      Great purchase for the price.

Wow. This good looking double DIN stereo has literally transformed my driving experience.

I have had lots of iPod compatible stereo's in the past (about 5 now) but this is by far the best. The interface is very easy to use and there are no pauses or delays when you flick through the different menus.

The iPod interface is fast and you essentially get everything you have on your iPod / iPhone on your screen (playlists etc). The tuner is simple to use and as you would expect. Its 100% reliable and does not crash. The only exception I have found to this is with the iPhone the bluetooth and iPod interface wire often leads to no music being played at the start of the journey. However it starts soon as you take the wire out and put it back in. I believe the new model fixes this and I am aware Kenwood have launched a software update (only PC compatible which is annoying as I use a Mac!).

The Navigational system loads quickly, searches well and quickly. I have had seamless travel from the UK to Belgium / France before and its very clear throughout the journey and the travel instructions (verbal and visually). The one thing I do not like is that the blue around the mapping screen can be quiet bright when driving in the dark and there is no way (I can find) to reduce this (despite the auto dim / night mode on the unit). I also find the navigation not as good as the latest TomTom, but its still very good.

Overall I love this unit. It looks great in my MK4 golf, and often draws compliments from friends and others in my car. If you are put off the price, if you combine a iPod interface stereo and a TomTom you are not too far off the price of this unit so I think its good value. My advice would be try it at a shop, and I can almost guarantee you will have it fitted and in your car an hour later!
