their sensitive handwash as I have previously ended up with dry skin on my hands from using normal ones in the past. However, with the small amounts I use each time of this strawberry laces one, I haven't found this to be the case really. They have dried a little, but not in any significant amount. I doubt I would swap to this one all of the time as I think prolonged use would start to dry them out more and more, but I would certainly continue to purchase this as a one off, as and when I fancy a change because it doesn't seem to have caused me many issues. It does state on the bottle that it contains added moisturiser so that has probably helped me. As with the majority of carex handwashes, this also states to kill 99.9% of bacteria which is something I look out for, just for peace of mind. Obviously it's not something I can check is correct but my hands always feel fresh and adequately cleaned afterwards. I would recommend this one to anyone who loves the scent of sweet things - the strawberry scent could be deemed a little artificial but I like it and it's definitely one I'd buy again, at least when it's on offer. Thanks for reading :o)

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Great for little and big kids

My daughter loves to wash her hands, she is forever getting messy her hands are always covered in various things. I wanted a wash that was attractive and appealing to her. Normally I buy what is on offer and this time it was Carex. These washes cost £1 in Asda at the moment they are normally around £2. The bottle is like any other hand wash it has a pump action dispenser. The bottle is clear and through this you can see the pink clear hand wash. The bottle has a picture of the Carex blob from the adverts along with some strawberry laces. Carex is an anti bacterial hand wash, I prefer washes with these properties as I am conscious of germs around the home. Carex has been proven to kill 99% of germs it also simulates the skins natural defences against germs protecting them between washes as well as moisturising the skin. You use the hand wash like any other simply pump a squirt or two into the hands and massage under warm running water before rinsing thoroughly and drying. The hand wash has a lovely colour and my daughter tells me it's hers. The wash is quite thick so I find a pump is enough to get a decent lather. The wash smells really nice exactly like strawberry sweets. My daughter tells me she likes the smell and that it's a strawberry. After using this wash my hands a feel nice, clean and soft. The smell doesn't longer for too long which is a shame as it's really nice. I like using this hand wash as I know it is killing germs as well as protecting my hands while smelling nice and looking good in the bathroom. We have all three washes in this range including the cola bottles and chocolate orange which is my least favourite. A bottle lasts us a few weeks with several washes a day. I would recommend this either for kids or people who like sweet smells encouraging children to wash their hands can only be a good thing. 5 stars.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Good value when purchased on offer

I do a lot of cooking, so naturally I like to make sure that I begin with clean hands, as well as obviously washing my hands between handling raw and cooked items. I prefer not to use soap as I find it leaves soapy smears all over my stainless steel sink, so I tend to use pump action handwashes. I tend to just buy whatever brand happens to be on offer, or has an appealing scent, and when I saw this Carex Strawberry Laces, on sale in Tesco at just 90p for 250ml, named after a favourite childhood sweet, and a gorgeous vibrant pink in colour, I knew this was the product to grace my kitchen sink! The fact that the bottle claims to kill 99.9% of bacteria doesn't hurt either. I'm not going to go into an awful lot of detail about the packaging, after all there is an excellent picture of the product above the review. However, I did find the pump action dispenser very handy, though, as usual, it took me a second to figure out how to turn it to open, as I never can read the writing embossed into the plastic. The pack also advises that there is also a chocolate orange hand wash in the same sweet treats range, but I can't say I noticed it on the shelves. Pushing down the pump dispenses a small amount of the pretty pink gel into my palm. Personally, whilst I think one squirt might be enough for little hands, I like to use two for mine, just to make sure I'm getting properly clean. Having a quick sniff, you really can smell the strawberries, it's a bit of an artificial strawberry smell rather than smelling natural, but then I suppose it is based on the sweet so a good match really. The gel is quite thick, not really runny at all, and lathers up really nicely into a bit of a white froth, which rinses off easily leaving my hands clean and delicately scented. The scent lasts for perhaps half an hour (unless I chop something strong smelling) and I've never had an issue with it transferring to food I'm preparing. Best of all, no white soap marks around my sink. A bottle of this lasts me around 3/4 weeks. Given that this is by the kitchen sink and is used easily 10 times a day by me, never mind everyone else in the house at mealtimes, or on coming in from outside, I think this is a fair amount of time. I don't know if I'll buy this particular one again - I did find it very pleasant, but it does depend on whats on offer at the time, and I also rather want to keep an eye out for the chocolate orange flavour!

A sweet scented hand wash that encourages children to wash their hands

I was delighted to discover that Carex had introduced a new range of 'Family Favourites' hand washes, designed to appeal to children and adults alike. Included in the range is a really gorgeous and authentic 'Chocolate Orange' variety and also a fun, vibrant pink ' Strawberry Laces' version. Unfortunately this new range of 'Family Favourites' was not stocked in my local (large) Morrisons store or in Wilkinson's where I tend to buy household items such as this. I eventually managed to buy some in a large Tesco store where I paid the full RRP of £1.80 for a 250ml pump action bottle of each variety. I'd like this range to be more widely available to enable me to purchase this on a regular basis. The hand wash is presented in the familiar Carex style with an easy to operate pump action helping to dispense the liquid soap inside in a steady flow. One pump is a pretty accurate amount needed for handwashing, helping to minimise waste. I do like this slim and easy to store format of hand wash and like that the transparent plastic container makes it easy to keep track of how full or empty the bottle may be. With this variety, the packaging also makes the most of the vibrant pink contents, making this a surprisingly attractive dispenser that still functions well. Just as with its Chocolate Orange counterpart, I've been totally blown away by the authenticity of the fragrance. It is amazing just how well this beautiful bright pink hand wash captures the fragrance of strawberry laces. My kids and husband have a bit of an obsession with the real thing so I have lots of opportunity to compare this hand wash with the popular sweets. Whilst I've used strawberry fragranced hand washes before, this does not actually smell like most strawberry flavoured products, it really emulates that slightly sickly, sweet scent of artificial strawberries. There is only a very faint kind of chemical aroma that I can detect when the hand wash is first squeezed onto my hand, but this disappears quickly as I lather up the hand wash and leaves behind a lovely fruity sweetness. The scent isn't overpowering or all that noticeable after washing but there is still a residual sweetness and a faint whiff of strawberries that is quite reassuring. (It also enables me to catch the kids out if they claim to have washed their hands before meals when they haven't!) I find the hand wash to lather up easily well with just a little warm water. It rinses off easily and doesn't leave behind any residue or any sense of greasiness or stickiness. Crucially, having dry and sensitive skin around my fingers, this hand wash has not irritated my hands at all and does not dry my skin out, no matter how frequently I have reason to wash my hands. This also offers the usual Carex reassurance of being an anti-bacterial wash, claiming to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria (although I do always wonder about that missing 0.1%!) I must admit, out of the two Family Favourite varieties, 'Strawberry Laces' doesn't quite live up to the beauty of the Chocolate Orange version. My kids, however, much prefer this one and I find it a fun and inexpensive way to encourage them to wash their hands more frequently than they might otherwise do, even if it does also make them crave sweets at the same time! I'll happily repurchase this variety although I would prefer it to be stocked in all the main supermarkets, as other Carex products are. This is currently on a half price promotional offer at Tesco so I'll certainly be stocking up when I get the opportunity and would recommend that you do the same, particularly if you have dirty young children to look after.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            a treat for the family

~Carex Hand Wash~ Carex is a range of hand washes offered by Cussons. They recently released a range of hand washes which are aimed at families. As well as the Chocolate Orange release, there is also a hand wash which replicates the scent of Strawberry Laces! The Strawberry Laces hand wash contains an advanced formula which rids your hands of 99.9% of bacteria in seconds. This hand wash is enriched with added moisturisers and is dermatologically tested. It is said to support the skin's natural antibacterial defenses and be family friendly. This hand wash is presented in a clear, curved edge bottle with a pump dispenser. To compliment the Strawberry Laces title, there is a picture of strawberry laces and the actual hand washing liquid is pink! After you are finished with this hand wash, the bottle can be recycled. This product has a 18 month shelf life. ~Price and Availability~ Strawberry Laces hand wash can be bought in supermarkets and other highstreet stores. A 250ml bottle retails around £1.80 and is currently on a '2 for £2.00' offer at Tesco. ~My Thoughts~ We go through a lot of hand wash in our home due to me having a slight OCD about dirty hands or sticky hands. Luckily my boy is a clean boy and always has been but a good stock of hand wash is needed to keep me happy and also for anyone using after going to the toilet or handling food. I don't normally buy Carex as I haven't been overly impressed with any of their other offerings. I couldn't resist trying this hand wash though as I love the smell of strawberry laces. I believe I paid £1.00 for my bottle a few weeks ago at the supermarket and it has resided in our bathroom since I brought it home. The packaging is nothing special but perfectly functional. We haven't had any issues with the pump dispenser and even our four year old son can use it without any help. I can see how this would appeal to both children and adults and it is definitely a good way of encouraging children to wash their hands. The hand wash itself has a gloopy, liquidy consistency and only one or two pumps is required per use which makes this a long lasting hand wash. It states on the bottle to wash your hands with this hand wash and warm water for at least 15 seconds - I don't time but do give my hands a right good wash each time! This hand wash lathers up well and when mixed with warm water it offers a soft, creamy lather. The scent of strawberry laces isn't overpowering or sickly but smells absoutely gorgeous and decadently sweet. It brings back memories for me and my son is fan of the scent despite not liking fruity sweets in general. It is a fun scent which is much more pleasant than some of the other scents that Carex offer. The lather rinses well and my hands are left clean and refreshed. A subtle, sweet aroma lingers on my hands for a short while. I am no scientist but I will take the promise of 99.9% bacteria being removed as being correct. I can rest assured that my hands are left in a hygenic state after each wash. I have quite dry, sensitive hands and whilst I haven't experienced any reaction to using this hand wash, my hands are not left feeling moisturised. I still need to apply some hand lotion or hand cream after each wash or my hands feel a tad on the tight side. My sons hands remain soft though. ~Conclusion~ Overall I like this hand wash. My son finds it fun to use and that is important for me as it encourages and reminds him to clean his hands after going to the toilet. It definitely lacks moisturising agents in my opinion so this claim isn't satisfied. Our bottle is lasting well and it has worked out good value for money. 4 stars Thanks for reading :)

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Nice enough though not my fav from the range!

When it comes to hand wash its something I like to keep to keep in my bathroom and in my kitchen. I hate scummy bits of soap looking mushy and unhygienic around and about the place and a bottle of hand wash I always thinks looks better. This one I bought not only cos it was on offer in my local Asda store for Pound opposed to usually costing £2.00 a bottle if not on a deal but because it is pink as well which is the colour scheme for my bathroom which is why I bought it for there! I do like matching things and with my mum coming round to see me I wanted it to look as nice as possible! The Packaging: `This comes in one size only as far as I am aware of and that size is 250ml and it comes in a squarish shape with a lever style push button dispenser to the top if it which does switch to an off and on position. On the front of the bottle we are told that it is Cussons Carex Strawberry Laces Hand Wash 'Kills 99.9% of bacteria and then on the back of the bottle we are told a bit about the product and how to use it, the ingredients and the size is stated (as I have listed already) and contact details for PZ Cussons are given (the manufacturer of the product of course!). I like being able to see through the bottle so I know when I need to grab some more hand wash and I like the way this also has a slight indentation to the middle of the bottle for ease of handling and do feel that this is a very informative product too. Using It: We are told on the back of the bottle to use just a couple of pumps of this per application and to wash your hands for at least 15 seconds to get the best results from it. The liquid is a light pink see through colour when applied and rather runny with a nice hint of a sweet strawberry fragrance to it though I didn't think this was highly fragranced enough as in my opinion this is aimed at children but it is nice enough and quite sweet in fragrance. It lathers up very nicely though not too much so and is easy to rinse off and the hands are left looking clean and with a very subtle sweet smell to them however it is isn't particularly a strawberry fragrance left lingering really just sweet and that soon wears off really . However having said that this leaves my hands feeling clean and very soft with no need to go rushing off to use a hand moisture cream or anything. It doesn't leave any residue on the hands and like I say they simply feel fresh and smooth.. This is meant to kill off bacteria and this is where I can't vouch for the product cos of course I have no way of knowing if it does that however I feel confident that this is a claim made by a brand I trust so I believe it to be true in this case. You don't need too much of this per application, the push button lever is easy enough to use I just felt a bit disappointed at the scent not being as nice as I imagined it to be but it matches my bathroom and my skin feels nice after using it so although I wont go out of my way to buy this particular hand wash again due to the scent of it I wouldn't avoid it like the plague either but I will be looking for other scents from within this range in the future! Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc.

              Disadvantages

A lovely PINK handwash which protects the skin

If you have read some of my reviews then you will have quickly realised I do have OCD. I'm very much obsessive around my home and more in terms of everything has to match. Therefore, for example my ensuite is completely white in terms of tiles, sink and toilet but all my towels are between plum and fuchsia pink and with that it means that any accessories need to be the same colour. A bit sad but it makes my life work a lot easier when everything matches! Even worse it means that my liquid soap has to match! I can't have just another liquid hand wash in my ensuite it needs to colour match my towels, vase and even my toothbrush holder! So trying to find a pink hand wash isn't the easiest of tasks and my last pink hand wash from Original Source was awful so the hunt continued. A month or so ago I was browsing in my local Tesco and came across the new Carex range called 'Family Favourites' and right in the middle of the self there was Carex Strawberry Laces and of course it was bright pink which would obviously match my towels! Carex is widely known for its wide selection of antibacterial hand washes and handgels but back in 2010 they undertook a survey along with a group of children from a Manchester school to see what 'flavour' hand wash they would like. The top answers were Choco-Orange and Strawberry Laces. Of course, Strawberry Laces is bright pink in colour and is completely clear in colour and of course really does stick out on the shelf in the store. The Carex Strawberry Laces Hand wash is no different to the others as it still comes in a clear plastic bottle which is slightly curved at the sides and is finished off with a pump action top. On the front of the bottle there is the Carex logo together with an image of a strawberry together with strawberry laces next to the product name as well as two blue characters which I can only assume to be images of germs! On the back of the bottle there is all the usual information one would expect such as how to use the product, list of ingredients and any warnings. Sadly I was quite excited to use this hand wash as I did used to love strawberry laces and I actually still do should a packet sneakily find its way in my shopping trolley! To get the pump to work you just simply turn the top until it pops up completely as before you untwist it you can't press down on the top. As soon as the hand wash comes out onto your hand it still keeps that bright pink colour and it has a decent consistency more like an antibacterial hand gel as it manages to stay on your hand without being completely washed away. I am not normally a fan of synthetically fragranced products especially those that have a fruit aroma as normally they are quite sickly and offputting. Carex Strawberry Laces is no exception to the fruity aroma but it certainly does have a smell of strawberry laces and not in a sweet sickly way but in quite a nice, calorific way! The fragrance is incredibly similar to that of actual strawberry laces and certainly makes a nice change from other hand washes. The hand wash lathers up nicely once diluted with water and it provides a decent amount of white lather which is lovely and soft. Of course the strawberry laces aroma isn't as strong once it has been mixed with the water but it is still present and does linger for quite a while both in the bathroom and on your hands even when washed off and hands dried which is definitely quite nice. One thing I do find with perfumed handwashes is that it can be quite drying on the skin especially on skin that can be quite sensitive like mine. Fortunately my skin hasn't been irritated by this hand wash whatsoever and I have found it to be quite soothing. My skin has certainly had no adverse reactions or any irritations which is definitely a plus. I have always found Carex hand washes to be incredibly gentle on the skin and this is no different. It does also claim to eradicate 99.99% of germs and bacteria but for obvious reasons I can't tell whether it does or not but like to trust the brand's claims. Overall, this is a fun and fruity hand wash which adds a bit of silliness into any bathroom and now my ensuite! This cares and looks after your hands and has a delightful aroma which is calorie free! I'm guessing it is a limited edition so won't always be available but should you want to try it then head down to your local Tesco and pick up a bottle. A recommendation from me! 5 stars! ~ Useful Information ~ Brand: Carex Size: 250ml Availability: Tesco only it seems Price: On offer at £1 per bottle
