      Fades Too Quickly!

This was a gift I received recently. It's a perfume I had sampled before and enjoyed but had never bought a bottle for myself.

The perfume comes in a heavy glass bottle. I have the 75ml sized bottle although you can get it in smaller sized 50ml and 30ml bottles. The bottle has a nice design. It's patterned with squares of glass which look like magnifying glasses. The top is silver and clear plastic and does not sit very securely on the top. The weight and tall shape of the bottle means it's not suitable for carrying around in a handbag.

The perfume has a pleasant and strong fragrance when first sprayed. It smells deeply of sandalwood which is musky and woody and intoxicating. Along with this though there are softer hints of vanilla bean and flowers with a touch of cider in the blend too. I really love the fragrance when it's first applied. However, I do have an issue with the longevity of the fragrance. It has a very short life on the skin, fading away to nothing within half an hour of applying. This isn't simply because I've adapted to the fragrance, it just dies away. I actually tested the fragrance on some fabric and left it in another room and returned after a half hour and I could not detect the perfume much at all. It's very disappointing to me as I like fragrances that I can smell as I wear them but also that last throughout the day.

I would describe this perfume as being suitable for mature women rather than for girls. I think the complex blend and muskier notes make this suitable for ladies over the age of 25. I would also describe this as a perfume that could be used at any time of the day and for different occasions. It's fine for day way but could also be worn to a party!

I personally wouldn't buy this again as I do not like the fact that it needs to be constantly reapplied to have a presence. It's also quite pricey with the 75ml version being around £50-60. I think there are cheaper perfumes that are similar to this one that actually perform a lot better.

This is available from stores such as The Perfume Shop and Boots.

Hugo Boss BOSS Orange Eau de Toilette

The Hugo Boss BOSS Orange Eau de Toilette is available from GBP 30.00. The scent is available as 30 ml, 50 ml and 75 ml Eau de Toilette with an accompanying perfumed body care line. The Eau de Toilette was launched in 2009.

The Eau de Toilette comes in an orange-coloured flacon. The flacon combines elements of metal and glass. On the flacon is a silver imprint. The flacon contains 30 ml.

The Eau de Toilette is described as follows. "BOSS Orange Woman is a warm, complex and inviting fragrance that combines the uniquely liberating notes of crispy apple and white florals with a vanilla and sandalwood heart. They fuse to create a relaxed, unique scent you can wear with passion."

The Eau de Toilette is a fresh fragrance with a woody, oriental scent. The fruity scent of red apple can be perceived. A flowery scent that reminds of orange blossom can be noticed. Followed by the scent of sandalwood and vanilla. The main accords are white floral and vanilla. The scent is pleasant and the intensity is soft.

The top note is sweet apple. The middle note is made up of white flowers and orange blossom. Followed by the base notes sandalwood, olive wood and vanilla.

The Eau de Toilette is long-lasting. The longevity is moderate.

I can recommend the Hugo Boss BOSS Orange Eau de Toilette, as the scent is long-lasting and the scent is not too intensive. The main accords are white floral and vanilla. The scent of orange blossom and vanille can be noticed.

      A nice warming scent.

I bought my boyfriend a Hugo Boss men's fragrance for Christmas (previously reviewed) and funnily enough he also got me a Hugo Boss fragrance but for women.

The perfume he ended up buying me was Hugo Boss Orange. Now this scent doesn't really appeal to me for a couple of reasons. I'm not overly drawn to the packaging or bottle because they are a little modern looking for a vintagey tastes. I also wouldn't be drawn to buying a scent which is so obviously going to be heavily fruity as I much prefer florals. That said, I was excited to try it as it was something he had picked out because he liked it.

The perfume retails at around £30 for 30ml which isn't too bad though the 50ml at £40 or the 75ml at £50 do work out better value. I believe, girlfriend intuition, that my boyfriend purchased this from Boots so these prices would be consistent with theirs. You can find this cheaper online from discount perfume retailers so it is worth shopping around if you can.

The bottle for this scent is a tall, rectangular bottle that is quite skinny. It has a nice cut effect on the glass which creates lots of smaller rectangles that look very pretty. It also has a clear coloured lid and the scent itself is a beautiful light pinky colour. The box it comes in is white and has little pinky dots on it. Though initially I don't love the bottle for this scent I have grown to like it and actually find it more appealing now that I did at first.

The fragrance has a very fruity smell to it, as you would expect. The top notes for this scent are apple, bergamot and cinnamon. It really reminds me of Christmas, which is nice as it was a Christmas gift. There is something about that combination of apple and cinnamon that just makes me think of lightly spiced wine and this gives it a really rich scent which is lovely.

The heart notes are white peach, plum and orange. This once again enhances that fruity, winey smell which is nice. I don't love fruity fragrances but this one does smell very rich, expensive and clean. I like also that it isn't just your traditional fresh fruit scent, it has some lovely deep tones that are very warming and make it a nice perfume for the winter months.

The base notes are olive wood, sandal wood and vanilla. I do like a perfume to end on these woody earthy smells and this one combines it nicely with vanilla which adds a little sweetness. Despite the perfume being heavily fruity I don't find it overly sweet which is what I was worried about so I am pleased.

This perfume has a good longevity that I would expensive from a more expensive scent. I find it lasts around 4-5 hours which is pretty good, and traces can still be smelt on clothes, hair etc.

Overall, this is a surprisingly nice scent which is great for warming up the winter months.

      A nice everyday perfume

Santa was very kind to me this year, and as part of his delivery, he brought me a gift set of Hugo Boss Orange.

It is available in three different sizes, 30ml which retails at around £29, 50ml with a RRP of around £39 and 75ml for around£49. I was lucky enough to receive a 50 ml bottle as part of a gift set which also contained 2 x 50ml bottles of body lotion, came in a nice little evening bag with a compact mirror too. The RRP of this is £61 but I do know that for the last two Christmas's it was one of Boots better than half price offers running up to Christmas so it worked out as an excellent bargain. Whenever I buy perfume (or ask Santa to buy one), I always try and get a gift set as they seem to work out better value for money, plus, if you get some body lotion, you can get that all over fragrance.

The fragrance is quite fruity which is what initially attracted me to the perfume, the notes are as follows:

Top notes: apple, bergamot and cinnamon
Middle notes: white peach, plum, orange flower
Base notes: Olive wood, sandal wood, vanilla

Upon first spraying, the fruit elements are quite dominant, after an hour or so, the fruit fragrance does subside slightly and there is a slight floral aspect present but the main aroma if vanilla which I love. The floral aspect isn't too overpowering which I like as I am not too keen on floral smells. I find that the fragrance has good staying power, I always spray my perfume just before I put my coat on to leave for work and I find with this fragrance, at the end of the working day when I put my coat back on, I can still smell it on my coat. Having said that, this perfume is not as strong as I would like it to be, especially if I wanted to wear it for a night out so I think I will use this one for day wear only.

The bottle is quite simple yet stylish in its design, it is tall and slim, to the front and back the bottle is quite bumpy and down the sides, it has silver (not real) plates displaying the name Hugo Boss. The bottle and perfume has a slight orange tint to it too, but not so much that it looks cheap or nasty.

Overall, I would recommend this fragrance, it has great staying power and whilst not my favourite, I will definitely be re-purchasing, especially if on offer again next year. I would give the product 4 out of 5 stars.

      Thanks for reading.
