I received this perfume for my birthday a year ago in party of sex and city perfume and body set, I do love sweet perfumes ,but this one is way too strong for me and also doesn't last long. When I first opened the perfume box I love the way it looked since I love the Sex in the city creams and shower gel and the size of the bottle was more than any other perfume I've had so I new it was going to last long wouldn't recommend or buy this perfume for for myself of as present . I'm a bit sceptic about wearing perfumes I haven't seen in shops that sell perfume or seen advertised and wouldn't buy one I didn't know of. This perfume is my worst one but I aim trying to use it since it was from my best friend and even though I don't use it on my body anymore ,I use it for room spray.
I'm a bit of a bargain hunter, so when I saw that my local B&M were selling the 100ml bottles of 'Lust' for just £3.99 each I thought that I might as well buy a few for presents and I ended up buying one for myself, too.
I'm not really a fan of celebrity type perfumes and if I'm honest I only decided to try it because it was so cheap!! I thought I was getting a real bargain but after having a look online the retail price is actually only around £8.00 and a 100ml bottle can be easily found for under a tenner, which I think is because it is quite old - it's been around for a good few years and it is discontinued in some shops but still easily available online. The perfume comes in a chunky glass bottle which is a rectangular/square kind of shape. The glass is dark purple tinted and the product name is written on the front in black writing. The lid is quite an unusual design - it's silver with a metallic kind of feel and it just pulls off to expose the nozzle. The bottle is quite bulky and not particularly attractive, it's quite a young design in my opinion.
It does look like the odd one out amongst my other perfumes as it's so bulky and wide, but this isn't too much of a disadvantage as it does smell quite nice and that's the main thing that matters rather than the packaging. The bottle comes in a cardboard box which has a purple and white colour scheme. I threw this in the bin as it is not very special looking. This is described by the manufacturers as being a 'feminine scent for sexy, vibrant women'. They state that it is a light and refreshing perfume which is ideal for casual day wear. I have no idea which notes are in this, but it's a very fresh and light fragrance which smells more like body spray than perfume to be honest! The smell isn't very strong and in my opinion it does smell quite cheap.
It's hard to detect any actual fragrance in this, instead it's just like a merge of sweetness and floral with a hint of weak citrus. It reminds me a little of the lilac loveheart sweets but it's no where near as nice smelling! I'm only 21 but I think that this is quite a young scent which would be best suited to teenagers. The scent is very light and summery and it's versatile although I wouldn't dream of wearing this if I was going somewhere special as it's so weak and 'average' smelling. Despite what the manufacturers say, this isn't a vibrant or sexy smelling fragrance in my opinion.
The lasting power isn't great - it's hardly detectable even after half an hour. Overall, this is okay. It smells quite nice, but the fragrance is weak and you can tell that it is a cheap perfume. I do recommend it if you want an affordable perfume for casual wear but this isn't anything special. I'm glad that I didn't spend much money on it!
Three out of five stars.
I recently visited the summer fate in our town held for the RNLI which I contribute to regularly. After trying out the cake and candy stall I found myself taking part at the tombola stall spending £8.00 trying to win a big winnie the pooh soft toy for my girls, I didn't win, but I did win a bottle of the sex in the city lust perfume disappointedly.
Sex in the city was a tv programme and one I never watched but the perfume I guess is based on this show and probably aimed at the fans.
Sex in the city lust perfume is cheap to buy and always on special in semi chem for around £9.99 for 100 ml bottle.
The bottle size i have is the 50ml. Sex in the city lust comes packaged in a rectangle shaped cardboard box that is pale lilac and light blue in colour. The light blue on the box is an image of the sky across new york where the tv programme is based.
The bottle of perfume is really pretty, made from glass and oval shaped. It is clear glass with a dark purple shade at the bottom that fades into more shade of lilac as it goes up the bottle. Top of the bottle has a mirror finish with some purple glitzy gem stones in the glass, the top is shaped funny like a cork shape this lifts off and underneath is the spray pump. The bottle makes the perfume look more expensive and classy.
The perfume in my opinion is awful, I have better smelling air fresheners. The fragrance smells sickly fruity, very cheap and light ,so light it needs reapplying as it quickly disappears from the skin. Within half an hour of spraying the perfume on my wrists there wasn't even a hint of the perfume left.
When i spray this i can smell peach and maybe some orange but that's it. Its supposed to contain apple , passion fruit, water lily, amber and jasmine.
The perfume does smell clean and fresh but wont last.
I don't like it at all and find the cheap price is still a rip off. As I said I have nicer longer lasting air fresheners.
I won the booby prize on the tombola. I wouldn't even buy this as a gift for the sex in the city fans its so bad and doubt they would be greatful.
I do not recommend sex in the city lust perfume.
I was very surprised by this perfume. I got it as a present from my granddad and all the perfumes Ive had before from older people smelt like well old people ha! But it smells amazing! Really different from what I have had before. If you like the fruity type perfume smell you'll love this. Not sure about the price but it probably was that expensive so well worth it I think. I usually run out off perfume really quick but I got mine in December and I have still got it now which is great because I have never had perfume this long before (now June), so you do get a lot for your money with this perfume. I like the colour of the bottle too (purple). Despite seeing some of the other reviews I really love this even if some others don't. Would recommend this perfume without a doubt.
I got this perfume as a box set for christmas last year, i found out it was only £10!....Well worth it!! I loved it! And the scent lasts for hours, unlike some other brands. You get quite a big bottle for the price aswell, I would deffinately buy it again if i can find it! Everytime i wore it at least one person would ask what i was wearing as it smelt really nice. The bottle is really pretty aswell i find so it makes a woman want it 10 times more! One of the best perfumes ive had and really want to get it again, i just cant find it now, think everyone else has the same idea, i would deffinately buy this as a gift for someone, although its cheap its does not smell or look cheap, worth every penny! Love it, wish someone would buy me this as a present again! Brill!
I rarely if ever leave the house without perfume of some sort on, I have my favourites which I wear on an evening out, my everyday ones which I wear...well every day and I have my collection of bought them to try because they were cheap.
Sex in the city Lust comes into the bought them to try because they were cheap category. I was in Semi-Chem just before Christmas and saw the 100ml bottle of this for just £4.99 so being a sucker for a bargain I pounced on it.
I wore it for the first time in February and instantly realised why they were selling it so cheap. I used to reckon there was no such thing as a cheap scent, a scent could smell revolting and nasty but not cheap. This particular scent manages to do all three.
The TV show sex in the city is glamorous, sexy and intriguing, the perfume is not! The box looks rather cheap, it is white and it has the New York skyline across it in purple, I would not normally worry about the packaging as long as the scent is good but you really should take the packaging as a warning in this case.
The bottle looks ok I guess, it is square shaped with a metallic top which is embossed in little purple gems, kinda cute looking and wasted on this perfume.
The scent of the perfume is a hard one to describe, there is no real top note or base note just a cheap horrid and quite sickly pong that thankfully doesn't last that long. Normally the fact that the scent has as good as gone in around half an hour would be a terrible thing for a perfume but with this it is a blessing.
If you are thirteen and buying your first real perfume then maybe just maybe you might think this is ok but if you are any older and want a real perfume, one that will smell good and last a night out then you want to stay well away from this one!
P.S I would have given this no stars if possible!!!
I'm confused how a company can get away with effectively using to logo of a well know TV series and changing one word. This alone has obviously fooled numerous people into thinking it is something to do with the TV Series when it's not. It's cheap in price because it is a cheap product. The box design, incredibly cheeky amendment of the logo and plastic bottle should give you a big clue that this is a product that has nothing to do with the other endorsed products but is just trading on the fact that people don't 'read' logos - they recognise them.
I received this in a gift set as a present for my birthday in December. In the gift set, it looks lovely and is presented very well. The bottle itself is not very attractive, but holds a large quantity of the perfume which is good. The scent is different to any perfume that I have had before, and honestly isn't how I expected it to smell. The lid sometimes comes loose on the bottle I have, but that may just be mine. Overall, a good perfume for a gift!
I actually received this perfume for secret santa at work. My first thoughts were that the bottle was not the best looking of perfume bottles. After spraying it and smelling it on my skin i was very dissapointed. I offered it to my mum and sister they both refused it. I took another sniff the other day and thought it was not that bad. I even used it when going to work last week. It was not that strong and not overpowering. I find the lid very plasticky and flimsy and doesn't fit on very well once removed/replaced. The perfume reminds me of something i have smelt before but can't remember what. I would never have bought it if it was not given to me as a gift. It's a matter of personal preference as I am sure that there are people out there who love it very much indeed.
i had this item as a Christmas present ...it looks good ..on u bathroom shelf...the smell isn't very strong and doesn't last long .... but for the price its good..cheap perfume ...ideal young schoolgirl perphume i wouldnt wear it daily or on nights owt
The perfume has a little bit of our favourite fab four built in to it, a lot of though has gone in to this manufacture. Though the scent itself ends like one of Carries columns; full of reflection but lacking substance.
The box: It's a rectangle (so, easy to wrap up for Chrisman is you fancied giving this to one of your girl friends as a stocking filler), it has the New York city skyline. Of course, what else you would you expect to see from something associated with sex and the city!! I like to keep my perfume in the prettier boxes as they look nicer on my dresser; though I did not keep this one as its not very colourful and the cardboard is actually surprisingly flimsy. Also it has shaped cardboard inside, this keeps it in place and in the shop and from breaking on the way home, but its not easy to just slide in to place back in the box it becomes fiddly.
The bottle: The bottle is so pretty, looks like it could be one of Samantha's hats from the movie! It has a really elegant purple tinge, not opaque but translucent and graduated until it pool delicately at the bottom. The shape is simple and classically elegant, like Charlotte. Its not over done or so intricately worked that it feels like it'll break when you spray it! Darker tiny spots of colour decorate the top, I think this gives it a Christmassy feel, almost like ball balls at the top of the tree. The writing is subtle and gives a hint of playful class.
The price: I got mine for £15 in the shops but you can get it from £5.95 on line. Now, I normally pay around £25 for a good perfume, with this price you know the scent will last in to the night so you don't have to carry it around and reapply when you freshen up.
The scent: With Lust I think the fragrance is as short lived as the feeling, and once you have the moment of satisfaction (the initial spray on to your neck and wrists) it begins to disappear. It's a pleasant smell, not what I would describe as sophisticated, but its cheeky and fun. Just like Samantha is quite fruity with a hint of sparkle. Its not a heavy smell so doesn't weigh you down.
When to wear this perfume: For me, this is a day perfume and possible for drinks after work. Its not what I'd wear on a night out for these reasons: the scent doesn't last long enough to keep the fragrance lingering all night, its not "musky" enough to feel like a winters night out and the feel of it is for the sunlight and not minus temps and dark skies!
My scoring: Like Miranda I'll speak the truth, I'd rate this 2 out of 5, although I appreciate the characters of the girls infused in to this idea, the finished result doesn't work for me. The scent is short lived and has no real body to it. For a stocking filler for the girls, its great, to have on your dressing table, its more for decoration and the novelty of the series.
I bought this Perfume for myself about 6 months ago. I thought it sounded like a good idea, and the price was great so I figured if I didn't like it that much then it wouldn't be such a bad thing.
This comes in a 100ml bottle and I got it for the bargain price of £4.95, yes you see that right it was £4.95. Why so cheap? Well I could say it was because of how this smelt, but I hadn't smelt it by then so I couldn't have commented! The recommended retail price for this was around £34 which sounds about right for a 100ml Perfume. I didn't even have to pay postage for the Perfume either, as I bought a couple of things from the website and postage was free.
The box looks alright for this. It is a white box and the New York skyline is in Pink. It looks very Sex and the City. The bottle is like the Dooyoo picture. Not the most exciting bottle i've seen but it looks alright. It doesn't look that cheap I think, but it looks quite simple and girly.
So how does this smell? It's just not that nice and not the kind of scent I would go for. It is just full of floral scents and smells really powdery. At first when I sprayed this I thought it smelt quite nice as it seemed to have a fresh and slight Violet tinge to it, but all that didn't last long. It seems to smell like Gardenia, Carnations, and sort of like the Flowers that you get in the little bunches for a couple of pounds - you know the ones that aren't usually budded when you buy them? The whole thing is just a Floral mess and it's hard to identify any individual flower in here.
The good thing I would say about this which is usually a bad thing in other Perfumes, but this doesn't last any lenght of time after spraying it. You can smell it for about an hour and it gets fainter and fainter within that hour, and then I couldn't smell anything. I didn't reapply, and actually just ended up throwing this perufme out.
Not for me, and I can't think of anyone I could have gave this scent to that would have liked it.
There are loads of cash-in fragrances out there, with Big Brother contestants, pop stars and z listers alike all releasing scents. I've had a smell of most of them and some are surprisingly nice, Katie Price, this means you (not that I'd buy it, snob I am, haha).
Which brings us on to Sex in the City's Lust scent. For such a large brand, I was surprised to see it at £4.99 for 100ml, this is 'bargain basement' in terms of scent. Surely a brand which prides itself on fashion, style and substance wouldn't associate itself with a cheap scent? Especially as Sarah Jessica Parker has released a few high-end scents herself.
Anyway, onto the product. It's in a violet and clear glass bottle, which, truth be told, is a bit tacky. It's easy to open, though, and the spray douses you in a liberal, er, coating of scent.
Well, I say scent. I say scent in the same way driving past a field which has been recently manured is a scent, or the gentle yet sweet tang of month-old brie. You see, Sex in the City's Lust is an assault on the nasal cavity. It attacks the sense of smell with a floral machete, in a way that only a cheap, cheap perfume can. That said, I've sprayed room cleaners which smell more pleasing than this 'eau de parfum'.
The one good thing about the scent is that due to the lack of any decent ingredients it has absolutely zero staying power, and a mere ten minutes after spraying it on yourself, or any fabric, it has gone, with nary a mark where it was sprayed.
I can only suggest, if you were wondering whether or not to spend a spare fiver on Sex in the City - Lust, is to save your cash, spend it on a copy of Cosmo, there should be a few decent perfume samples in there you can rub on and which will last all day :)
When I was out shopping for bargains in the New Year, I was quite excited to come across a perfume which was based on and endorsed by the TV series Sexy And The City. The one I came across was called Lust but apparently there are another two in the collection. I thought the perfme would be a good buy and hoped that it would smell good considering it was a representation of what Sex In The City stands for. Plus it was only £4.99 for 100ml (I know, what was I expecting?!) so it was quite a bargain for a perfume.
The perfume is a 100ml and as far as I know only comes in this size.
It comes in a non typical perfume box. The box is white and it has the New York skyline across it in purple - which matches the colour of the perfume. In the top left hand corner it says that it is "Sex In The City" and it is the Lust version of the perfume.
Upon opening the perfume you are greeted with a nice bottle. It reminds me of a little handbag for some reason. It is almost square shaped as you go further up the bottle the glass ends and you are met with a metallic silver material which has little purple gems stuck on it. The metallic silver then goes further up to the lid which lifts off easily and has two purple handles coming out of either side. The body of the bottle is made of glass and is coloured purple. On the front of the body of the bottle is the name of the perfume and the branding in the show's font. It is a pretty bottle but it looks a little bit on the cheap side to me personally.
The perfume has a very floral scent to it but I have looked on the bottle, I have looked on the box and I have looked online to try and find which scent notes it uses and I have not been able to find any! I find this slightly bothersome and it makes me realise that this is quite a cheap perfume which has only been brought out to make some money off of the back of the series rather than actually be a decent perfume. The scent is sweet and floral and it is pretty sickly. I was disappointed as even after the first spray this perfume was actually making me feel a bit sicky!
Luckily, I didn't have to endure the sicky feeling long - this perfume has zero staying power! It lasted....drum roll please....a grand total of 25 mintes on my skin before it faded away completely, never to be sniffed again! An absolute waste of time.
I can see exactly why this perfume was so cheap. It is like a watered down perfume which doesn't have any definitive scent notes. It doesn't last and it is just cheap and tacky. A huge disappointment.
I received this perfume as part of a gift set which also contained a body lotion and shower gel, I wasn't delighted as I'm not a fan of Sex and the City but the bottle was pretty enough so I thought it would end up being one of those run of the mill perfumes that I could reach for now and again.
The truth is, it's not even that. I absolutely hate the smell of this Lust perfume and can see why it costs a measly fiver for a large 100ml Eau de Parfum! I've just had to spray myself so I could write this review and I'm now sitting surrounded by a fog of sickly sweet florals, but that doesn't matter as it has zero staying power so I won't be able to smell it within a few minutes.
Lust is an extremely floral perfume. There y'are, review done. What do you mean I can't leave it at that, the perfume is basically floral and that is really all there is to say about it. It's ridiculous, I can't tell you the different notes or even have a guess at what fragrances have been combined to create this perfume and nothing stands out. It actually reminds me of one of the Zoflora disinfectants I used to use years ago as I can sense there is a bouquet of fragrances in the perfume but none strong enough to push it's way to the front and shout "look at me, I'm rose (or jasmine, or hyacinth)". It's just a mash up of flowery aromas, which is great for disinfectant but not so good for perfume.
It's irrelevant anyway as after half an hour the fragrance disappears and you're left with, well, nothing at all. Even using it together with the body lotion and shower gel doesn't make the perfume any longer lasting, thank god actually as if I had to smell like Zoflora for one more minute I think I would have gone mad. Oh, oh, oh, I'm a Billy Bullshi**er! I just got a whiff of another layer of fragrance! As the perfume is dying (which doesn't take long, thank god) I can smell rotten oranges! Yep, rotten ones. Lovely.
There's not a lot else I can say about this horrible perfume. In a way it reminds me of the old Charlie body sprays that I'd use as a teenager, back in the day when I didn't care what I smelled of as long as I was using a grown up spray. I usually like sweet perfumes, and this one is very sweet to begin with but the overwhelming yuck of the floral smell made even the slight sugary smell unbearable.
£4.99 from Perfume Plus.
