I bought a pair of these Babyliss Pro Straight hair straighteners for my 16 year old daughter's birthday last year. She had some old ones but they didn't seem to hot up properly so a new set was on the cards and I saw these on sale on Amazon for a decent price so I bought them with some vouchers I had. I think they cost me about £15 and it was well worth it. My other daughter has really expensive straighteners and she said these do just as good a job as her do. The straighteners look really nice when you get them out of the box. The plate that heats up is a gold colour and the handles are black which have a matt satin finish to them. The wire is about 1 metre long which seems fine for the electrical sockets in our house. The straighteners have two settings on them, one of them is the hottest which heats them up to 220 degrees celsius. This is a good heat and is the one my daughter uses most often. Her hair is quite thick and it has a natural wave to it which makes it really hard to style without using the straighteners first. They heat up really quickly, it takes about 15 seconds to get to top temperature so means she doesn't have to switch them on and leave them for ages before being able to use them. The plates have a nice shine to them which makes them smooth to use over your hair. She can do all her hair in about 20 minutes and her hair is quite long. The sides of the straighteners are round shaped so you can also use these for curling your hair if you wanted to. The lower setting we presume is for finer hair but not absolutely certain and we have never used it for anything, just the high setting. The best thing about these straighteners up to her old ones is that these have an on off switch so she can switch them off after use and they will start to cool down. This is really good to have as she was always rushing out in the morning for school and leaving her old ones plugged in and they were still on so using up the electric and also being dangerous. Now she remembers to switch them off on the handle so we have not had any incidents. I would recommend these straighteners to anyone who wants something at a reasonable price that does a good job.
