Light, summery scent, average longevity but expensive.

My Mum bought me this perfume after I had asked her for it after being intrigued by it’s fun design from when I first saw it on the shelves. I had smelt samples and enjoyed the scent, so when asked which perfume I would like, I opted for this as a change to my usual ones as I tend to get the same ones over and over like most people. I thought this would be a nice change to my usual scents.

      A little about the designer
Marc Jacobs is an American fashion designer. He is the head designer of Marc Jacobs and Marc by Marc Jacobs. He launched his first collection with the Marc Jacobs label in 1986, which earned him the Perry Ellis award for New Fashion Talent, the youngest person to ever win the award at aged 23. He then joined Perry Ellis as vice-president and then president, where he won Women’s Designer of The Year. He continued with his own line and in 1993 became creative director of Louis Vuitton. During this time he created Marc by Marc Jacobs, a ‘high street’ version of his Marc Jacobs label, which now has just under 300 stores worldwide. He left Louis Vuitton in the beginning of 2014 to focus on his own line. He is currently the creative director of Diet Coke. He has won many awards in his career recognising his design ability in womenswear and accessories, only winning an award for menswear once, and most recently winning a lifetime achievement award. He is known for being ‘a little preppy, a little grunge and a little couture.’

      The perfumes
Marc Jacobs launched his fragrance line in 2001 with his first major fragrance hitting the shelves in 2006, which included Blush, I Love Marc and Daisy, which is what this review is about. It was released as being ‘happy and youthful’ and was intended to be aimed at the younger consumer. The target age range for the fragrance is 18-24, as most Marc Jacobs customers were above this age range, the fragrance was a way to bring the younger generation into the Marc Jacobs fold. This clearly worked for me. I had never heard of Marc Jacobs before 2006/2007 when I first saw Daisy on adverts and remember spotting it in the window of the pharmacy down the road. It caught my eye straight away, so the intention of the range definitely worked with me!

      The box/bottle
The box which the bottle comes in doesn’t catch your eye or stand out against other fragrances., although it is very nice. It is black with a border lined with small daisies. It says Daisy, Marc Jacobs in gold, in the signature Marc Jacobs font, and all other writing including ingredients, size of the bottle and other information printed in small gold lettering on the back of the box.

As I say the bottle caught my eye, more so because of the very large daisies that featured on top of it! The bottle is a rounded square, clear glass bottle with a cold spray cap. The name again features in the signature font of the brand ion black on the front of the bottle. The liquid inside the bottle is of a gold colour, which matches the whole design of the bottle and name of the fragrance as it is a summery colour.
The lid features 2 large daisies, one a bit bigger than the other. They are plastic, very tough, which is needed as being on the lid it is pulled and pushed every time you use the fragrance, so it is needed to be tough. This is the best feature of the bottle, and all in all makes the bottle a very cute, fun and youthful design, which I like.

      The fragrance
Top notes - Strawberry, Violet Leaves and Red Grapefruit.

On first applying the fragrance, it is quite strong. I cannot smell strawberry within the first few minutes of application, as the grapefruit scent hits and then it’s definitely the violet leaves which are smelt until the heart notes kick in. Quite fruity on application.
Heart/middle notes - Violet Petals, Gardenia and Jasmine

The heart notes are of course floral which fits with the name and aim of the fragrance. The advert states that it is floral with the vintage edge of violet. To me the violet definitely calms down the floral scent and gives it a sophisticated scent. It is fresh, sophisticated and a very light fragrance once the top notes have eased off. Some floral fragrances can smell old and overpowering but i think the scent is just right with this, and they are very nice and light and not overpowering as some floral fragrances can be.
Base notes - Musk, Vanilla and White Woods

Once the heart notes settle and the base notes can be smelt, there is definitely a hint of vanilla and musk. A very nice, calm scent which smells ‘warm’. The vanilla is not overpowering and is just right in my opinion, whereas the musk keeps that sophisticated feel and woods along with the vanilla give it that ‘warm’ smell.
      Longevity

The longevity of the fragrance is not that long. I do find that I have to re-apply the perfume half-way through the day if I happen to have it in my bag. I have a 100ml bottle which is quite large for a regular handbag, especially with the daisies on the lid so you would have to buy a smaller bottle or the handbag version if you would like to carry it around with you, which of course not everyone would do.
      Overall

As with all Marc Jacobs’ fragrances, the designs are some of the best I have seen, in my opinion. To target the younger generation, the designs truly work, as they did with me because they are youthful, fun, happy and very modern designs. All of them are eye-catching. Daisy has a plain bottle, unlike subsequent releases, but it is the very large daisies on the lid that make it stand out. Compared to recent fragrances the design is quite plain in comparison, but on it’s release and even now to some people it was very eye-catching. Being the first major release in his fragrance range, I think the design is pretty good, and has gotten better with each one afterwards.
The overall smell of the fragrance fits in well with the concept. It is definitely a scent of a summery meadow when you add the floral heart notes and the warm base notes together, which again is a great scent for the name and design of the fragrance. I think the scent is very much youthful, fun and happy as it states, plus a little bit sophisticated but not too much that is a sexy smell, this scent is definitely an ideal scent for teens through the summer months.

I am 25 and I do enjoy the fragrance for a daytime, casual day rather than a night out or for work. I think it is a ‘carefree’ scent that would fit perfectly with teens and people my age.
As I explained earlier, the fragrance doesn’t last very long at all and to carry a larger bottle in your bag is hard work, as even the smaller bottles have the large daisies on them. I do have large bags in the day and mine fits in fine but if you prefer a smaller bag inn the daytime, then you wouldn’t be able to carry the perfume with you and re-apply when needed.

50ml in Boots is £47.50 and 100ml is £63.50. The Perfume Shop has 50ml for £38 on sale at the moment (May 2014) or £48 usual price and 100ml £63. The price tends to be the same over the internet. I think it is very expensive compared to similar scents of big designers such as CK and DKNY which have a much longer staying power.
You can also buy the gift sets with body lotion and body wash, and there is now a few ‘spin-off versions of Daisy, which are Daisy Black, Daisy So Fresh, Daisy Hot Pink and Daisy Delight.

Overall a very light, summery, young scent with a sophisticated edge, average longevity but expensive. I would recommend the fragrance, but only if it was on sale, as I do think it is expensive at full price.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette

The Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette is available from GBP 29.00.

The Eau de Toilette comes in a round flacon with a cap. At the cap is a daisy fixed. The product name is on the flacon. It includes 20 ml.

The Eau de Toilette is described as follows. "Radiant and enchanting, Daisy is a sparkling floral bouquet - spirited and fresh, wrapped in comfort and warmth. At the heart of Daisy is a floral with vintage edge: Violet. Sophisticated with a touch of whimsy, Violet captures the eclectic, vintage flavour of Marc Jacobs' feminine, edgy designs. The bottle design features a luxurious block of weighted, clear glass topped with a playful scattering of daisies that appear to bloom from the rounded gold cap."

The Eau de Toilette is fresh and intensive with a flowery scent. A fresh scent of violet leafs and a light scent of strawberries can be noticed. The flowery scent of gardenia, violet and jasmine is noticeable. Followed by a light vanilla scent. The fruity notes can be especially noticed, nevertheless the scent can be described as flowery and powdery. The scent is not too intensive and the intensity is soft.

The top note consists of strawberry notes, intensive green aroma of violet leaf and pink grapefruit. Followed by the middle notes gardenia, delicate violet, and jasmine petals. The base notes are white woods, vanilla and musk.

The Eau de Toilette is not long-lasting and can be noticed for about 4 hours.

I can recommend the Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette, as it is a not too intensive and gentle scent. The intensity is soft and the scent is not long-lasting.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A great summer perfume

I have a number of different perfumes (as you can tell from my various reviews) and tend to wear them at different times of year. Marc Jacobs Daisy is my favorite perfume to wear everyday for work during the summer and I love it so much I am now on my second bottle.

I was probably first attracted to try the perfume due to the gorgeous bottle. It is a clear, rounded rectangular shape with Marc Jacobs and Daisy written on the front in gold lettering. As the glass is clear you can see the perfume inside which is a light summery gold colour. The top of the perfume bottle is totally unique and shaped with white flower daisies of different sizes round a gold middle which makes it look just like a large daisy flower sitting on top of the bottle. To remove the lid you pull the whole of the flower top off to reveal the spray nozzle underneath. You can also twist the top round to create different looks depending on which of the sized flowers you want to view.

      The perfume is described as "fresh and feminine, with a playful innocence" and contains fruit and floral scents such as violet and strawberry. The full ingredients are;

Top notes of strawberry, violet leaf and pink grapefruit.

Middle notes of gardenia, violet and jasmine petals.

Base notes of white woods, vanilla and musk.

On spraying the perfume the first impression is that it is very fresh and light and it really does remind you of daisies in a field, on a summer's day. It is not too sweet or overpowering and feels delicate and great on my skin as a daytime perfume.

The staying power of the perfume is reasonable and I find that it lasts for several hours, although as it is quite a light perfume it does not stay as a really strong scent for the whole day. It helps me to feel fresh and feminine and has a happy feel to it which is great. I find that a 50ml bottle lasts me a year using it most days during the summer and occasionally at other times.

The perfume can be bought from most stores such as Boots, Debenhams and House of Fraser in both 50ml bottles for £45 and 100ml bottle for £56. However the range always produces gift sets at Christmas time which also include a body lotion and are normally on sale after Christmas at half price. They are great value for money if you can get your hands on one and I tend to buy them then so I can stock up for the year ahead.

I would really recommend this perfume if you are looking for something that is light, fresh and floral while not being too overpowering or heavy. It will also look great on your dressing table!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Nice fragrance but a little light

I really like the fragrances by Marc Jacobs, so in January, when I spotted a gift set in Boots half price, I decided to spend some of my Christmas money and treat myself.

The fragrance is widely available from places such as Debenhams, Boots and John Lewis, and is available in 50, 75 and 100ml, where the prices range from £45 - £56. Because this is an established fragrance, there are also body lotions, creams and shower gels available in the same range. Also, there are quite often different versions available, for example, Marc Jacobs recently released Daisy Sunshine which is a summer edition.

What first attracted me to the Marc Jacobs range is the design of the bottle and Daisy is no different; the bottle is slightly rectangular in shape, with a gold spray which is topped nicely with a lid which has three big daisies attached. The fragrance is a gold colour too. I feel the whole design looks rather classy and elegant, whilst having quite a 'grown up' feel to it.

Although I only purchased this year, the fragrance was first launched in 2007 and according to basenotes.com, it is made up as follows:

Top notes - Strawberry, Voilet, Ruby Red Grapefruit
Middle notes - Gardenia, Violet Petals, Jasmine
Base notes - Musk, White Woods, Vanilla.

Unlike most fragrances, I actually know what most of the notes actually are and I find that I can detect most elements when I am wearing it. Upon first spray, the fragrance really does remind me of summer; fresh cut flowers mixed with juicy red strawberries which balance each other out nicely to give quite a mature scent. After a short period of time, the grapefruit starts to come out, but again, I don't end up smelling like a fruit bowl as the notes balance out perfectly. After a few hours, the warm vanilla also starts to come through too. Daisy has great staying power, although because it is an EDT, I do find that it isn't very strong so when I am wearing on a night out, I like to apply on top of the body lotion from the same range.

Overall, I would recommend this fragrance, but because for me it is a little on the light side, I would only give it 4 out of 5 stars.

      Thanks for reading.

        ==PRICE==

I bought this perfume from my local Boots store for around £45, and this was just the 50ml sized one. The 100ml sells for around £55. I went for the 50ml version mainly due to the hefty price tag, and I find that the 50ml is more than enough for me and can last me a while. I usually don't go for really pricey perfumes, but due to a recommendation of this from a friend and loving the smell of it on others; I could not resist buying it. Due to the price, I however would not purchase this very often, but more on special occasions or a treat.

        ==DESIGN==

I personally love the design of the perfume; it looks sophisticated and elegant and greatly reflects the type of fragrance the perfume holds. The perfume bottle is made from clear transparent glass that is designed in a rectangular shape. The top of the perfume has a nice elegantly gold coloured lid that can easily be removed by basically pulling it off, the lid is covered with very pretty plastic shaped daisies, with white coloured petals and a gold inner cuticle.

The daisies are placed is a slanted position so that the gold lid can be easily seen, almost peaking out from the beautiful flowers. The design makes the perfume look very welcoming and enduring and it definitely played a big part on influencing me to buy it.

        ==THE FRAGRANCE==

        Top notes: Strawberry, Violet leaves

Mid notes: Violet petals, Jasmine bouquet

        Base notes: Musk, Vanilla Infusion

It was love a first sniff with this perfume! The fragrance is not too overpowering, which in my opinion is a great thing as I am not keen on overpowering strong scents as they can give me bad headaches. The scent is pleasantly light and yet very refreshing, the floral elements are very potent and mix really well with the vanilla and musk elements. The scent spells out feminine with a capital F, and the floral aspects makes the scent very fresh and summery. I personally couldn't smell the strawberry, however the mixture of the notes seem to really work well together; emitting a beautiful enduring fragrance.

One of the great aspects of this perfume is the long lasting scent that seemed stay for days. The perfume fragrance was still quite potent even after a day or two I could still smell it on the clothes I originally wore when I used the perfume. Even after hours and hours I could still easily smell the scent on my skin, and to me that is a sign of great quality perfume. The scent did not go all musky like other perfumes tend to do after a few hours, instead the scent remained pleasant and the floral notes were still noticeable.

        ==CONCLUSION==

Overall I would definitely recommend this fragrance to all women, as it has a pleasant scent that is light and fresh that lasts for ages. The only downside would be the price, it is quite expensive compared to others, and because of this I would only purchase this only at special occasions (birthday treat/Christmas etc).

          Disadvantages

Glad I was 'taken in' by the packagaing as the scent is lovely

I have probably the cutest looking bottle of perfume ever - it's my Marc Jacobs Daisy EDT. I have to admit to the fact that it was actually the packaging of this perfume that caught my eye initially. It's such a cute looking bottle which has gorgeous large white daisy's all stuck to the top. It looks fun and frivolous and it really brightens up my dressing table. I have used almost a third of my bottle now and I really love to wear it as an every day sort of perfume.

Personally speaking, I find Daisy a lively fresh and floral perfume but it's not too flowery or sickly sweet as some floral fragrances can sometimes be. It's a warm kind of floral fragrance with definite undertones of vanilla, musk and woody tones, which add depth to the light floral overtones. The top notes are also slightly fruity and I can detect red grapefruit, strawberry and violet. It's the perfect day time summer scent and it makes me feel alive and happy whenever I wear it. This is probably one of those fragrances I wear for work that people comment on the most - all of them positive, I have to say.

I have the smaller 50ml sized bottle and this cost me just under £42 as it was on special promotion at the time. It lasts for ages though and it doesn't need to be reapplied very often at all. I personally find that if I give myself a couple of sprays of this at about 8.30, it's still going strong by mid afternoon.

It's a delicate floral and yet sophisticated perfume which would probably be more suitable to younger generations but it could also be enjoyed by just about any age. I think the design of the bottle is really outstanding and really draws you in even before you've sniffed at it.

One of my absolute favourites and I really recommend this perfume for its gorgeous fragrance and impressive staying power.

            Advantages

            A lovely spring/summer scent!

I got a 100ml bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy as part of a Marc Jacobs Daisy gift set, along with a miniature of the fragrance and a body lotion.

The fragrance is an eau de toilette. It does come as an eau de parfum as well, but that comes in a black bottle with gold flowers on the lid, which I don't like as much as the eau de toilette bottle.

            ~ Bottle ~
The bottle is made from clear glass. It has rounded edges. The front and back of the bottle have concave glass, curving inwards and the sides of the bottle have convex glass, curving outwards.
The front of the bottle has 'Daisy Marc Jacobs' written in black lettering.
The lid of the bottle is a gold spherical shape with three white rubbery bendable daisies attached. The three daisies are three different sizes and point in different directions. Each daisy has a gold coloured round stud in the middle.
The perfume itself is a light yellowy orange colour.
I love Marc Jacobs' fragrance bottles. They are really fun and I find them really appealing.

            ~ Price and availability ~
The eau de toilette is available in 50ml and 100ml bottles.
The 50ml bottle is available at www.theperfumeshop.com for £44.50 (RRP £45.00).
The 100ml bottle is available at www.theperfumeshop.com for £55.50 (RRP £56.00).
They are also available from Boots, Debenhams and House Of Fraser at the recommended retail prices.

            ~ Scent ~
The fragrance is really distinctive and although it does smell similar to other fragrances in the Marc Jacobs Daisy range, it is different from any other fragrances I have used in the past.
It is very light and fresh.
The top notes are strawberry, violet leaf and pink grapefruit.
The heart notes are gardenia, violet and jasmine petals.
The base notes are white woods, vanilla and musk.
It is a really fresh fruity-floral scent. It is very crisp and defined.
The fruity notes are rich and luscious and the floral notes in the heart are gentle and delicate, not sharp or overpowering at all. The base is also very light and subtle.
It is a lovely fresh, uplifting scent. It is perfect for spring and summer wear.
Although you may expect from a fragrance called Daisy, that it would be very floral, I would describe it as a fruity-floral fragrance and the fruitiness brings a slight sweetness to the scent.
I think the scent is definitely a day time scent as it is so light and fresh and I think it would be perfect for those rare days we have in the warm British sunshine.
I think the scent would appeal to women of all ages, but I think it is aimed more towards younger women.
I have found that the perfume lasts for around 4-5 hours on my skin, which is ok, but not great. I am considering buying the eau de parfum as I have quite a collection of these bottles now and I would love this to have better staying power.

            ~ Conclusion ~
This is a lovely fragrance. It is light, fresh and very spring/summery, just like the bottle.
I love the bottle design. It is young and fun and I think it really stands out, adding interest to my dressing table.
Although I haven't been too impressed with the longevity of this perfume I am glad that I have this version as it is the nicer Marc Jacobs Daisy bottle - the eau de parfum comes in a black bottle with gold daisies, which I don't think represents the scent and I have so many other Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrances (Daisy Sunshine, Daisy Eau So Fresh Sunshine, Daisy Pop Art edition, Daisy Hot Pink edition) that I think it would be wrong not to have this one amongst my collection.
I am considering purchasing the eau de parfum version of this fragrance because of the longevity of this eau de toilette.
I really like this fragrance, but I don't think I would really recommend it because of the 4-5 hour lasting power, which is not reflected in the price. I had expected it to last longer than this. Other eau de toilettes I have used have had much better staying power than this.
I will still give this 4 stars as it is a lovely scent while it lasts!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

A nice perfume but not for this price.

I was given a set of Marc Jacobs perfumes for Christmas and thought I would share my views on each of the scents.

This perfume comes in a beautiful glass bottle which is rectangular in shape but tapers towards the top of the bottle into the lid. The lid is a gold coloured ball with plastic daisies attached to the top which each have a gold plastic centre. The bottle design is quite unusual because of these oversized flowers and this definitely makes it stand out. The perfume inside is a lovely goldy/peachy colour which perfectly complements the gold colouring on the lid. Though I do think this is a pretty bottle I find the daisies a little crude. They are almost cartoon like and for someone who like a delicate, elegant feminine fragrance they just seem a little junior to me.

The bottle does work exactly as you would hope, the dispenser spritzes an even amount of perfume which disperses in the area to create a large area of contact with your skin. I find the perfume settles evenly and though a little sharp at first begins to mellow into a delightfully floral fragrance.

This scent smells very young, fresh and light to begin with which makes it the perfect perfume for a warm summer day or holiday. The first notes you get are strawberry, violet and red grapefruit. I find these combine beautifully to make a very light, fruity, floral scent which feels really bright and summery. I do find this layer a little sweet for my personal liking which again smacks at being a little cheap or young. The perfume does mellow though and deepens into a delicious smell.

The heart notes in this scent are jasmine, violet and gardenia which turn this perfume into a much cleaner and voluptuous smell. I find this aspect of the perfume to most suited to my personal tastes. I love these heady floral scents that open up like ripened fruit. This layer is sweet but not sickly and has a real feminine elegance which is absolutely beautiful. These smells do become a little powdery, as florals can, but personally I like this. My only issue is that it does seem somewhat at odds with the design and the initial smell which makes me wonder who the target audience is.

The final notes are vanilla, musk and white wood. I love it when a floral scent deepens into much more earthy woody smells because it feels like entering a deep dark forest festooned with flowers. I love how this perfume opens out and becomes a far more sexy and sensual smell that it begins with. It feels like the unravelling of a summer garden party into a night of debauchery.

In terms of longevity I find this perfume ideally needs reapplying ever 3-4 hours. This isn't too bad for a standard perfume but probably not quite as good as you could get from other brands for a similar price. That's the real catch with this perfume actually, the price. For a 50ml bottle this perfume will set you back around £45 which to me feels very expensive for what is an average perfume. I've certainly had better for less and for that reason I can't really justify the price. That said, I have enjoyed using it and would like to receive it as a gift again.

Overall, this is a mixed perfume which has some beautiful notes but can feel a little too young.

                Disadvantages

Fresh as a daisy, great perfume!

I'd never been much into perfume but after smelling this on a few occasions in Boots or Debenhams I really liked it and would always borrow my friends on a night out. I saw an advert for it in nearly every magazine and knew it to be very popular which used to put me off but it smelt so good I couldn't resist!

The bottle design is really cute, it is a clear, rounded rectangular shape. Marc Jacobs and Daisy are written on the front in gold and you can see the yellow (a summery, warm yellow) coloured perfume inside. The lid is round and gold with three daisys stuck around it of varying size. The middle of the daisys are gold too. The flowers don't get in the way of removing the lid at all which you would expect them to. Before seeing the bottle in person, I thought the flower decorations on top of the lid were hard but when I actually held the bottle it turns out the daisys are rubbery plastic so there's no worry of them breaking off. I love how this bottle looks in my room and often half the reason I now choose perfumes is because of how they look (you are paying half the price for this itself so why not be a bit fussy!).

There are few different colour variations of the bottles including black and gold, gold and black, silver and white and even red and black. I think these colours are aimed for older women as the standard bottle is very young (but still sophisticated and elegant) and is aimed at a younger market. I think some of them are limited edition too, as Daisy is now I famous Marc Jacobs perfume that is a recognisable and famous bottle and scent. There is a new 'eau so fresh' version which is a lighter version and the bottle is pink with gold and white flowers on top.

So this brings me onto the smell itself! The description online is:
Enter the world of Daisy: fresh and feminine, with a playful innocence. At the heart of Daisy is a floral with vintage edge: violet. Sophisticated, with a touch of whimsy, violet captures the eclectic, vintage flavor of Marc Jacobs' feminine, edgy designs. Always elegant, always enchanting - but not too serious - Daisy is a sparkling floral bouquet, spirited and fresh, wrapped in comfort and warmth.
Notes: Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Gardenia, Violet Petals, Jasmine Petals, Musk, Vanilla, White Woods.

I think this is very accurate description of the perfume as it is very fresh and enchanting but like they say not to serious. The smell is definitely floral but not sickeningly sweet or overpowering like floral smell sometimes can be, the smell is light and fresh and perfect for wearing in summer. I think it is so appealing because it uses vanilla and musk which the majority of people seem to like and are in most of the perfumes I've smelt. The smell seems to last a very long time through the day too, I spray a little around my neck and a spray for my wrists and the smell is with me all day. I do find it can be a bit too much if I accidently spray too much but it will die down after a little while. It is more of a daytime smell rather than one you would going out at night but I still do as I love it so much. It's not really a 'sexy' smell but makes me feel girly and fresh instead but doesn't make me feel immature either.

Mum bought me my bottle for about £40-£50 from The Perfume Shop for Christmas which I think is a very fair price (I only ever get perfumes at Christmas which also justifies the price as it makes them more special). You are paying for a beautiful bottle, a well known great brand that is Marc Jacobs who appeals to high street and high end shoppers, and a smell that is lovely and lasts a long time. I have had my perfume for 7months now and am only just about half way through the perfume so it will definitely last a long time.

Obviously everyone smells smells different so make sure you smell before buying but I would definitely recommend as it lasts forever and the bottle looks good on display it is definitely worth the money and it smells amazing!

A gorgeous fragrance from Marc Jacobs

I enjoy being given the opportunity to try out new products and where I would previously select a new perfume based solely on a quick sniff of a tester bottle, I now take my time when making my decision where I will allow each of the notes to fully develop on my skin. A couple of months ago my mother visited my home whilst wearing the most stunning scent, which I discovered to by Daisy Eau de toilette by Mark Jacobs. As perfumes can offer a different scent on one person to the next, which is dependent upon a number of factors such as the skin's oil content and the level of acidity, my mother offered to lend me her bottle for a couple of weeks. As my love for this eau de toilette grew and grew I purchased my own bottle with this review discussing my experience with using it.

The 50 ml clear glass bottle is extremely appealing to the eye with its large and fresh contemporary looking white petal daisies with golden coloured centres, which are firmly attached to the golden coloured lift off lid. However, despite its irresistible charm I never store any of my fragrances in direct heat or sunlight, as over a period of time the perfume will spoil, so my bottles are always stored in a dark drawer. The fragrance is released in a fine mist and I apply to my pulse points such as the insides of my wrists and behind my ears and knees. As these areas contain blood vessels that are closer to the skin, the heat from the body causes the aroma to become more evident and subsequently, prolong the fragrance.

The opening accords deliver a delightful and refreshing aroma of strawberry and violet leaves, which create an uplifting summery scent and are soon accompanied by the luxurious heart notes of violet petals and jasmine. This is when the eau de toilette really begins to come alive as far as I am concerned, as all of these notes work in perfect harmony to deliver the most beautiful feminine scent. Contained within the base notes, which remain with us the longest is one of my favourite perfume aromas, namely musk, as I find it sensual and it appears in the majority of fragrances that I wear.

The musk is accompanied by vanilla, which is not an aroma that generally appeals to me as I find it rather cloying. However, its presence is minimal and it provides a perfect blend, particularly when cedarwood becomes noticeable, as it offers a slight woodiness to the overall fragrance. As this is an eau de toilette it contains approximately 1 - 6% perfume concentrates, so its staying power is considerably less than an eau de parfum and I find that after a couple of hours I need to reapply.

The smallest bottle of eau de toilette is 50 ml, which generally retails at around £45, which I feel is a little high for an eau de toilette that offers limited staying power. However, for £5 more you can purchase the eau de parfum in the same size bottle although I cannot comment on its longevity having never used it before. I can recommend Daisy for its beautiful scent, but it loses a star from me due to the price and its limited staying power, so I will probably opt for the eau de parfum for my next purchase.

I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.

                  Disadvantages

If you can afford it, definitely worth the splurdge

I've always been a fan of experimenting with fragrances - I often wonder into different shops just to smell the newly launched fragrances, however there aren't that many that make me really want to make the splurge and buy them because lets face it, perfume isn't the cheapest thing. Of course there are perfumes that are retailed at a reasonable price, but with a designer label comes a hefty price tag. Daisy is one of them fragrances that made me spend the £45 for 50ml.

For starters, the packaging is lovely! The black box is simply and classy with the delicate daisy-chain on the edging, finished of with the gold embossed writing. Once you open the box, out comes an even more beautiful packaging - the bottle. The glass bottle is clear and of box shape, completed with a gold, obviously not the real metal, lid finished of with one large flexible-plastic daisy and two smaller ones. The bottle is beautiful and really looks nice when displayed on your dressing table or where you keep your fragrances.

The fragrance is described as the essence of a youthful spirit: sunny, happy, free. The top notes of the the fragrance are wild strawberry, violet leaves and ruby red grapefruit. The heart notes are violet, jasmine and gardenia and the base notes are vanilla infusion, musk and white woods. It's a truly beautiful scent that can be worn by anyone of any age.

This is my second bottle of the fragrance, I adore it that much. I'd definitely recommend you check this out next time you're in a shop selling it. I appreciate scents settle on each individuals skin differently and it may not be to everybody's taste. I would always suggest before purchasing any fragrance for the first time, you do go in store and smell it before purchasing because it may be different to what you expect. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend online shopping without going in store before hand.

If you are considering purchasing this fragrance, or in fact any fragrance, I would recommend checking out Cheap Smells as it offers many discounted fragrances, as well as cosmetics, skincare ect. The 100ml bottle is available in Boots for £56 which works out as better value than the 50ml bottle obviously but it is a large amount of money to spend on one fragrance.

Daisy by Marc Jacobs is my favourite perfume and has been since i began wearing perfume! its affordable and goes a long way. The pretty bottles matches the sweet smells of summer and flowers and is extremely refreshing, lasting all day. Comes in wonderful gift sets around the festive period and really is a bargain, myself, my mother and my best friend wear it and it always brings in compliments!

                  Disadvantages

A lovely perfume that is feminine and fresh- but needs to be applied often as scent disappears quick

I was bought this perfume as a gift and was very pleased to receive it as I had often smelt it when in perfume shops or department stores- however I always thought it was too expensive to buy myself.
This perfume is lovely, light, fresh and floral. It makes me feel very feminine when I wear it and very fresh. The scent itself is brilliant and I cannot find fault with that aspect of this perfume at all.
However the part I did find disappointing is that the scent as lovely as it is does not last very long and in order for it to do so must be reapplied often. This therefore is a hassle and it means that a bottle does not last as long as other scents and for the money that this perfume costs I'd expect it to last longer!
In general this perfume is lovely, girly and fresh- also it is suitable for both young and old alike making it a timeless scent.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

                  Pricey but worth it

Ever since I first saw the advert for this perfume on television a few months ago, I wanted it. The design of the bottle looked gorgeous and obviously the name of the perfume (Daisy) alone hugely appealed to me! What better than owning a perfume named after yourself? Lol. Anyway, I'd been wanting this perfume for a while - around three months, and although I really wanted it after having a sniff of it in Boots (it smells gorgeous), I simply couldn't justify paying £50 for a 50ml bottle - I think the most expensive perfume that I owned before recieving this as a gift was £35 and even that seemed an absolute fortune for a small bottle of what is essentially nice smelling liquid! My mum was totally oblivious as of what to get me this year, and as i'm pregnant I asked mainly for baby related items, however I did stick this perfume on my wishlist hoping, but doubting, that it'd be under the tree for me to open on Christmas day, and low and behold it was! I know it sounds sad but I was over the moon and couldn't stop hugging my mum bless her. I'm in love with this perfume and have worn it three times already and keep making excuses to go to a family member or friends house just so I can wear it and show off haha - the smell is gorgeous, most of my friends already know what this smells like but my mum's friend asked me earlier today what perfume I was wearing, and i've found that even my male friends like it.

My mum kept the receipt for this perfume in case I wanted to take it back (which I don't) so I am able to clarify how much this perfume is - my mum got me the 50ml bottle and paid £45, and my bottle of Daisy was bought from Debenhams. It can also be bought from places such as Boots, John Lewis, The Fragrance Shop and various websites. Prices do vary but you would struggle to find the 50ml bottle for under £40 and i'd also be wary of fakes due to it being such an upper end/designer perfume. The 100ml bottles are around £55 and there are smaller versions available that are marketed as purse sprays. Not only do I love the name and smell of this perfume, but I also adore the bottle that it comes in. I do think that the colour scheme can vary a bit - i've seen it in black bottles, red bottles and obviously the bottle that i've got which is transparent and made of sturdy glass. It has black font on the front and the lid is golden with gorgeous white foam detailing on the lid that forms the shape of white petals/multiple daisy flowers - it's really pretty! My bottle is very 'solid' and in a squareish shape - see picture. The bottle is very classy and pretty, and I think that despite it not sounding great, it is actually very elegant.

When you compare the bottle to the Someday by justin bieber perfume which is in the design of a rose, you can really tell how classy the whole daisy design is because it doesn't look plasticy or tacky at all and it'd suit a woman of any age - i'm 20 and I will be repurchasing once this bottle is gone and will be wearing it for a considerable amount of time, and I know that even when I was younger I would of loved this. You also get a little pouch which is pretty but to be honest useless - I like having my perfumes on display, not tucked away in little pouches. The box that the bottle of perfume comes in is black with daisy flowers on the border, it is equally as elegant and 'posh' looking and I can't bring myself to throw it away!

This smells gorgeous. I really can not put into words how much I love this smell - it is easily my favourite perfume ever. It's a very fresh scent, it reminds me of summer and the scent is very floral, the top note is wild strawberries which smells devine, it smells a bit like fresh strawberry jam with a gorgeous sweet undertone, it's not too sweet which I like as I think overlly sweet perfumes can be overpowering and at times a bit childish. The heart notes are violet and grapefruit, which at first I didn't notice, but after a while it starts becoming more noticeable - when I first put it on, the main smell was definetly fruity with a subtle hint of floral, with an undertone of something that resembelled freshly cut grass - very fresh and woody. The strawberry scent soon became noticeable which to be honest isn't as prominant as i'd of liked, but as I said before i'm glad the strawberry scent smells so natural and not over-done/too sweet as I think that the strawberry scent was any stronger it would totally ruin the perfume. I also love the slight twang from the grapefruit. The base of the perfume is quite musky, and I noticed that after around four/five hours there was a pleasant, very subtle vanilla smell.

This is a very feminine and playful smell, it's subtle and smells quite natural if that makes sense. This is ideal for day time wear, and I will definetly be wearing it daily from now on. I doubt that I will be wearing it when going clubbing as it's not very seductive or sexy to be honest, it's more fresh and 'innocent' if that makes sense! I feel refreshed as soon as I put it on as it smells quite 'clean', and it's a lovely feel-good, summery smell. I do think it's quite a young smell but my mum loves it too, so it really depends on your personal preference. The staying power of this perfume is good - I put it on earlier today (around 4pm) before going to a Christmas party and by the time I got home just after midnight the smell was still very noticeable and it's lingered on my clothes too. Overall this is pretty pricey, however it's a lovely perfume which I would reccomend.

                    amazing

This perfume is by far my favourite perfume of all time. At 45 pounds from John Lewis it is expensive but it's definitely worth the big price. I'm sure you can find it cheaper though on places like amazon or ebay.
Like all Marc Jacobs perfumes they always come in an beautiful bottle. This particular bottle named Daisy has 3 daisy's on the lid which really make it stand out when sitting on the shelf. It was originally the bottle itself which made me want to buy it.
The perfume itself has a really fresh smell which i love as it makes me feel really good. The perfume contains notes of wild strawberry, violet leaves, gardenia, violet, jasmine, musk, vanilla and white woods. The most prominent smell i think is the wild strawberry and vanilla which i absolutely love. Another things that's really great is the smell lasts throughout the whole day and i hardy even need to re-top. Ever since i started wearing it people have been complimenting me on my smell saying how much they love it. It's even become my signature smell.
Overall this perfume is an amazing smell and it will be forever my favourite smell.
