“ Brand: VO5 / Subcategory: Treatment / Type: Hair Mist / Subcategory: Hair Treatment „
I have been getting into the VO5 range recently and this is one of my favourite finds. The VO5 fizz relief elixir miracle mist costs around £4 and can be bought from Boots, Superdrug etc. The miracle mist comes in a 150ml bottle with a pump squirt top which makes it very easy to distribute the product throughout the hair. I usually use this on damp hair as a leave in conditioner, I have found that it makes my hair incredibly smooth and I have a lot less fly-aways then usual. The product can also be used on dry hair to tame frizz, however I rarely do this as I mainly use it after I have washed my hair. The bottle states that the mist contains five natural oils and an extract of satin silk, which is what supposedly gives the product its ability to so effectively moisturise your hair. A big selling point of this product is that is lightweight, which is great as sometimes products which aim to tame frizz do so by weighing your hair down which I really dislike. This spray is very lightweight and isn't really noticable in your hair. I use around five or six squirts of the miracle mist to cover my hair and then I let it sit for a while before brushing it through. The product works as an instant detangler and makes my hair so easy to style. An added bonus is that the product is a heat protectant as well, which means that when I blow dry my hair I don't need to use an additional product. Overall I cannot fault this product and am totally in love with it! If you get a chance I would recommend trying it out!
=== So why did I buy it? === I am forever on the hunt for a product to help tame my wild crazy hair.About a year or so ago now whilst on this quest I came across this 'miracle mist'. Since then I have bought this product again a couple of times. To set the scene I have mid-length to long wavy/frizzy hair. Now when my hair is behaving itself I have lovely natural waves, and fortunately for me, this is how it naturally dries. Not so fortunately it doesn't like to stay like this for very long, with a number of factors such as dampness, hot weather, etc ensuring my waves turn into a frizzy mess. This is not really a good look. === Price and Availability === Full price it this product is £4.39 for a 150ml bottle in Boots. Though the last time I bought a new bottle of this (a couple of weeks ago now) there was a buy 2 get 1 free offer on in Boots on haircare products. This was actually my 'free' product. It is also available in Superdrugs, some supermarkets, stores like Wilkinsons, etc... === Packaging === Quick note about the packaging... This is a spray with a trigger to squeeze in order to spray the product. The shape of the bottle itself is almost triangular (wider at the bottom, narrow at the top), with a pump spray type thing to dispense the product. The bottle is a pealescent white and practically opaque, though if you hold the bottle up to the light you can see how much product you have remaining. The spray is good allowing the product to be sprayed finely onto the hair. However, the bottle has to be upright when spraying - it doest work upside down. === Using the product === On the bottle, this product claims to 'quench your hairs thirst with this lightweight leave-in conditioning spray, infused with a blend of 5 non-greasy vital oils and satin silk extract for gorgeous looking hair'. So, does it do that? It certainly helps! The bottle does state that it can be used on wet or dry hair. I tend to use it on wet hair (a light spray all over is normally adequate), comb it through, and leave my hair to dry naturally. Once my hair is dry it doesn't feel 'icky' or greasy like I have a product on my hair. I would definitely agree with the 'lightweight' description. Even when I've gone a little bit OTT and sprayed on what felt like loads I didn't get any sort of greasiness to my hair. What I do get though when using this product is really soft smooth hair. The 'vital oils and satin silk extract' seem to be doing the trick. When I first started using this, the ends of my hair were awful - it definitely needed a trim to get rid of the horrid extra dry and split ends. Even with my hair in that bad a condition this spray definitely helped. It didn't magically fix it, but with my hair in that state I didn't expect it to. I was however surprised with the improvement. After I had the ends cut, I noticed a significant improvement again in my hair when using this product. The only downside really to this spray is that although it has helped dramatically in the condition of my hair it didn't stop the frizziness that I sometimes have to suffer with. It does help reduce it, but isn't quite the 'miracle' that it claims to be. But then at the price I am pretty pleased with the conditioning results - It works better than some other more expensive brands that I've tried. A combination of this product and a bit of hairspray helps the nice waves last longer, but I am still yet to find a product that will keep my hair frizz free for the length of an entire day. An extra thing worth noting it that this product does have heat protection. I let my hair dry naturally, and very rarely use any heated products on it so I can't comment on whether this heat protect does indeed heat protect. One bottle of this will actually last me quite a while - 2 to 3 months when using it most days - so I would also say it is good value for money. Overall a decent hair product that I would recommend.
