Well this is another perfume I have had the pleasure of owning (as you guys have probably guessed by now, I have a bit of a perfume obsession). Anyways, my partner brought me this back from duty free in the 75ml version, after a holiday with the boys a few years ago.
The thing that drew me to this fragrance first is the pretty designing of the packaging and bottle.
The box is triangular in shape, and is a dark pink, with a pale pink cloud like design upon it. The logo is also printed on to the front of the box. The opening is unlike with other perfumes from the side, where a small cardboard flap holds it securely closed. The bottle is nestled snuggly inside the raised cardboard inner of the box.
The bottle itself, is also triangular in shape, and is just plain cear glass, with the name of the perfume printed to the front in white. The lid again is transparent plastic, and in a triangular shape, which easily pops of to reveal the metallic pink metal atomizer spray below.
The fragrance inside the bottle, gives of a kind of pale pinkish glow to the glass, although this isn't overly clear from the picture above.
The scent in my opinion has a fresh, rather floral smelling scent, which I usually don't like in a perfume, but this one really works for me.
The fragrance itself combines the light top notes of Bergamot, Tangerine and Peach with the subtle heart notes Jasmine, Rose and Ylang Ylang. The Woody base notes include Vanilla and Musk.
The scent isn't over-powering and lasts for several hours at the first sniff consistency.
Ted Baker market this perfume as 'light, fresh and easy to wear', and in my opinion this is a very apt description.
This perfume is avaialble in two sizes 40ml and 75ml, and comes in an EDT form, which is less concentrated than the EDP, which mean the scent won't remain as strong for as long.
As this was a gift I am unsure exactly how much my partner paid for this (and bearing in mind this was back in 2005), but after a little research on the internet the 75ml, appears to reatail at around £30, and the 40ml at around £17.
The only fault I can find with this product is that it is not more readily available in the shops. This however may be due to the fact that it was realeases so long ago, and as a result, I only ever repurchased a 40ml bottle once. Hence the four star rating, if had been more readily available, it would have definitely recieved the full five star rating.
I was given Ted Baker W Eau de Toilette as a gift by my auntie two Christmases ago. I have said before that I am easy to buy perfume before as generally, most smells tend to suit my skin. This perfume was part of a gift set that included a body lotion and a shower gel and it was presented in a very nice presentation box.
Ted Baker W Eau de Toilette is a gentle, sophisticated fragrance created for the modern woman. It come sin an architect inspired symmetrical glass triangular bottle.
*About the Product*
Ted Baker W opens with a lush wet fig leaf accord, white peony and African violet. The middle notes are a fruit fusion of pink orchid, cassis and raspberry. Underneath, the base notes are a smooth combination of Cedar and Vanilla.
*Price and Availability*
Ted Baker W can be bought from a variety of different shops including Boots, The Perfume Shop and House of Fraser. You will also find it in Ted Baker stores. Additionally, it is available to buy online from www.boots.com if you prefer to buy perfume via the internet.
You can buy this perfume in 3 different size bottles. The prices for these average at around:
- 30ml bottle: £25
- 50ml bottle: £35
- 90ml bottle: £45
I actually thought that although Ted Baker is a well recognised brand for clothes, the perfume was priced as little too high. I felt it was too expensive as Ted Baker are not renowned for their perfume therefore they were pushing their luck a little with their prices. I guess this means I should be thanking my auntie even more now for spending so much money!
The packaging: The bottle shape is a triangle shaped glass bottle. It is also quite thick. The glass of this bottle is clear however the perfume is pink therefore initially this is the colour that the bottle appears until you start using it. The transparency of this bottle enables you to see the amount of perfume in the bottle all of the time.
The lid of this bottle is a clear with a slight shimmering pink, triangle shaped lid which easily pulls on and off of the bottle. On the whole, the style of this packaging is quite simple, effective yet not outstanding. I wasn't blown away by it; it was just nice.
The smell: Floral and feminine are definitely two key words that I would use to describe this perfume. It is an extremely strong scent which lasts for hours before settling. The combination of the floral and fruity scents in this perfume is strange in my opinion. There is something about the smell that just doesn't quite work for me. It is just too sweet and the violet aroma was too much.
Considering the fact that the fragrance is an Eau de Toliette, weaker than a parfum, I was surprised at its unbelievably powerful smell. It was actually so strong that on many occasions that I wore it, I would end up with a headache just hours after application, not a particularly desirable attribute.
The one other thing that bothers me regarding the smell of this perfume is that it somehow evolved over time and eventually smelt a little bit off. Perhaps this is because I have had the perfume for too long but I have never had this problem with any other perfumes before.
Staying power: As this perfume is very strong its staying power is fairly good (or not good as it is so strong and long lasting that it gives you a headache). When sprayed it lasts strongly for at least 7 or 8 hours without really fading in scent at all but after this the smell fades quite a lot (thankfully).
How many squirts of the perfume are required? Just one or two squirts of this perfume are necessary. If you spray anymore than this, you will smell like you have bathed it in. Two squirts of this perfume will easily last you 7-8 hours before it gets towards the end of the day, and the smell drops off significantly.
Longevity of the product: I have a 30ml bottle of this perfume. I am always alternating the perfumes that I have as I own quite a lot but this one now often gets skipped as I have so many other nice ones that I prefer. I have had this bottle for almost 3 years and I still have half of the bottle left and I very much doubt that I will get to the end of the bottle.
*Would I Recommend This Perfume?*
Ted Baker W Eau de Toilette is a perfume that I would suggest only to those that like strong and powerful fragrances. This one certainly isn't what you are searching for, should you desire a light, refreshing aroma.
This perfume certainly won't be to everyone's taste, it certainly isn't to mine. I don't think that age plays a part in whether or not you will like this perfume, but if you are a fan of floral, fruity smells that are on the stronger side then this perfume may well be for you.
I personally wouldn't recommend this perfume, not just for the reason that I don't particularly like it, but because I believe you can get one that is nicer for the same value.
Overall, I would say that I didn't think too much of this perfume. Ted Baker W, Eau de Toilette is definitely overpriced with an sickly sweet smell that is overly strong and ends up giving you headaches. Would I buy it again? Well I didn't by this in the first place as it was a gift and I am very grateful to my aunt for that but they is absolutely no chance on this earth that I will be spending my own money on Ted Baker W Eau de Toilette.
This isn't a product that would immediately appeal to me, it looks pretty cheap and to be honest it is pretty cheap. When these two things go together there isn't usually a good outcome, however, I think that this product might just be the exception to the rule.
I bought this as I was traveling to Australia on a flight that was going to take longer than a whole day to complete so I needed something to stop me being smelly and feeling rough. 10ml at Boots only costs £3.95 and you can't really say fairer than that so I thought I'd give it a go.
The bottle it comes in is not particularly attractive- a prism with pink liquid inside. It looks pretty cheap but pretty plain at the same time so it isn't all bad. The smell itself isn't anything spectacular, but it does smell clean and feminine so was pretty much perfect for what I needed it for.
I don't think this product is anything special but for a cheap product it definitely does the job. If you're looking for a cheap and cheerful perfume or just want something to put in your handbag or take on a flight then this might just be the product for you!
I'm not generally someone that uses a lot of perfume, however, I was given a Ted Baker gift bag that contained a small sample sized bottle of this perfume, and decided to give it a whirl .
Now, apparently if you buy the full sized version of this, it comes in a lovely pink box. My version however came unboxed, in a clear glass triangular bottle, with a thick clear plastic lid, which covered a smaller gold lid . The bottle itself is pretty free of detail, although it does have some pick lettering on it telling me this is Ted Baker Eau De Toilette, and a big letter W indicating this is for women . They also have a fragrance for men, which naturally comes with the letter M.
Now, I think this is a little lazy - I do think they could have at least named the fragrance, rather than simply lettering it . The perfume itself is pink in colour , which in my opinion, makes it seem a little cheap, and seems as if it is aimed at the younger generation .
My bottle, being a trial sized sample, did not come with any fancy sprayer - I simply had to remove the lid, dab a little on a wrist, and rub my wrists together . Easy enough, and I have to say my first impressions are good - the scent is rather light . It is certainly there, but it is nothing overpowering, and the initial feeling is one of freshness and cleanliness , something that initially gave me a strong fruity berry scent, raspberry mixed with a little bit of blackcurrant - the first smell was definitely fruity.
As with any scent, this first scent faded a little after some time on the skin to give way to a much more subtle yet complex mix. After half an hours wear, I was picking up Cedar, Jasmine, and Vanilla, as well as something really floral I can't quite place my finger on . It went from something very berry scented, to something a lot more multi-layered .
After a few more hours, the scent had faded to just a tiny hint of berry and jasmine on my wrists .
Because of the subtlety of the scent here, I would recommend this for younger people for day to day wear. It wouldn't last a whole evening scentwise, but it does give you a few hours, and while you can smell it on your own skin, I don't think it is strong enough that others would comment on the smell .
I like it - It's fresh, it's fruity, and it's light . It costs 14.99 online for 50ml, which isn't cheap but is certainly not the most expensive perfume I've ever seen either . I don't know if I would personally buy it for myself, I'm not really a huge wearer of perfume, but I certainly would not turn my nose up at receiving this as a gift .
With that said, I find the bottle a little ugly and simplistic, and I'm not sure the perfume really needs to be coloured pink, and for these points I am deducting one star . Still, a respectable four stars for a fruity and fragrant scent , and I'm perfectly happy with my free sample .
My friend gave me this perfume the other week, I'd never tried it before but like many others I'm not one to pass up a freebie.
It looked particularly promising for me coming in a tall, shimmering pink box and I could see the bottle inside. I LOVE anything Pink! A glass triangular bottle with a shimmering pink spray top, protected by a matching triangular plastic lid. On the bottle itself it says Ted Baker London, Eau De Toilette with a pale letter M over the top and a Pink letter W underneath. I found this strange as it was hard to tell what the actual name for the perfume is - apparently it is W - which stands for woman I think and assuming the M stands for Men? Weird. The bottle is a clear glass which allows you to see how much of the fragrance you have used and when you are nearing the end of the bottle so you know when to buy a new one, not that I wanted to buy one at all. I'm glad I didn't pay for this.
Each perfume has notes, these notes are the 'smells' that are put into a perfume. This one has opening notes of fig leaf, white peony and african violet. The middle notes are a fruity fusion of cassis, pink orchids and raspberry. Then we have the base notes a smooth combo of vanilla and cedar. After reading this when researching the perfume I thought it was going to be a dream for me. It sounded fruity, floral and extremely feminine. Just what I wanted.
Or was it?
To be honest I sprayed this at the wrong time, just before I went out shopping for the day. My god it didn't half give me a headache for the 4 hours or so I was out. Every so often I would get this sudden whiff which I just couldn't get rid of, it was as if it was sticking to my nose hairs.
You've guessed it - I really wasn't fussed on this perfume at all and I'm so glad I didn't pay money for it, I don't know whether to continue speaking to my so called friend though for giving me this perfume? What was she trying to say to me lol!!
The perfume for me is intensely concentrated and overpowering. The smell was almighty and almost blew me away when I first sprayed it. I know most perfumes tend to be stronger when you first spray them so I was hoping the scent would die down after a few minutes but to my dismay the fragrance was as strong as ever hours later. It was a very sweet, fruity and floral fragrance - but it had too much of each if you ask me - and then to mix them altogether? Well that was overdoing it, for me it is too much mixed together and put into one! I personally think this fragrance is an acquired taste, maybe I need to acquire some taste - but this really wasn't for me. It is way too floral, I probably would of appreciated burying my head within a bush of fresh flowers more. The sweetness of the vanilla, raspberry, orchids and violets are most definitely evident - but I find them almost sickly sweet. Overall this perfume was just too much for me and I would not waste my money buying it myself.
For people who enjoy smelling like a flower garden, a strong smelling one at that I'd say give it a taster sniff if you spot it in a shop. Even though I really disliked the scent it had some good qualities. For starters it has the clear bottle so you can see how much you are using which tends to be helpful. I always look for a perfume with decent staying power and this one most definitely owns a good one. It dies down, but only slightly so you can smell floral and fruity all day long thanks to the amazing strength of this perfume. If you do like the taster sniff I would say that this perfume is probably more of an evening perfume and a little would definitely go along way. Another redeeming quality of this scent - but not quite redeeming enough for me unfortunately. Of course if you don't use alot then it will last alot longer - therefore worth the money you are paying and no need to keep raiding your purse for pennies you havn't got every month to purchase more. I would say this is probably aimed more at the younger generation, as to me it doesn't posess alot of class, sophistocation or elegance. Instead it provides you with an everlasting blast of freshness - but I don't really like smelling so overwhelming.
I wouldn't reccomend this to anybody who prefers lighter scents, but it is probably definitely worth taking a look at if you like strong, rich and powerful scents.
You can buy this either on it's own or in giftsets - I've seen them online but if you'd prefer to have a smell first Boots also sell it.
