The Hugo Boss Hugo Woman Eau de Parfum will be available from GBP 35.00. The Eau de Parfum was in a fragrance set containing the eau de parfum and body lotion.
The Eau de Parfum is located in a round bottle with a removable closure. On the bottle is the product name. This includes 50 ml.
The Eau de Parfum is described as follows. "Unconventional femininity from HUGO: A feminine, fruity and floral fragrance with the unexpectedly masculine scent of black tea. Fascinating contrasts, which reflect the minimalistic glamour of the brand, and which redefine the essence of feminine fragrances for the modern woman."
The Eau de Parfum has a fresh, intense aroma with a flowery fragrance. It can be perceived an intense, fruity fragrance. The fruity fragrance reminiscent of blackberries and citrus fruits. This is followed by a gentle and fresh aroma. The scent of sandalwood can also perceive. The Eau de Parfum is not too high and not too intrusive. The fragrance intensity is moderate. The aromas are fresh and pleasantly sweet.
Top notes are boysenberry, tangerine and grass. The heart note is composed of jasmine, black tea, plum and Iris. Base notes are amber, sandalwood and cedar.
The Eau de Parfum is not long lasting. The scent is noticeable after four hours, but the scent intensity has subsided.
I would recommend the Hugo Boss Hugo Woman Eau de Parfum, as it is a pleasant and not too intense fragrance. The Eau de Parfum however is not long lasting and the fragrance intensity can very much.
My partner first brought me this fragrance a few years ago when it was first launched in 2000 (back in the day when I didn't have to buy my own presents)
When I asked him what initially attracted him to the product, he said it was because it was on a stand on its own in Boots. I didn't think it would be the packaging as it is quite basic; it comes in a white box which has a silvery grey band down one side with the word Boss cut out in white writing.
The bottle is also quite simple; it is clear glass and shaped a bit like a semi circle (which has been squashed slightly), on the back of the bottle is the word 'WOMEN'. The silver lid is quite big and has the brand name and logo on.
I would say it is a quite a natural fragrance, by that I mean it doesn't smell too synthetic or cheap like some fragrances can.
The fragrance is described as being fruity, and being made up of several elements: Kumquat, Mandarin, Mango, Kiwi, Pineapple, Orange, Cananga Flower, Living Passion Flower, Freesia, Orris, Vanilla, Sandalwood and Cedarwood. I find that the fragrance goes through a few transitions when sprayed on my skin, upon first spray; the beautiful aroma mango mixed with freesia is the most dominate fragrance. After around 20minutes, this subsides slightly and the vanilla starts to come through, after a few hours the fragrance adopts a musky aroma.
I find that the fragrance has really good staying power and I have worn both during the day and on nights out. I find it quite strong so I don't tend to spray much during the day and if I am wearing at night, I spray a little more and normally on top of the body lotion from the same range.
I haven't bought this for a few years, but a quick search shows me that it is not as widely available as the rest of the Boss perfumes which is a little disappointing. The most common size available is a 30ml bottle which retails at around £30.
Surprisingly, despite the fact that my other half chose this for me, he did make a good choice and I would recommend this fragrance and I would give it 5 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading.
"Boss Woman slowly strengthens and blends into the skin with a sense of femininity producing a rich floral fragrance that captures the essence of woman" - Perfume shop. Well, I can only agree! This is a great perfume to try for all you ladies out there - feminine, natural and beautiful - this perfume is a great every day, all year round scent if you want a fragrance that you can rely on.
I have been using both the Hugo Boss 'Hugo Woman' in EDT and EDP for years and years now, in fact longer than I can remember. It's a staple on my dressing table and I return to this perfume time and time again. The Hugo Boss 'Hugo Woman' (in this instance the Eau de Parfum) is a floral and delicate scent. It has top notes of Orris, Passionflower and Freesia along with base notes of white cedar and sandalwood.
As soon as you apply the floral notes come through and the scent of freesia's is easily recognisable. I can't say I really know the smell of passionflower or orris to be able to denote them but the floral tone to the perfume is clear. When first applied these floral notes are more noticeable and make the perfume smell light, fresh and natural, I then found that as the day progresses the base notes begin to make more of an appearance making the perfume more deep and woody.
As this version is the Eau De Parfum the fragrances are quite strong but not overpowering and last all day long. The scent although changes throughout the day does not lose any intensity and this is one of the reasons I love it so much. By lasting all day you can make the bottle last ages as there is no need to reapply and the way the perfume changes on your skin takes the fragrance from day to day wear into evening with its deeper tones.
The EDP is presented in a small glass bottle in a semi-circular shape. The glass is clear and has a silver top concealing the spray nozzle. The bottle comes in a white and silver plain box and the whole presentation is simply but elegant. You can pick up a bottle for around £35 from Boots but as mentioned this will last you ages.
This really has become a clear favourite in my perfume collection and is always on birthday lists and Christmas lists. I have, the last few years been bought this as part of a gift and can also confirm that the matching shower gel and moisturiser really intensify the scent and make it last even longer on your skin.
People often comment when I am wearing it and can very often even guess the perfume itself showing its popularity.
Like a lot of women I know I seem to acquire perfumes without even realising I'm doing it. A gift here, a duty free treat there and the shelf in my bedroom just seems to get more and more crowded. Obviously a girl can't like every perfume out there so I find my favourites and then stick to them with everything else relegated to the category of "dust collector". One that remains steadily at the front of my shelf and in constant use, however, is Hugo Boss Woman.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
As it is made my a big name in the world of perfume and aftershave you can find Hugo Boss Woman very easily. It is usually available anywhere that sells perfumes and often in the cheaper shops as well so with this one it's more a case of shopping around rather than struggling to find it. For example, it is available from Boots in the 30ml size for £30. Obviously you would also get advantage points when buying there but you wouldn't get enough to compensate for the fact that the same bottle can be bought online from cheapsmells.com for only £22.45 and the larger 50ml bottle can be bought for £25.80, so still less than you'd pay for the smaller bottle in Boots. As you also receive free delivery from this website it is a much better value purchase.
As I already said, the perfume is available in both a 30 and 50ml sized bottle but can also sometimes be found in a huge 90ml bottle (£37.95) so if you like it, it obviously works out cheaper in the long run to buy the biggest bottle you can afford/find.
I never keep the boxed from my perfumes so can't really be much help when it comes to describing that aspect of this perfume other than to say that the last bottle I got was in a box just like the one in the above picture. One of the things that I like the most about brands such as Hugo Boss and Calvin Klein is that they tend to err on the side of simplicity and their bottles and other packaging tend to be quite unfussy and plain, which I must admit I do prefer.
The bottle itself also looks like the one in the picture. It is sort of short and squat and a semi-circle shape with the squirt nozzle sitting in the centre of the curved edge and the bottle itself sitting on the flat edge. This might sound like an obvious statement but I do have bottles of perfume which are all curved and so sit on a shaped edge and roll all over the place (see previous review of Paco Rabanne Ultraviolet!), which is immensely annoying, so I do prefer a bottle that stays where you put it!
The silver lid has the Hugo Boss logo embossed on it and the clear glass bottle has the word WOMAN written in red on it. Unusually, if you look at it from the 'right' side the word appears as though it is written backwards because it is designed to be looked at through the bottle.
I quite like the design of this bottle. It is simple, has clean lines and looks good. It's easy to hold and to use with one hand as it fits nicely into the palm of my hand and doesn't have any jagged corners that dig into me when using. The spray nozzle works fine and delivers a find mist of perfume when I spray it.
According to the promotional materials for this particular eau de parfum it "blends strength and confidence with femininity and style to create a rich fruity-floral fragrance that embodies the independent spirit of a woman". It has top notes of orange, mandarin, kumquat, apple and citrus fruits, a heart of passion flower, cananga flower and freesia and a base of sandalwood, vanilla, cedarwood orris and musk which combine to make it a "fresh yet sensual scent, leaving an elegant lasting impression".
Well, where do I start with that?! I'll start with my take on it I think. To me this is a very vibrant, invigorating kind of fragrance. It's really fresh and uplifting and yet light at the same time so i feel perfectly at ease using this as a very casual every day kind of perfume. As it is so light I would never even think about wearing it for an evening out or for a more formal daytime occasion, but i wear it at least 3 or 4 times a week during the day.
Despite the inclusion of all the fruits and florals, none of them stand out particularly so to me they have got the blend just right. I'm not especially adept at separating different notes in perfumes, to me I'd rather that the fragrance as a whole smelt nice rather than being able to detect the separate ingredients in it and this is a perfect example of that. Together they make something quite zingy yet still very feminine and it's a scent that I absolutely love.
As for their claims that it embodies the independent spirit of a woman leaves an elegant lasting impression I'm afraid this is where I would have to disagree. Obviously this is a very personal opinion and not everyone will agree but I would associate these sort of statements with a much heavier, muskier and spicier kind of fragrance rather than something as light and fresh as this one.
I definitely wouldn't call it an elegant perfume and think older women would possibly find it too - sorry to keep repeating myself! - light and fresh for their tastes. I think this is definitely more of a daytime scent than an elegant and sophisticated evening scent and I would probably associate it with younger women than older ones.
Unfortunately for me this is where this perfume fails big time. Immediately after application it smells really quite strong, although not heavy in any way, and I love it. But of all the perfumes I have, this is the one that lasts the shortest length of time and the one that I ALWAYS feel the need to reapply after a few hours. If I'm just at home I don't tend to bother, but if I'm out for the day I have to make sure I remember to pop the bottle into my handbag as I couldn't go all day without at least another two applications. Maybe because it is quite a light fragrance it doesn't have such good staying power, but I have to say that from a company as well-known for their fragrances as Hugo Boss I did expect better.
Having said all that, it is not enough to put me off using it as it really is such a beautiful fragrance!
In case you hadn't guessed by now I absolutely adore this perfume. I'm on my fourth bottle of it now and have been using it for years. For daytime, casual wear it is absolutely ideal for me and smells uplifting, fresh and clean and I often get compliments on the way I smell when wearing it. Whilst the bottle is nothing special, it is also at the same time simple and clean looking which I prefer to the fussy, fancy bottles you sometimes get with perfumes.
For the price of this perfume I think it offers excellent value and because of this the issue of its longevity, or lack of, isn't such a problem. If it was much more expensive I'd have more of a problem applying it three or four times over the course of a day but as it's towards the cheaper end of the spectrum when it comes to fragrance then I'm not particularly troubled by it.
I would definitely recommend this perfume if you're looking for something light, fresh, uplifting and zingy that will see you through a casual day but if you're wanting something more sophisticated and sensual then it's probably not for you.
From me the fragrance itself would get a whopping 5 stars but I have to knock one off for its staying power.
I have been using this Perfume off and on for around 7 years. It is a scent that I like, but I know it will never be a favourite scent of mine, well It is nice but just not in my top 5 basically. I first tried this when I got the bottle from my cousin. She got it as a present and didn't like it, so I got most of the bottle. Also it was free as well, so that was even better for me!
The bottle that I have looks different than the Dooyoo picture. I have the 50ml bottle of this and it is a kind of round clear glass bottle with the lettering over the middle of it. I last bought this about a year ago and still have a bit of this left in the bottle and it is very different to the picture on here. Perhaps the bottle is changed but I always remember the 1 that I have got.
Anyway the 50ml costs around £18. Not sure if you get this in any other size, but this size does me ok, since I chop and change my scent so much.
The scent of this is nice. I like all the Hugo Perfumes that I have tried. They are just the kind of scent that I go for. This is branded as being a Floral scent, and in a way it is, but it's not overly floral and powdery smelling. The florals in here are Freesia and Violet Root and there is quite a few fruity scents in here too such as Orange, Mango and Kiwi, so this adds a nice lighter fruity twist in here. There is an airy kind of scent through here as well and it all goes together well. This also says that it is an Oriental scent, but I don't feel that this smells Oriental.
This lasts a good lenght of time and although I still reapply this through the day I can smell it faintly after spraying this a good few hoours before.
This is a good scent from a good brand. The Hugo Boss scents are good, usually priced good and there should be a scent there for everyone.
Boss Woman was first sold in 2000 and has been an understandably popular member of the Hugo Boss fragrance range ever since. It is a fragrance that suits most occasions and is easy to wear and easy to carry.
The bottle is available in 30ml, 50ml and 90ml sizes, although it is the 30ml bottle that I have. The bottle design is classic and understated. Whereas many bottles these days are designed to double up as an ornament on your dressing table (as far as I am concerned anyway!), this bottle is designed to be used and carried around with you. I actually think it looks a bit like someone's head and shoulders, with a semi circular clear class bottle topped with a fairly hefty silver lid.
The fragrance itself is delicious. It is quite floral, which is unusual for me because I tend to prefer fruity scents, but it is not overpoweringly floral like some. It is advertised as being a subtle oriental fragrance thanks to its sandalwood base notes, which I think is a fairly good description, although don't be fooled into thinking it smells like pot pourri, because it doesn't. The heavy base notes are complemented nicely by the flowery heart notes (coming from freesia and violet root) and the fruity top notes (mango, kiwi and orange). On paper, it sounds like a lot of different smells to get from one bottle and it seemed to me a bit much, but in reality, the different notes work perfectly together. None of the different elements are too overpowering, which makes it perfectly easy to wear.
Something else I like about Boss Woman is the fact that it is long lasting. Like a lot of people, I struggle to smell perfume on myself so I tend to overcompensate by spraying a little too much on. Not so with this though, because I can smell it and I find that it lasts throughout the day as well. I can't smell it continually, but every so often I will get a waft of it which is quite nice. You don't need to spray very much of it either, as it is quite a strong smell and so a little goes a long way I find.
Usually I wear DKNY Woman as I find that it is a perfume I can wear day or night. Boss Woman is possibly not quite so flexible as it may be a little strong for the day. I sometimes wear it for work, but I don't think I'd wear it to go shopping. The strong smell deserves to be showcased in the evening when you are off to party probably.
Price wise, it is quite reasonable. The 30ml bottle has a recommended retail price of £25 although you can get it on Amazon at the moment for £18.05, with free delivery, which is excellent value in my opinion for a fragrance that smells lovely and lasts well.
More known for its male fragrances than those it produces for women, Woman by Hugo Boss is a pretty good and reasonably priced product as a 50ml bottle can be purchased for under £25 and the fact that it has really good staying power means that you do not have to use loads to get the desired effect of smelling great and being confident that the smell will last.
It is a quality product and the Hugo Boss design flair is not lost on this product, the bottle is rather short but with clean lines in the rater squashed look that really does work, it reminded me a little of a paper weight in the way it is designed, oval in shape with a wide flat base to it. It is clear glass with a brown top and the box is rectangular with three quarters white and one quarter brown, again with nice clean lines to it.
The fragrance itself has a very fresh and lively aroma to it, I wear it more as a going out spray than I do in the day but on colder days when I need a pick (like this time of year) I do wear it in the day as well. There is a strong fruity influence to it with peach and apple being quite dominant, it is that whole smell of summer effect that it has that means that it sort of works een in colder times. It is a strong assertive smell and one that makes you feel confident when you wear it.
You do have to be careful not to apply too much as it is very strong and certainly lasts on your skin for quite a long time.
This will appeal to young and middle aged people in my opinion as it is a classy perfume and one that I would certainly recommend.
Before trying this perfume and liking it I had always associated Hugo Boss as being a very male brand with its clothing and after shave range but this Hugo Boss Woman Eau de Perfum is a very fresh and lively scent at as you get get 50ml sprays for under £25 it will not break the bank and also makes a nice xmas present as well.
The bottle itself has a nice clean design, a squat clear glass bottle which has a light golden coloured scent inside. On top there is a gold spray nozzle, do be careful when using this as I find that it does dispense a rather generous amount of spray and you are then in danger of over applying the perfume.
This is a very classy fragrance, it has a fresh lively quality to it and it is also rather strong, personally I think it lends itself more to evening rather than day wear but to be hoonest you can get away with using for either and even both to be fair. It also has a rather fruity quality to it as well with the fruits of the apple, peach and berries supported by the scent of water lillies. Like I said it has a very clean smell to it and one that I find does last a long time, it is not over powering but it does serve to announce your prescence.
This is one of those classic fragrances that will apeal to all ages, it lasts a long time on your skin and it is one that I would recommend giving a try as it will not set you back too much and I'm pretty confident you will like it.
I was recently bought a bottle of Hugo Boss Woman Eau De Parfum for a birthday present which I was really pleased about as I love receiving perfume gifts, something I wouldn't usually buy myself (until recently that is, now I'm addicted!)
The bottle is very elegantly designed, and looks quite minimal and classical, which I find appealing. The bottle is a little off semicircular and the pale gold coloured perfume can be seen through the clear glass. The lid is also easy to twist off and the spray dispenses a decent amount of perfume.
The perfume is described by Hugo Boss themselves as being fresh, fruit and a mixture of water notes, berries, apples, peaches and water lilies. Although I couldn't pick out all of these smells, I did really enjoy the scent!
On first spray, I found I could smell a pleasant peachy aroma mixed with a more floral range of smells, which was really nice. After a little while the fruit scents died down and a stronger range of floral smells came through and gave the perfume quite a bit of oomph!
5 hours later, I could still smell the Hugo Boss Woman perfume on my skin which impressed me as perfume doesn't always stay on my skin for as long as I'd like it to. Towards the end of the fragrance I could smell deeper muskier aromas which I thought were very classical and gave this perfume quite a sensual smell to it.
I wear this fragrance in the evening and on special occasions, as it's quite strong and I prefer something lighter in the daytimes.
In terms of price and where to buy this perfume, it can be bought at most department stores and perfume shops both on the highstreet and online. A 40ml bottle will set you back around £22, a 75ml bottle will cost around £26 and the largest 125ml bottle is usually around £35, which I find to be great value considering how long lasting this perfume is. If you want the perfume to last even longer, there is a shower gel and body lotion with the same aroma so you can layer the feminine, sensual aroma up.
Having got this for free after my sister did work experience at Boots, I decided to give this a try. One of my friends had used the Hugo Boss aftershave (basically, the man's version of this) and it smelt nice so I had high expectations for this.
However, the expectations were not met. The bottle was quite okay in terms of design: simple and minimalistic. But the scent just smelt like it was trying too hard, like they had thrown everything in just for the sake of it. It smelt overpowering and it did not smell pleasant. The smell was not fruity, nor was it flowery or musky; it just smelt of, well, to put it politely, it smelt like a bathroom which had not been cleaned for a while...if you get my drift. After applying it once, I decided never again as I just couldn't grow to like the scent.
Overall, this scent was not for me, but don't let that put you off. I, personally, prefer more girly scents in the sense of flowery or fruity so this one was definitely not to my taste, or smell in the case of perfume. I cannot comment on the price as I did not buy it, but I see that it actually sells for around 20GBP which is an okay price for a perfume! Just make sure you try a tester in Boots, or a department store before purchasing.
Towards the end of last year I was leaving a Debenhams store when an assistant from the perfume and beauty counter, asked my husband if he would like to sample a Hugo Boss aftershave, which he did. I remarked to the assistant that it was a nice smell, and she invited me to try Hugo Boss 'Woman'. I was impressed so later hinted to my eldest daughter that I liked this perfume. Being a bright girl she included this in my Christmas present.
I'll start by reviewing the packaging as this in itself is unusual and does make a change from the very pretty and 'girly' packaging (which I usually like) used in many of today's perfumes. This bottle is designed with curves and straight lines, simple lettering and a fashionable dull gold lid. It's an unusual shape which I feel would look perfect in a modern bedroom, especially one that is minimalist in design. The look of both bottle and box ( the box matches the glass bottle in colour and lettering) is simplistic, sophisticated and modern.
I wasn't confident about mentioning the' notes' previously, but now that I understand the meaning better I'll have a go:
The top notes are the quicker to evaporate. In this 'woman' fragrance the top notes are orange, mandarin, kumquat, apple and citrus fruits.
The heart notes are more lingering and often warmer. In this perfume they are, passion flower, cananga flower, freesia.
The base note is a dryer, spicier aroma and this is the one that takes the longest to evaporate so will be the longest lasting. 'Woman' uses sandalwood, vanilla, cedarwood, orris and musk like notes.
This perfume is strong when first applied but after a short time it settles down and becomes warmer . It is a sophisticated smell, owing much to the passion flower included. Although it contains flowers I feel it is more of a sensuous, deeper perfume, owing a lot to the fruits and woods.
After wearing this for about an hour it smells gorgeous and the different scents can be noticed. I wouldn't be able to identify each one but would say that it changes and becomes even more interesting.
I would say this is fairly strong but not cloying. I don't personally favour too strong smells as some can be headache inducing, but this for me is perfect.
It lasts well.
I think it is suitable for most occasions, day or evening but I wouldn't wear it as an everyday fragrance, as I feel it is too good for that and should be used for that more special event.
I have the 30 ml size but this Eau de parfum is also available in 50 ml and 90 ml containers and included in this range are, shower gel (50 ml) and body lotion (50 ml)
The 30 ml sized spray can be purchased from Boots.com for £26.00
Hugo Boss offers a wide range of fragrances for both men and women of all ages. Their cheapest bottle starts at around £10 up to £50 so they really do offer products for every budget. Not only do the produce fragrances, they also offer a wide range of clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories.
I received this perfume as a Christmas gift a few years ago and have to admit that I had never heard or smelt the fragrance before.
~ The Packaging ~
The box is quite plain but eye catching with white and pale gold accents which gives it a minimalistic feel. The bottle is shaped rather like a crescent moon with subtle curves not unlike the curves of a woman. The word woman features in red on one side of the bottle and the aluminium lid is embossed with the Hugo Boss logo.
~ The Fragrance ~
'Woman' is built around passion flower which is rarely used in perfumery. It is also known for it's fresh and sensual fragrance.
~ Top Notes ~
Top notes are usually the fresher scents that evaporate at the quickest rate with a high percentage disappearing after just a few minutes. These are orange, mandarin, kumquat, apple and citrus fruits.
~ Heart Notes ~
Heart notes tend to be much sweeter and last longer than top notes. These consist of passion flower, cananga flower and freesia.
~ Base Notes ~
These are the drier, spicier fragrances that take the longest to disappear so these tend to be the ones that linger the longest. These musky fragrances consist of sandalwood, vanilla, cedarwood and orris.
I would say that this fragrance is more for the daytime as it is not quite strong enough for evening wear, it is fruity and fresh and lasts well into the afternoon.
~ Cost ~
'Woman' is one of Hugo Boss' mid range fragrances and Eau de Parfum is available in both 50ml and 90ml bottles. The cheapest I have purchased the 50ml for is £23. You can also layer the scent with the matching body lotion and show gel.
~ Overall ~
This is definately a regular scent in my collection. It is fresh, affordable and easy to carry around in your handbag to top ups throughout the day due to the dinky design.
5 well earnt Dooyoo stars from me.
Boss Woman blends strength and confidence with femininity and style to create a rich fruity-floral fragrance that embodies the independent spirit of a woman. A contemporary fragrance for a modern woman's aesthetics.
