I bought this card a while back after much deliberation - I finally chose this one over the eVGA model of the 8800GT. I am an avid online gamer usually playing online mulitplayer first person shooter type games like Call of Duty 4 and World at War (COD5) etc. I have been a system builder for 10 years and this card blew my socks off from the minute I installed it!
As the Alpha Dog version it comes already overclocked (running at a faster processing speed than normally shipped but still stable), I would usually do this myself but I got it for the same price as the unclocked card so didn't see the sense in taking the risk of over-clocking it myself (which can be catastophic if its not done properly).
This card also has 512Mb DDR3 memory fitted which is very fast indeed. I would recommend that you run this using a Intel Core 2 Duo - I'm using a E6750 @ 2.66GHz and this machine really flies! There are cards out there from many manufacturers with 1Gb+ of memory onboard, don't be fooled that the more memory a card has the better it will be, this is definitely not the case and in some cases you may never use anywhere near that amount of memory so you will be wasting your money.
I've got this plugged into a widescreen 22" monitor and it copes great running every game that I've thrown at it so far at the highest settings within the games. I also regularly watch DVDs and the quality is again perfect. There is an HDTV out connector also if you want to connect your HDTV to your system to get even more stunning detail.
This card is not for a basic PC user, its intended basically for gamers, if you just use your PC for surfing the net, word processing etc it is way over the top for your needs...if you are a gamer however I cannot recommend it highly enough.
A tip I would give you is to make sure that you download and install the latest drivers from the Nvidia website rather than the ones on the disk supplied as this will greatly increase the performance of the card. You can also test your card and benchmark it by downloading and running Futuremarks 3DMark testing software which is free (with some tests disabled or you can buy the full version).
Bang for buck as the americans would say this is the best card on the market when you take quality of build, performance and the extras you get in the box (DVI/VGA connectors, free game - Company of Heroes in my case, a great Realtime Strategy Game).
Hope you found this useful.
