      Hasn't got the x factor.

I am desperate to have glossy glowing hair. A friedn of mine has beautiful hair and I asked her what shampoo and conditioner she recommended, and it was this, Aveda, Shampure conditioner. The name confused me at first as it sounds like more of a shampoo's name (which it is also) and this is the corresponding conditioner.

Shampure promises to revitalise thin lifeless, hair, and I definitely fall into that catagory. My hair is thin and has no volume. I used to be convinced it was dry and damaged, but my hair dresser tells me if I use those sorts of shampoo it will only weigh my hair down even more.

I think this is a very expensive conditioner, the cheapest I could find it was on amazon for around eleven pounds incluidng postage, and that was for a 250ml bottle. I certainly wasn't going to invest in a bigger bottle until I had seen this ones worth, especially at the price of it. A bigger bottle is of course better value pence per ml though.

The conditioner itself is well packaged, definitely indicating a premium brand. The lid has one end which you push down, which in turn pops the other end up and bares a hole which dispenses the conditioner. The conditioner itself is white and creamy, and has no real strong smell. It is easy to rub into the hair and feels nice and soft. I apply it mainly to the ends of my hair and work a tiny bit upwards, but stear clear of the roots.

I always leave it to soak in for a minute or two before I wash it off. The conditioner is nice and easy to wash off, it doesn't need several washes, and leaves my hair feeling refreshed and clean.

It doesn't yet seem to give me the extras, which I do get from some other conditioners. By this I mean it doesn't seem to add extra shine or boost the glossiness of my hair. It doesn't make it feel super smooth and super soft. I hope that the problem is that this conditioner is really really good for you and doesn't waste it's time with the superficial things and instead works on really conditioning your hair deep down.

I will continue to use the rest of the bottle, of course at this price! But after that, unless I have noticed a real change, I won't be buying it again. It wouldf have to be five stars to jusitify it's cost, but sadly at the moment it is only a three star product for me, with a five star price tag!!

Want a true spa experience? It's in this bottle.

Ingredients: aqueous (water/aqua/eau) extracts/extraits aqueux: mentha piperita (peppermint) leaf, rosemarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower extract, cetyl alcohol, glyceryl stearate, stearalkonium chloride, hydrlyzed brazil nut protein, hydroxypropyltrimonium hydrolyzed wheat protein, wheat amino acids, hydrolyzed wheat protein pg-propyl silanetriol, panthenol, fragrance (parfum)*, geraniol, linalool, benzyl benzoate, citronellol, limonene, cetrimonium chloride, distearyldimonium chloride, peg-100 stearate, polyquaternium-4, glycerin, citric acid, sodium gluconate, sorbic acid, phenoxyethanol, chlorphenesin

A few months ago I finally signed up for an Aveda Pure Privileges card and when I did, I got a little goody bag. In it, was a travel bottle of this conditioner.

The travel bottle is an exact miniature of the full size bottle, which makes me happy, because I have hope that the full-size bottle is easier to squeeze. The plastic is pretty sturdy, so while not leaching and possibly giving you or the planet cancer, you are also presented with the challenge of removing 1.7 fl oz. from something as firm as an unripe kiwi. Anyways, the conditioner inside is a pretty bland looking white color, but that is okay. I was actually happy that no extra dyes were put in this, thus assuring me of the quality of the product.

Now, the smell is something I would like to take a minute to talk about. I didn't at first find the smell particularly remarkable. I thought of it as just a typical herbal smell, and thought it a pretty safe choice and thus the entire product a safe choice to be included in a goody bag to be given to any type of consumer who would be signing up for Pure Privileges. But as I conditioned my hair, and had to add a bit more to it (the detangling properties could use a little work) I noticed how relaxed I got. Actually, more relaxed than I'd ever been in the shower. More relaxed than I'd ever been combing my hair in the shower, and certainly more relaxed than I'd ever been even when I had to add more conditioner because the initial amount was not enough. I breathed in deeper and deeper. I thought I was in some other hair care product's commercial having a very different experience. I really like the scent of this product. If a product can get me to relax with my problem hair, I'm sold.

I didn't get to try this enough to notice any real difference in the quality of my styling products in conjunction with this, but the whole relax in the shower experience was enough for me to buy it again.

After reading about Aveda I was very excited about trying their range. I was recommended the Shampure shampoo and conditioner by my local Aveda representative. With the quite hefty price tag I was expecting a really exceptional quality product. But I must say, it was quite average. Although it smells nice enough and does condition the hair, I didn't really notice any difference from the high street conditioner I was currently using. I would be happy enough to use it, it does do what a conditioner should, but it doesn't do anything extra. For the money you pay, it's not worth it. One plus point is the fact that it comes in small trial 50ml size, which means you can try it quite cheaply.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Shampure is one of my favourite shampoos, so when the conditioner was launched in the country I expected to become an immediate fan. Sadly, that was not the case. The first let-down came as soon as I opened the bottle. It really doesn't have that distinctive Shampure smell that I love so much. The conditioner itself was OK, but nothing to write home about. It's supposed to be more conditioning than Rosemary and Mint but less so than Curessence. But I didn't notice any additional benefits over the former. Perhaps Aveda has become a victim of its own success. I expected this to be exceptional, and it's just OK
