Christina Aguilera Secret Potion Eau de Parfum

The Christina Aguilera Secret Potion Eau de Parfum is available from GBP 19.90.

The Eau de Parfum was launched in 2011.

The scent is described as follows. "Secret Potion is a celebration of how glorious it is to be a woman: a combination of exotic and sparkling fruits and sensuous floral femininity. Christina Aguilera Secret Potion is inspired by Christina's favourite time of day - night time, when your sexiness and sensuality shines amidst the darkness. The oriental floral blend embodies the essence of a secret evening rendezvous with its exotic, sparkling fruits and sensuous florals for a feminine appeal."

The top notes are passion fruit, lemon and mandarin. Followed by the middle note that consists of white flowers of jasmine, orange blossom and lotus. Musk, tonka bean, amber and dark ebony form the base note.

The Eau de Parfum is fresh and intensive with a soft and oriental scent. A fresh citrus scent, that reminds of oranges, and the scent of passion fruit can be noticed. Followed by the light scent of jasmine. After that the intensive scent of amber and tonka bean can be noticed. The main notes are sweet and fruity. The scent is not too intensive and is moderate.

The Eau de Parfum is long-lasting and the scent is noticeable for around 12 hours. The intensity is moderate.

I can recommend Christina Aguilera Secret Potion, as the scent is long-lasting and the intensity is moderate. The main accords sweet and fruity. The scent of passion fruity and amber can be noticed.

      A nice perfume!

I love perfumes and am forever trying out new ones. I seem to have quite a collection; on my dressing table I have 17 different perfumes, one of which is this one; Christina Aguilera; Secret Portion.

Christina Aguilera Secret Portion is available in the following bottles:

      30ml (£18.95, Amazon)
      100ml (£35.95, Amazon)

Top Notes: Amalfi Lemon, Mandarin Orange and Passion Fruit
Middle Notes: Jasmine, African Orange Flower and Lotus
Base Notes: Musk, Amber, Tonka Bean and Ebony Wood

I love the bottle design; it's pink and very attractive. I love it's feminine design; very girlie and sweet looking. It looks great on my dressing table. There is something quite curious and mysterious about this bottle which I like. It's quite 'friendly' looking if that makes sense.

I would describe the perfume as being quite sweet and fruity. It is very clean, fresh and light. When I first spray the perfume, I can smell a general 'fruity' scent. Although after a while, it becomes clear that the 'fruity-ness' is actually oranges; I like the orangey scent; it's not too sweet or too strong. It's quite soft and very 'pleasant'.

Later on the perfume turns into a slight musky scent. It's not very strong. I was quite surprised as I thought that this perfume would reflect Christina's personality (she is famously known as being a 'strong' and 'independent' woman and so I would have thought that this perfume would have been stronger', but it is in fact quite weak. I couldn't really imagine her wearing it.

The perfume has quite an oily texture and so I am guessing this helps it 'stay put' as the perfume does have good lasting power. It lasts a good few hours.

The perfume is quite plain and not that different to other perfumes I have smelt. I wouldn't call it unique. Due to it being light and 'nose friendly', I would say that it is a great every day perfume and its not too 'in your face'. I would say that it is also suitable for women of all ages. I would also recommend it to wear all year round.

All in all, a nice everyday perfume.

      Thanks for reading!

        Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Secret Potion is described as a mysterious and erotic evening fragrance for women who like to be in the spotlight and whose beauty lies precisely in their strength and confidence. Christina says that "night is my favourite time of day and SECRET POTION reflects that"...

        Smells like...
        - - - - - - - - - - -

On first application the first note I smell is a citrus blend, with a undertone of a lightly powdered vanilla note. I'm surprised that I can't smell any passion fruit - it is a strong and distinct scent in all of my other perfumes containing it.

The vanilla is strong enough to last throughout the whole fragrance [I think it may be the perfume's interpretation of amber], so SECRET POTION remains sweet. I think that there must be rose in here, as something mixes with the vanilla and reminds me of Turkish Delights. Out of the listed floral notes only the jasmine stands out to me, everything else is lost in the sweet, powdery jumble.

There is no strong indication between the heart notes and the base, thanks to the ever-present vanilla. The undefined wood note mingles closely together with the vanilla and the developing musk, so it is a warm and creamy mix. It's pleasant, but boring and too close to the skin.

The bottle is the same curvy shape of a woman's silhouette as Christina Aguilera, By Night and Royal Desire. The glass is clear to show the pink juice - two more traits that the bottle shares with it's chief scent-a-likes By Night and Royal Desire.

There is a removable silver coloured locket around the bottle's neck, but it feels too fragile to be usable.

The lasting power is the same as the previous Christina Aguilera fragrances = pretty bad for a EDP. SECRET POTION burns down within three to four hours and becomes close to the skin after one. It's almost as bad as the Coty/Kylie Minogue Range.

The vanilla, mild fruits and florals, paired with the warm musk and sandalwood in the base mean that this is a perfect choice for autumn/winter, whilst the fact that the fragrance opens with fresh fruits and the sweetness is close to the skin means that the sweetness is soft enough to still appeal in spring/summer.

Even though SECRET POTION was created for wearing in the evening I think that it is best suited to daytime wear; both casual use and work, as it is so subtle. I personally think that it's too quiet for nights out, but it is a pretty adaptable fragrance - if you are prepared for top-up sessions and/or layering.

        Worth a spritz?
        - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The easiest way to describe SECRET POTION is as a mix of Christina Aguilera, By Night and Royal Desire; It combines the fresh fruits of her first release with the soft, warm, oriental feel and quiet floral notes of her last two releases. As it is basically a mash-up of her previous editions, there isn't really much else to say for this edition, I'm just repeating myself in all honesty.

Overall; I think that this a better blend then her self named release; the watery Christina Aguilera, but the florals are more underdeveloped then those in By Night and Royal Desire. Out of all of the Proctor and Gamble/Christina Aguilera perfumes I think that By Night is the one that is worth trying, SECRET POTION is just an imitation of a imitation.

If you know someone who enjoys Christina's previous perfumes then SECRET POTION will make a safe gift choice for them, as it's composed of similar scent notes to her earlier releases.
