I first got this eau de toilette as a birthday gift from my sister, and since then I've bought 4 or 5 more bottles. That tells you something about how nice it is. It comes in a distinctive, sleek and stylish clear plastic bottle, with a soft orange bit on the side which you depress to spray the fragrance. Now that it's been around for a while, it seems to be harder to find, so best to buy online, and it's generally better value anyway. Prices seem to be around £15 now, which is very reasonable for a designer fragrance these days. The scent is a subtle, masculine one, and I am complimented on it time and again, asked what it is. But most importantly my girlfriend loves it, to the point where she actually made me have another shower just before we went out last weekend, because she realised I was wearing a different aftershave!!! I do like a bit of variety now and then, but I obviously want to keep her happy, especially when she's drinking vodka!!! All in all this is a lovely fragrance, looks good, smells good, and certainly helps you to feel good!!!
===In the corners of my mind=== The first guy I properly went out with was a bit of an aftershave fiend. At the time his favourite aftershave was Calvin Klein Crave. As I fancied the absolute pants off of him I also came to love the fragrance. The years passed and I came to hate the fragrance and I stopped lusting after said gentleman and I stopped using it as much. My body even went one step further for a little while and developed a fleeting allergy to the stuff. This meant that the three or four bottles of the stuff I had collected through people giving me huge bottles for Christmas sat doing nothing in a drawer for a long time. I even gave a couple of the bottles away so I only had the one to get through. Recently I tried it out again to see if I still went off into fits of sneezing any time I used it and was surprised to see that after only a couple of sneezes my body gave in and just accepted it. ===Meet your Maker=== Most people will have heard of Calvin Klein. He is a famous fashion designer born in America in 1942. Having gone through two wives, at last check he was dating a gay porn star (Nick Gruber) who definitely looks better with his clothes off but also looks a bit like he might be Klein's grandson. When I think of Calvin Klein mostly I think of very sexy men in very tight white underwear. You'll probably be able to see those men in any shop that sell Klein's pants, Debenhams for one is full of them. Starting off with clothes, Klein, like many fashion designers, quickly branched out into jewellery and perfumes bringing out tonnes of products for us consumer slags. Yay for him. He put his name to this stuff but wasn't the guy who created it, in fact he had a team of people who worked on it before he happily stamped his name on the front. ===The Bottle=== The bottle this stuff comes in is very "designer" while at the same time seeming a little bit juvenile. Mostly though, it looks like something that belongs in a 70's version of the future. The box is slightly frosted plastic and is the shape of a lovechild between a square and an oval. It's almost like a designer case for glasses. Vertically up the centre of the box is the branding (all in bright orange) CALVIN KLEIN CRAVE and a little symbol that is like the male symbol (a circle with an arrow pointing out from it) except with the arrow being inside the circle instead of outside the circle. The box clicks open from the top and splits in half with the hinge at the bottom keeping the pieces together. Inside, you'll find the bottle which is made from the same whiteish, semi-opaque plastic. It is held in place by a couple of pieces of plastic that it is jammed between. There is a small orange dot where the eau de toilette is sprayed from and a rubbery orange pad on the top left hand side of the bottle which you push to spray the contents. The bottle fits easily in your hand and the push pad is lovely and soft. This all makes it quite comfortable to spray yourself even if it does look slightly childish with the plastic bottle. While the box can stand on its own (albeit easy to knock over) the bottle simply can't which is a bit of a pain and can make it look untidy if you don't want to keep the box. Thankfully I tend not to display my aftershaves so they all get put away in a drawer. This being plastic means that it doesn't bash against the other bottles. ===The Smell=== Top notes: Bergamot, Starfish Middle/ Heart notes: Pimento, Coriander, Basil Base notes: Musk, Sandalwood, Oakmoss, Tonka bean, Birch, Nutmeg, Vetiver The notes tend not to mean much to me but I've included them for those with a more sophisticated nose than my own. On the plus side they do back up my view that Crave is an incredibly spicy fragrance. Very warm, sweet and powerful. The initial burst tickles my nose quite a bit with how warm and spicy it is. There's also a distinct tanginess to the scent which at times can smell great and others can smell a bit dirty and unclean. This scent does not sit well with me if I've been working out or just hot in general. I don't know why but it just smells dirtier the warmer it gets. It works really well when it's cold though, possibly because of the spicy strands that hold it together. Being in Scotland tends to help with wearing this as it's mostly cold all year round. If you are in a slightly warmer region though, this may be a bit of an iffy scent. Then again it may just not mix well with my body chemistry. I know this smelled a hell of a lot nicer on the aforementioned gentleman even when it was warm. There's not an alcoholic waft from this stuff either which is nice, though I do find that occasionally the scents it produces don't smell entirely natural. They can smell a bit chemical and fake... still nice, just quite manufactured. Odd indeed. The smell is definitely a manly one at least. The smell I would say is probably most suited for night time as it's quite a heavy, spicy smell though if you apply it sparingly it can smell lovely for day to day use. ===Is it noticeable?=== In a word, yes. There are a few aftershaves that I own that get compliments readily from people and this is one of them. I don't have to get incredibly close to people for them to notice it either. Most people like it too which can only be a good thing! Sitting at work, having sprayed my neck and wrists with it I can still smell the sweet, spicy scent myself. Usually I tend not to smell the aftershave I am wearing after an hour or so unless I actively sniff my wrist like a mad man so it's nice to get a waft of the stuff myself. It doesn't fill the air making you smell like you've been in a bath of the stuff, but it's enough that if you're talking to someone within arms length they might get a hint of it. Hug them and they will definitely smell it. ===How long does it last?=== This stuff lasts for ages. In fact it's one of the only scents I own that I can still smell on my jumpers or coats a day or two after the initial spray. That does mean that it can be quite a strong smell when it's fresh on so it might be an idea to spray this a little while before you go out to give it a chance to take the edge off of it. The smell that is left over on my clothes is not unpleasant but can smell a bit unclean due to the really warm, spicy nature of it. ===The Price=== This is a really fantastic thing about this stuff. You can pick up the 75ml bottles of it for around £20 and it is available absolutely everywhere. I've seen it in Tesco, Asda, Superdrug, Perfume shops, and all over the internet so have a look around you might find you can get a really good deal. You can get bigger bottles but to be honest this stuff lasts so long you'd probably not need to. ===The Ingredients=== I don't claim to have a clue about what any of the ingredients do (apart from maybe the water) but some people may want to know what's in the bottle. For those people, the list is as follows: alcohol denat (sd alcohol 39-c), aqua (water), parfum( fragrance), benzyl salicylate, butylphenyl methylpropional, hydroxycitronellal, benzophenone-2, citronellol, hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde, alpha-isomethyl ionene, linalool, geraniol, coumarin, benzyl benzoate, hexyl cinnamal, eugenol, benzyl alcohol ===The Verdict=== I'd give this one a four. It's got a real punch to it and it smell is very individual. I've not come across anything else that smells quite like it. I'm a huge fan of it most times though very occasionally it can be a little overpowering. The price is definitely on the cheap side of things so it can make for a good gift. The only thing that I can even think about taking a star off for is the occasional vaguely unpleasant smell this stuff leaves behind. That means it gets four stars out of five from me. Overall a good one to have in the collection!
Although this is an aftershave and therefore a men's product I feel entirely justified in reviewing it. After all I chose and bought this for Mark, am the one who has to live with the fragrance when he wears it and even tell him if I specifically want him to wear it! Before I really start on the review let me remind you what sort of bloke Mark is. He's a man's man, despises the word metrosexual and mocks the very idea of a man taking any kind of interest in his appearance. He washes in soap and water, shaves his head to avoid the necessity for shampoo and would rather cut off his own leg than wear 'guy-liner' or 'mans-cara'. I think you get the idea; his idea of a good aftershave is one that costs about a fiver. Good job he doesn't expect me to be on the same wavelength when it comes to *my* perfume! I bought him this current bottle for Chrimbo, although he's had Crave a couple of times before that. It's such a masculine fragrance that I find it incredibly sexy whenever Mark wears it, the main tone is woody but various injections of mossy and candied notes make it a full-bodied and very interesting aftershave. It was a actually the bottle design that first attracted me to Crave, I had a discount voucher that entitled me to a half price bottle from the Calvin Klein Men's collection when I bought my bottle of CK One. The capsule style design is modern but hasn't been created with the too-trendy man in mind, in short Mark isn't embarrassed to carry it in his case when we go away as he has been in the past when I've chosen more flamboyant bottles for him. A little definitely goes a long way with Crave, the first time Mark used it it made us all cough as he'd been used to a weaker aftershave (an Avon one I think) and put far too much of this more potent one on. Now a couple of spritzes is all Mark needs to be smelling gorgeous for hours. The first blast of woodiness is intensely musky, not intense as in a particularly strong aroma but it mingles with a birchwood note which gives both fragrances a definite presence but doesn't allow either to take over the perfume completely. After roughly an hour the musky and woody fragrances develop a more citrus tone, it's not apparent whether this comes from orange or some other zesty fruit but it dances around the other notes to open up a fruitier aspect within the aftershave. I can detect bergamot at this point, quite a synthetic bergamot to be honest, so maybe this is what has caused the citrus aromas. This aftershave is constantly evolving, as Mark walks past I can smell different tones each time. He's been wearing it for around four hours today and my favourite stage has just come through, the spicy period of Crave. It's just such an amazing fragrance; there's a warm and heady spiciness which emanates in a cloud around the wearer, something that reminds me of an older brand of aftershave before the days of 'nutmeg this' and 'black pepper that'. This is definitely not a basic fragrance, but the period of spiciness takes Crave back to the more simplistic days of Old Spice and Paco Rabanne. After the spice starts fading you'll find the musk pushes through again; by now the rest of the notes have all but disappeared so you'll notice the heaviness of it, I think it's gorgeously blended to create a sexy but still very manly fragrance. I've just asked Mark how Crave feels to use, he shrugged and looked at me as if I were stupid then muttered something about how refreshing it is after he's shaved. A bit more prodding reveals that it only stings if he's nicked his skin with his razor and that he can smell the fragrance himself for a couple of hours after he's sprayed it, it would never occur to a man like Mark to reapply his aftershave so it's a good job this one lingers so well. I actually thing Crave is very reasonably priced for such a delicious CK fragrance, a 75ml bottle can be purchased from around £17 and it regularly has an even cheaper price thanks to various price promotions and multi-buy offers in places like Boots.
I purchased this for my boyfriend after smelling it on a friend once I totally fell in love with the smell of it, The bottle comes in its own little plastic white case, which opens up just like a glasses case, then inside is a clear white bottle. The case makes it look pretty fancy but really it is just a basic bottle. The bottle I bought was a 75 ml bottle which cost £17.50 there was also a smaller bottle of 40ml available for £13.50 but I wanted this fragrance to last him, as it has been one of my best smelling mens aftershave I have ever smelt. The top notes of this are birchwood, musk and Tonka bean, blending with a heart of sandalwood and lichen moss, and a top a base of vetiver and nutmeg. Now that probably wont mean a thing with all the scents mixed together, but the smell of this is a spicy sort of smell but yet really sweet, the aftershave is really strong once first applied but once it settles down it smells a lot better, and more sweet than spicy. My boyfriend does wear this day time and night time, so it is an anytime wear, he goes out to work wearing this and leaves his bottle at home and when he comes back home after 8 hours I can still smell this on him so it does last a long time, with no need to reapply. U would recommend this to anyone to buy as the smell of it is gorgeous, it lasts ages and is well worth the money paid, it is truly one of the best aftershaves I have ever bought.
Summer has arrived and what better a way to celebrate than smelling of summer! This aftershave is the most summery one I can think of, which always brings pleasure to my senses once I put it on. It's not the newest of aftershaves but is certainly one that I'd like to continue buying. You can buy this aftershave in 40ml or 75ml bottles depending on how long you want it to last. The larger 75ml version is cheaper in the long run and probably worth it for all summer, but of course it can be worn any time of the year. The aftershave comes in a translucent long and round box with the aftershave bottle visible through the front. The Crave logo is across the front in a white and orange colour scheme. The box flips open and the bottle can be released from the rather secure hold. The bottle itself is quite simple and looks modern and attractive. It's white with an odd shiny Calvin Klein Crave logo across the front, which glistens in the light. Towards the top left is a large orange button, which is covered in rubber to give good grip. Pressing this down releases some aftershave from the front top of the bottle where you can see an orange nozzle. The spray function works pretty well if you press the button down firmly and quickly, or some aftershave may just squirt or trickle out. A good even spray comes out usually. It has a slightly spicy smell, which is quite fruity too, bringing about connotations of summer. It has quite a light but subtle smell, which doesn't degrade too much over time so will last throughout the day unless you're sweating profusely or washing yourself. I have had people comment positively on this aftershave and they can definitely smell it after a couple of sprays. It has quite a warming scent but isn't too overpowering. I'd highly recommend it as it's very summery and doesn't cost too much either at around £20 online for a 75ml bottle. Thanks for reading! :)
I find it very important to smell nice and it gives me more confident when I'm out and about. You want to be noticed and especially when going out, people always come near you while speaking and it's just nice when they notice you are wearing a nice fragrance. I like the Calvin Klein fragrances and almost every fragrance they bring out I like. These days almost every well-respected designer has his or her own fragrance and Calvin Klein is certainly not an exception! Calvin Klein was founded in 1968 by Calvin Klein himself and is located at New York. Calvin Klein Contradiction is one of their more known fragrances and was introduced in 1998. The Calvin Klein Crea comes in a little bit futuristic bottle which is nice looking but at the same time it's a little bit plain. It's certainly something different from other well know fragrances of this brand and the normally you can spray using a button on the top but with this one it's on the side. Not that much difference and the most important thing is that it works. It does for me and I feel it gives me the right amount which means I only spray myself 2 to 3 times around my neck. This Calvin Klein fragrance has a very distinctive scent and feels very fresh with a hint of wood and a little bit musk when it settles down. I think this really makes it more a male fragrance and for me it's one of the nicest that Calvin Klein has done. It's not to strong and settles down perfectly and stays with you during the day. You can buy the Calvin Klein Crea in a variety of sizes from the 40ml, 75ml up to 100ml and the prices may vary between the 15 and 30 pounds. Which is not a bad price for a fragrance especially one that comes from Calvin Klein. I think the fragrance is definitely worth it. First I was going to say that this fragrance is more a evening scent but come to think about it, I wear this fragrance also during the day. Because it's not to heavy and strong, it's a perfect scent for day time and it gives a good confident feeling. I hate wearing a too strong scent when you see people having a disapproval look on their face. It's a typical man fragrance with a fresh and little bit wood musky scent. It surely doesn't smell like flowers or anything. It's definitely one that i would buy again.
A nice, new and different fragrance from Calvin Klein, Crave is designed for the man who knows who he is, but doesn´t need to show it, or the man who has everything whilst having nothing. Sorry enough perfume advertising speak. This is a flash new scent with the innovative idea of having the button to spray on the side of the bottle rather than the top. It is also a bottle within a bottle which psychiatrists could spend weeks debating. Appearance: This is a small product, I have the 100ml spray, which cost me 32.99 in Boots, but you can also buy the 40ml or 75ml spray. The bottle in many ways reminds me of a toothpaste tube, it is a lovely bottle within a toothpaste tube shaped container, there is a red button on the side of the bottle to spray the eau de toillette and it is ergonomically friendly and fairly nice looking, although the red button does take away from the general ´less is more´design of the bottle. Smell: This is a manly scent, it has a good level of musk and a woodiness which makes you feel fresh without feeling like you have sprayed perfume, it has been a big hit with friends, who do find it fresh and zesty but not to the point of making your eyes water, I do note an undertone of Jasmine in the smell, which I like a lot and I think there is pine or something similar which allows the scent to remain fresh and makes me smell good long after I really should. The Eau de Toilette is available in Boots and Superdrug as well as all good supermarkets and department stores, its more manly than CKOne and less pretentious than Eternity for men, overall I like this, I find it refreshing, not overpowering but it smells good, and I smell good, while the spray is easy to use and I don´t end up spraying the air, or my face by accident as can happen with other sprays, as it is clear from the red button, the direction the spray will go in.
I generally dont buy much aftershave or Eau de Toilette in this case, however having been bought this as a gift I think it is adequate that I make a review for it. In terms of packaging it comes in an outer case that is fairly straightforward to open and is also see through. The actual bottle itself is made out of plastic and looks pretty slick and dull at the same time. It is a riskless strategy and just has a big red button on it that is used to spray it. At the end of the day though that is all you want from this product so not really any complaints here. The smell itself I would say is a pretty fresh distinctive smell and really hard to put a finger on what the smell is. There is an authentic orange smell that comes from it, however it has extra flavours which makes it more unique. I have read lots of people saying that is very different, and although it is true, it is also similar to other specific brands out there in terms of texture and quality. Now everyone seems to say it lasts all day long unlike other aftershaves and I have some queries about this. Now unless your smell is the best in the whole world, how can anyone tell how long it lasts as after a few minutes your nose gets used to the smell and hence it is impossible to smell it anymore, unless more is sprayed. So I cant really comment on how long it lasts and will have to ask someone else after a few hours of using it if they can still smell it. Overall this is a very clean, slick product and comes at a very affordable price of £17 as Savers for a 75ml bottle at the moment. It is available cheaper online if you are willing to put a bit of time into searching and it is a product that I recommend.
Recommended fragrance! I remember getting a small test sample of this at a concert a few years back and to be honest, from then on I have loved the smell. It has a fresh yet masculine smell about it and is able to keep its smell for a long time - no one likes an aftershave that dies straight away! It comes in a stylish plastic container which is durable and light to carry around. Plastic sounds cheap, but infact the style of the bottle is cool. It has a rubber orange button for you to press. The shape of it fits nicely in the hand for when you want to apply the aftershave. I would definately say this is an evening aftershave to wear rather than a day time one. So, all in all, i would definately recommend this as a present for someone or for a treat for yourself. Enjoy!
I must say I love this after shave. It has a really nice smell to it, a fresh smell. It is perfect if your going out or going to work. I use it wherever I go and always smell fresh throughout the day, The smell is not over powering and stays with you most of the day. You can pick it up fairly cheap from ebay brand new and you can buy it through quidco and get cashback too so its a bargin to be had. Perfect for younger men and going out if your on the pull. I use it at night and pull my lilttle lady into bed with me. It comes in a weird case but the bottle is plastic so it won't smash and its easy to use. I would give this smell a 10/10 and the price is fab too. Very highly recommeneded after shave.
** My Experience ** I am a women and I love this fragrance. I even use it but dont tell the hubby ;) But I would say the case is very hard to open so I guess its very good for its way of child proofing and all! I think this frangrance is good for a young man who is out and about even for work, Smells great and stays with you most of the day! My hubby loved it himself and wears it for work the smell of it also gets away those horrible smells from being at the gym, playing football and rugby or out running! ** Occasion ** Wonderful Christmas, birthday or even annaverisary present! ** Prices & Details ** You can get different sizes to name a few 15ml, 40ml or 60ml. Price ranges from £8-£40. It smells like a blast of citrus fruits while sitting on the beach on a summery day. ** Summary ** This fragrance is not overpowering and is worth the money as its still half full after a year of having it! My husband loved the smell and uses every day. The fragrance lasts all day too so well worth those pennies.
Calvin Klein Crave is a fragrance for men that I got of my friend, and it is good for the money. It can be bought between £20-25 from most high street shops. What I like about Crave is that it is not too strong, it is a fresh mild smell, and can be worn everyday if you like. It is not as popular as other brands so you do get people asking you what you are wearing. The bottle is different compared to most fragrances and gives out a unique attitude with the colour of orange, as it stands out. Women do like this, with shop assistants saying that it has positive feedback. I would recommend this fragrance for people who are looking for something that smells really nice yet affordable. So make sure you test this one out first before you purchase it, it is a good buy and on the internet it can be found much cheaper.
I got this as a gift a year back. To be completely honest, it looked a bit tacky for a men's eau de toilette which costs around £25, espescially when compared to the sophisticated Ralph Laurens and Armanis of this world. I was pleasently surprised - this smells fresh, masculine, and while you can smell it, its not overpowering. This is aimed at young men - its the kind of thing you'd wear on a night out, not advised for those over 40 ! :) There are a few negatives though, one being, as I mentioned the case - hard to open, hard to make stand up, and generally awkward. Another disadvantage is the scent does wear out fairly quickly - after a couple of hours, and is often over-shadowed by a deodorant or even the perfume of the person next to you.
I love to wear a nice fragrance when I go out with some mates and there are many different tones and varieties of smell that are included in after shaves and eau de toillettes. I prefer to use an eau de toillette over an after shave because I find that I prefer the smell of most eau de toillettes over their after shave counterparts. This eau de toillette I am reviewing comes from a long line of superb selling Calvin Klein fragrances. This bottle is very different from the previous well known fragrances from this brand, as you can see it is a different shape from others and has a different way of spraying, using a soft orange button on the side instead of a button at the top. You can buy this fragrance in a variety of sizes from 40ml, 75ml and up to 100ml and retails for around £20-£30 from the likes of Boots and Superdrug and other perfume retailers and some supermarkets bigger stores. I have seen it online for some great prices like the 100ml bottle for £19.99 on Boots website and they also have some good deals on in store at the moment. Now the most important thing, how does it smell?. Well the answer is lovely. This is a clean, light fragrance with woody hints and a musky feel topped off with sizzling spices. They marketed this fragrance as one that women will love on men and I would agree. It is one of the nicest fragrances I have owned and just another great fragrance from Calvin Klein. This fragrance is versatile and you can use it for a number of occasions and it won't seem out of place, I have worn this for College and when going out to the pub with mates and it keeps you smelling fresh all throught the day even when having a dance in a club. There are so many different fragrances on the market that some people could become confused about which one to go for but it's simple when concerned with this fragrance. A lovely light fragrance that won't burn a hole in your wallet and give you a long lasting sweet smell that appeals to women aswell. With some great deals to be had on this fragrance and the fact that my Hugo Boss is nearly finished I may just get another bottle of Calvin Klein Crave in a couple of weeks.
