“ Manufacturer: Duerr's / Type: Jam „
I absolutely adore jam whether its on toast or in a simple sarnie. I am fussy though and if I purchase a strawberry jam, then I really do appreciate it to taste that way so I don't mind spending a little bit more on a branded one such as this, and this is from a brand I am aware of. When I got to the check out and realised it wasn't on offer and only cost me a pound (and it's not on even on offer) I was really pleased! The Packaging: 454g glass jar that has a green and white screw on/off lid to the top of it and around the middle of the jar there is a white label. On the front of the label I am told that it is Duerr's 'Est. 1881, Premium Strawberry Preserve and tells me it comes from a family business. Other information listed on the jar tells me the ingredients and that it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, there is a full nutritional chart shown, storage advice is given (once opened store it in the fridge for up to six weeks), the size is stated and contact details for Duerr's are given. Nice enough jar and of course it is as informative as it needs to be. The Jam Itself: Dark red and set firm, you can see lots and lots of strawberry seeds within it. Unscrew the lid and you get a slight smell of strawberries to it which smell natural and fresh and really rather pleasant. Taste wise well this is strawberry jam. Smooth, easy to spread and the seeds arnt too hard or abrasive and simply add strawberry flavour to it all really and a bit of texture. This is however a really, really sweet jam though not sweet in the way its full of artificial sweeteners but in an entirely natural way. It is of course sticky, easily spreadable and all round a rather nice jam for those for us with a very sweet tooth and I like it!
