I have fairly thick, long hair which naturally probably falls into the 'wavy hair' category. I much prefer my hair when it is styled so I tend to use my hairdryer after showering and either hair straighteners of hair curlers every day. I definitely used to notice this taking a toll on my hair - it was dry, dull and damaged - my hair looked really unhealthy because the heat was killing it! Since I found this product, that problem has been completely solved! I still use heat on my hair daily but my hair is now lovely and healthy - I always get compliments on it!
The spray is a good investment as although it isn't the cheapest product available, I find a little spray goes a long way so it lasts me quite a long time. I spray it on my hair when it is still damp. Normally I towel dry my hair a little so it isn't dripping and then comb it through before applying the spray to avoid any product build up. The spray can be applied all over the hair but I tend to spray the product more heavily at the ends of my hair, with just a little spray by my scalp. I would recommend this method to others as I found my hair could feel a little greasy if I applied too much to my scalp.
I would definitely recommend this product. It has allowed ne to continue styling my hair without worrying about it's health. It effectively protects the hair and is an affordable price.
I was looking for a spray to use on my hair when using heated styling tools, as I was keen to prevent any damage to my hair lengths from heat damage. I eventually ended up buying a couple of items from the well-known 'Tresemme' range, with this review outlining my experiences of using the "Tresemme Heat Defence Spray."
The Spray is available to buy from good drugstores such as Boots, where the current purchase price is £5.25 for the large bottle, with this being 300ml in size. My own bottle is a 'miniature' version of this, being only 60ml in size which was ideal for my own requirements at the time of purchase, as I was looking to take such hair care items on holiday with me. I believe I paid in the region of £1.50 for this small bottle from a local branch of Superdrug.
The packaging comprises of a small black bottle with a 'pump' dispenser at the top. There was a small plastic 'cap' on top of the pump spray, but this was misplaced long ago. I have found my small bottle is ideal for taking on trips or holidays, of course, but I also like how easy the packaging is to use, particularly as I have limited strength in my hands that can make the use of some products quite difficult.
The spray promises "up to 230 degrees protection" and "Helps protect against damage from dryers and heat styling tools." These claims appealed to me as I will often use hairdryers and heated straightening irons to achieve my desired 'poker-straight' hair style. I do favour using styling products that have added protection to avoid damage to the hair lengths, and so I felt reassured by the claims made on the product's bottle.
To use, I simply need to 'spritz' some of the product onto my towel-dried (damp - NOT wet) hair. I find that spritzing the Spray near the top of my hair in one or two squirts is ample for my own requirements, but I do tend to comb it through the hair lengths afterwards to ensure even distribution. This application process is without fuss or 'faff' which suits me down to the ground, and I have found that the Tresemme Heat Defence Spray has fitted in quite nicely to my normal hair care routine, as a result.
A little word of warning here, to be cautious about the amount of product sprayed - I have found that too much of the product will easily feel 'sticky' on the hair ends, and whilst this does die down a little once the hair is being dried, it can still be quite easy for some annoying residue to linger on the hair's lengths if too much product is applied, so a 'less is more' approach is advised. I have actually found that a surprisingly little amount of the product can achieve great results, so the small bottle that I have has lasted a surprisingly long time, allowing the purchase price to feel justified and the product itself to feel rather economical. Worth bearing in mind, given the slightly higher-than-average price tag of the full-sized bottle.
I find that there is quite a strong aroma present during the time the Spray is being applied to my hair, and whilst this is verging on being quite 'chemical' it is not over-bearing or too sickly for my own liking. The smell does die down quite significantly once the hair has been dried and styled, but I can still detect a faint whiff of it every now and then. Thankfully though, this never feels intrusive or too strong.
When my hair is blow dried, I find that the Tresemme Defence Spray works quite well in keeping my hair free from frizz and flyaway ends. True, I haven't noticed much in the way of added shine or 'body' from the spray, but I think this is rather what I had expected to achieve from its use, rather than it being promised on the spray's bottle. There is a claim printed on there in relation to continued use helping to prevent breakage of the hair, but I can't say that I have noticed much in the way of results here, although to be fair my hair is not particularly prone to breakage issues.
When using my hair straighteners, I find that the Tresemme Defence Spray works quite well in acting as a sort of 'barrier' to the hair, providing a little protection from the intense heat from the straightening irons. I do find that the product works really well at controlling frizz and keeping hair straight and free from 'kinks' if it is blow dried with the use of the Tresemme Spray and THEN straightened separately, as I do think the spray works best with the use of a hair dryer. After using the spray with my hairdryer, then by finishing off my styling regime by whizzing the hair straighteners through the hair lengths, I am able to achieve a poker-straight result that lasts well and looks quite sleek. I do feel, therefore, that the Tresemme Spray is a worthwhile addition to my regular hair-care routine.
I can't say I have noticed any 'build-up' of the product resting on the hair after use, except in those instances where I have accidentally sprayed too much on the hair before drying it, which can encourage stickiness to settle. Other than this though, I have been impressed with how my hair feels and looks, pleased that my hair does not appear dry or brittle at its long lengths, which has definitely been an issue in the past, before I ensured hair was protected from heated hair tools.
I have noticed nothing in the way of irritation to my sensitive skin and scalp from this product, either during or after use, so I do feel that it is entirely suitable for those consumers who, like me, suffer with sensitive skin issues.
Taking everything into account, I do feel the Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray is a worthwhile purchase, and I would repurchase it again for myself in the future. Although the purchase price of the full-sized bottle may feel slightly excessive initially, I do feel the product is extremely economical as only a little is required with each use, and this has allowed the product to feel like reasonable value for money.
I've been using this product for a few years now, after my hair started to get damaged from blow-drying and straightening my hair. My hairdresser advised me against this, but they advise against anything that isn't Loreal, since they're endorsed by them. The product promises to protect your hair up to 230 degrees, and has a UV filter to minimise sun damage. It also promises to smooth frizz and seal in shine.
Applying this product is very simple, you just spray it onto your hair with the nozzle at the top of the bottle. I like to apply it just before I start to style my hair, and brush it through for better coverage. I find that the ends of my hair get damaged a lot from styling, so I usually apply a bit extra to the ends to prevent this.
When using your styling tools, it's likely that steam will come off of your hair. This is perfectly normal and is simply because your hair is wet from the product. I don't use this before blow-drying anymore, because I put anti-frizz serum on my hair while it's wet, and that has heat defence properties too. When I use this with straighteners, my hair styles a lot easier than before I used it. Without the product the straighteners would tend to snag on my hair, but with the product, the straighteners glide over smoothly.
I still get split ends from styling my hair, but I get significantly less now that I use this. The ends of my hair feel softer and more healthy, as opposed to feeling rough before. In fact, my hair feels softer and healthier in general since using this. The product does smooth frizz while I'm straightening my hair, but it doesn't keep the frizz away on it's own. I use anti-frizz serum while my hair is wet, and anti frizz creme when it's been straightened, and that stops my hair from going frizzy in wet and humid conditions. My hair is naturally wavy and frizzy, so if you have normal hair, this could work better for you.
The best thing for me about this product is the smell. Before I started using it, my hair would just smell burnt, no matter what type of shampoo I used before. I hated this, since I had to go out with hair that smelt horrible. As this protects my hair from burning, it also keeps away the burning smell, so I can still smell my shampoo, as well as the soft fruity fragrance from the spray itself. This is a massive bonus for me, as I feel more confident when my hair smells nice.
I usually pay around £4.00 for this, but it can be found cheaper on occasion in discount shops like savers, or on offer in the supermarkets. You get 300ml of product for this price, and it lasts a long while, especially if you don't use it every day. Mine can sometimes last me for 5-6 months depending on how much I use it, so this is great value for money.
I have been using heat protector on my hair ever since I bought my first hair straighteners. With having fine hair, it is important I use it probably more so than most hair types just to my hair breaking so easily compared to thicker hair.
My normal hair routine would be I wash my hair as normal then I dry it a little with my towel (not too much as I'm scared of been too rough as my hair breaks so easily) then I spray this all over my hair trying to focus on the ends of my hair (which split the most) and then I go on to blow dry my hair and curl or straighten it. Even if I were to give my hair a break from straightening it or curling it, I will still spray this on my hair, as most people don't realise how damaging hair drying your hair is. I guess it's probably because we have been doing it for so long and to most it's a necessity to avoid colds etc. but they don't realise how it can affect the hairs condition, I guess some people just think it's the whole styling process that does it.
The heat protector is £4.89 for a 300ml bottle at boots. Which is fairly normal for a heat protector. Remember because you are just doing a few sprays round the hair it does last a long time too. This spray may be cheaper at other stores though like Home bargains that tends to sell most products that little bit cheaper, but that isn't always the case, so please don't fully take my word but it's definitely worth looking!
The heat protector is supposed to protect products up to 230 degrees which is ideal for people using heat tools like hair straighteners as they tend to range around 200-220 so it will likely protect your hair from the tools you normally use.
Also the heat protector contains a UV filter, so even if you don't style your hair normally with hair heating tools, you can just use it to protect it from the sun. It's quite shocking how damaging the sun is to the hair and can really dry it out, so when I'm in a hot country I use this. I even used it in England when we had our sunny spell, which unfortunately seems to have gone now.
The heat protector also aims to tame frizz, I know people who just use this for the sole purpose of taming their frizzy hair and don't even use heat tools so I guess it must be good for frizzy hair.
My hair looks a lot shiner when I use this product too which I didn't actually realise it was supposed to make hair shinier until reading the bottle before writing this review. But I definitely have noticed a difference, which is always an added bonus!
Is my hair breaking less?
Yes, I definitely have noticed I'm lacking a lot more on the split end front- something that was never the case before using this protector and shows the other ones I used maybe wasn't as good as I have always used them. I don't feel as guilty therefore for using heat products. I must admit I use heat products every day on my hair. I dry my hair every other day (as I wash it every other day) and then I straighten or curl my hair every day. So for me having a product like this is a major essential for my hair as my hair would be in an incredibly bad state.
The packaging is quite typical of Tresemme products. Its in a black bottle with a spray nozzle and it explains that it's a 'protect' product and has a small picture of a hair dryer and hair straighteners which clearly explains the purpose of the product, so its easy to spot out when looking for a heat protector.
5/5 I cannot fault the product, protects hair, adds shine and makes me feel less guilty for using heat products on my hair!
=Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray=
I brought this more for my daughters use than mine, as in the summer, I can let her hair dry naturally, but October onwards or if we are in a rush then its need to be dried with a blow dryer, as she has mid back length hair bit it thick.
She does have a pair of hair straightners, but they are only used once in a blue moon and by me.
Although we do take care of her hair in terms of shampoo, conditioner, and detangler when needed, I found after blow drying, it seemed to take some of the good work that we had done.
On one of wonders down the health and beauty aisle, I saw this Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray.
It was priced at £4.79, or at the time there was a 3 4 2 promotion on Tresemme products, so I was able to get shampoo, conditioner and this Spray.
=The Product Claims=
-Helps protect against damage from dryers and heat styling tools
-Offers heat protection up to 230C
=Smoothes frizz and seals in shine.
The heat defence bottle is a black plastic bottle, with a black sprayer attached the top, it wouldn't look out of place in a Salon.
For the first couple of times using the trigger found it was stiff and I had problems getting the spray out, but after that it flowed easily, I put it down to being a new bottle.
I found that one spray really does go a long way, I will be honest and say the first couple of times using it, we didn't get enough then the second time we soaked her hair, but it was the first time using the spray so I forgive myself for that!
Once we mastered the spray and the best way to do my daughter hair, which was to section off and do it that way, the way we found that worked was to spray once on the scalp area then the other spray just underneath the back of her hair, as that is the thick element of her hair.
There is a mild smell to this, nothing over powering, just like an extension of a shampoo, but it does not last lost.
I am pleased to say that there was no greasy, sticky or smell left behind, it is almost as though you get all the benefit from the product but with none of the residue left.
I feel it does offer protection to her hair as when we brush it later on in the day or bedtime, the brush just glides through. We both have heavy duty hairdryers, so this is really a good product to use.
For the purpose of the review, we had a go with the straightners, and the spray and I really did feel that the straightners went through her hair a lot smoother, and her hair looked really glossy after straightening.
I can't comment on the frizziness as neither of us suffer with frizzy hair.
My only niggle is that although I love the product that the bottle is a bit bulky, if as an adult you were doing your own hair you could with a 3rd hand as you may have to put the appliance down to spray.
The bottle is long lasting, we use it about 5 times a fortnight over the winter and maybe once a fortnight over the warmer weather, and a bottle lasted us about 4 months, (that was Winter) so value for money it is full marks.
This is a 5 star product, I was going to knock one star off for the shape of the bottle, but then I thought if the bottle was smaller, be less product and would the price go down? I doubt it.
I blow dry my hair and straighten it every other day, so I'm keen to protect it from being damaged by the heat, with one of the products I've tried being Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray, which comes in a 300ml bottle which costs £4.79 in Tesco, though I have frequently seen it on 3 for 2 offers with other Tresemme styling products.
The main claims the product makes are:
*Helps protect against damage from dryers and heat styling tools
*Smoothes frizz & seals in shine
* Offers heat protection up to 230°C
This heat defence spray bottle is a smart black sprayer- it looks very much like something you'd see used in a smart salon, and indeed Tresemme do claim to offer salon quality at affordable prices. The trigger was a tiny bit stiff at first, but loosened up after a while, and when triggered the spray comes out quite fast, but in a widely dispersed mist that actually covers a good chunk of hair. I have incredibly thick hair (my mums is Chinese, so I blame her!) and actually find that I need to spray a little on the top of my head, which takes maybe four sprays to cover the whole head, but then also apply some halfway through the depth of my hair. I find this with all such products though, and even when straightening my hair - I need to split into more segments just due to the sheer abundance of hair.
This has a light smell to is, nothing too strong and offensive and to be honest it's gone seconds after you spray it. It doesn't leave any grease, dullness, or residue on the hair, and doesn't cause any stiffness of style or dragging of the straighteners either. In fact, I think it makes using straighteners that tiny bit easier, as they glide through the hair more smoothly. This also does reduce the frizziness of my hair, and leave me with a healthy glossy shine after straightening.
My one criticism is that the bottle is a bit big and bulky- I appreciate I'm getting a good amount for my money, but I've had to decant this into a narrower mister that is easier to hold. Alas, it doesn't spray such a wide area, so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place at the moment. If Tresemme offer this in a smaller, lighter, narrower bottle I wouldn't hesitate to give it the full 5 stars, alas on this occasion I can only award 4.
I use heat defence on my hair whenever I use my hair dryer or hair straighteners without any questions. It is a must! My weapon of choice for the past few months has been the Tresemme heat defence. I purchased this when it was on offer in Boots.
The Tresemme heat defence promises protection up to 230 degree, helps to protect against damage from dryers and heat styling tools and smoothes frizz and seals in shine.
To use the spray you simply spray onto your hair, brush through and then proceed to use your heat styling tool. I like the design of this bottle and the nozzle is quite big and easy to press. The product dispenses evenly and is quite well spread out. Some products like this you get and when they spray out they just go on one section of your hair leaving our hair feeling weighed down.
The spray has a fairly nice scent, it isn't really anything special but that's not really what you need from a heat protectant. I would rather my hair smelt of the shampoo that I had just used so this is perfect.
My hair is just past my shoulders and is what I would class as more on the thin side. Because of this I find that some products cling to my hair and can make it look greasy and flat. I do not have any problems with this at all with this spray. It helps to combat dryness and makes my hair smoother. When using this my hair looks and feels more healthy from root to tip. You can definitely tell the different between using this product and not using it.
If like me you prefer having longer hair or you are trying to grow your hair then I cannot recommend this heat protectant enough as it provides a great barrier to damage to allow for this hair growth.
You can find this in stores priced between £4 and £5 which compared to some of the other hair care products you can buy is a bargain. It lasts absolutely ages as well. I use mine every other day when I am drying my hair and have had my current bottle for around 6 months.
Deep down I know full well that heating my hair everyday with the hairdryer, tongs or straightners isn't good for my barnet I still insist on doing it each morning and have sacrificed the health of my hair a little. And when my hair shaft got a little damaged and kinked, I used the stylers more to try a temporary fix! A vicious circle. At least now, after a recommendation from a friend, I feel reassured that no matter what styling I put my hair through, my hair will be protected when using Tresemme's Heat Defence Spray.
I've been a big fan of Tresemme ever since my salon stocked their products around a decade ago, so when my friend mentioned this spray and I then noticed it in my local chemist a few months back I was excited to try it when I next used my straighteners. I wasn't disappointed. I sprayed it all over my damp hair and then just styled as usual. Simple! It only took about5 sprays for my entire hair and I have mid-long length hair. When I had finished my hair was smooth and shiny and looked really healthy as a result. I didn't feel like I had just ravaged it of all its natural moisture, I actually felt like I was helping to protect it from my harsh straighteners. It's main ingredient is activated by heat so will always kick in when styling or even blowdrying.
The bottle is very pretty and the spray system looks great and works really well -- its not the usual looking spray nozzle and so hasnt dripped like some sprays do. I bought mine for £4.50 but it seems to average around £4.99 in most places. It's quite a decent size too (300ml) so will last a while.
I'd definately recommend this - it's second nature now to just reach for it before styling my hair, even if that means just blow drying.
I style my hair pretty regularly with a hairdryer and also hair straighteners. Therefore, I am quite concerned about potential heat damage and the negative effects this can have on my hair. Therefore, before styling I treat my hair with a defensive spray to help it withstand the high temperatures and minimise any damage caused. I tend to browse around when I need a new spray and buy whatever is on offer or catches my eye at that time. Most recently, that was this Heat Defence Styling Spray from Tresemme.
I bought a 300ml bottle for £4.69 from Boots. It is on the 3 for 2 mix and match promotion across hair care at the moment (April 2013) so if you need other things too, you can save a few pennies. The bottle is black in colour - as is all the Tresemme range - and features a trigger spray at the top. The bottle is rounded, fairly plain and quite chunky. This makes it easy to hold but less easy to apply in more tricky areas such as round the back of your head. The trigger works well and disperses the liquid widely across your hair. I have thick, long hair and use around 5 or 6 sprays per application. The spray smells a little chemically but is not unpleasant nor is it overly fragrant - I would prefer a nice scent on this but it is not a great issue to me. Other people have said that the spray smells fruity, but it really doesn't to me!
The spray contains a 'heat activated complex to help protect hair when drying and straightening.' I spray onto my hair after washing and towel drying before using a hair dryer and straighteners. It doesn't feel sticky or add any weight to my hair. After drying and straightening, my hair looks and feels good. My hair has a few frizzy areas and this really helps to calm them down. It adds shine to my hair too. I have been using this for several weeks now and I am very confident that this is helping to protect my hair. My hair feels in good condition and split ends are minimal too. It has meant that I have been able to go a little longer between haircuts but still feel confident that my hair looks good. I would definitely recommend this spray.
I often use a variety of electrical items to style my hair. I use hot air rollers, a hair dryer, straighteners, curling tongs, a barrel curler and other products. Because of this my hair can get quite distressed if I don't look after it regularly. This is why I like to use heat protection spray to try to keep my head in tip top condition.
Tresemme is a brand that I have used in the past and recently I have been using their shampoo and conditioner when I am at the gym - despite the massive bottles! When my bottle of GHD spray had run out I was looking in Tesco for a heat defence spray a few weeks ago and I found this one for £4.69 on a buy one get one free. This included other products and so I snapped up one of these sprays and something else too. This caught my eye not just because of the special offer but because of how simple to use it looked with a trigger that I knew I would be able to hang up in my bathroom on a rail I always hang bottles on for use after the shower.
Now when it comes to the bottle it is very simple to use, I just pull the trigger and spray directly on to my hair. The bottle is comfortable to hold in my hand and when I spray the trigger it produces a fine miss that covers my hair quickly and with minimal wastage which is always good. Because this spray is so fine I can do just the right amount before I saturate my hair which is something I have struggled with when using other brands.
Once I have sprayed my hair I tend to give it a brush through again and then I start drying it before using a little more than straightening it or styling it with an electrical item such as curling tongs or a barrel curler.
With regards to using this spray I find it fantastically simple to use. This is very simple to apply to my hair, which I love of course, meaning I can just spray this and get on with my normal routine. My hair is past bra strap length again now, it seems to grow so fast, and styling spray can sometimes take ages to apply. A few sprays go a long way with this and I concentrate on the roots and the tips if I am really rushing. This spray doesn't feel too greasy or weigh my hair down at all which is fantastic. My hair doesn't look greasy or lifeless either after using this and styling it which is brilliant.
As long as I am careful with applying this there is no grease or problems with my hair at all. I feel that this is fantastic and in the past I have found sprays that are either too greasy or that don't do a good enough job at protecting my hair. My hair smells light and fresh after using this rather than smelling like hair that has just been burnt! When I run my fingers through my hair they end up being a little sticky which is surprising considering how light and fresh this is on my hair.
This 300ml bottle has lasted me about three weeks so far and I feel like I am about half way through the bottle making this fantastic value for money. I will definitely try this again in the future although I am often persuaded by special offers rather than loyalty!
My hair is frizz free and controlled after using this and styling my hair. Overall I don't really have anything bad to say about this styling spray. My hair looks wonderfully healthy and best of all when I use styling spray I am able to take care of my hair and prevent spit ends as much as possible. Everything about my hair has been slightly improved thanks to using this so that is why I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars!
I have really been trying to look after my hair this past year and get it in better condition. I am trying to grow it long, and I like wearing it down straight, so a heat defence spray is an must have for me as I use hair straighteners on my hair. I bought this Tresemme heat defence spray from Boots for £4.70 the first time I bought it, but it is quite often on offer, and is currently selling in Boots for £3.13, which is a great price for this heat defence styling spray as it is a 300ml bottle. It helps protect your hair when using up to 230 degrees heat on it.
This heat defence spray bottle is black and has a spray top lid. You just point the spray at your hair where you want to spray it and pull down the lever and the actual product comes out really fast but in a large mist that covers a large section of your hair in just one spray. I use around 4 sprays or this in my hair each time I need to use it, so a little goes a long way. A bottle of this lasts me a good 8/9 months, although I don't use it every single day. The bottle is quite heavy when full and I have to use two hands when using it, one to hold the bottle still and one to spray it, I can't do it one handed due to the weight.
This does not leave my hair feeling like it has a product in it, and when I dry my hair, you cannot tell I have sprayed anything in it. It doesn't leave hair greasy, but my hair does have a nice shine to it, and it also leaves my hair smelling lovely too. My hair is definitely in better condition than this time last year, I cannot say that this product has helped it get into better condition as I am using lots of different products on my hair, but my hair does not look heat damaged, so I am sure it is working in protecting my hair from the heat. My hair does feel stronger and I am getting less split ends, which can be caused by heat damage. This spray claims to prevent 82% of hair breakage with continued use, and I do feel my hair is stronger and not breaking and getting split ends so much.
I will continue to use this spray, I am on my second bottle now, and I don't have any complaints about it. I just wish I could find it in a slightly smaller bottle, to take away with me when I travel, as the 300ml bottle is quite bulky and doesn't fit in my toiletries bag with everything else. However I love this spray, it is so easy to use, there is no mess with it and it just does the job it is supposed to do, leaving my hair protected and shiny!
Heat protection spray is something I like to use as part of my hair care routine, as I have very thick hair which takes forever to dry naturally. As a result of this, I use a hairdryer each time I wash it, and occasionally I'll straighten it if I'm going out, so I'm very conscious of my hair breaking and getting damaged due to excessive heat.
I'd never tried this particular heat protector before, but was forced into purchasing it because of a very poor choice in my local Morrisons. That'll teach me to not "stock up" on things as and when I see them in Boots! I can't remember exactly what it cost me at the time, but looking around online you can expect to pay around £4.69 for a 300ml bottle of this from the likes of Boots, Superdrug, and the supermarkets. I think this is reasonably priced, because anything cheaper than this would make me doubt the effectiveness of it.
The main reason I was drawn to this particular spray, was because of its promise to protect hair from damage from heat up to 230 degrees. This seems reassuring when you think that most straighteners use temperatures in this region these days. It also claimed to leave hair frizz-free and seal in shine, so apart from protecting my hair I was hoping it would also improve the day to day look of it.
The spray is a trigger spray, which I quite like because it allows me to control it a little easier than a traditional aerosol. The trigger is nice and big so I can grasp it easily whilst trying to spray the back of my head at awkward angles. The advice for usage is to spray liberally on towel dried hair, which I do, and then style as usual.
In use, the spray feels quite light and I don't feel like I'm weighing my hair down with heavy styling products. This is important to me because although my hair is quite dry, it can become quite greasy at the roots if it's overloaded with products. The fragrance is very pleasant, being quite feminine and almost fruity, but this is irrelevant really because it soon disappears after applying the spray.
In terms of protecting my hair, I do feel that this offers a bit of reassurance that breakage will be minimised due to the protection from high heats. I haven't noticed those little tufts of broken hair sprouting from my roots as much as I usually would, and to me this is a good indication that my hair is being damaged less. However, I can't say my hair looks any less frizzy, nor does it shine more than it usually does, so I was a little disappointed with the outcome of it from a vanity point of view. I was at least hoping it might smooth my hair a little so I don't look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards by the time I get to work.
In summary, I am happy to use this spray until it runs out, and feel reassured that it is safeguarding my hair from further damage. However, I'm a bit disappointed with the fact it doesn't make my hair look any different, and certainly doesn't eliminate or even reduce frizz. I won't be in a hurry to buy it again, but it's ok for emergencies.

In order to protect my poor hair from all the styling appliances I use I always buy Tresemme Heat Defence Spray. I quite like Tresemme as a range and I like the volume shampoo and conditioners, which I use quite a lot. I have been using the Heat Defence Spray ever since I started to use heated appliances regularly as my hair is in a poor enough state as it is without me adding to the mix.
The bottle is black and contains 300ml of product and costs me around about £4.50 a pop. I have also used the much smaller (60ml) travel sized bottles whenever I've gone away on holiday as I don't use a great deal of it and the larger sized bottle is just far too large to cart around.
This product comes in a black plastic flexi bottle with a pump action spray on top. The idea is that you spray it onto wet hair before using any heated appliances (including the hairdryer) and it will protect it from any damage up to 230 degrees and added to that, it also has a UV filter so will protect my hair from any sun damage.
The first thing I noticed about this spray is just how lovely it smells. It has a really unusual fragrance and this seems to intensify with the heat of the hairdryer. Unlike other heat protection sprays I've used, this one doesn't leave my hair feeling heavy and sticky after I've dried it. I swear it also adds volume (though it doesn't mention it's meant to) and it leaves my hair feeling great and in good condition afterwards.
I always concentrate more on the ends of my hair, rather than the roots, as this is where I have the most damage (including a lot of spilt ends) and a few squirts is all I need. A bottle this size (300ml) lasts me forever and I still have loads left now after about three months. I do actually think I've noticed an improvement in the condition of my hair since I've been using this product long term. I also think it's really important to keep on using it all the time you are using heated appliances. Using it only occasionally, or every once in a while really isn't going to help your hair much in the longer term, especially if you use heated applianes as much as I do. This works really well at protecting my hair from the heat and it now seems to be in much better condition and feels stronger and healthier.
Overall, I really can't say one negative thing about this product. It works really very well and certainly does protect my hair from heat damage and I happily recommend it.

For someone who uses heated stylers pretty much everyday a good heat defence spray is an absolute must have for me. Having long and coloured hair means it tends to get damaged quite quickly when using hairdryers, straighteners, rollers etc so if I dont use a spray that would happen much more quickly and leave my hair just looking and feeling awful. I usually use a Paul Mitchell spray that I buy at the hairdressers each time I go which does work wonderfully for me, however it only comes in HUGE cans and when it came to taking a spray away on holiday with me that just wouldn't do. So I went shopping for a travel sized heat defence spray and came across this 'Tresemme Heat Defence Styling Spray' which was just what I was looking for - it was travel sized and a brand I am pretty familiar with so I had high hopes for this spray. Luckily I have not been let down, in fact I've actually switched from my usual product to using this - its cheaper & it actually works just as well if not better!!
Price: 300ml - £4.69 60ml (travel size) - £1.49
Stockists: Boots & Superdrug.
Other Info: Defends against heat from appliances such as blow dryers, straighteners & curling tongs. Also promises to smooth frizz and leave your hair looking sleek and shiny. This can be used on any hair type and on both damp and dry hair.
As I mentioned I bought this specifically for travelling with so the bottle I own is the 60ml size - exactly the same as the larger size in most respects with a different lid, but with all the same information and exactly the same product. It comes in a black and purple plastic bottle - very fitting with the Tresemme brand - and is the perfect size for taking on holiday. Printed on the bottle is all the information about the product - directions for use, shelf life (12M), ingredients etc - there is also a website printed on there should you have any other questions for queries about the product. At the top of the bottle is a lid, underneath which is a push down nozzle to release the product, nothing amazing about the packaging however it sprays well and the lid and bottle are very secure in my opinion - no bursting on the plane, so once again brilliant packaging wise for travelling with if you cant go a week without your straighteners like me!
As I mentioned this spray can be used on either damp hair - before blow drying or on dry hair before you use another heat styler on it. I would personally suggest you use it on either one or the other, I believe it would weigh down my hair too much if I used it on damp and then dry so I tend to use it on damp hair only. Also I get good enough results from using it only once so using it more than that wouldn't be a benefit to me - and it saves me buying bottle after bottle of this. Anyway applying this to damp hair is pretty easy I tend to just brush it through and then liberally spray this all over from root to tip and then brush through again, applying to dry hair is slightly harder for me. When using it on dry hair I have to spray a small amount to each section of hair before I apply the heat - takes more time but once again works just as well, I guess the way you use it can always depend on how much time you have to get ready.
One thing I really like about this spray is the scent, its very fruity and fresh and that smell lasts on my hair afterwards as well, the heat doesn't get rid of any fragrance so that's a huge bonus for me. Depending on how long and thick your hair is will mean it will be a personal thing on how much you use each time - on wet hair about 6 sprays all over and then brushed in is more than enough for me - I have pretty long hair so that might seem like a lot to most people but for me it just makes sure all my hair is fully coated - shorter and thinner hair = using less each time, it really is an individual thing.
When thinking about the day to day results this works wonders. Since this protects hair when using heat appliances that go up to 230 degrees it definitely is enough protection for any heat appliance I personally use. So Ive got the day to day protection I need and also it does deliver on the other promises of making my hair look frizz free and shiny every day - there's nothing better than my hair looking just washed and styled everyday with minimal effort on my part.
Long term the results are even better for me this protects my hair every single day so the chance of split ends due to heat damage is seriously minimized which makes trips to the hairdressers to tidy them up much less frequent. I genuinely think this continues to protect my hair when I straighten it when dry - and it helps me have shinier and frizz free hair after every wash - a look that really does last until the next time I repeat the process.
For those of you who love your heat appliances but hate the fact that they damage your hair then this product is for you. It really does protect your hair, improves the look of it daily and is very simple to use. I bought this only for travelling but its become a permanent product in my beauty regime and I highly recommend it to everyone - 5*s from me.

This spray is designed to protect your hair from heat damage and for the very reasonable price of £4.29 for a 300ml bottle it is pretty good at what it is supposed to do. There is nothing outsatnding or extra special about this product but it is a decent price and the bottle lasts a long time even with regular use so it is worth looking out for if you are not saitisfied with your regular heat protection spray.
As well as being a decent product the bottle is pretty cool as well, it is a black plastic bottle with a trigger spray nozzle and white writing on the bottle with a splash of colour near to the base. It is nice and stylish mainly because of the matt black colour. One pull on the trigger results in the release of a very fine spray. It should be applied to wet hair before you use any drying device and I also apply it before I use my straighteners as these can really damage my hair.
I tend to apply a few blasts of the spray to my hair as it is quite long at the moment and then I brush it through a couple of times before drying my hair. It can handle temperatures up to 230 degrees and locks in the moisture in the hair to stop it drying out, this reduces the risk of split ends and also I find makes my hair a lot easier to style. This product certainly helps to keep my hair looking shiny and full of life, it is quite light and does not leave my hair looking dull.
It absorbs into my hair quickly and provides protection againt the potential damage of using heat on my hair. it has a slightly sticky feel to it but this is not noticeable after use and while it is fragranced the smell is not very strong and fades quite quickly after use. It leaves my hair shiny and without a greasy look which I have experienced with other heat protection products in the past. Overall my hair is more manageable and also looks healthy and well cared for.
Given the reasonable price this is a good product and worth 4/5 stars from me.
