I was recommended this shampoo by a friend and have been so pleased to take her advice. This Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Shampoo makes our hair wavy! I have tried a few other shampoos for wavy / curly hair but I have not had the same results. The reason I keep buying it is because it helps hold the curl when I blow dry my hair. Or if I leave it to dry naturally and then finish with blow drying it just holds a really shiny curly look. I do have long hair by the way, which is wavy but not in a good way! I find that this shampoo works best after a few washes and you need to work on the curls. My friend just 'scrunches' her hair dry and she feels the same it holds the curl better. On the minus side I must say you need to be careful as it comes out fast and the hole is large on the bottle so I always feel as if I am wasting it, as I end up with a big dollop. However it smells lovely! The price ranges from shop to shop, I like to get it on offer on the bigger bottle size. I genuinely always have this in my bathroom and it may not suit everyone, but if you try it I would recommend thinking about how it holds the curls as you blow dry your hair around a brush (best when it is nearly dry, then you can see how it holds the shape of the curls), use it a few times to judge. I use this hair to get a curlier look, I like the smell, it comes in a range of sizes and you can get it on offer if you shop around. I would recommend it to try.
I am familiar with Herbal Essences products and have used them for several years. They are a brand that I know and trust and their products usually work well for my hair bar a select few. Unfortunately this shampoo was one of those products that didn't have amazing effects on my hair. I have really thick wavy hair that goes to my mid back and its layered. Naturally frizz is a massive problem for me as my hair is super thick. If I have a bad shampoo it makes my hair look like a total mess so I am very picky in the products I used. At first I was skeptical at buying this as this shampoo is meant to be volumizing something I don't tend to go for in shampoos because it makes my hair frizzy. In the end I decided to bite the bullet and just buy it as I love the look of natural tousled hair. I bought the shampoo and conditioner as a buy one get one free offer in boots. The shampoo cost £3.89 which on its own is expensive but for a conditioner as well it is fairly reasonable. The packing is pretty basic and practical. The bottle has a curved shape like all Herbal Essences shampoos which I like as it is something different. The base of the bottle is also wider which is good as it helps the bottle to stay upright. You have to push down on the lid which opens a small hole in which the product gets pushed through. I personally don't like this because I always forget to push down on the lid so lots of product collects in the cap. I would have preferred a normal flip top shampoo. The actual product has a nice medium consistency and isn't too runny. It has a nice light floral scent to it which is absolutely divine. You don't need much product to get a nice soapy lather which is good. The shampoo also washes off easily as well. My hair was left feeling fresh and clean and it also felt lighter than usually which was great. However it didn't do much for my frizz, it didn't make my hair more frizzy nor did it help my frizz. My hair wasn't left tousled like the bottle claimed it would be. My hair did smell nice though. Unfortunately the scent only lingered for a few hours. Overall this shampoo did a good job at cleaning my hair and it did make my hair feel lighter. However I wasn't left with tousled hair and defined waves so I was disappointed. I won't be buying this shampoo again but I will use it up as it does do a good job at cleaning my hair.
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Shampoo - 200ml £1 at ASDA and 400ml £2 (in the 3 for £4 offer) This shampoo is sold as being suitable for people with naturally wavy hair... Being up for trying almost anything to tame my masses of locks (think Hagrid) I thought I would give this a go after having read a review for the product. The shampoo is apparently scented with wild violet & pomegranate extracts (Don't worry it smells nothing like Parma violets which was my worry)... The smell is nice and floral with fruity notes through it. I try to always use 'matching' products on my hair so have always followed this with the conditioner from the same range. The shampoo itself comes in a clear bottle (my issues with the conditioner is that it doesn't so I never now when it's going to run out). It is designed so that it will stand firmly on it's head so you don't have to wait for the product to 'slip' down the sides when it is running out. The shampoo itself is a pale translucent violet colour, and is a nice consistency. I always apply it to hair that is 'very' wet, as I find if my hair is too dry that it will not lather properly which for some may be an issue. I also tend to rinse my hair with it twice, and the second time I have to use considerably less shampoo as if I don't then it lathers rather too well, which isn't an issue unless you are in a hurry as it can take an age to wash out. The scent of the shampoo is very nice, and it lasts as well as many other shampoos do. After use my hair does feel clean and soft (I always use the conditioner too so cannot comment on how soft just the shampoo would leave my hair). The range claims to leave your hair virtually tangle free - and it has been relatively easy to pull a brush through my hair after the use of this, and when my hair has dried it has been nicely soft. However I still get flyaway hair, and it would still require product to leave it tousled softly - I personally blame my hair for this not the product as frankly I can't expect miracles it's only a shampoo rather than an actual hair dresser in a bottle.. I would highly recommend this as it smells great, and it does leave my hair soft and manageable.
I normally look for the shampoos which are on offer or on multi-buy deals, and 9/10 times the Herbal Essences range are included in these offers. I normally go for whichever shampoos aren't for coloured hair and which I think smell the nicest on that given day. I sometimes leave out the ones for brown hair of dandruff as well. On this occasion, I decided on the 'Tousle me softly' because I like the violet smell and like all Herbal Essences, it smelled super fruity! I like my shampoos to smell super fruity so that throughout the day I can stop and think "wow, my hair is smelling great today!" and this one definitely delivers. After washing my hair in the morning, spending the day at work or college and them coming home, my hair is still smelling nice and fresh! I've found that the smell stays with you for most of the Herbal Essences range though. The shampoo gets a really good lather so I find that I don't have to use a huge amount of it. Normally I find that with the H.E range I don't have to use a huge amount of their shampoo across the board either. I did find (and especially with the Tousled range) and you seriously don't need a lot of the conditioner. It takes a couple of tries to get it spot on, and when you do you hair feels really soft and light for the whole day. The first few times I used it, I used too much and my hair was limp and kind of greasy all day. If you persevere, and use slightly less than you think you need, you will be fine. Another good thing about the H.E range is that they do a variety of different sizes of the bottles. The smaller ones are ideal for packing for a holiday, and the larger ones can offer really good savings if the range is on offer. There is also a large amount of tie-in products for the range, so you're bound to find a hairspray or mousse which matches the smell of your shampoo! Personally, I found that just using the shampoo didn't give my hair a particularly 'tousled' look. I'm still going to rate it highly, because it's really good as a shampoo and conditioner combination, it just didn't work for my hair. Perhaps we just weren't supposed to be together.
This is a nice shampoo that leaves your hair smelling fantastic. The results are almost professional but it doesn't have the high price tag of many other shampoos. You use this shampoo like any other. Dampen your hair and rub a small amount in. It doesn't take an awful lot to make your hair nice and foamy and your bathroom is filled with a fantastic fruity smell. The smell is one of the biggest advantages of the herbal essence range. It doesn't smell too chemically but it really seems to stay in your hair and I have received many compliments about how lovely my hair smells! I don't think I've ever had that with any other shampoo. This shampoo isn't too heavy and leaves your hair feeling soft and nourished. This type is called 'tousle me softy' is for wavy hair and I think it really is great for my naturally wavy (but quite frizzy hair). As my hair is so soft and light the frizz is slightly tamed and it enhances by natural wave leaving it controlled and I would be fine with wearing it naturally rather than having to straighten it to tame the frizz. It's hard to believe that I can have thus all for under £2 and you can often buy the shampoo and conditioner in boots in various deals. My hair is in great condition despite dying it regularly and using a hairdryer and straighteners on it almost everyday and even my hairdryer commented on it being in great condition. I believe this is due to regular use of this product.
I love the Herbal Essence dazzling shine shampoo and conditioners, but in Boots all of the herbal essence shampoos were half price so I thought I'd give 'Tousle Me Softly' a go. If I leave my hair to dry naturally it goes very wavy (some would say frizzy!) and I thought maybe this would help get it under control. What does the product do? Obviously, as this is a shampoo, its first goal is to get your hair squeaky clean but it promises to do so without stripping your hair of any moisture which would lead to the dreaded frizziness. It is supposed to control the hair and leave you with lovely waves and tousled hair as well as coating it with the scent of Pomegranate and Wild Violet. How you use the product? The product is to be used in the same way as any other shampoo. It is to be applied to damp hair generously and massaged into the scalp through to the ends of the hair, and then rinsed out thoroughly. It needs to be followed up by a good conditioner and then dried and styled in the usual way. Packaging and Price The product comes in a purple coloured bottle and you can see the shampoo inside. The bottle is slightly curved and this makes it easily for it to fit comfortably in your hand the picture on the front of the bottle is made of swirls. The lid is flat and you push down on one side of the bottle in order to release the shampoo. You push down on the other side in order to close the bottle again. The product costs around £4 for a 400ml bottle although it is on half price in Boots at the moment and also smaller and therefore cheaper bottles are also available. You can buy the product from plenty of online websites, most department stores and large supermarkets. Application The shampoo is fairly easy to dispense from the bottle although you do have to squeeze hard. You can smell the shampoo straight away and you can enjoy the smell for the whole time that you massage it into the hair. You get masses of bubbles when you massage this stuff in which makes you feel like your hair is having a really good clean. The shampoo feels completely comfortable while I am using it and it hasn't caused any discomfort or irritations. Performance The shampoo does clean my hair and it gets all of my styling products out. It also continue to smell nice long after it's been styled. It is easy to brush through but I do find this shampoo quite drying. In the same way as 'Hello Hydration' I find that its claim that it doesn't strip the hair of moisture is false. Therefore my hair becomes frizzy and hard to control, and my hair looks dull instead of shiny and tangles more. If you have dry or normal hair already then this isn't worth buying and I find 'Dazzling Shine' is much more effective in the hydration stakes. My hair doesn't look tousled or wavy... It looks like a dried out nest. Conclusion This shampoo made my hair dull and dry, and in my opinion, it is one to be avoided like 'Hello Hydration.' It didn't really live up to my expectations and I've binned my bottle. Needless to say, I won't be repurchasing.
I have been told in the past that wavy hair is own of the easiest types of hair to work with; however in my life time experience I have to disagree, having had many a fly away hair day or hair that will not straighten but just flick out at the ends. The last few years have been a constant battle with the weather, as I have sought to over straighten my rebellious locks to prevent them from getting out of control. Despite this, I have had many a word of wisdom telling me that I should be thankful with what I have and so at the beginning of this year I decided to make the most of my wavy hair and try to use products that enhanced the wave rather than went against it. ==The Product== Herbal Essence produce a range of quality hair products each with their own unique hair preference and this is given in the colour of the bottle with each colour representing a different hair characteristic (straight, wavy, curly etc.). I remember the days when these products used to come in a pretty bottle with a flower illustration in the background, however recently Herbal Essence have had a complete overhaul so that now their bottles look quite funky and modern in design. This shampoo is part of the range of products for wavy hair or hair that is likely to frizz including the shampoo, conditioner and hair mousse. Herbal Essence claims that this shampoo will provide a refreshing clean but will not strip the hair of essential moisture and will promote a wavy tousled look. The shampoo is packaged in a transparent upright bottle which is a light mauve in colour and serves to allow you to see the light purple shampoo inside. The bottle is topped with a lime green cap which has to be flipped open to access the contents. As with all Herbal Essence shampoos and conditioners, this shampoo comes in two size options those being a 200ml bottle and a 400ml bottle. ==The Shampoo== This shampoo has a gel like consistency and pours very easily out of the cap when opened. The shampoo has a light and berry fragrance which can be attributed to the wild violet and pomegranate ingredients and I have to say that if I were rating this shampoo on smell alone it would get a five star rating from me. The smell is very feminine and leaves a lovely soft smell in your hair which lingers for a good day after washing. ==Price and Availability== This shampoo can be bought from a range of supermarkets and convenience stores and I picked mine up from my local Wilkinson as part of a bargain offer. A 200ml bottle will usually set you back from between £1 - £2 and a 400ml bottle from £3 - £4 although this does depend on the store purchased in and the offers on the day. The low price of this shampoo makes it a bargain in my opinion and means that if you don't like it you haven't spent a good deal of money initially. However, I would advise to go with the 200ml bottle before committing to a larger bottle otherwise you will have a lot of shampoo to use up. ==Application== Herbal Essence recommend that this shampoo is applied to wet hair, massaged in to the scalp and rinsed. This process should then be followed up with the Tousle Me Softly conditioner or optimum results. ==My Experience== I have used this shampoo and the related conditioner for around a month now and despite the lovely smell that it gives my hair I have to admit to it not really doing anything else for me. The shampoo lathers well when massaged into my hair and rinses out easily; although its tousling qualities have left a little to be desired. I generally like to wash my hair and then leave to dry naturally, due to the fact that it doesn't dry out my locks and therefore my hair will often go wavy when left to dry in this way. However, this shampoo does not tend to enhance these waves but rather weighs my hair down in a way in which some patches are straight others wavy and... you get the general picture.. my hair is a bit of a mess. Whilst my hair is soft after use and does feel moisturised it also feels less springy and dare I say it greasy after about a day. Maybe my expectations were unrealistic, maybe I am just too influenced by the perfect wavy locks that we see on many a celebrity at the beach. Whatever the case this shampoo was less than perfect for me and gave me super messy hair rather than perfect waves. I can see that it might be more effective on people with much thicker hair as it might reduce the frizz however on me it just wouldn't play ball. I would therefore be cautious about recommending this shampoo in the future. As a result of the above, I will be scoring this shampoo two stars out of five, the most redeeming feature being the lovely smell of the shampoo and the great value for money. I hope this review has been of some help and thanks for reading! x
I tend to quite like the Herbal Essences range so when I saw there was a new one in my local supermarket and that it was on offer I decided I would give it a try. The shampoo is supposed to be for a tousled look so I thought it may give my hair a little bit of life as it seems to be very lifeless at the moment. The shampoo also has a matching conditioner, the shampoo is available in 200ml and 400mls and costs £2 for the 200mls and £3.32 for the 400mls, the conditioner is available in the same sizes. I always watch out for the Herbal Essences range on offers as I don't like to pay full price and ikt does seem to come on offers regularily. The product comes in a bright purple plastic bottle, I think the colour of the bottole is lovely and the logo of Clairol is in holographic green which stands out really well. The shampoo contains wild violet and pomegranate extract and is meant for naturally wavy hair, my hair is not totally straight but also not really curly so I though this would give my hair a good boost. The shampoo inside the bottle smells lovely, I think it smells like blueberries personally and don't smell any voilets or pomegrante. The shampoo is easy to use like you would expect, you simply wet your hair and then place the shampoo into your hand and lather into your hair, the shampoo is of a fairly thick consistency and it lathers up really well which I find with all the Herbal Essences range. I think my hair feels silky when it is coated in the shampoo and the smell fills the bathroom nicely. The shampoo washes out of my hair really well and doesn't leave any residue in my hair, I always follow shampoo with conditioner as my hair is down to about halfway down my back now so does end up knotting easily. My hair is left feeling soft with this shampoo and it smells great, the smell lasts in my hair for a day or so which is nice. My hair didn't seem to have any more life to it with this shampoo than with any other shampoo and I certainly wouldn't recommend it for the tousling effect. The shampoo does leave my hair nice though and due to this I would buy it again it is soft, shiny and managable just minus the tousle.
Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly Shampoo I bought this shampoo from superdrug about a month ago, close to when it was released, and it sounded like just the kind of shampoo I wanted. I have tried a couple of herbal essences shampoos before, such as the volumizing shampoo, which was disappointing - so I didn't really have high hopes for this shampoo but I thought I would try it as it was on offer. - About the product and packaging The bottle for this shampoo is fairly simple, quite colourful and the text is easy to read. The bottle I have is 400ml and the bottle has information on it about the ingredients of the shampoo and a full ingredient list. The shampoo claims to contain botanical silk extract, wild violet and pomegranate extracts - although there are a lot of unnatural/man made ingredients in this product too. This shampoo claims to reveal your hairs natural shine and to make your hair more tousled - a wavy/curly 'perfectly effortless caressable mess'. - Product description (from Herbal essences uk site) "a perfectly effortless caressable mess. this refreshingly clean shampoo provides all the toss and turn you yearn for. who knew messy could be so beautiful? couple with conditioner then finish with finishing touch cream to toss and tumble your way to touchably soft locks." - Scent and consistency The consistency of this shampoo is quite nice, it has a fairly thick gel like consistency and it has a very smooth gel like texture too. The scent of this product is really nice - it is one of the main things I like about this product. The scent to me is that of flowers, probably violets, as they are one of the main/promoted natural ingredients in this product. The scent is quite fresh, floral and a bit fruity too. - Using the product I use this product as I use any shampoo, I just wet my hair, then I apply quite a lot of shampoo as my hair is fairly thick and really long too (down to the small of my back). I apply a bit more than a £2 coin size amount and I lather the product up in my hair. I find that a lot of cheaper shampoos (and some fairly expensive shampoos) do not lather up well, which means that I cannot really cleanse my scalp with those types of shampoos. Although this shampoo, which is really cheap, lathers up really well! The shampoo lathers up really quite quickly, which was a pleasant surprise and as this shampoo lathers up the gorgeous floral, fresh and fruity scent becomes very noticeable which is also nice. The shampoo is really nice to apply, especially because of the scent and the large amount of lather produced by this shampoo. Although the rinsing out is not as nice as the application, as when I rinse this shampoo out of my hair is makes the ends of my hair really tangled - but the rest of my hair is clean feeling and fairly tangle free. Once I apply my conditioner, which at this time is the aussie mega instant conditioner, then tangles are gone from my hair. Overall, rinsing this shampoo out is not very nice due to the tangles and it does take a while to rinse out all of the shampoo from my hair too. - Results The results from this product were really quite disappointing, which is not surprising really. After my hair is rinsed out and dried naturally I find that it is no different to when I use any other shampoo. This shampoo has no effect on my hairs natural waves/curls, it does not emphasize them or make them more defined at all. I also find that after I have used this shampoo my hair becomes greasier quicker, which is not good and the scent does not last in my hair. The final result of this product for me is that it irritates my scalp, skin and the patch of eczema on my hand. This effect lasts for the time I use the shampoo and until I wash my hair again, which is really disappointing. Overall, the only positive results of this shampoo is that it seems to cleanse my hair fairly well for the first day but the only other results are negative - it irritates my skin and scalp, it does not do any thing to my hair at all and it seems to make my hair become greasier quicker! - Price and availability I bought this 400ml shampoo from superdrug about a month or so ago and it was on an introductory offer of under £2 I think. This shampoo can be bought from asda for £2 (for a 400ml bottle) and tesco for £2 (again for a 400ml bottle). There is also a conditioner, hair mask and a finishing cream in this range but I will not be buying anything else from this range after the disappointing and irritating results from this shampoo. Conclusions Positives *Very cheap - even for a 400ml bottle *Scent is gorgeous - although it does not last in my hair *Lathers up really well Negatives *Irritates my scalp and skin! And this irritation lasts until I wash my hair again *Does nothing to my hair - it does not emphasize my hair natural waves, it does not make my hair look tousled, it does not make my waves/curls more defined and it does not make my hair more shiny (unless this means greasy) *After using this shampoo my hair becomes greasier quicker *Rinsing this product out of my hair is not very nice as it leaves the ends of my hair quite tangled (so I have to use more conditioner than normal) Thank you for reading my review
When it comes to my hair usually I straighten it. I have wavy hair, with a few odd curls in it otherwise and my hair is prone to greasy roots and a frizzy mid section which is why I try to control it by straightening it. However I would love a shampoo and/or conditioner that would allow me to more like wash and go my hair. To gently tame what I have and not to have to feel the need to straighten it. If I don't though its a mess and I get a really annoying flick to the bottom of my hair which is just plain embarrassing looking and even more noticeable now I have jaw length hair! So the other day whilst in my local Wilkinson's store I spotted this shampoo on offer for £1.00 a bottle. Not only did the packaging of this catch my eye being really sleek and attractive looking but I felt this may help me on my quest for a more natural do so I popped both the shampoo and the matching conditioner into my basket to try out! The Packaging: The bottle of this is purple but still see through and made of plastic and is tall and oblongish in shape with a flip top matching coloured and bright green lid to it. On the front of it we are told that it is Clairol Herbal Essences 'New' Tousle Me Softly 'For A tousled look', Shampoo 'With wild violet & pomegranate extracts' and that it is for naturally wavy hair. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a little bit about the product and how to use it, the ingredients and the size is stated (which in this case is a 200ml sized bottle) and contact details for Herbal Essences are given. Nice enough to look at bottle this is and its informative enough and easy to handle and use as well. The Shampoo Itself: Light lilac and transparent this has a nice consistency to it which is not too runny but not to thick and you don't need much of this lightweight feeling in use shampoo at all to get a nice lather going on damp/wet hair. The fragrance of this is one of violet and is a little on the sweet and fruity side too with I guess the pomegranate extract giving that sweetness. It's a nice enough fresh fragrance anyway! It feels smooth in use, releases the fragrance when in use and rinses out with ease too and of course if desired you can repeat the process and move on to conditioner if you wish. This shampoo left my hair feeling light and not weighed down in a really pleasant way. My hair felt clean and smooth and the whole of my hair felt soft but naturally so to the touch along with the fragrance of this lingering in my hair subtly for a good few hours as well. It seemed to tame my frizz a bit, not upset my greasy roots and to not add volume or take any out wither. Quite simply I was pleased with this shampoo. However it didn't give my hair a tousled look really. My hair didn't look more curly or wavy though what I did have did look less frizzy, still though apart from my hair feeling fresh and clean and a tad less frizzy it didn't offer me wearable tousles hair either sadly! All in all this is an ok shampoo and certainly left a soft sheen to my hair and it felt touchably soft, other than that though I can't say it fulfilled its promises completely but its ok! Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc and if not on offer this 200ml size will be closer to £2.00 a bottle.
