The Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Sleek Shampoo is available for GBP 2.89.
The shampoo is in a white plastic bottle with a black lid. On it are the product name and additional product information. The plastic bottle contains 250 ml.
The shampoo is described as follows. "Beautiful smoothness for dry/frizzy hair. The Smooth & Sleek collection: Fights roughness and controls frizz. Leaves your hair beautifully silky smooth. Helps lock out humidity and leave your hair manageable."
The ingredients are Aqua, Stearyl Alcohol, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Parfum, Disodium EDTA, Panthenol, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal, Magnesium Nitrate, Citric Acid, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Magnesium Chloride and Methylisothiazolinone.
The shampoo is suitable for normal and thick hair. The shampoo has a creamy texture, therefore it can be applied well. The shampoo is difficult to rinse off. The hair is easy to comb. The shampoo does not fight roughness and the hair seems frizzy. The hair feels smooth and sleek after use. The shampoo gives noticeable sleekness. The hair seems to be cared for and looks healthy. The shampoo regreases and weights down the hair after repeated use.
The shampoo has a fresh, flowery scent. The scent cannot be noticed after use.
I cannot recommend the Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Sleek Shampoo, as it does not care enough and the regreases after repeated use. The hair feels smooth and the shampoo gives noticeable sleekness. The shampoo does not fight roughness. The hair seems to be frizzy, although it looks healthy.
This is a review of Pantene Smooth and Sleek shampoo. I received this shampoo and matching conditioner last year as part of a toiletries hamper.
The shampoo promises to fight roughness and control frizz, leaving your hair beautifully smooth. It locks out humidity and leaves hair manageable with beautiful smoothness for dry and frizzy hair. I wouldn't say my hair is very dry or frizzy to start off with but I didn't mind trying the shampoo.
The bottle is cream plastic with a green label. It says it is for normal-thick hair and is labelled 'Smooth and Sleek'. The lid is a flip top lid so you just squeeze the bottle to remove product. Towards the end I balanced my bottle on its head to make sure I got the last bits out.
A 250ml bottle is currently on sale at Tesco for £2.87. I am sure you can pick it up on offer at times though so best to look out for offers.
I found that you needed a lot of this shampoo to get around your head and hair. It just didn't want to lather up with me and I was using a handful each time. I finished off with the conditioner just on the ends and tended to find that the results of clean hair lasted only a day before it needed shampooing again. I usually go longer than that but not with this shampoo!
Due to the amount I was using, the bottle only lasted just over a week which I thought was disappointing for 250ml. I didn't like how the shampoo didn't lather as my hair just didn't feel clean when I had washed it and it was still wet. When dry my hair looked OK but there were no miracle results or anything!
The shampoo itself smells OK and clean but my husband said he could smell it one day when I got in the car and my hair was dry. I asked him if it was a nice or bad smell and he said, just a clean shampoo smell. It is quite unusual for him to comment on something like this so it must have been powerful. I was so glad when the bottle was finished that I could move on to a new shampoo as I won't be returning to this one any time soon! I don't think this is an economical shampoo to use if you have long hair as I had to make a couple of applications before I felt my hair was covered. I usually only use a 50p sized blob with other shampoos and with this one it was at least a handful!
Usually I opt for cheaper hair products as money is pretty tight, however I have an older sister who still lives at home that spoils herself silly with a variety of different beauty products and this so happens to be one. So, after testing it out once I decided to go ahead and buy myself a bottle of the product.
I have pretty thin hair that tends to get greasy looking and go into strands after a day. I don't tend to suffer from friziness however when the weather is as intense as its been recently, that is lots of strong wind and huge amounts of rain, suddenly I do. This shampoo in particular is great at combating friziness and leaves hair feeling both sleek and smooth (its in the name).
It claims to achieve smoothness in 10 days, although I saw results within the first week and my hair was soft to the touch. In the past I have had issues with Pantene products where, due to the thickness of the actual liquid, it leaves my hair feeling greasy and heavy. This product, sadly, still does do this to my hair, but only if I apply it everyday in the shower. When using a little more sporadically however, I get the effects of smooth and silky hair, as well as no greasiness! Also, it means that the bottle lasts longer which is great for a product that can be a little pricy.
The bottle is an opaque white colour which means you can't see through it. This is a bit annoying as it means you can't really tell how much is left.
The consistency of the shampoo is good in that it pours out very easily, without it spilling out too fast and wasting it. There is not really a strong fragrance that lingers on your hair after its dried. It smells a little fruity but not in a very girly feminine way.
A 250ml bottle of this product costs from £2.50-3.50. For a product which tends to last a while for me, particularly because of my thin hair, this is a very reasonable price I feel, especially because of its evident quality. However, for someone with thicker/longer hair this may not seem all that reasonable, as I know for example, that my sister goes through bottles of the stuff very fast indeed. A 500ml bottle will cost a lot more however, and in the various places I've seen it can be anywhere between £5-8.
The ingredients aren't exactly au-natural and include:
Aqua, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Glycol Distearate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Ammonium Xylenesulfonate, Cocamide MEA, Cetyl Alcohol, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Parfum, Sodium, Benzoate, Disodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Panthenol, Panthenyl Ethyl Ether, Tetrasodium EDTA, Benzyl Salicylate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Limonene, Citronellol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Paraffinum Liquidum, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Trimethylolpropane Tricaprylate, Tocopherol.
Overall I really liked this product. It was very effective in getting rid of friziness and locking out any humidity which might cause this. Due to its price however it's unlikely I'd regularly buy this product, but for the time that I did use it, it was an excellent product that really made my hair feel different in days. It moisturises and helps to condition and smooth hair which makes it much easier to manage and protect it against damage. Again, as someone with this hair, this component is very useful as it means that my hair was much less tangled when using and easier to comb through without breaking.
I have to confess that my bathroom cupboard and shkeves are full of products much to my husband's annoyance and now we have baby products to include as well I have been trying to use up things before replacing them. I recently used up all my expensive salon shampoo and ended up using my husband's shampoo Pantene Smooth and Sleek. This shampoo is designed for dry and thick hair and claims to make it feels less rough.
This comes in a large 500 ml bottle with a flip top lid. The flip top lid is ok when we are using it in the bathroom but there have been a couple of accidents when travelling so I now make sure it is put into a separate plastic bag so we dont end up with shampoo over our clothes. To be fair it is easily washed out and no clothes have been damaged due to spills.
The bottle is white plastic which you can't see through so it is more difficult to see how much has been used. In my case this is probably a good thing as my husband doesn't know I am using his shampoo! When buying make sure you pick up the shampoo and not the conditioner as the bottles as very similar.
The shampoo has a nice consistency as it pours out easily but is not so runny you pour out a lot more than you need. I have quite long hair and find a good 50p sized blob is enough for me. The shampoo is White with a light clean fragrance that reminds me of apples. The fragrance however doesn't really linger in your hair once it is dry.
The shampoo does leave my hair clean and soft although I still like to use conditioner as well. I colour my hair and dont find that the colour is adversely affected by this shampoo. My husband has short very thick hair and he likes the way his hair feels after using this shampoo.
Overall I would recommend this shampoo as a good family shampoo if you have family members with either thick hair or long hair. It is good value for money and lasts a fairly long time. It is readily available from supermarkets and chemists and costs from £3 to £4.50 so worthwhile to shop for the best deal.
I recently had a shampoo emergency, only realising I'd run out of the stuff after completely dousing my hair in water. I then dashed to the shop with my hair soaking wet and sticking out like a scarecrow's barnet and ended up buying the only thing on the shelf which was this Pantene Pro-V Smooth and Sleek Shampoo. I normally don't buy this brand and was shocked when I came to pay for it and it was over £4 for the 500ml bottle. This is way over my current budget but, as I say, I was in a hurry to wash my hair.
This shampoo comes in a large white plastic bottle with a large flip style lid on the top. My bottle is marked as being for Normal-Thick hair and also is stamped with the word 'NEW' on the front. On the back of the bottle it says this shampoo is for dry/frizzy hair and will provide "beautiful smoothness". The brand claims this shampoo will smooth out any rough shafts of hair and also provide a protective lock on the hair shaft so that external conditions such as the weather and humidity will not cause your hair to frizz and look flyaway. Pantene say their shampoo has an "advanced formula" which contains "micro-smoothers" to achieve the best result. As far as ingredients of the shampoo go I have to say I read them and compared them against the empty bottle of my Alberto Balsam shampoo and there was not much difference as far as I could tell.
Directions for use state to apply to wet hair, lather and rinse. There is no need to apply twice. There are a large range of Pantene conditioners and hair treatments available and the brand advise using these alongside this shampoo.
I find I need to use quite a lot on my long hair to get a decent lather and this amount is about a dollops worth equivilent to the size of a small macaroon. I am surprised at how much is needed to create a thick foam. However, once the foam has developed it feels soft and dense. Bubbles close to my scalp feel harder to work in to the skin of the head for some reason but along the hair shaft the foam flows more easily.
I don't find the shampoo to have any distinctive fragrance at all. If anything it smells like a mild talcum powder with a clean and fresh smell. It is a scent that is suitable for the whole family to use.
The shampoo rinses off the hair very easily and I don't find that I need to work it out much with my fingers or spend ages targeting the tangled hair shafts with water. I do find that after shampooing with this my hair feels noticably thicker and a bit tangled up during the stage between rinsing and applying conditioner. Once the conditioner is applied and rinsed off though my hair feels soft.
During the styling stage I notice that my hair feels quite strong and doesn't become elastic-like when I'm combing through it. It dries well without frizzing up and when fully dry looks healthy and soft. There is not much shine or glossiness to the hair though and it feels like it is heavier than usual - as though the hair is coated with a serum.
My scalp feels clean after use and doesn't itch or anything as it sometimes does with some brands of shampoo. Overall the shampoo provides a good clean and leaves my hair manageable and looking quite good although the results are nothing I would shout about. I would prefer to see my hair much more shinier and sleeker. As for the protective lock to guard against frizziness - well I have braved humid and foggy conditions and unfortunately my hair does what it always does and ends up looking like I have just stuck my finger in an electrical socket - so a big fail there. I am not sure the end result warrants me paying more than £3.50 over the top of what I usually pay for my shampoo and as a result I probably won't be buying this again.
I am constantly changing the shampoo I use. As soon as I have finished one bottle I am on to the next brand. I rarely ever buy a second bottle of the one I have just finished using. This is really down to the fact I like change but there are a few shampoos I always end up returning to. Pantene Pro V is an old favourite which I have been using on and off for years and I am always impressed with how effective it is despite being at the cheaper end of the scale in terms of price.
Pantene has evolved from its original classic care variety to keep up with the market and also produce shampoos and conditioners for coloured hair, dry and damaged hair and frizzy hair to name a few. I choose to use the sleek and smooth shampoo because it is more suited to my hair type. I always like shampoos that help straighten my hair and smooth and tame it so it looks sleek and shiny. Pantene's version is by no means inferior to the more expensive varieties in doing this.
It does not give that salon polished look more expensive smoothing shampoos can, but it is effective for every day use because its formula is much lighter.
After a while, I have found some shampoos can start to build up but Pantene Pro V does not do this. It can be used every day and my hair is still weightless and bouncy at the roots. Other cheaper shampoos are also better to use every day I have found but they are just not as effective at giving a sleek finish to the hair. Pantene is also head and shoulders above its cheaper rivals when it comes to nourishing and cleansing the hair to leave it looking healthy and damage free for longer.
It costs anything between £1.99 and £2.99 for a bottle but there tends to always be offers on for buy one get one free and three for two, especially at Boots.
Pantene Pro V has a distinctive smell. Many shampoos are quite fruity in scent while others at the more expensive end are very heavily perfumed. Pantene is quite musky in scent but at the same time fresh and invigorating. It is the kind of smell you associate with being clean. I have found however, that this smell is not as strong these days. The sleek and smooth shampoo has actually become quite fruity in scent. I think I detected a watermelon note coming through when I used it this morning. In this way it appears to be aligning itself with the other cheaper shampoos on the market and losing that distinctive Pantene smell which is a shame.
This does not put me off using it however. It is the shampoo to use if you like sleek, smooth hair but you don't want to splash out on an expensive brand. It is light weight and won't build up on your hair, leaving your hair feeling healthy and nourished.
I always find Pantene products work really well and this shampoo is no exception.
I paid about £2.00 for it which is a good price for such a good quality shampoo. The bottle is fairly basic looking and doesn't really stand out on the shelf but I no the brand is good so I really felt this shampoo would be good for my hair. My hair is long but I find a little goes a long way with this shampoo so the bottle does last me quite a long time.
One of the things that I really like about it is that when I open it I can instantly tell it is Pantene because of smell. It has a lovely smell to it and is very fresh and quite fruity and it really is a pleasure to use. I really like the fact that my hair still smells of Pantene even after I have washed it off and so it makes my feel that my hair is clean and smells great.
After using it my hair feels softer and smoother and it definately feels moisturised and not so dry. I have quite dry hair but this really helps to easy the dryness and frizzyness. It definately does what is says because my hair looks a lot sleeker and it makes it a lot easier to style it after using this shampoo.
I would recommend this shampoo to all my friends to try as it is nice to use and leaves hair looking great.
Normally I tend to just use any shampoo that is in the bathroom. Usually this means shampoos that are on special offer in the supermarket as my mum gets the shampoo and I don't really pay attention to which shampoo she buys.
I have however found that using head and shoulders has really relieved some of the itchy and scratchiness I get from dandruff. I also have a dry and tight scalp which really feels uncomfortable. Head and shoulders also makes my hair smooth and looking healthy. This means not only is my scalp healthy but my hair is looks and feels healthy as well.
My mum decided to get Pantene Pro V smooth and sleek as there was a special offer on it. It was 2 for £5 from superdrug with a normal price of £3.99 and she got 4 so she got 10% off making it £9 for 4. This works out as £2.25 for a 500ml of the shampoo. Pantene is a premium brand in my opinion and it's not a budget or mid range shampoo.
The shampoo claims to make hair frizz free, leaving hair smooth and silky. As I have brunette hair and I do not colour my hair I don't needed a shampoo that helps with colour retention. I do however experience my hair becoming static when I dry my hair. As I have straight hair and not curly hair it doesn't become frizzy but instead it becomes static. I also would like my hair to look silky as it can get dry during the colder months.
The shampoo works like all other shampoos in that the hair is damp and then shampoo is messaged on to the scalp and the hair. The shampoo lathers up nicely and the shampoo rinses off well without leaving any residue. I have found that with some shampoos it takes really long for the shampoo to wash off and if it's not done thoroughly then some is still left on the hair.
The shampoo does not make my hair any less static, in fact I think it makes it worse. My hair does feel smooth and silky and it is slightly better than Head and shoulders even if I use conditioner. Unfortunately after using this shampoo I have experienced more of the symptoms associated with dandruff. The shampoo does smell quite nice, although most shampoos do.
So the shampoo failed to make my hair less static even though it did make it silky. For me it is more important that my scalp does not fell tight or itchy so I prefer to use Head and Shoulders.
If you are looking for a shampoo that makes hair smooth and silky then this will do that but for those with tight scalps and those prone to dandruff, this is a really good choice.
