Lush Trichomania Solid shampoo "Tricha means hair. At Lush we are hair care fanatics, so as this bar was Lush's first solid shampoo block, it seemed only right to name it thus. You could say we took our passion and made it happen!" I was in Lush some time back prior to going on one of our trips and was trying to decide which of the many solid shampoo bars to buy to take with me on the trip. I love Godiva but fancied a change. While I was humming and hawing the lovely assistant said tell you what why don't you buy the 'Ultimate shine ' one and I'll give you a sample of the Trichomania one as well. I was quite delighted and when I saw the huge lump that she had given me as a sample I was even more thrilled as it was bigger than the bar I had bought! Trichomania is one of the solid shampoos sold by Lush that is weighed out and a lump cut off rather than in bars like soap already rounded and bought as they are. A BIT ABOUT LUSH'S PHILOSOPHY Lush only buy ingredients from companies that do not test on animals. They invent their own products and fragrances and make everything fresh by hand. They use as little preservative and packing as possible. They put the date made on the product so you can see how fresh they are and they use vegetarian ingredients Taken from their website: "We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud. We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again. We believe our products are good value, that we should make a profit and that the customer is always right. *We also believe words like 'Fresh' and 'Organic' have an honest meaning beyond marketing." LUSH TO BUY Many towns in the UK now have a Lush shop but if you are one of the unlucky ones they do have a mail order site too but you have to add postage costs to any order. You can buy some products on line that are not available in the shops so if you want something retro then on line is the only option. Lush have shops in the USA, Canada, Australia and others, they are very big in Japan. I have visited Lush in all those countries except Japan! WHAT LUSH SAY ABOUT TRICHOMANIA "She's a maniac, maniac on the floor And she washes like she's never washed before. A rich creamy coconut solid shampoo to nourish and soften dry or curly hair types." USING TRICHOMANIA This is a solid shampoo and all you have to do is wet your hair as usual then run this through your hair like you might a bar of soap. It lathers up quickly and then after a quick massage I thne rinse it out as normal and follow the rinse with a good conditioner. MY EXPERIENCE I love coconuts and know that coconut oil is not only great for the skin but also for hair because of its natural moisturising and conditioning ingredients. Lush say; "We've put lashings of creamed coconut in this bar, to give you as much as possible of its effects. We've also included soya lecithin to give protein. " I find the shampoo bar lathers up really easily and has lasted me ages. I don't use it every day or even every time I wash my hair as I like to ring the changes. The lather is thick and creamy and smells wonderful, not only of coconut but also my favourite vetivert too and the smell does linger in my hair which I like depending on how strong the conditioner scent that I use is. I find a coconut conditioner is a good one to complement the scent of this. I have found that this makes my hair feel squeaky clean despite all the moisturising I do feel I need to condition my hair after using this. My hair is quite dry so needs all the feeding I can give it. I have had no problems with itchy scalp or with my horrible eczema that appears from time to time at my neck hair line, after using this shampoo. This is one of a couple of different ones that regularly comes on holiday with me. Solid shampoos are perfect to pop in your suitcase for travelling as they will never leak; they add a lovely fragrance to your clothes when in the suitcase. They weigh less than a bottle of shampoo, so do not add much to your weight allowance. After using the bar all you have to do is dry it a little and pop it in plastic bag and you are ready to pack it again. The other shampoo bars that are round have special tins that you can buy to keep them in but this is not really the right shape so I keep old Lush black pots to keep things like this in as they have decent screw top lids that don't leak and the pots don't break and also are not heavy either. RECOMMENDED? Yes this is a good solid shampoo bar and one of my favourites. I like to buy different ones as I enjoy different smells and also find my hair likes to have different shampoos as it gets dull using one all the time. Theses solid shampoos look expensive when you first buy them but they last ages and are really so very handy when travelling that I always have at least two different ones on the go at a time for our trips away. Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same username. ©Catsholiday
I used to buy this all the time from Lush, until I got bored of it! I used to pay around £3-ish for a 100g block of this, however Lush prices seem to always be increasing these days. The shampoo is white in colour and it comes in block form. If you don't want to commit yourself to a 100g block you can always ask the lovely people at Lush for a small sample of it. The shampoo smells amazing. It smells of Coconut and by that I mean REAL Coconut, nothing fake or synthetic. The shampoo is also 100% natural and it can be used everywhere and anywhere as it is solid. I have dry and coloured hair and I was told that this shampoo would add moisture to my dry hair. So, does this work? Yes, it does! This shampoo lathers up brilliantly and the lather is soft, creamy and luxurious. It's easy to work with and it foams up without much water. It's so easy to wash your hair with and it rinses off easily too. After using this shampoo my hair feels soft, shiny and bouncy. It's full of life and the shampoo gives my dull hair life and volume without leaving it feeling too heavy. My hair can sometimes be a little lacklustre but this gem is a lifesaver. For dry and/ or damaged hair I would recommend this. It's also great for limp and/ or fine hair as it adds waves and volume. It also leaves the hair looking healthier and it doesn't rinse the black hair dye from my hair either, which is a bonus! This shampoo is NOT boring. I just get bored of products easily so I tend to try new things quite often!
In my quest to try every product that Lush make, I chose a block of Trichomania shampoo last time I was in the store. Trichomania (which means 'the love of hair') is a coconut shampoo designed to soften dry hair. It was actually discontinued last year, but after an outcry from numerous customers Lush brought it back. ***What is Lush?*** Lush is a store that makes toiletries and cosmetics, using natural and organic ingredients where possible and minimising packaging where they can. It started out as a mail order company called Cosmetics to Go, but this failed and the new store, Lush, opened in Poole, Dorset. Later branches of the shop opened in London and beyond, and there are now Lush stores all over the world. As well as in store, you can also buy products from the website, www.lush.co.uk. There are similar websites for many different countries including the USA, Japan and Germany. Lush buy ingredients only from companies that do not test on animals. All of their products are suitable for vegetarians and many are suitable for vegans. Lush say: "We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud. "We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again." ***Trichomania*** The shampoo is designed around the idea that nutritious, moisturising coconuts can be used to condition hair. It smells delicious, with a very sweet, sugary coconut scent. Dry, the shampoo is rough to the touch and wet, it becomes quite sticky and gloopy, so it's important to make sure it sits on a dry surface between uses. I keep it in a soap dish and drain the water off after each use. It is off-white in colour, and unlike other solid shampoos from Lush it comes in one big block like a soap, so you have to have a piece cut off. The shampoo is suitable for vegans and costs £5 for 100g - I believe my piece was just over this weight. I don't normally put ingredients lists into my reviews, but I will this time because the list is so short: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearic Acid, Creamed Coconut (Cocos nucifera), Glyceryl Stearate & PEG 100 Stearate, Cocamide DEA, Soya Lecithin, Perfume, Vetivert Oil (Vetiveria zizanoides). ***Does it love my hair?*** My hair tends to be quite dry, and it is very processed as it is coloured and I dry and straighten it daily. I hoped the shampoo would help keep my hair soft and in good condition. To use it, all you have to do is wet your hair under the shower and rub the shampoo bar over it, or else rub the wet bar between your hands and apply to your hair. It's fairly easy to judge when you have enough shampoo on your hair - you can tell by the lather, which comes up easily. I have quite thick hair and I don't need too much of this to wash my hair thoroughly. I always apply conditioner afterwards. While washing my hair, I notice that my hair feels a bit tangled, even after using conditioner (although this may be down to the particular conditioner I use). I have to be careful and brush it through with a wide-toothed comb while it is still wet. While drying and brushing my hair I notice this is still the case. I do notice that my hair feels soft to the touch, softer than many other shampoos I have used, which is a plus and fits in with Lush's claim. I have weird hair - officially it's 'straight' but in practice it has a slight kink or wave to it. This shampoo bar seems to bring out the wave in my hair, which isn't good when I'm trying to straighten it, but makes for a nice change when I'm giving my hair a rest. In fairness Lush do say that this shampoo is meant to be good for those with curly hair, so I imagine it would do this hair type a lot of good, making curly hair shiny and soft. I'm not sure about the tangling issue though - maybe I should be using a different conditioner! The shampoo doesn't irritate my scalp at all which is good. My bar lasted on average about a month which isn't too bad, although this still works out expensive compared to normal shampoos. I probably wouldn't buy this shampoo bar again. It's expensive and seems to make my hair tangled which isn't very good for it. On the other hand it does make my hair soft and seems to emphasise the natural slight wave in my hair so I imagine it would be good for those with curly hair. I'm going to give it three stars based on my experience.
Lush is the type of store that you smell before you see. It makes fun and colourful beauty products that solve just about every beauty dilemma that you can think of. With their snazzy designs, witty names and natural ingredients, Lush stands out as being a little bit different from their competitors. Their products are never tested on animals and they also do their bit for the environment. Some of their products are a little unusual and it is not always clear how you use them. When I purchased my first solid shampoo bar from Lush, I was more than a little confused with how to use it once I got home. The solid shampoo bars are simply shampoo that is not in a liquid form. The benefits of using a solid version is that it is much lighter to carry if you are travelling as I travel a lot, this product helps me to use up less of my baggage allowance with my toiletries because each bar lasts around 50 washes depending on the length of your hair. They are also better for the environment as there is no need for a big plastic bottle to be used in order to contain it. After buying and trying the solid shampoo bar called 'New' which is specifically designed to encourage hair growth I went on a search to chose my next bar to take with me on my holidays. It was an easy decision once I got there after finding the Solid Shampoo bar called Trichomania because I love Coconut based products and I thought it would the perfect tropical scent to accompany me on my holiday. The peculiar name literally means, the love of hair. This bar has been specifically designed for those with dry and damaged hair and I definitely fall under that category because I constantly colour, blow dry and straighten my hair. The product promises to transform your dull hair into soft and bouncing locks. It is white in appearance and it looks like an old fashioned chunk of ice cream. The shampoo contains Creamed Coconut which helps to hydrate thirsty hair and get it under better control by preventing fly away strands, frizziness and split ends. It is one of the best natural ingredients that can be used to improve both the health of the hair and the skin. It contains many important nutrients which nourish and strengthen the hair and because it hydrates the scalp, it can help to prevent dandruff. It also contains Vetivert Oil which is an essential oil that is extremely hydrating for the hair and gives it back the moisture that it was lacking. This means that hair will have more elasticity, preventing breakages and split ends. It also gives the hair back its health and vitality and gives it a lovely shine. How do you use the product? The product is be applied to damp hair and I run it across the length of my hair from root to tip and then the product is to be massaged into the hair. Make sure you don't leave the bar under the running shower water as you are massaging the product into your hair because it will waste the product. Little metal tins are available from Lush for handy storage so I put mine straight in there. You won't get much of a lather with this product although I read someone that the ingredient to cause bubbles in shampoos are put into products to make us feel like its doing a good job so that's not a problem. You should rinse out the product thoroughly and follow it up with a great conditioner. This product smells completely amazing and if you love Coconut, then you'll love the smell of this. It seems like you are washing your hair with a tropical cocktail and makes you immediately think of summer. This product costs £5 for 100 grams and it can be bought from your local Lush store or its online website. It leaves your hair feeling soft and looking shiny and smelling good enough to eat. The sad thing is that this delicious aroma doesn't linger for long enough on my hair. I especially love this product as it can doubles up as a skin product to so I can also leave my shower gel at home when I'm travelling. All in all this is a delicious smelling shampoo that hydrates dull and dry hair and makes it softer and easier to control. It isn't one of those products that blow you away and I tend not to use the solid shampoo bars unless I've travelling but it definitely makes my hair look healthy and it means I can fit in an extra pair of flip flops!
Trichomania I bought this a about a week ago as I left my discontinued lush shampoo bar in Rome and as much as I wanted to go back, I couldn't, So I had to get another one. I got this one as it said it was good for dry hair, and I have dry, curly/wavy hair. *About the product* The scenik bar and the discontinued bar that I have tried from lush were both circular in shape and I do not understand why this one is actually in a block, a rectangular shape! It is a bit silly as the shampoo bar tin that they have made just for the purposed of storing the bar is circular! So you can't put this shampoo bar into the shampoo bar tin. But apart from the silly shape, it smells really quite nice. It said on the website that it smelled of coconut as that it one of the main ingredients, it to me does not smell like real coconut - it smells like synthetic coconut even though I don't think it is. It is a creamy white colour and it comes in blocks which are about 100g in weight. And that it the only amount you can get it in, if you buy online but if you buy from a store you can get it in various weights. *My opinion on the product* I do like this product, but there is only one main thing about this product that I don't like and it is that, it does not lather up well at all. It feels like a solid conditioner and it feels like that when I put it in my hair - it does not feel like a solid shampoo bar. It does lather slightly but not very well at all for me. Another thing that I don't really like about this product is that it leaves my hair with a slightly 'waxy' feeling which I don't like a lot but if I use my american cream conditioner (also from lush - see my previous review for more information) then it does not feel waxy. It is a bit strange and I don't think I will get this one again - unless my hair gets really really dry. It smells really really nice and if I don't use conditioner then I can still smell the shampoo, which is nice and it really really does moisturise my hair so much - I think I will just use it for odd days when my hair really needs some tlc instead of using it as a daily shampoo bar. I bought a piece of this from the manchester arndale lush store which is really nice and the staff are really nice too and I got it for about £5.50 I think and I don't know how much it weighed as the sticker has vanished! But it is a little bit expensive. On their site for 100g it is £4.65 the same as the other shampoo bars and they do last for ages (unless you leave them in Rome)! *Ingredients* Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearic Acid, Creamed Coconut (Cocos nucifera), Glyceryl Stearate & PEG-100 Stearate, Cocamide DEA, Soya Lecithin, Perfume, Vetivert Oil (Vetiveria zizanoides) Conclusions Good points *Great for people with very dry or damaged hair *Smells so nice *The scent stays on my hair for a while - if I dont use conditioner *Very very moisturising for my hair *Leaves my hair smooth and moisturised - no longer dry Bad points *Sometimes leave a slightly 'waxy' film on my hair - if I don't use conditioner *Does not lather well at all! www.lush.co.uk Thank you for reading my review
I'd never heard of a bar of shampoo and i'll admit I was fairly sceptical. I did not see how you could get a lot of lather but upon reading reviews for it I decided to give it a go and bought the Trichomania bar. This was mainly because I didn't like the smell of the others and i'm quite a big fan of coconut scented things. Trichomania has a strong coconut smell with a hint of incense mixed in. It is a very earthy scent and may not be to everyones' taste. The price I paid was just under £5 and for that I got a 100g block. If you buy two bars you are entitled to a free tin but on this occasion I wasn't sure I was going to like the product and settled for the one. To use it, wet you hair first and then stroke the bar against your hair a couple of times. This is more than enough to get a really good lather which I didn't expect at all. Rinse away, condition as usual and afterwards you will be left with squeaky clean hair which is noticeably more shiny, fluffy and because it's packed full of moisturisers it leaves your hair super soft. The bar lasts for ages several times longer than ordinary shampoo and not only that, you are helping the environment as Lush do not use Palm Oil in their products and all the packaging is recyclable. Also, they do not test on animals their products are 100% vegetarian and around 70% are vegan. My only negative is that I have absolutely nowhere to store it and it sits in its wrapping in the bathroom which is quite unslighty. My advice, get a tin!
This Lush solid shampoo has the amazing scent of coconut, when i walked in to the shop, it was the first thing I smelt and straight away I bought it. It look slightly like a piece of coconut smelling white cheese (odd, i know!) and when you hold it it feels hard like a piece of soap, this didn't put me off so I tried it about a week after buying it. The way I use/ used it was by wetting it in the shower slightly, then rubbing it between my palms until there is a large amount of lather then rubbing hands in my hair. If this isn't enough I simply rub the whole block of Trichomania in rub wet hair. Straight away my hair felt very, very clean or squeaky clean. This worried me so I used a tiny blob of my normal conditioner just in case its didn't moisturise my hair as it is said to of. I hairdried my hair as usual and my hair was slightly moisturised and shiny. I usually wash my hair every other day but i didn't need to. Washing my hair with this on Monday meant I didn't need to wash it until...Thursday! As for the gorgous coconut smell, this only lasted a day :( . The block of trichomania lasts about 5/6 washes but this depends on you hair length and thickness. It would probably be good when you go on holiday or a long flight as you don't need to wash your hair as often. You can purchase it at any Lush store or online (www.lush.co.uk) for £4.65 for 100g.
Having really long hair end up with loads liquid shampoo big bottles around that simply occupy the space and it all gets consumed really quick. I loved the idea of solid shampoo because it can be stored in blocks and consumes less packaging and therefore reducing unnecessary waste, plus I keep forgetting to bring the empty shampoo bottle from the bathroom and put it in the recycling bin. When the idea of trying solid shampoo cornered in my mind I went on the internet and found several website who made them including Lush own website. I eventually ended up buying from a Lush store due to a coincidence of circumstances: I went out city shopping and I encountered a Lush store in my way so I ventured in. Looking at the section of solid shampoos bars there was quite a big selection and I was not sure which to buy so I asked the lady on the counter to advise me which ones are suitable for dry hair. I picked up eventually Trichomania . Unlike the other shampoo bars there who come already in an round shape this one was part of huge block and some slices cut in many different sizes. I wanted a tin to keep my shampoo in so I picked up the square Body Butter Tin for £2.95 also. The lady at counter offered to cut a slice big enough to fit in the tin which was a brilliant idea. Price wise Trichomania Solid shampoo costs £4.56 per 100g. What I was curious to find out in time is how long does a bar lasts. If it melted very quickly I could not afford to buy it all the time so I would be back to cheap liquid shampoos. All I can say is that I have had my bar for a month now and is only half gone, my hair is longer then waiste size and I wash every 5 days. The best way to use this solid shampoo for me is to rub the dripping wet hair between my palm and the shampoo bar. This way it will leather into a beautiful clean luxurious rich foam which is absolutely perfect. I noticed that I only need to leather my hair once and is left feeling very clean, no need to repeat after. After I wash my hair is best to leave the bar with the tin open for a day to allow it to dry, then is ready to put the cap back on the tin so that way it will never get soggy. The most important thing is that it did not dried my hair at all. My hair is always manageable and easy to brush until my next wash. One thing about moistening shampoos in general is that they make my hair go greasy really fast however this has not happened when I used the Tricolmania solid shampoo ever, it has the perfect moisture balance and keeps hair looking lush all the time. What makes washing my hair extremely pleasant is the smell for me. Trichomania smells like divine sweet heavy leathery creamy coconut, a very convincing smell where I can not detect any synthetic substances to it. The ultimate reasoned why I will repurchase this shampoo is due to it's list of basic natural ingredients and lack of parabens. All those chemicals in shampoos and my household products that I come in contact with every day can't be good for me so I try to minimize them as much as I can when possible, price permitting
To start off this review it is necessary to say that I am usually very wary of any product meant to 'moisturise' either my hair or skin - mostly because I feel that both already have FAR too much moisture as it is! But, since I trust the Lush sales assistant and LOVE the scent of coconut, I gave this shampoo a go. Trichomania is one of Lushs' solid shampoos. Unlike most of the others, this one isn't in a circular bar shape - instead, it comes in a giant lump from which your lump will be cut (usually 100g at a time, but any amount you want) It is creamy-white in appearance and looks really appealing (if you ask me...) The scent is mostly of coconut and is absolutely gorgeous - if this hadn't worked for my hair, I would have used it as a bath product or soap instead just so that I could continue to smell of it! To use, you break off a small chunk (for my thick, bum-length hair I only used a chunk around two thirds of an inch squared, I'd say) and either rub it into wet hair or make a sort of paste/liquid to rub into your hair. Either way, use it as you would a normal shampoo - massage it in then rinse thoroughly (maybe even follow with a dash of Coolaulin!) I was really worried I'd get out of the bath after using this, dry my hair and find that it looked greasy then have to re-wash it - however, I was so shocked - my hair was really soft and lovely, tame and smelt gorgeous! I wouldn't use this every day, as I still don't think my hair needs THAT much moisture - but as a once in a while hair treatment, for greasy hair this works wonders. For dry hair, well...you're lucky you'll get to use it more often, huh?!
This is one of Lush's famous solid shampoo bars, it can be bought in any amount you wish for but 100g is the norm and is cut off a huge truckle of the stuff, if you have ever been in one of the shops you will know what I mean, they are like the soaps in that respect. The shampoo bars come in nothing more than a slighlty waxed paper covering which really is all it needs. No liquid, no bottles, no mess, and terribly long lasting, I cannot recommend these enough they are fantastic. The ingredients of this particular product are beautiful. Trichomain means the love of hair and this certainly loves your hair a lot!! Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearic Acid, Creamed Coconut (Cocos nucifera), Glyceryl Stearate & PEG-100 Stearate, Cocamide DEA, Soya Lecithin, Perfume, Vetivert Oil It reads lovely and simply, with as few preservatives and additives as they possibly could get away with (hence it will have a use by date albeit a longish one and certainly acceptable for using the product up by). Creamed coconut is a wonderful thing. Tastes lovely in culinary uses and the results on skin and hair are fantastic. As well as leaving everything it touches sexy smelling, it also also calms, nourishes and moisturises each hair strand. Vetivert, well it is divine!! I am not sure of its effect on the hair but think of a damp forest floor, earthy, musky and woody, but not at all overpowering in smell. The 100g bar rubs a few times over the hair and lathers lovely. Just rub it around the scalp and the trickles of shampoo down the hair will be enough to clean it. It lathers wonderfully, with just a couple of generous rubs around the head and hair required. It rinses out lovely, and leaves behind a lovely smell and fragrance to the hair which will last a very long time even after conditioner has been used. For an extra hit try Lush Coolaulin liquid conditioner, fab ;). The hair is certainly fragrant but also softer and feels nourished and not stripped of goodness like so many shampoos can leave the hair like. To store, keep it dry when not in use of course, or else it will go gloopy and ruin it by going all sloppy and horrible. It will keep ok within itS paper covering if stored suitably. In summary, for £4.50, this bad boy is going to last you ages, and will compare to 2 or 3 bottles of regular shampoo. It is perfect for travelling too, no leaks or spills anywhere. It is a divine product which has been going for years and has stood the test of time.
Description: Solid Shampoo Bar (Shampoo only, none of this 2-in-1 nonsense), heavy on the coconut, and intended to tame wild/dry hair. It comes in chunks rather than shaped cakes like some of the other LUSH Shampoo bars, and sells on the website for £4.50 per chunk. In the shops, you can choose a chunk of whatever size you like, which is nice, economic way of doing it - those with short hair are not stuck with 6 months worth of solid shampoo, for example. Opinion: This is the first solid shampoo I have been brave enough to try, and I am very impressed with it. It lathers very easily - just stroke it over your scalp a few times and you get a lovely froth of plentiful foamy lather which is more than enough for my short hair, and would be just as good, I think, for longer hair. The smell is also divine - when they say 'creamed coconut' they *mean* creamed coconut - it is very sweet-smelling and creamy, and the scent lasts all day. It also makes the shower smell nice. Some reviews have commented that it does not seem to improve dry hair, but I have found that it works very well - my hair is quite coarse and thick, with a lot of kink and quite dry from colour treatments, and washing it with trichomania leaves it so clean that it squeaks, without any dryness at all. It is really gentle on my scalp, and I find that I don't need to use conditioner at all for every other wash. Best of all, it is very economical - the satsuma-sized chuck I bought has so far lasted a month, and does not yet look visibly diminished. It certainly lasts a lot longer than the LUSH liquid shampoos, and is holding up well against more main-stream brandname liquid shampoos in terms of value for money. And I love the eco-benefits of 0-packaging - no soapy bottle to recycle. In total, good price, lovely smell, easy to use, and excellent for thick, dry hair. I will certainly keep using this one.
Trichomania is a solid shampoo packed with coconut. Coconut is a very moisturising ingredient, so this product is meant to be a moisturising shampoo. It works extremely well, however, I would not say that it is in any way overly moisturising. I bought a huge chunk and used it for weeks on my normal to oily hair without any adverse effects. (Yes, I bought it just for the scent, it smells delicious... more on that later) How to use Many people are wary of using a shampoo that comes in solid form. However, it's the easiest thing in the world. Simply wet the hair and rub the shampoo bar arouns your head a few times - it will lather with the wet hair easily - the place the bar somewhere dry and use the lather in your hair to wash as normal. Effects It made my hair unbelievably soft and shiny. You really feel like you are using something completely nourishing and wonderful when you use it. My hair was easily manageable and very smooth. However, there were times when I would change to a normal shampoo just to give my hair a lift. This one seems very gentle and sometimes your hair needs something a little tougher. My absolute favourite thing about Trichomania is the smell. It smells like Bounty bars and fresh coconut and paradise and holidays all rolled into one. After using this, no matter what conditioner you use on your hair, it will smell of coconut until your next wash. I would recommend this for people who have normal to dry hair, sensitive scalps or just love the smell of coconut!
First, this bar is nothing to do with an STD, as I have heard people link it to that! It's named after TRICHOLOGY, the study of hair. The mania bit comes from someone who loves (or is MANIC) about their hair. It is also a double meaning, a shampoo for big hair that needs some controlling. So, for crazy/manic hair! Right. I have quite dry/thick/fluffy/kinky hair, shoulderlength. This is a nice shampoo for me, it lathers well, in fact of all Lush products I reckon this gives me the most lather. It is easy to use, just like rubbing a bar of soap around your hair, but it makes it look nicer! It smells lovely, of real coconut! Lasts for ages too, I got mine 3 months ago, use it about twice a week and still got a chunk left, at least enough for another month. However, this isn't quite moisturizing enough for my hair. I don't blame Lush for this, for hair less dry and thick it would be great, just not for me. I use this with Jungle and it does tame my hair, just not as much as I'd like. I'm not buying this again because I want a bit more moisture.
I wanted to try this solid shampoo as I wanted to get something for my holiday and thought that if I got a solid shampoo, it would be much more compact and I wouldn't have to worry about it leaking in my luggage. I've got quite dry hair due to bleaching so I always go for the coconut shampoos as I find them the most moisturising and I love the smell of them too. This solid shampoo bar looked ideal as it had loads of coconut in it and it smelt fab. A bar of this stuff is currently being sold for £4.50 at Lush stores and online. I got another shampoo bar of the same stuff because you get a free shampoo bar tin if you buy 2 and I could definitely do with one of them as it would make storing this a lot easier. So, how this shampoo works is; you run it under the warm shower water, lather it up in between your hands and then apply to wet hair and wash through like any other liquid shampoo. It might take slightly longer than if you were to apply a liquid shampoo directly to your hair but since I was on holiday I didn't mind this at all. I had about 3 washes to make sure my hair was nice and clean and then I used a nice thick conditioner (as I always do) to get any tangles out and make my hair les puffy and more manageable. I found that this shampoo gave me good results and the smell was really nice and stayed in my hair for ages. I've continued using this after my holiday and I find that the one bar has lasted me over three times the amount as a liquid shampoo has. I'm very pleased with this product and will definitely be getting some more, it's been an ideal shampoo on holiday; it didn't weigh much, didn't take much space in and I got loads of washes from it. It leaves my hair feeling very clean and soft and the scent is just perfect and lasts for days.
I am a great fan of Lush products and have been buying them for years. I like their green policies and that they don't test on animals in any way. This solid shampoo bar fits right in with their green policies - Lush make solid shampoos as they do not need any form of packaging - no plastic bottles filling up landfills! This is the first time I'd tried a solid shampoo that isn't one of the Lush bars, this is more a free form block of shampoo! I find that it is much easier to use if you divide the chunk up into smaller more manageable sizes. The first thing that attracted me to this shampoo was it was described as being for dry hair. I straighten my hair once a day and it is also chemically dyed so it's pretty dry! The cold weather also plays havoc with it! As I bought this from Lush's website, I never had the chance to smell the product before I purchased it. But having smelt other Lush products containing similair ingrediants (the main being coconut) I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. The shampoo works the same way as any of Lush's other solid shampoos - simply grab a chunk and rub it through your hair a few times and it lathers up like any other shampoo. I have shoulder length hair and find I only need to rub a small chunk through about 3 or 4 times to work up enough of a lather. After rinshing my hair smelt lovely and sweet like coconuts. It felt squeky clean which worried me slightly as this normally means my hair is going to be dry and fluffy after blow drying, but it stayed nice and smooth and felt soft to the touch, even without straightening. I did use conditioner after wards, but then I always have to anyway.
