I used to be an Avon rep and loved the Senses range, when I saw the handwashes be released I expected them to be really good just like the shower gels so bought a couple without even trying one.
The product comes in a see through plastic bottle with a pump top on it, the pump top is cerise pink as is the liquid inside which to me is a really pretty colour and really brightens up the bathroom.
To use the product you simply twist the pump to open and then after a few pumps the soap will begin dispensing, it did take a fair few pumps when we opened the bottle but after that the pump worked perfectly.
You only need one pump of the soap to sufficiently wash your hands as an adult which is great as you don't use the bottle very quickly but also makes it easy for my daughter as she knows that one pump is enough for her hands after using the toilet. The soap smells gorgeous, it has a slight flowery smell but a sort of exotic twist to it too which is very hard to describe.
The soap is pretty thick but aslong as your hands are properly wet it lathers up really well and makes me feel that I am giving my hands a really good clean. The soap rinses off my hands easily but as my daughter has smaller hands we have found that a pump of the soap is actually a little too much so she ends up with too much lather and therefore it takes longer to rinse off her hands.
After using this product my hands feel nice and soft and I don't find it drying at all, there are no claims of any anti-bacterial qualities from this handwash and therefore I am only rating this 4 stars. If you want to purchase this product it will cost you about £2 a bottle however if you wait you will find it often goes on offer.
~Mystique Liquid Soap~
This liquid soap is part of the Senses range that Avon offer. A matching shower gel is also available. Avon describe this liquid soap as being 'sensual and romantic'. This liquid soap is presented in a simple yet functional curvy bottle which is made of clear plastic and complete with a bright pink pump dispenser. The label adorning the bottle illustrates a Paris city scene.
~Price and Availability~
A 300ml bottle is available from www.avonshop.co.uk or through the brochure priced at £2.00.
We go through a lot of hand wash in our home as I have a slight OCD with ensuring my hands are thorougly clean and free from germs or stickiness! This combined with my overly enthusiastic (with pump dispensers) toddler son and messy fiance requires me to keep a good stock of hand wash. We prefer liquid hand wash as it is more hygienic that bars of soap and ultimately less messy.
I have been using the Senses liquid soaps for a few years now and sometimes buy when they are reduced to £1.00 or £1.50. £2.00 is still a good price to pay for 300ml of liquid but I never buy any hand wash at full price as there is always a bargain to be hand. My Gran is also a fan of this collection of liquid soaps and stockpiles them. Last month when I visited she offloaded a bottle of Mystique liquid soap which we went on to use in our bathroom. The pink liquid is unlikely to appeal to men but the boys in my home aren't fussed by what colour of liquid soap they use to be honest!
The pump works well and releases a good sized and sufficient blob of this runny gel onto my hands. I find one pump sufficient for regular hand cleaning but two or three if my hands are dirty or if I have been cleaning and want to give my hands an extra thorough clean. This liquid soap lathers up beautifully and forms a thick, foamy layer on my hands. It feels incredibly soft and cleansing against my dry skin. The skin on my hands is sensitive but I have experienced no irritation from using this liquid soap. My son finds it pleasant to use and it is kind to his delicate skin and therefore I consider it to be family friendly.
The scent of Mystique liquid soap is one I consider to be quite perfumed and is a lovely feminine aroma. It is a lovely, deep floral scent which comes through beautifully as the liquid lathers up on my skin. It doesn't last long once my hands have been dried though which is disappointing for me but not so much for my boys as they don't want to be smelling too girly! Whilst I find that this liquid soap doesn't dry out my hands further, I still feel the need to apply my regular hand cream for a bit of extra moisturisation. I have been pleased by how clean, soft and refreshed my hands feel after each use and it performs well at removing any dirt or cooking smells from my hands.
One 300ml bottle lasts well as a little blob of this liquid soap goes a long way. I find this to be a pleasant liquid soap to use on a daily basis but I do prefer something a little more moisturising and pampering such as Dove or L'occitane. It is a family friendly option though and one which is worth stocking up on when it is reduced. It won't appeal to all but is a nice addition to any bathroom or kitchen sink in my opinion.
Thanks for reading :) x
WHAT IS IT?
A hand wash from Avon's Senses range, I have the Mystique hand wash but there are several others to choose from to suit everyone's tastes.
A deep pink pump action bottle with a pink label showing a Parisian scene by lamplight.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
You pump out a small amount of hand wash into your wet hands and massage into and around the skin until clean. Rinse and dry your hands or repeat with the hand wash if your hands were very dirty to start with.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
For a cheap hand wash this is effective at cleaning my hands. It's a thick gel that lathers quite well but the lather it produces is very thin and doesn't last long while you're washing your hands, this doesn't mean it cleans badly but it feels very standard with no luxury feel at all. This hand wash cleans my hands effectively and quickly.
The smell is very pretty but has been tainted by the plastic smell of the bottle and that spoils it, the hand wash has a flowery smell that reminds me of the fragrance Guerlain use for their face cream. It's very nice but isn't a very clean smell for a hand wash and I think it's more suitable for a shower gel or bath product. The smell doesn't last on my skin after rinsing anyway so it doesn't matter.
A lot of Avon products make my skin very dry but this one isn't too bad, I don't have to use a hand cream after washing my hands but the skin on my palms starts feeling tight sometimes if I have to wash my hands a lot over a short period of time.
3 Dooyoo Stars.
In general I am quite a big fan of the Avon Senses range and with my mother being an Avon rep I try a lot of the products out. When my last hand wash (the Avon Senses Lagoon variety) ran out, I immediately replaced it with another Avon Senses variety, Mystique.
This was the first of the Mystique products I had tried, so I wasn't sure what to expect in terms of scent, although the front of the bottle describes it as 'sensual and romantic'. This romantic theme is backed up by a picture of Paris on the front of the bottle.
I encountered a problem when I first came to use this, which was that the pump dispenser would not work. At first I thought there was just air in the pump, however on a closer look I realised that it was completely broken. Luckily I hadn't yet thrown the empty Lagoon bottle in the bin, so I put the pump from that one onto this bottle. As the Mystique hand wash comes in a bright pink bottle and the lagoon comes in a turquoise bottle, the result of a pink bottle with turquoise pump looked rather ridiculous, but I've had to put up with it unfortunately.
I find that one pump of hand wash is usually sufficient to get my hands clean usually, however I tend to use two or three if my hands are particularly dirty, or if I've been applying make-up and they're covered in foundation. The hand wash has a gel consistency, but lathers into a thick foam.
The best thing about the product for me is the smell. Like all of the Senses products I have tried it smells absolutely divine. I'd say it's quite a feminine scent, very fresh and floral and I think I can detect a hint of rose mixed in with something a little more exotic (I'm thinking it might be jasmine and/or ylang ylang, but I'm not 100% sure). Having just looked at the back of the bottle I see that the scent is described as being 'mysterious and romantic' which I think sums it up perfectly.
Using this product hasn't dried my hands out which is always the big concern for me, being someone who has very dry skin on my hands in particular. I wouldn't go as far as saying it is moisturising, but it does leave my hands soft. The scent of the product lingers on my hands for around 15-20 minutes after use, but unfortunately seems to fade after this time.
A 300ml bottle of this hand wash costs £2 from Avon, but as regular Avon customers will be aware, most products are on special offer at some point or another. I think I only paid £1 for this, but it's currently on sale at £1.50. If you don't have a local Avon rep, you can buy online at www.avonshop.co.uk
Overall I am very pleased with this hand wash. It's slightly unfortunate that the pump broke and only by chance I still had the old bottle to swap them over. In terms of the actual product though, it smells wonderful and does the job - and it's pink! What more can you ask for?!
