My Bottle of "Royal Desire" is now on Ebay!!

I always seem to find myself sucked into adverts for Celebrity perfumes by the glamorous ad campaigns and of course the face of a major star. Unfortunately, I often find myself then going out and buying the perfume and then feeling like I've completely wasted my money - which is how I felt with this perfume! It isn't the first Christina Aguilera fragrance I've tried, I've also perviously owned and reviewed her Inspire fragrance which wasn't too bad. So I had hoped that this one wouldn't be too bad either. The bottle design was mildly attractive, with a nice print and a little charm around the neck of the bottle. The liquid inside appears to be a dusty pink which goes quite nicley witht the bottle too. The whole point in the perfume being called 'Royal Desire' is that the scent is supposed to be luxurious and rich "dedicated for women who feel like queens" ... but I personally found this perfume to be the complete opposite and this description of the fragrance being luxurious and royal may be suiting for other more expensive perfumes, but certainly not this one. The scent is very floral and I would actually describe it as being very light and airy (so not exactly what the makers of this perfume had been going for) I found it diffiuclt to smell anything but florals to be honest which just made it even more mediocre. I have since read the description online which says that the fragrance contains the following notes; Top Notes: White Marshmallow, Blackberry, Mandarin Middle Notes: Honeysuckle, Herbs, Rose, Lily Base Notes: Sandalwood, Musk, Cedar They all sound lovely, particulraly the White Marshmallow ... if only ther perfume actually smelled of any of these things. To add insult to injury, the longevity of the perfume is poor and I couldn't smell it at all on me throughout the day unless I brought my wrist right up to my nose. It was a 50ml bottle that I had bought for £21.99 which was just money down the pan really, I wish I'd bought something else as I do love my perfumes but I get very dissappointed when one doesn't turn out as I'd expected!

        Did not live upto expectations

I had never tried any of the Christina Aguilera perfumes so I was intrigued to try her new perfume "Royal Desire" when I saw the chance to get a free sample. WHAT DO THEY SAY? "Dedicated to women who feel like queens. If you enjoy luxurious things, seduction and finding yourself in the centre of attention, this fragrance was created just for you." After reading this I loved the perfume already as it sounded right up my street. It conjured up so many thoughts about what the perfume would be like; sexy, sultry and gorgeous. THE BOTTLE Christina uses a similar design for all of her perfume releases; this enables us to easily tell that they are from her range. The curved glass bottle has a pattern rising from the bottom of the bottle with "Christina Aguilera" written across the top of the bottle. WHATS IN THE PERFUME? Top notes: white marshmallow, blackberry and mandarin. Heart: honeysuckle, herbs, rose and lily. Base: sandalwood, musk and cedar. I am not the best person to ask when it comes to scents in perfumes but since I have started reviewing I have become more aware of what different elements smell like. I like a lot of the scents that are used to create this perfume and have previously used "M by Mariah Carey" which uses marshmallow in its top notes which I absolutely loved so I was sure I was going to like Royal Desire. WHAT DO I THINK? My initial thoughts of the perfume were that it was not what I had expected. It was a lot more subtle and less musky than I had imagined. The sweetness of the marshmallow blends with the blackberry to give off a scent that reminds me more of sweets than a sultry and seducing scent. As the perfume settles the other elements of the perfume begin to reveal themselves. I was disappointed by the fact that I could not really smell the honeysuckle as I really like the scent. The next scent I could smell was the rose but I have to say I found that it smelt quite sickly and I wasn't a fan at all. This could have been the herb scent in the perfume but I am not entirely sure. The muskiness of the perfume is what you are left with by the end of your experience with this perfume which I have to say is not long. The perfume quickly changes from one scent to the next and does not change my view that it is a disappointing fragrance. CONCLUSION This perfume was a big let down for me, it raised my expectations with its description and the ingredients that it had in but somehow it just missed the bar by a long way. It is quite a weak fragrance so it would be best to wear during the day but I won't be wearing it again any time soon. 2 out of 10. -also on ciao-

          would buy again!

<3 Royal Desire <3 ------------- THE PRICE ------------- I bought this perfume about 9 months ago from The Perfume Shop, I bought 30ml and payed £14.99 for this, personally I thought I was getting a bargain as lots of Christina's perfumes had been raved about! There are 2 other sizes available, 50ml usually priced around £20.00 and 100ml which is usually £30.00. ---------------------- THE APPEARANCE ---------------------- The perfume comes in a curved bottle which to look at kind of reminds you of a woman's silhouette. The glass is clear and see through and the perfume is a very light pink, the lid matches the bottle. On the front is a pattern which is kind of like lace, Christina's name ofcourse and a little ribbon around the neck of the bottle with a silver charm of a pair of lips. The box is a few shades of pink with Christina's name on it, Royal Desire and how many ml you get and also has a pattern around the top and bottom and a black piece of string which is wrapped around to look like a bow. --------------------- MY EXPERIENCE --------------------- Royal Desire is meant to contain a fruity blend of oriental fruits and rich florals as well as some warm sensual notes chucked in there! This fragranced was launched last year, 2010 and apparently Japan was the reason behind the launch of this, apparently the notes in this are what remind Christina of Japan! so here you go, some notes from the perfume took from the Perfume Shop website! Heart notes Lily, Honeysuckle, Rose, Iris Top notes Blackcurrant, Yuzu Citrus Base notes Musk Now on the first spray of this I was quite intrigued, but not in a good way! All that I could smell was blackcurrant yoghurt with hints of vanilla! A huge whiff just was hovering around! I could of got this smell by rubbing a tub of yoghurt over my body! But then a few seconds later the smell calmed down ( thank the lord! ) and out came this strong but not overpowering floral smell with a few hints of citrus, I have to say it made me feel quite luxurious! The smell of this is very rich and very sweet and feels very seductive while on, my OH actually fell in love with this fragrance and was forever complimenting how sexy it was. I found this fragrance to be best for nights out as it felt to much just for a casual day, I got a good few compliments on this perfume. I think this is best for younger women rather than older, I think once you hit your 40s you shouldn't use this, I don't think its mature enough for that! The lasting power of this perfume is awful, a good thing is it doesn't go musky on your skin after a few hours, the smell just dyes down to nothing! Keep spraying and you will smell gorgeous. Over all, if I had the money I would probably invest again. Luxurious!

** Christina Aguilera Royal Desire - Eau de Parfum **

** Christina Aguilera Royal Desire - Eau de Parfum ** The well-known pop singer Christina Aguilera released in 2007 her first fragrance. This was a great success and became the best selling "celebrity" fragrance of the year 2007. she's obviously not the only celebrity who has her own perfume line. After this first came the second perfume fragrance 'Inspire' which was less successful. Now her newest fragrance is called Royal Desire 2010. The fragrance comes in an elegant bottle which goes from narrow to wide from bottom to top. It may represent the lower body of a woman. The bottle is completely transparent. The spray is silver and a transparent cap. On the front is in brown with decorative letters Christina Aguilera and Royal Desire. On the rest of the front is a sort of floral pattern in brown. At the top of the bottle is a sort of brown rubber band with a charm on it. It is a delicious sweet seductive fragrance. It has a more flower smell but I also notice a scent of honey. This was my first impression of the smell but the notes are black berries, Yuzu (a citrus fruit from Japan which is similar to lemon), and marshmallows. I don't notice the two fruits that much but you can definitely notice the sweet marshmallows. The fragrance also contains Honeysuckle (, a sweet-smelling flower), lily, iris and rose. The base consists of cedar wood, sandal wood and musk. You can tell from the ingredients that the fragrance is very sweet. Besides the smell it is obviously important that the last for a long time and how strong it is. It's a pretty strong scent so you should not spray your whole neck and wrists. 2 to 3 little sprays is more than enough. The smell changes a bit during the day and becomes slightly less sweet and you notice more the cedar wood and the musk. It will stay with you during the day. Another wonderful fragrance from Christina Aguilera. It's a sweet scent and you have to be careful with not using too much but it's not a heavy smell and it changes from sweet to more musk and cedar wood scent. I don't think the fragrance is pricey and you can it for about 20 pounds.

Overall a nice perfume however would recommend until the price has lowered to buy it.

I recieved this perfume as a christmas present as i love the whole christina aguilera perfume range and have got all her collection, i expected this to be just the same lovely smell as all the others.. however i was a bit disappointed in this one, for me it did not have the unique smell as i came to expect from the others. It is nice however i seem to need to have to put on quite a bit for it to smell noticeable enough. Which is quite annoying considering how much it is at the moment if i ever wanted to pay for it again, am personally just glad that i recieved this as a christmas present and did not have to pay for it. In my personal opinion I would recommend to anyone who's thinking to buy this to maybe wait until the price has gone down, it is a nice smelling perfume however you may find that it will run out quicker then you expected!

                -

After finding that Christina Aguilera's perfume had picked up again after the disaster which was Inspire I was excited to find her new perfume standing alongside the new Britney Spears scent. I was a little naughty and decided to purchase it. The perfume is called Christina Aguilera: Royal Desire and it comes in three different sizes which are 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. Each size costs £19.50, £26.50 and £36.50 respectively. I have noticed it on eBay a little cheaper but this perfume has not been out long so it will be a little while before it goes down in price in store. The box is tall and follows the same style as Christina and By Night. The box is a dusky pink and brown. It has a pattern running over which in my opinion looks very much like wallpaper though I think it is trying to attempt to look like something regal/royal to tie in with the name of the perfume. It has a printed brown ribbon on it which runs around the box and is tied in a bow at the front with a printed set of silver lips hanging from the bow. In the middle of the box it is just plain pink and it has "Christina Aguilera" and "Royal Desire" printed in red and brown. It is the same font which has been used on Christina Aguilera's previous perfumes. I do like the printed ribbon effect as it gives the impression that this perfume is a gift just waiting to be unwrapped. The perfume bottle is elegant to look at but it isn't much different to Aguilera's previous perfumes which is a shame. The bottle is made of glass and it is slim at the bottom and then curves outwards as it moves to the top. It is what I would describe as an upside down hour glass shape. You can see the liquid of the perfume inside the bottle and it is a dusky pink colour. At the neck of the bottle there is a piece of brown elastic wrapped around it with a small silvertone charm which is shaped like a pair of lips. I do think it would have been nicer to have had the brown elastic be a piece of ribbon instead like it is on the box. The lid is a clear square diamond and you can see a silver spray nozzle through it. The perfume is scented in the following scent notes: white marshmallow, lily, honeysuckle, rose, iris, blackcurrant, yuzu citrus, sandalwood and musk. This perfume is supposed to be luxurious because it is a "Royal Desire". It is very floral but it has a powdery element. The main note I can detect is the lily but the lily is very powdery and has a vanilla element to it when I sniff it at first. I think this is because of the white marshmallow. As it settles, it becomes much more full floral bouquet in its scent. The honeysuckle, rose and iris becomes much more clear though maintaining the powdered element. The powdery smell makes me think of cakes being dusted with icing sugar. The perfume is very warm due to the musk. Personally, although the perfume is nice, I find it a little too floral. I feel like I am being suffocated by a forest of flowers if I use too much of this perfume so a little goes a long way in this case. It is very feminine but it has an older feel than her previous perfumes. I wouldn't say this perfume is aimed at a teenage audience at all. There is nothing to balance out the florals in this perfume. The few fruity scent notes which are in the perfume are overpowered by the strength of the florals and the powdered element. The perfume is quite strong and I do suggest only one or two squirts of this perfume when you are going to spray it. Anymore than that and you will feel as though you are drowning in a sea of flowers. It lasts fairly well - around 5 hours which is nothing to grumble at. I understand that the whole idea behind Royal Desire is to embrace the "queen" within all of us women but it is a little disappointing scent wise. It is Nice but disappointing all the same.

                  Not bad, but not special...

                  - - - - - - - - - - - - The fragrance - - - - - - - - - - - - I'm not a huge fan of the Christina Aguilera brands perfumes, but found last year's By Night pleasant, low priced and easy to find [pleasant as in comforting and easy to wear, but not anything original that I'd call a must-own]. Anyway; As the listed ROYAL DESIRE scent notes sounded like a combination between the ingredients used in Christina Aguilera and By Night I thought it'd be worth a try, so I collected several days worth of tester vials for a test... When I first apply this the only note I smell is a lightly powdered vanilla note topped with extra sugar [white marshmallow] - it takes a few minutes for the blackberry to develop and when it does it is short-lived. I didn't pick up on any mandarin, which is a shame. I do love vanilla notes but it seems flat and therefore boring here. The vanilla is strong enough to last throughout the whole fragrance and coupled with the rose notes it creates something similar to Turkish Delight, so the fragrance remains very sweet. The rose is the strongest note, but I can clearly make out the lily too and what I think is the slightest hint of honeysuckle [but since I knew to look for it I might just be kidding myself]. I can't find any reliable sources that clarify which 'herbs' are used but I can't make out even the slightest hint of anything other then the listed florals. There is no strong indication between the heart notes and the base, thanks to the ever-present vanilla. The sandalwood and musk are mingled closely together so it is a warm and creamy mix - combined with the lingering vanilla and you get the same general feel as the top and heart. I can't detect any cedar-wood. - - - - - - - - - - Scent notes - - - - - - - - - - White marshmallow, blackberry, mandarin, honeysuckle, herbs, rose, lily, sandalwood, musk and cedar. - - - - - - - - The bottle - - - - - - - - The bottle is the same curvy shape as Christina Aguilera and By Night - Only the curves are in reverse this time around. The glass is clear to show the pink juice and has a black fleur-de-lys pattern embossed on it. There is a remove charm embossed with a fleur-de-lys around the bottle's neck. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Other buying considerations - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The lasting power is the same as the previous Christina Aguilera fragrances = pretty bad for a EDP; It burns down within four hours and becomes close to the skin after one. The vanilla, mild fruits and florals, paired with the warm musk and sandalwood in the base mean that this is a perfect choice for autumn/winter, whilst the fact that the fragrance is close to the skin means that the sweetness is soft enough to still appeal in spring/summer. I think that this is best suited to daytime wear; both casual use and work. I personally think that it's too quiet for nights out, but I suppose it depends on what you have planned. - - - - - - - - - - My thoughts - - - - - - - - - - The easiest way to describe ROYAL DESIRE is as a mix of Christina Aguilera and By Night; It combines the mild fruits and florals of the former with the soft, warm, oriental feel of the latter. Much better than her first Christina Aguilera [which is too watered down], but it can't be described as original; it reminds me of a few other fragrances. But as this is a 'celeb' release it is less expensive than most of its scent-a-likes, so it's worth trying out. As it's already similar to perfumes I already own, I won't buy it myself, although it's nice enough that I would wear it if it were given to me as a gift. I also think that it would be a safe gift choice for someone, as it's easy to wear and none of the notes are strong enough to be disagreeable. - - - - - Price - - - - - 30ml: £20 50ml: £27 For £20 you can currently buy a gift set containing a 30ml perfume, a 50ml fragranced body lotion and a black clutch bag.
