Estee Lauder describe their perfume creation "Pure White Linen" as a 'fresh, luminous' scent and I really have to say, luminous is definitely the right word for it. Even just having a little sniff of the bottle, there's an incredibly delicate, fresh sweetness that really is like luminous morning dew, or moonlight, or something else a little bit magical. Upon spraying the perfume onto the skin you are hit with some tingling fruity, citrusy notes, which swiftly sweeten into a spicier floral freshness. To me it has the tiniest touch of honeysuckle overlain by a summery citrus orchard. This fragrance is never heavy, it is light and sparkling from the first breath to the heart and base notes. The longer it is on the skin the more it mellows into the deeper, spicier notes, but there is always a lightness to it, making it absolutely perfect for daytime wear, especially in warmer weather when something heavier would feel cloying. That being said I am also often tempted to use this for a bit of a summery cheer-up in winter! It's not a perfume I would wear at night or for going out as its lightness is likely to be overwhelmed in smoky or heavily scented environments (like restaurants). For me it's the perfect office fragrance as it's light-hearted and uplifting without being overpowering. On me this perfume does settle very quickly. I would say within 10 minutes it is at a very subtle level, more of an aura than a scent, one of those fragrances that tends to make people think that you naturally smell amazing because it doesn't announce itself as a PERFUME. If you are someone who likes to have a recognisable scent on all day I think you would need to reapply at least once during the day. This fragrance is truly versatile and I think could be comfortably worn by a woman of any age.
~White Linen~ *********** Amongst the varied range of Estee Lauder fragrances that I have had the pleasure of trying is White Linen which has been a fragrance that I have worn on and off over a number of years as the mood has taken me. The range of White Linen scented products Estee Lauder make include this fresh and easy to wear fragrance along with a matching body lotion ideal for fragrance layering. There is also a slightly thicker body cream, a light bath and shower gel ideal for more subtle fragrance matching and a very nicely presented and softly scented body dusting powder, which if you are able to afford, at an eye watering £30, is a very nice way to complete the White Linen fragranced body product collection. ~Wearing the fragrance~ ******************* The white Linen fragrance comes as an Eau de Parfum Spray and Estee Lauder say that it can be worn all year long and although I do agree that you can wear White Linen at any time of year as I have done, I feel it is more at home in warmer weather. White Linen envokes a feeling of fresh spring breezes, with the fragrance having a clean fresh scent that I feel has been blended to please the nose when mixed with the smell of crisp white flowers, violet, orris and bulgarian rose. The scent itself is pretty and fresh when first worn on the skin yet doesn't develop as well as it could over time in my opinion. ~Top, Middle and Base Notes~ *********************** ~ Top Notes ~ Bulgarian Rose, Jasmine, Muguet (Lilly of the Valley) ~ Middle Notes ~ Violet and Orris ~ Base Notes ~ Vetiver, Moss, Amber ~Fragrance Type~ Fresh crisp floral ~ When to wear it~ Best worn as a day wear fragrance ~Value for money~ *************** In terms of price you should budget for a price of £19 for a small purse sized spray containing 15 mls of fragrance. A larger 30ml sized bottle will set you back closer to £32 and a 60ml bottle is around £43. With this being close to the xmas gift giving season there are some interesting deals to be found with gift sets containing both the fragrance and the body lotion. With a 50ml EDP spray and a 100ml body lotion being on sale for £40 that comes in a nicely presented gift box, now is a surprisingly good time to buy as the body lotion alone can sell for close to £33 for 250mls. ~Summary/ product rating~ ********************* As far as rating White Linen I do feel it has a fresh feeling classic scent that can be worn with ease by many women and thus it will appeal to a wide age range of fragrance buyers. The dated presentation may put off younger buyers and that ought to be a consideration if buying this as a gift. I would like to give White Linen a 4 star product rating.
I love perfume and if I am the lucky recipient of a bottle then I am a very happy bunny. I do make a point of looking in Superdrug and other discount chemist stores because they often have some marvellous offers on but when I buy any perfume it is usually a gift for someone else. I have relatives who lives abroad and twice a year they make a visit to the UK to visit family and luckily they always seems to think of me when passing the duty free perfume store at the airport. As we get that little bit older it is important to pick the right perfume, I used to adore the heavy perfumes, Opium was one of my favourites and at one time I was addicted Dior's Poison but now I find that I cannot wear them, I need a far gentler and softer fragrance. I also like a soft floral fragrance that I can put on in the morning and still be able to smell it later on in the day. Estee Lauder's Pure White Linen spray is among those soft gentle floral perfumes that suits mature skin and the light floral fragrance lasts for hours. Estee Lauder have given immense thought to the design of the bottle and have created a classic white glass bottle that has a spray top that is covered with an opaque glass cap. The pristine bottle has style and elegance and intimates that the contents are exquisite. I know that a 50ml bottle of Pure White Linen will cost you in the region of £32 but having said that when it comes down to perfume you get exactly what you pay for ( or in my case get given!) Estee Lauder have given the bottle the finest of sprays, so when you depress the button and release the perfume your skin is treated to a soft mist which dries in a couple of seconds. The Eau De parfum is weightless and you cannot feel it on your skin whatsoever. I am not a perfumier or an expert on what makes a good perfume, I have to use my sense of smell and my own personal preferences. Estee Lauder may well have been thinking about a sunny Summer day when they created the fragrance but it can be comfortably worn all of the year around. On a Winters day it reminds you of what you have to look forward to and on a Summers day it is light, pure, refreshing and remarkably uplifting. To my mind a good perfume is for wearing on your skin but I have seen many suggestions for using the precious liquid, spray it on cotton wool and tuck the cotton wool into your clothes drawers, spray your bedsheets or your handkerchiefs. Sorry, they are good ideas but I couldn't justify wasting my perfume on sheets or hankies. Each and every perfume comprises of notes, usually a perfume has top, middle and bottom notes. The word notes refers to the individual oils or scents that are used to make the fragrance. Estee Lauder have classified Pure White Linen as a fruity floral. The top notes include Raspberry, Apple, Grapefruit, Mandarin, Iced Rose Tea, Freesia, Lilies, Ginger and Cardamom. The middle notes are made up of Rose, Honeysuckle, Tuberose, Iris, Tulips and Osmanthus. The bottom notes are Heliotrope, Patchouli and White Cedarwood. Only Estee Lauder themselves know how they have managed to put all of these fragrances together and come up with a perfume that is light, long lasting and so very appealing. Pure White Linen is maybe not one for the younger women, a few years ago I don't think that it would have been at the top of my wish-list but it is an incredibly beautiful aroma. Think subtle, combine it with sophistication, add a dash of fresh air and stand in among one of the most beautiful gardens that you can think of and you will maybe be able to touch upon how lovely the fragrance is.
White Linen, by Estee Lauder always one of my Mum's favourite and is one of those timeless classics with a modern twist, and it will surely wear the test of time well. This perfume captures the very essence of a perfect day, and will have you drifting off with the thoughts of a nice spring day, walking along with a clear blue sky above you and the fragrance of the early blooms as they announce that this season has arrived. We all enjoy the feeling of getting into bed with clean fresh linen sheets on it, and White Linen helps to evoke this. It's ingredients include Bulgarian Rose, Violet and Orris blossoms which lend to sense of purity and lightness. Coming from Estee Lauder you are guaranteed a quality long lasting perfume had a affordable price. It is a fragrance that can be joined by those all ages, and I feel it is now not considered a fragrance of perhaps a more mature lady, they certainly have done alot to turn around the thoughts about the brand. So don't be put off because it has come from this perfume house!! What I like most about White Linen is that is a light perfume and not one of those ones that will overpower you, we all want to leave our marks but who wants their perfume to arrive before they do and leave a lingering impression for all the wrong reasons!!?? A must in my humble opinion.
White linen is a classic fragrance for the classic woman. It has a crisp scent which is light and floral and provides a refreshing scent which can be worn all year round and on all occasions but lends itself especially well to a beautiful sunny summer day. The gentle combination of floral and sparkling fruits notes ensures this fragrance is a classic fragrance and remains so. It doesn't follow faddy trends making it timeless and a stable component of your fragrance collection. The classical fragrance notes of Jasmine and Rose provide a gentle floral with added sensuality of the Jasmine but without the heady overkill element. The fruity elements of peach give a soft rounded element to the overall scent whilst the striking citris top notes open up the fragrance in a dramatic style which subsides into a beautiful classic fragrance. Combined based notes of cedar and sandalwood give a gently rounded and lasting base to give long lasting effect later in the day.
****Pure White Linen**** As people on dooyoo are probably aware by now i love perfume and i am always looking for new ones for my collection. I decided to buy this one after testing it at the Boots perfume counter. **About Estee Lauder** When i think of this brand i think "good quality" and unfortunately also "expensive".The brand started in 1946 so it has been around a long time. They sell skin care ,makeup and perfume. **Packaging/bottle** The packaging for this is very simple. The box is very boring-a light blue and white colour. Its not very eye catching at all and i think this perfume could be easily missed on the shelf. The shape of the bottle is slightly better as it is like a wavy oblong shape but still not that eye catching as it is a cloudy glass colour. **Smell** After spraying this my thoughts were that this perfume smells really fresh and light. Having tried the original white linen i would say that this is a more updated version of it. I would describe the overall smell as being fruity/sweet(with iced rose tea/grapefruit being the strongest things i can smell)The next strongest being lilies and tulips.. I would say that this is a perfume that can be worn on any occasion and is probably aimed at people mid 20s and older. I think this lasts a decent amount of time for how much you spray. **Price** The 30ml bottle is priced at £29.99 from Boots. Overall this is a nice fresh perfume that lasts nearly the whole day and is not a bad price.
