I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to buy a cheap home gym, it is the first home gym I bought 10 years ago and it literally changed my life, before I started working out I was skinny and in the first 2 years of using this piece of equipment I put on 3 stone of mostly muscle so have a lot of time for this homegym. There are a few different exercises you can do on this like bench press, lat pull down, pec dec and leg extensions and sit ups. It provides a maximum of 64kg so you are limited to how much you can lift but never less it makes a good addition to a home gym so is advised to purchase dumbells and other equipment to go with it if room and budget allows. The most somebody can weigh to use it is just over 19 stone so it is well built and heavy duty.
Having a home gym has it's benefits and one of those is avoid the monthly gym memberships and you don't have to wait for somebody to finish using a piece of equipment before you use it, it is convenient as you can use it when ever you please.
You can usually pick one up for around about £200 depending where you buy it from, I had mine for 4 years before selling it and upgrading to a bigger multi gym with heavier weights and have saved hundreds in that time on gym memberships alone.
In this era of cuts and frugal spending, the cost of gym memberships seem excessive at the best of times. So with a fraction of the cost and a little space, you can, as I did pick one of these up. Although I have had mine for a few years, I have found that I use this more now in between running sessions.
When I say you will need a bit of space, that may be a slight exageration. It measures 192cm x 86cm x 223cm, and has a weight of 90kg. You can work out just carrying it to the car as it will come in a flat pack box which requires assembly. The instructions are straightforward and with a couple of hours and a few tools it is assembled and ready for use. For storage purposes, the bench can be folded into a upright position and the pulldown bar can be removed.
The guidelines advise that it can take a maximum weight of 19st 10lb or 125kg. It is a well engineered device that allows you to perfom excercises such as bench press, shoulder shrugs, leg extension, sit ups without the weights and triceps press amongst others. There are about twenty different excercises in total which can target different areas of the body.
The weights are located to the rear and are assmebled in a stacked formation and are moved via a tension pulley system. The weights are coated in a vinyl plastic with a maximum weight of 32kg which translates into a maximum resistance of 64kg.
It works easily and can be put together without too many problems. You can pick one up for £139.99 at Argos at the moment. If you do purchase one, make sure you research into exactly what you want to achieve and gradually build the excercise up. Unlike a gym, there is no one to guide you which if you attempt without due care, could end up causing some painful and embarrasing experiences. But at the cost and if you have a space measuring about 8ft square, it is a worthwhile investment to compliment any excercise or weight loss programme.
Bought mine a used it every other day for a year when the right hand side Peck Deck sheared through use also after a further 5 months the pulley wheel bracket which hangs from the bench press handles started to come apart and requires welding. Also make sure you line the pulley wheels up corectly otherwise the constant rubbing against the wires strips them of their plastic coating.
