“ Brand: O'Neill / Type: Casual Wear / Gender: Male „
I like the surfer/boarder type of clothes at the moment and in particular the T-shirts. I am not really into the big shorts and stuff which is also a part of the scene. The type of t-shirt which is in the picture of this review is more my kind of thing. It is simple and clean. The prices of this kind of thing is normally around the £10 - £15 mark which is about as much as I like to spend. The price can go as low as £5 if you look on end of line or end of season online retailers like m&mdirect or similar. The quality of ONeill's products is very good the t-shirts are 100% cotton and quite heavy without being too hot during the summer. What you don't want is something with will wear out in the washing machine. The colours never fade, some of my clothes are a good 4 years old now and they dont look their age. The transfer which is the design on the front doesn't break up in the wash either which is too common in the industry at the moment to.
When it comes to buying new clothes and in particular T-shirts I tend to look for the ones with the slightly different designs. Whether it be an interesting pattern or image on the front or a clever way of writing the logo I normally opt for something a little bit different. I don't tend to go for just a plain T-shirt but there was something about this T-shirt in the O'Neill brand that really caught my eye and swung me into breaking my normal trend and buying something a little different. They are a brand I am very familiar with and along with Animal and Billabong make up a large proportion of the Clothes in my wardrobe. As a recognised brand around the world O'Neill have long been mainstays in the surfing, skate and snowboarding markets creating clothing and accessories to suit their chosen market. Founded in 1952 the company have come a long way from very humble beginnings in a San Francisco garage to a massive multi-National company and that expansion and development has resulted in a rather large and well made range of clothing and accessories. While these types of t-shirts are usually the exception in my collection I decided that I needed something a little less decorative and bought myself the O'Neill Logo T-shirt. Of course the price did play a part in my decision as I managed to pick one of these up for just £11.89 rather than the RRP and shop price of £19.99. For that I managed to get a 100% Cotton T-shirt in black with the O'Neill logo across the chest of the T-Shirt. As mentioned there is no fancy design and the Logo really stands out by itself in a slightly different colour. The Logo is in a much lighter grey colour and stands out very well against the background of black on the main shirt. There are a total of 4 colours available and as well as Black you can also get it in Green, Blue and White. All the T-shirts use the same simple design and the only variance is the colour of the text across the front of the T-shirt and the actual colour of the T-shirt itself. The colours don't run and after 6 months the colours look just as good as they did when I bought the T-shirt. Of course with a black T-shirt I expect it will fade a little in the future but to date the colour has stayed and it still looks like new. It's not an ideal piece of clothing if you like your T-shirts to be a tight fit as it is a regular fit, which with this T-shirt means that it sits nicely off your shoulders. It isn't too tight over your body, but it isn't massively loose either which gives it a nice look when you are wearing it. The fit is exactly what I look for in a t-shirt as it doesn't cling too tight to the skin and gives you a little room to breathe but still looks slightly fitted. Overall this is yet another impressive piece of clothing from the O'Neill range. It would be fair to say that the design isn't anywhere near as inventive as a lot of the other T-shirts on the market but it's simple and at times that's just what is needed. If you are looking for a high quality T-shirt with a simple design and a relaxed fit then you could do a lot worse than go for this one. It is currently available from a number of retailers but the best price I've found for it is from Hardcloud.com where it is still retailing for £11.89.
