      way off the mark

I had a thing for kouros for a while and it went on every day till I got bored with it. I liked the strong thick aroma it had and I thought it was very manly and confident. Not any more.

The kouros eau de toilette is from yves st laurent a big name in fashion and fragrance. There was a period when it was all over the place and all blokes wore it. It often ended up that a few of us would turn up stinking to high heaven of it.

To buy kouros today it is at least £29.00 for a 50ml bottle and £50 or more for the 100ml one. This lasts for a long time on my skin and a small bottle will last me a very long time. Is that good or bad I don't know as I don't like this very much these days.

I think kouros is a warm, deep aroma with spices and it can be too much for anyone around you if you put too much on in one go. Its better to just use it lightly if you can. It stays on for hours and changes a lot

I don't like this as much as I did as I think I over did it wearing it almost every day and it doesn't have the promise that my recent fragrance buys have. I don't think this would make be look forwards to using it like it used to.

I think that kouros can smell like sour herbs gone wrong after you wear it all day, as the coriander and sage which are covered with bergamot begin to come through too much. It can be very much a stale smell that lets this down.

There is vanilla in kouros and that makes it last for me, often too long if I am honest. Honey is listed as being in kouros but I don't find that any where in it. I don't detect any sweetness or caramel from it at all.

I think that kouros has been left behind for me and I don't like it as much as I did. I think some aromas have their time and this one has arrived and left for me.

I would not recommend it all that much as it is not as bang on the moment as it used to be and there are better fragrances a man can wear. This will make you appear very dated when compared to modern aromas.

Love it or hate it - it's one or the other

Well, when this first came out - when the world was only available in black and white, this was THE perfume to have - at least it was where I came from. It is more likely to have been as a result of what at the time was an unusual shaped opaque white bottle. It's an Yves Saint Lauent brand, dating from the eighties, I think.

It isn't a very classy smell - there's nothing at all subtle about this, but it does make you pong all night and overpowers almost all other smells, save for soiled underwear and stale sweat - 2 smells that we could all do without smelling. I confess I still wear it from time to time - does that make me a bad person - or just a sad person?

To me, it's a very girly and effeminate smell - very distinctive though. If you happen to have a bit of an unpleasant natural whiff, then this would be a good perfume with which to mask the smell. It will overpower most other smells, including bleach and disinfectant. I don't think there's any middle ground with this one - you either like it or loathe it.

You get a good volume of smell for your money, but it has now been overtaken by almost all subsequent perfumes. I suppose when it first came out, it would have been competing with Henry Cooper with his Splash it on all Over ads for the more established brand, Brut (I've still got a bottle of that somewhere too and although my wife hates it, I do still wear it to annoy her sometimes!)

By now you will have guessed that I am over 25. For the most part, perfume is for the younger fraternity. Those of us who are comfortable in our own skin have the confidence to 'go commando' when it comes to perfume. Just stay clean and use a decent neutral deodorant and that's all you need really.

And girls - don't spend loads of money on perfume. Believe me, most men don't really appreciate strong smelling perfumes - we like to smell the real woman, provided you are clean. All these strong pongs interfere with our pheromones!

A lovely smelling aftershave that would suit the more mature gentleman!

MMMM A man smelling of a stunning aftershave, it's dreamy especially when it's a nice smell lol! My dad always smells nice, no I don't fancy him, but I'm proud to call him my Dad when we are out knowing he's trendy for a 41 year old and wears good aftershave. Now he's always smelt good when we go out places but smelling his aftershave earlier today I'm glad he's changed his taste. It is a 'nice' smelling aftershave but seems a bit too old for him now, it's strange as it suited him so well before.

He always wore Kouros, by Yves Saint Laurent. This particular aftershave comes in a black box, decorated in dominant white lines with a shiny silver top and bottom. Kouros Aftershave is written on the front and Yves Saint Laurent clearly written at the bottom. The bottle it comes in is a manly yet at the same time elegant bottle, almost like one of them small liquor bottles you see cowboys with in films, lol do you know what I mean? It's white in colour with silver on the top, clearly marked YSL and Kouros.

A 50ml bottle of this is roughly around £20 and a 100ml bottle around £35, not a bad price for the quality of the product to be honest.

I always find scents difficult to describe but I will try my best. It's a strong, intense and musky an 'old' matured scent in my opinion. Extremely high quality flows through your nostrils, it just oozes class! It's a masculine and powerful fragrance not a scent for the faint hearted that's for sure. It screams out dominance and manly yet it has a subtle freshness about it too. It's definitely an acquired scent it would be one of them you either love or hate. It has a deep spice to it, yet a clear floral blend too.

I do like the scent but it's more for the older man, more experienced in life man, strong, powerful and extremely masculine man which wants to ooze power and strength through his smell!

Smelling it now I am surprised my dad used to wear this as it is way too mature for him at his age! I'd recommend at least smelling this scent, especially if you like strong, in your nostrils, tickle your throat fragrances that last so long and remain as powerful hours later as when first sprayed!

Would make a great gift for someone!

Yves Saint Laurent's Kouros for men I think is a very pleasing fragrance. I bought this for my dad for christmas and he absolutely loved it, it cost £34.00 for a 100ml bottle. I got it from "the perfume shop" but you can get it from almost any cosmetics shop like boots and bodycare etc.

I myself have never used an Yves Saint Laurent fragrance before but I'd heard lots of good things about it. When I thought about buying an aftershave or spray for my dad for christmas I asked a few guys I know what they liked and thought was good and I was suprised when nearly all of them suggested "Kouros". It's a really nice fresh smell I'm sorry but "fresh" is the only way I can describe it, it's not a musky type of fragrance but a purifyng fresh scent.

I myself think it's lovely. He also uses Davidoff's Cool Water for men which is the same type of scent so if you know what that smells like and you like it then "Kouros" is certainly the fragrance for you! Or if you know anyone who likes those fresh smelling scent's then Yves Saint Laurent's Kouros would be nice as a gift.
