      Disadvantages

If you want to save some cash when buying an SD card, this is a good option.

I bought this 2gb card a year or two ago when I was looking for an SD card for my camera. I didn't want to splash out a huge amount of cash on one, so I looked at some the of the 'smaller' brands.

At the time, the Kingston was much, much cheaper than the other more expensive brands, such as SanDisk etc. I couldn't quite work out what was the difference between the two - other than the name on the card. All the specifications were exactly the same. So, I took the plunge and bought the Kingston instead.

      --Test--

Luckily enough, my Dad had a SanDisk 2gb card, with similar specifications, so I decided to test the speed difference when uploading/downloading files.

      ..:Uploading:..

      SanDisc:
      20 x 1mb files : 15.6 seconds

      Kingston:
      20 x 1mb files : 15.6 seconds

      ..:Downloading:..

      Sandisc:
      1 x 253mb file : 2 mins 28 seconds

      Kingston:
      1 x 253mb file : 2 mins 29 seconds

So as you can see, the results were pretty much exactly the same. It did take slightly longer when downloading the files - but nowhere near enough difference for me to want to spend £10 more on the SanDisc.

As far as reliability goes, I can't complain at all. I've had it for over a year now, and it is still going strong. And I can't see it breaking any time soon.

So if you wan't to save a bit of money when buying a SD card, I would definitely recommend looking into the slightly 'cheaper' brands. You'll probably find that they are built in the same factory anyway, or something ridiculous like that!
