“ Brand: Johnsons / What it does: Detangle, „
I have been buying Johnson's products for my children since they were born as it is a brand I know and trust to be kind to their skin and hair. The detangler spray is something that I originally bought for my daughter when she was a toddler and is something that she still uses now that she is a "tween" As anyone with daughters will know brushing their hair after a bath can be a somewhat tortuous experience. This is where the detangler spray comes in handy as it helps to make the whole experience a little easier and quicker. You just need to spray the detangler on wet or dry hair (I find it works best when the hair is wet) and brush as normal. It is amazing how a few squirts of the spray can manage to take hair that resembles a birds nest and make it smooth and silky within a few minutes. After spraying the hair putting the brush through it is simple and pain free. The tangles and knots that were previously there just dissapear and the brush glides through the hair with ease. When the hair is dry the detangler leaves no sticky residue of any kind and you would be hard pressed to be able to tell that you had sprayed any product on the hair. There is no grease and no hardness like you would get with a gel spray or hairspray. It also contains Johnson's no more tears promise and is supposed to be as gentle as water in the eyes. I have accidenitaly sprayed my eyes a few times with it over the years and I can say that I have never noticed that it stung or caused me any pain. As you only need to spray the hair a few times for it to work a bottle also lasts for ages so it works out really reasonable especially as t only costs me £1.99.
Johnson's Junior detangling spray is a godsend for me when I am attempting to brush my daughter's curly hair. If I tried to brush it without this spray, I'd get absolutely nowhere! You can use it on wet or dry hair, spraying it down the length of the hair, making it much easier to get a brush through. My daughter will now (mostly!) sit still for me to brush her hair if I use the detangling spray, so that just goes to show it really does work. The bottle size is 150ml, which doesn't sound much, but a little goes a long way in this case and even using it every day it takes a couple of months to get through. The bottle is pink, which a rather strange comb caricature on the front! The spray top has a screw attachment to the bottle so you could reuse for somethign else it once empty if you wanted. I was almost expecting this spray to make my daughter's hair greasy, but it really doesn't - in fact it helps to define her curls. It has a pleasant fragrance, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a child with difficult to comb hair!
As all parents and carers of little girls or boys with long hair know, getting them to stay still to get the comb or brush through the knots and lugs can be both stressful for the adult and child. However I think I have just about discovered a miracle! I have bought this product for my little girl who has very long hair. It works well when her hair is wet and also when it is dry, all you have to do is spray it in, there is no need for rinsing it afterwards, her brush glides through her hair and it also smells very sweet and clean. It makes the school run that little bit easier too, as it is very simple to use, my 5 year old daughter even spays it herself and brushes her own hair, I just help her out with the back where she can't reach. I also find this spay ideal when I am styling her hair into a pony tail or a plait as it makes it a little bit damp and easy to brush, therefore styling it a lot easier and quicker! It also has the no more tears formula, therefore if it gets sprayed in the eyes, it does not hurt or sting (yes this has happened to my little girl oops!) I even use this on my own hair, its that good. I purchased this from boots at £1.95 which I think is a bargain and it can be popped in your handbag for those times such as after a swimming session when hair is most knotty!
My two year old daughter will curse me when she is older, I have passed down the 'birds nest' gene to her. Her hair is shoulder length when wet but ear length dry as it pings up into tight ringlets. This looks lovely, but it is not easy to brush or put up. However all princesses need pretty bunches, plaits and ponytails so I have tried every trick in the book to make life easier. Our final desperate try was Johnson's Junior Easy Combing Spray from Boots at a very reasonable £1.99 for 150mls. I was praying it would help since the little darling also put three packs of hair bobbles into the basket! * Packaging * The bottle is plastic and bubble gum pink, it has a spray nozzle on top which is clear. The picture on the front is a comb with a face on, the face has bunches so I told my daughter if she used it her hair would go up like that too. It claims to 'make caring for hard-to-manage hair easy'. The ingredients are all chemicals although it isn't as long a list as some other products. There are no instructions on the pack, it just says 'For wet and dry hair' Izzie loves the bottle, she calls it Mummy's Pink Puff * The test * I use it on Izzie's hair dry, we spray on about 6 squirts all over and comb it straight away. Most knots come out straight away, others need another squirt. Overall though it took less than half the time it usually would, and loads less tears. The time when this product really comes into its own however, is when you are trying to put crazy hair into a tiny hair bobble. Isabelle wanted two French plaits for a party last week, normally I'd plait it and it would come out in seconds, but this time I drenched the hair in this spray and I could plait it neatly and it stayed for hours. It stopped the flyaway bits... um flying away. After taking the hair down later it was a bit sticky, and certainly needs washing more often, but at least it looks less like a birds nest now. The liquid is a milky colour but goes on perfectly clear on the hair. * Smell * Izzie wants to be like Mum now, she is nearing three and wants all the lipstick and perfume. This is our compromise, this spray smells floral, and she thinks she is using perfume when she applies it, quite often her friends will comment on it. * Availability * I have seen this for sale at Asda's and Boot's Johnson's is quite a popular brand and I have never had any trouble getting hold of it. I can see this bottle lasting about 6 months. It is good value for money. I expect this product would be most useful to either curly or very frizzy hair, which is prone to tangles but any hair would benefit from it if it tends to have flyaway bits when up. I have to give this 5 stars since I just couldn't live without it now.
Johnsons detangler. With a little miss who swims every week, and who also has quite unruly hair, we do notice a difference in hair manageability depending on whether we use detangler or not. We have used the Johnson Junior products on many occasions, and I tend to find them effective, so we decided on a change from our usual detangler, to give this one a go. ~~What/Who is it for?~~ The detangler doesnt come with any warnings about it being unsuitable for anyone, although the pull off top is small so careful with very young children. Its apparently for anyone who wants their wet or dry hair detangled. The formula gets to work straight away and unlocks knots and tangles so the theory goes ~~Product and Packaging~~ The product comes in a pink plastic bottle with a pull of top. Ingredients and instructions are clearly stated on the back of the bottle. The product itself comes out of the bottle as a fine spray, once the spray mechanism is pressed. It smells very fruity, but the general consensus of opinion between Little Miss and myself is that the over riding smell is strawberries. ~~How to use it~~ There is a warning that the product is for eternal use, and that it should not be sprayed in the face. Once clear about that, then its remarkably simple to use. Simply spray onto the hair and then comb or brush as usual. ~~Price and Availability~~ The detangler costs £1.99 FOR 150ml. It seems a small bottle but does last for ages because a little goes a long way. ~~Other products in the range~~ Easy Rinsing Foam Shampoo Easy Combing Shampoo ~~Made by~~ Johnson and Johnson ~~What we think of it~~ Being an advocator of these type of products, and already liking the Johnson Junior products, it was highly likely that the verdict would be positive- which it is. The detangler is easy to use and smells nice. I find the best way to use it is to spray a small amount lightly all over the hair, and then when it is combed through it can be distributed equally. The product does make hair more manageable, and we have no screeching fits, and no Little Miss hanging onto her head for dear life. For a reasonably priced, pleasant smelling, easy to use detangler, I would recommend this. Thanks for reading. Daniela x
Like many other little girls, my almost four year old daughter loves her long hair! But unfortunately, also like many other little girls she really does not like having her hair brushed or combed because it hurts when there are tangles. So, I was really beginning to despair because every time I tried to brush her hair there was upset and tears. So much so, that the moment she saw me with a hairbrush she would say 'ouch!' - and I hadn't even touched her hair! So I had to make a decision - either allow her to go around with messy tangly hair for ever or find something that was going to help! I needed to buy some other things from Boots so while I was doing my online order I put in a search for a 'detangler' and this one from Johnsons came up. Well, the first thing I noticed is that it comes in a bright pink plastic bottle which I knew would go down very well with my daughter! (It probably wouldn't go down so well witrh boys - but then long, tangly hair is generally less of a problem for them anyway!). When I read the product description it said that it had been specially designed to tempt even the most stubborn toddlers into the bathroom and that it was gentle and easy to use! Also it only cost £1.99 for a 150ml bottle so I thought that if it worked it would definitely be money well spent! It was duly added to my shopping basket and a few days later it arrived with the rest of my order. I was looking forward to see how my daughter would react to it and whether it would work! The next time I needed to brush Rachel's hair, I showed her the spray and told her that it was going to help make brushing her hair easier and it would not hurt (fingers crossed at this stage as I had not tried it!). She did look at me rather doubtfully though, hardly believing that anything would make brushing her hair easier but she did decide to give it a go! I sprayed it on her dry hair (you can use it on either wet or dry) and the first thing she said was that the spray was cold and that it tickled! This didn't seem to bother her though - in fact she thought it was quite funny! Now it was time for the real test though! Was it going to work? We both held our breaths as I took the brush and started to go through her hair. Incredibly the brush virtually glided through with very little resistance at all - one or two of the worst tangles were still a bit stubborn but overall the difference was amazing! My daughter's reaction was that it had to be magic! Also, the spray does not seem to leave any residue on her hair - if anything it seems to help create a healthy sheen. So now everytime I need to brush her hair I just ask her to fetch me 'the magic spray' and we have no problems at all. Phew! What a relief! As you only need about two or three sprays to work on her entire hair it also looks like it is going to last a long time, so at £1.99 it was definitely money well spent! The bottle does seem to have a list of ingredients etc on the back, but I have to say that the writing is so small that you really do need a magnifying glass to read what it says. However, all the usual safety warnings regarding young children would apply which is basically don't let them play with it and definitely not to drink it! So overall, both Rachel and I thoroughly recommend Johnson's Junior detangler. Rachel's hair now looks beautifully tidy and there are now no more tears at hair washing and brushing time!
