“ Brand: Andrew Barton „
I bought the Andrew Barton 'I love Curls' Hair Tong just before Christmas so I could curl my hair for a Christmas party. It was reduced to £16.99 from £19.99 in Argos at the time and I had been looking for something that would not be too expensive and would give me loose natural curls and this claimed to do so.
The curling tong comes in a gloss black box with a picture of the tongs on the front and pink and white writing. The curling tong itself has a 32 mm barrel and is black ceramic coated. The tong has digital settings and the temperature has 11 settings with a maximum heat of 200'C. The buttons and digital display are set on a gold plate to stand out from the black barrel. The tong will heat up in about 30 seconds, and the indicator will show when this is at optimum temperature. The tong also has a movable clip which acts as a stand so the hot tong remains off any surface. The tip of the barrel also stays cool to allow easier styling. I was impressed with the style of the product, it is a nice sleek product, with a simple design.
When I first used the tong I found it very awkward. Unlike when you are using the GHD's for example the curl can be achieved with a turn of the iron on the hair. The Andrew Barton I love curls meant you had to wrap the hair around the barrel while holding the clip open. My hair seemed to be too fine for it and it kept slipping over the end. After a bit of practise I did get the hang of it a little better, but my hair would still slip off a lot.
As for the curls it produced they were loose - but way too loose. The tong didn't seem to produce even curls and some sections of hair had proper curls and others had waves. This may have been partly my own fault as I did struggle to use it. I had the tong set on the highest temperature of 200'C as when I did curl my hair before the curls fell out quickly. Even with the hot temperature the curls fell out after around an hour even with hairspray on it.
I was disappointed with my purchase and after a couple of uses I gave up and sold the tong on Ebay. I have returned to using my GHD's to curl my hair as these are much easier and give a nice curl.
