      A brilliant all-in-one printer

Being rather a novice in the printer market, it was with trepidation that I made the decision to entrust my home printing needs to Hewlett Packard and this 8500 series model. That the decision was vindicated came as a great relief as this system can amply cope with and indeed excel in fulfilling my hefty scanning and printing needs. The scanning feature enables smooth and effortless saving of multiple pages to one handy PDF document and requires almost no reading of any manual what so ever. As for the printing capabilities, the quality of printed documents even on the energy efficient 'draft' settings is beyond expectations and the cartridges really last quite a long time. I had to replace the yellow cartridge after 8 months and the blue after 10 months use. After having some rather basic models of printers in the past I can safely say this is well worth the investment.

Fab printer, prints, faxes, copies and scans clearly and easy to use!

I was given this printer by my workplace, as I work from home and I have to say it has been fantastic so far. The only disadvantage for a home office is that it takes up alot of space compared to a regular printer, but that can be expected for the extra range of features it has. The printer is easy to use, and comes with a disk to install the printer onto your computer, which pretty much does everything you need automatically, and is easy even if you are pretty rubbish with computers like me! Once the printer is installed and set as your default, its really easy, just press print (your computer is connected to your printer by USB), if the printer is unplugged from your computer, you don't need to go through any set up each time, so it's easy if you need to use it for more than one computer.

There is an autosheet feeder and a top bed panel which can scan to your computer (again very easy to do and clear), photocopy and fax. The paper and printer ink is really easy to install and replace and the screen on the printer will always tell you what is going on (e.g if the printer is cleaning it'self, if the paper or ink has run out) the screen even gives a representation of how much ink is left in each cartridge and will tell you which one to replace when it runs out.

It's easy to use, and looks pretty slick. The instructions and the installation CD are easy to understand for technophobes, and when it arrives, the printer is securely and safely packaged. Wireless and non-wireless options are available. Perfect for the home office, or a small business.
