      Disadvantages

A lovely fruity and floral fragrance that lasts

I am not really a smelly person - I will explain! I don't think I have ever bought a perfume myself as I don't really like 'smells' and try and use organic toiletries or ones which are un-perfumed and un-fragranced. However I do own a bottle of Gucci Eau de Parfum ll which my husband bought for me on a ferry from Dover to Calais a few years ago. I think he paid about £45 for it which I believe is a good price as the cheapest price I have found now is just under £58 from online perfume stockists. I didn't choose this perfume and was quite apprehensive when it was given to me as if it was a strong heady smell I just wouldn't be able to wear it. However when I did spray it I did like it straight away as I would describe it as a floral and fruity smell. My husband had told the woman at the perfume counter that my last perfume was L'air du temps by Nina Ricci so you can tell how often I buy perfume!

As I am definitely not a perfume buff I find it hard to say what the top notes or the base notes are (and don't even know what this means) but I will give my own personal and honest opinion and my thoughts and findings. I find it quite a soft, sweet but fruity smell which isn't overpowering to me at all. I think it smells of blackberries, violets, orange and jasmine and also a bit musky but in a delicate way and is certainly not what I would call a heavy smell. I spray the perfume once on each of my wrists and the sides of my neck and find that this is sufficient and is enough for me.

The bottle is 50ml and is a square glass bottle with the words Gucci Eau de Parfum ll on the front in black. The lid is made of a very heavy plastic and is round and at least an inch thick and almost as wide as the bottle. Both the lid and the bottle are very heavy together and I am sure could easily break a toe if you dropped it on them, however this does appear to be a very substantial bottle which will last a long time. The perfume itself is a pale pink colour which looks very appealing through the clear glass.

I have smelled other Gucci perfumes which friends have worn and have found all of them far too strong for me but I do like this one. I think it smells expensive and very feminine and is a timeless smell which would suit all ages and is for use anytime during the day and evening. When I use it I would say that it lasts on me about 4 hours although obviously the initial strength of the smell does fade after a while.

As I say I have had this perfume now for a few years and have used about half of it. I'm not sure how long a perfume is supposed to be open for the best results but I keep this in a drawer so it is not subjected to sunlight so hopefully it will last me a while longer.

I would recommend this perfume for women who don't like strong heady perfumes and like more of a floral and fruity smell.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      One of my favourites

Gucci II Eau de Parfum remains one of my favourite ever perfumes. I had a small bottle of this the first time and it went everywhere with me in my handbag so I could always remember to apply it when I was dashing out of the house. That 30ml bottle didn't last very long so it's a sure sign it was a winner as I always wanted to wear it. The next bottle I bought was 100ml and this was a bit of a mistake as the larger bottle comes with a lid that weighs a ridiculous amount and makes the perfume easier to drop. I used it less just because it was in a cupboard but not because I didn't like the fragrance so much.

      Description
This perfume is just so beautiful, the fragrance is just right in strength and longevity. Read the ingredients and you'll have a good idea of how it smells: This soft, fruity floral sparkles with notes of mandarin, blackcurrant, violet, and blackberry, smoothed with jasmine, heliotrope, and cedar wood. A little fruity without making it seem cheap.

      In use
A couple of sprays of this is enough to get the hint of perfume I want without it being too strong, with me having a little baby on my shoulder a lot I don't want her to be smelling or wearing strong perfume so I am careful how I apply this.

      My thoughts
I love most of the perfumes by Gucci but this one is definitely my favourite. In the future I will go with the less is more approach as I much preferred the lighter packaging on the 30ml bottle than the ridiculous heavy plastic lid on the 100ml bottle. I swear it was a H&S hazard if you dropped it on your foot you'd probably break bones!

      Price
This is a really expensive perfume, I bought mine in an airport but 75ml is £72 on Amazon.

      Final word
I love the delicate pink colour of this perfume in its clear glass bottle. The smell is subtle yet endearing and I've yet to find someone who really doesn't like this fragrance. I hate the lid on my bottle, it makes the perfume really unwieldy, doesn't even look nice and makes me keep it in a cupboard (although this is better for the longevity of the perfume!). I much prefer the packaging on the bottle I had before (which is like the one pictured). Always a repurchase for me when I can afford it.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A lovely versatile scent

I recently purchased a bottle of Gucci Gucci II.

I had enjoyed the original Gucci by Gucci and I had tried the testers of this in Boots and really liked it.

      ~ Price and availability ~
This perfume is available to buy from Boots or online at cheapsmells.com.
      A 75ml bottle is available on cheapsmells.com for £61.95 (RRP £72.00).
I'm not sure if this is due to be discontinued as it is not available on Boots, House of Fraser or Debenhams websites at the minute.

      ~ Bottle ~
The bottle pictured above is the 30ml bottle. The 75ml bottle, which I have is a different shape.
It comes in a large square bottle. The bottle is just over an inch tall, but is about 2 inches wide and 2 inches back to front. The bottle is made from very heavy chunky glass.
There is a white rectangle on the front of the bottle with 'GUCCI Eau de Parfum II' written in black letters.
The lid is very large and circular. It is also made from very chunky glass and it is very heavy.
I like the bottle design, but the main thing I find irritating is the fact that, although the lid does click into place, the whole bottle is so heavy that if you pick the bottle up by its lid the lid comes off very easily. It also spins around on top of the spray nozzle.
The perfume itself is a light pink colour.

      ~ Scent ~
The perfume was launched in 2004.
The top notes are orange, blackcurrant and mandarin.
The heart notes are violet, blackberry and jasmine.
The base notes are heliotrope, musk and cedar.
It is very distinctive. I can detect sparkling fruity notes, but it is otherwise sweet, just the right amount of sweetness actually and quite floral. It has a slight sharpness to it, which I think comes from the blackcurrant note, but it is not something I think anyone would find offensive.
I can detect the woody elements in the dry down as well, but it remains a soft and delicate scent.
I seem to say this in nearly all of my reviews of pink coloured perfumes and maybe it's just in my head, but to me this smells 'pink'.
The manufacturer says of this perfume, "The fragrance is luminous, and light, casual and flirty, with a lingering trace. Its simplicity and precious components make it very modern and attractive to young women."
I love this scent. It is blended perfectly and I think it smells feminine, sophisticated and expensive.
I would definitely recommend this perfume. It is totally different to the original Gucci by Gucci, but I still love it.
I have found that it has good sillage and it lasts on my skin for around 8 hours, which I am pleased with.
I think it is a spring/summer fragrance and it reminds me of summer nights.
I think it would be suitable as a day time or a night time scent and I think it would suit more mature women as well as younger women.

      ~ Conclusion ~
      I love this perfume.
It is really light, yet very present and the notes are blended perfectly.
It is long lasting on my skin and has good sillage.
It is versatile. It would suit women of all ages and it works for both day time and night time wear.
I would recommend this perfume. It is certainly worth a try!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        .

I have just finished my bottle of this and it was the first time that I have tried it. I do like the Gucci brand and although you will pay that bit more for this brand I wouldn't say it is any more expensive than any other designer brand out there.

The box and bottle look like the little Dooyoo picture. The box is a square shape and a nice light pink colour with the lettering on the front in small writing. The bottle looks nice enough. It is quite plain in the fact that there isn't any fancy designs or shape on it. It is just a flat square shape and the glass is clear so you can see the light pink liquid through the glass. The lettering and lid on this is silver and it looks quite expensive without looking flash and over the top. The glass is quite thick and therefore it is quite a heavy little bottle.

You can get this scent in a couple of different sizes. The 50ml bottle can cost around £45 and the 75ml can cost around £60. I got the 50ml online for £32 so a bit of a saving to be had.

So how does this smell? It is a really nice scent. The notes that are in here are Violet, Blackberry, Mandarin, Blackcurrant, Heliotrope, Cedarwood and Jasmine. So although there is plenty of Fruity scents in here which are sparkling and fresh, the Jasmine gives that bit added Musky and heavy scent, which breaks it up that bit.

This lasts a good lenght of time as well after you spray this. At first it perhaps seems a bit strong, but once this dries onto your skin and settles down then it becomes a little bit sweeter and a nice warm scent. I found that I could still smell this faintly around 9 hours after I had sprayed this, so a good buy even though it is a bit pricey. I feel that if a Perfume does cost that bit more then you tend not to need to spray as much of it to get the scent out anyway so it perhaps doesn't work out too uneconomical.

A nice Perfume that I will buy again myself.

        Disadvantages

        Delicate, floral and fruity

Delicate scent!! Floral and fresh, ideal for summer!
It lasts the whole day, and people around will compliment the lovely smell.
It is a perfect day time fragrance, but it is also very nice for an evening out!!
This perfume is definately timeless and luxurious!
Its captivating sensuality, makes its sexy and feminine. When I first smelled it I thought it was irresistible!! I first came across this perfume when I smelled in someone else!! I couldn't resist and had to ask, which perfume that was! I fell in love there, straight away!!
The only disadvantage is that I can't seem to find a 100ml bottle! Although the bottle is really beautiful, it is quite heavy (espescially the lid), so it is hard to carry it inside your purse!!
This perfume is very elegant and sophisticated, however it is not overpowering at all!!
The fragrance includes notes of blackcurrant, jasmine and sandalwood.
I would recommend it to anyone!!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Smells gorgeous and looks pretty too!

Gucci II is easily my favourite perfume. Not only does it smell great it looks so pretty on my dressing table!

It comes in 3 different sizes, 30ml, 50ml and 75ml. The perfume itself is baby pink and comes in a clear glass bottle, so you can see the colour of it. It comes packaged in a beautiful baby pink cardboard box.

The perfume has a lovely fresh, tangy fruit like fragrance. Apparently it has notes of mandarin, blackcurrant, violet and blackberry smoothed with jasmine, heliotrope, and cedar wood. As it is eau de parfum you only need a few squirts of it and the smell lasts all day long. I think it is suitable for all age groups and for daytime and evening wear. It makes a great present. I bought a bottle for my friends 30th birthday and she loves it too!

If buying on the internet you can get it for a very reasonable price too. I always buy the smaller 30ml size which I can usually get for just over £20. If buying from a high street store the 30ml size costs around £30. With daily use I find it still lasts me several months and I don't like to keep my perfumes longer than this in case they go off.

I think it would be impossible to find someone who doesn't like this perfume, but that's just my opinion!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Feminine perfume

I quite enjoyed writing my last review about perfume, so thought I would write another review on another on my favourite fragrances, Gucci II.

          The Box and Bottle
The Gucci II perfume bottle comes in a baby pink box which is really girlie and feminine. The Gucci logo is embossed across the front of the box. Although the box is quite simple, with no major decorations or pictures on it, it still feels feminine and almost elegant.
The bottle itself comes in the shape of a square and the lid to the bottle is circular which makes quite a stunning contrast. The bottle and lid are made from thick glass and the bottle is pretty heavy (well for a perfume bottle it is!). The bottle is see through which I like because you can always see the amount that you have left. The perfume inside the bottle is a light pink colour.

          Cost
I normally buy my perfumes on the internet as I find them to be much cheaper (especially on eBay). This particular perfume, I got from www.scentstore.co.uk where it can be found for the following prices; 30ml bottle is £24.99, 50ml bottle is £37.99 so its not exactly the cheapest perfume but in my opinion, its well worth the money.

          The Scent
This is one of my more feminine perfumes, the scent is lovely, light and girlie. I have done a bit of research on the internet and found that this perfume is described as being elegant and playful and that is certainly a statement that I can agree with. The ingredients for this perfume include violet, blackberries, jasmine, blackcurrant, mandarin, heliotrope and cedar wood. So as you can imagine from the ingredients, this perfume is quite fruity.

          Staying Power
I wear this perfume for various occasions as I think it is quite a versatile fragrance. I occasionally wear this perfume to work, so I apply a few sprays in the morning and can still smell the scent on myself or my clothes at the end of my working day. With many of my fruity and feminine perfumes, they are so light that the scent fades really quickly but I am pleased to say that this is not the case with this perfume.

          Conclusion
I would recommend this perfume to anyone who likes fruity and girlies fragrances. For women who prefer musky and woody scents, then I would avoid this one. I know that the cost of this perfume is fairly expensive but I feel that it is worth the money because it does have really good staying power so even a 30ml bottle will last you quite a while. Although I feel that this perfume is suited to almost any occasion, because it is light and girlie, I like to use this perfume in the summer and while I am on holiday as it suits the mood perfectly.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A perfect scent that is one of the best on the market

Gucci II was launched in 2004 so is not exactly a new perfume on the market but it is one of my favourites. The perfume itself is presented in a square pale pink box which is very attractive and looks very neat especially sat on a dressing table. When I first saw this perfume I was instantly impressed with the design it is in a square bottle with a matching square top and is made from clear glass this enables you to see the perfume. The perfume is a very lovely light pink colour. The bottle is a little heavier than the average perfume bottle but this is due to the design, so this is not something that you can easily carry around.

This Eau de Parfum is labelled as being a soft, fruity floral scent that has notes of Mandarin, Blackcurrant, Violet and Blackberry. It also states there are Jasmine, Heliotrope and Cedarwood. This description is from the website of the Perfume Shop which states that the top notes are Red Berry, Orange, Cassia and Blackcurrant. So I would definitely agree with the description as having a fruity scent! The base notes are Heliotrope, Musk and Cedarwood for a more detailed description you can take a look on their website.

Gucci states that this perfume is Elegant, Feminine but also Playful and I would have to agree. I would not class this as a heavy scent and in that case can be worn during the day. I occasionally wear this perfume to work but if I am honest I do prefer to wear this if I am going out in the evening. I would class it as more of a special occasion perfume.

I can slightly pick out Jasmine scent, but this may just be me. All in all I have only good things to say about this perfume it has a lovely clean, crisp scent. One of the good points about it is that it remains on your skin all day. There are only the odd perfumes that have this ability and a few of them have to be very pungent in order to achieve it.

Gucci II retails at the perfume shop at £29.99 for a 30ml bottle and for a 50ml it is £43.99. I have noticed that a body lotion is also available in some stores, such as Boots and John Lewis. It isn't the cheapest perfume going but I think it's worth it in the long run.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

This perfume is not only gorgeous, it smells nice on too!

**Gucci: Eau De Parfum 2, Eau de Parfum**

I am currently working my way through reviewing some of my perfume collections the good the bad and the ugly!! If you haven't guessed yet I like my perfume and I have a bit of a collection going amassed through presents or duty free buys. If I see a deal in perfume I will purchase and if I am holiday it isn't complete unless I come home with a bottle. I ventured into the Gucci brand when on holiday and I love the fragrance but it is nearly empty so is on my holiday to buy list or Christmas wish list. I got my bottle of Gucci 2 in Las Vegas as a gift set so it came with a body lotion. The price was no different to buying it on its own as at the time I bought it in Macys on promotion. I was a little perfume greedy when there I also bought a bottle of Versace crystal whilst there too.

            **The Brand**

Well Gucci is another famous Italian designer fashion house and like Versace and Prada I have their perfumes! The Italians have brought us some elegance and luxury in the fashion and beauty industry haven't they. The label was founded by Gucio Gucci in Florence in 1921 and I think Gucci is top of the pops of the Italian designer brands. I do not own any clothes or accessories from Gucci as unfortunately their prices are simply too extravagant and high for me so my little bottle of perfume is my little slice of the Gucci empire!

            **The Scent**

Gucci II is promoted as a soft and fruity floral fragrance. Ingredients include mandarin, blackcurrant, violet, blackberry, jasmine, heliotrope, and cedar wood. (yes this time its cedar wood the one that Ben should have purchased in the Apprentice and not the more expensive sandalwood I actually think the cedar wood is better as I love this scent where as I don't really like my other perfume reviewed (Prada) which has the more expensive sandalwood in it!! It is branded as a playful but elegant luxurious scent and the perfume is very feminine and fresh.

            **The Bottle**

My Gucci II came in a lovely pink square box with a body lotion and a little bottle of perfume. The perfume is in a 30ml rectangular tallish bottle. It is a classic bottle shape and quite thick glass. It came with a good little lid but I lost that ages ago and has a silver nozzle to spray. Although I have lost the lid it never leaked in the bag. The design overall feels classic yet modern and trendy.

            **Use it**

To apply is simple you spray the required amount to your pulse area of the arm and the neck. I find you do not need much to apply to get a nice scent. It has a fresh floral smell to it and feels sensual and classy on. The 30ml size is easy to keep in the bag and others have commented on how nice this perfume smells. The only downside is that when it gets near to empty t is hard to get the last parts of the perfume out through the spray. The other downside is I have run out and need to re-purchase.

            **My Opinion**

I simply adore my Gucci II perfume as it came with a free gift and in a nice feminine pink box. I found the packaging was good and the bottle was a good classic design. As a fragrance it also suits me down to the ground as is a floral sweet fresh fragrance. I think I have a penchant for perfumes with mandarin and blackcurrant in. I find this a scrumptious and sensual perfume and would thoroughly recommend it to others as it is not too expensive and would appeal to most.

            **Prices and Sizes**

This little beauty comes in a 30ml bottle varying from £20-£30. You can also purchase it in a 50ml bottle from £30 to £35. I would suggest therefore that you don't pay £30 for a 30ml if you can find the 50ml for the same price! The perfume can be bought in the many online perfume shops or department stores and like me I would try to buy it in a gift set as that means you get something extra from the range for pretty much the same price. I think I got it cheaper in the US as I am sure it was only about 30 dollars plus the exchange rate was good at the time. However I think the prices above are reasonable for a designer perfume and it is a gorgeous little perfume to own.

              Disadvantages

Knock Off Quality at Designer Prices!

The recent credit crunch has had a considerable impact on my perfume addiction and so I've found myself turning to half finished bottles of scent as my newfound frugalness prohibits me from spending copious amounts of money on new designer fragrances each month. Gucci's eau de parfum II has been languishing on my bathroom shelf for a few months now. Despite the uninspired name and uninspired bottle, the Gucci brand name means you can expect to pay £30 for a 30ml bottle unless you scour Ebay listings and internet perfume sellers for a discounted offer.

One would think that the manufacturer's description of a fragrance would be a good place to start in getting an overall impression of the perfume. Alas, Gucci appear to have fallen into the trap of getting some sort of tree hugging, fairy chasing, cookie tripping English teacher and poet laureate wannabe to compose their product description which is as follows: Gucci Eau de Parfum II is a floral fruity scent with a distinctive musk base. Fresh, luminous and filled with a soft and discreet Asian breath, it is a radiant and sexy expression of timeless feminine chic.

And so it would seem it is up to me to disambiguate the description as I draw upon my Northern heritage to conjure up a more realistic and comprehensible interpretation of the scent. Fortunately, the mad men at Gucci hadn't completely crossed over to Lala Land when they wrote the first sentence and floral and fruity are certainly words I'd use to describe this fragrance. The fragrance notes include mandarin, blackcurrant, violet, blackberry and jasmine which would certainly explain the floral and fruity aroma. This is the predominant scent of Gucci II and is a light and feminine aroma which is flirty and subtle. The distinctive musk base brings an added depth to the perfume and gives the fragrance a more mature scent, contrasting with the fruity floral top notes sufficiently to prevent this from smelling like I imagine eau de Barbie might.

But from hereon, the marketing team at Gucci seem to enter waffle territory as they talk about 'a soft and discreet Asian breath.' I have no idea what this strange image alludes to but I suspect it is a subtle admission by Gucci regarding the perfume's staying power. As an eau de parfum, I would expect the fragrance to last on my skin all day but unfortunately this is one area where Gucci II fails as within a couple of hours, only the slightest and most delicate of scents remains on my skin. Perhaps this explains why the bottle has stood so unobtrusively on my bathroom shelf for so long. The girly floral fragrance makes this an ideal scent for daytime use but the lack of staying power makes it an inappropriate choice if, like me, you prefer to spritz and go in the morning without worrying about topping up your scent periodically throughout the day. As an evening fragrance, it lacks the sensuality and allure that I would choose for a night time scent.

Unfortunately for me, Gucci II just misses the mark. It would seem Gucci are basing their prices for this perfume on the Gucci brand name and not on the quality or longevity of the scent. Whilst it's a pretty and feminine scent, the fact the fragrance only last on my skin for a couple of hours at most makes this a rather extortionate purchase and at £30 for a 30ml bottle, Gucci have somehow managed to avoid giving their buyers either quality or quantity for that price. So unless you have money to burn, this isn't a fragrance I could recommend.

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

The best perfume from Gucci, fresh, sweet and fruity in a pretty bottle

By now you will have read a number of perfume reviews and have realised that I am quite a perfume addict and buy/ get bought a lot of perfume. After an awful 10 hour flight from Nairobi (in which a few Vodka and lemonades were consumed) I found myself with 6 hours to kill in Schiphol Airport and drawn to the perfume section in the duty free.

I'm glad that it was only my ability to work out the exchange rate that was affected as Gucci II was an excellent purchase despite being slightly intoxicated.

                ***Packaging ***
Firstly you will never be able to carry this around in your bag, unless you fancy carrying around the weight of a brick in your bag as this is extremely heavy. The bottle is short and flat square bottle made from a thick glass clear bottle. There is a thick glass wide circular lid which site on top of the bottle. Emphasis on sits, as the lid does not fit securely on the bottle which means the bottle isn't very portable and great for travelling with. It does look very pretty and is definitely mean to be sat on the dressing table.

The bottle is clear so the perfume inside the bottle which is a pink colour is visible and you can see how much is left. The shape of bottle means that it does not look like there is much perfume in the bottle as when full there is only and inches worth of perfume, but as this is a flat square bottle so there is actually a lot of perfume in the bottle (50ml!!!)

As I have mentioned the bottle is very heavy so if you dropped this perfume it is made from very thick glass which seems tough but I imagine would smash (and make a sizeable dint and mark on a wooden or laminate floor).

                ***Price***
The RRP for this perfume is £45.00 for 50ml and £32.00. It's slightly more expensive than some other Gucci perfumes but the whole marketing / image surrounding the perfume makes it seem a lot more exclusive. For example the packaging as described above is more decorative in comparison to Gucci Rush or Gucci Envy Me.

This is a perfume that you should definitely shop around for as the price varies massively in different shops. John Lewis were selling this for £38.00 per 50ml however Boots were selling this for £48.00. It is available online for £32.00 for 50ml. I'm shamefully going to admit I didn't shop around for this perfume and bought it in a duty free in Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. I'm not sure how many Euros this was advertised for (I had been taking advantage of the many free vodka and lemonades on my flight from Nairobi) but when I checked my credit card statement this perfume set me back £56.00 for 50ml (excluding exchange fees which were listed separate). Lesson one never consume alcohol before shopping as every purchase seems like a great idea!

                ***Scent ***

                The description of the perfume is;
"Eau de Parfum II is a soft, fruity floral that sparkles with notes of mandarin, blackcurrant, violet, and blackberry, smoothed with jasmine, heliotrope, and cedarwood. Playful, yet elegant"

This is a very light and airy fruity scent which smells very fresh and clean. The mandarin and blackcurrant are noticeable and give the perfume the fruity smell. This is a sweet fruity smell but not in the slightest bit sickly which is why the perfume smells very fresh and clean.

As this perfume is very light it does not smell very overpowering and may need to be applied again throughout the day. As the bottle is not portable this would have to be put into an atomiser. This may seem like a lot of hastle but the fragrance is gorgeous and worth the extra effort for how nice it smells.

Its definitely a real girly scent but because it is more fruity and fresh its not just for younger women. I bought my mum this perfume who absolutely loves it, which is a big endorsement as she is extremely fussy when it comes to perfume.

                ***Summary ***

A great perfume, in my opinion probably my favourite perfume from Gucci. Definitely more suited to be worn though the day rather than for night time/ nights out due to it being extremely light and fresh. Simple but lovely packaging which looks great on any dressing table. I would recommend shopping around for the perfume as prices vary quite dramatically.
