“ Manufacturer: Miss Selfridge / Type: Casual Wear / Gender: Female „
Self confessed Barbie lover since the age of 4. Anything barbie has to be in my bedroom. I even brought the limited edition Little Black Dress Barbie last year - yes I really should grow up soon! I was quite happy when I saw that Miss Selfridge had a range of Barbie tops and pyjamas. This top was limited edition almost a year ago now, but it is still a favourite in my wardrobe (if you can find it through the mess). It could be worn casual or dressed up depending on what you pair it with. The top cost me £18 when I brought it, but I am aware that it is on eBay now for a fraction of the price. As it is limited edition this is about the only place you are able to purchase it. I do think £18 is a bit much for a vest top, but your paying for the branding. As you can see, the print on the front is quite large which I like as it means you can see it easier. The picture is of a city in black and white. There is a bright pink lipstick kiss in the corner with the wording 'Barbie In The City' also in pink. A barbie doll is printed over the Polaroid image and instead of being cartoon, its an actual doll which I liked. The Barbie looks quite summery in a pink dress and she has a copper coloured handbag. I love the dimensions to the image as it isn't just flat like some, its got a lot to look at. The straps are quite thick and the vest is quite long on me (I'm 5ft3) but obviously if you are taller then it may not be as long. The neck is rounded and it comes quite low so I wear a bright pink layer top underneath (I don't want anything falling out!). I tend to wear my vest with anything. I have worn it with denim shorts, bandeau skirt, jeans and leggings - it really depends on your individual style. I actually took mine up a little due to the fact it came so long on me and was more of a dress. I have put my vest through the wash a number of times, following the instructions given and it is in perfect condition. I do not use my tumble dryer as I think it ruins clothes so I hang it on a dryer which keeps it looking good. There are no bobbles and the image on the front hasn't faded or cracked at all. Obviously if you do not look after the top then it will ruin easier. If you can find one for sale on eBay or elsewhere online, it is well worth the buy. Its not the usual top you'd expect in a wardrobe. Its excellent quality and lasts for a long time! Rated down a star for the price and the fact it was limited edition.
I got this limited edition barbie top a while ago now (8 months plus), but i still wear it regulary and it looks great with leggings or jeans for a simple look. I got it from eBay for £4, but it's originally a Miss Selfridge product and the RRP is £18, which is extremely overpriced in my opinion and there's no way i'd of bought it full price. The top is a thick strap racer back style vest with a white background and large polaroid photo print that fills up more than half of the vest. The picture is of (presumabley) a large american city. The picture is in black and white and in the bottom left corner is a small neon pink lipstick kiss. On the upper left hand side there is medium sized neon pink writing saying 'barbie in the city.' On the right of the paraloid is a Barbie doll (not a cartoon, it's an actual photo of a real barbie doll.) The barbie is wearing a pink and white summery floral dress and has a large metallic bag hanging off her arm suggesting she's been shopping in the city. Her head and upper body is ontop of the polaroid print but her legs are on the white background of the vest, giving the picture of barbie a 3D look. It has a scoop neck that's very low and although i've got pretty big boobs it does fall down alot and has 0% support, total nightmare as i always have to readjust it, so god knows what it'd be like on anyone with slightly smaller boobs! I think it'd be a nightmare and wouldn't reccomend it at all unless it was worn with a bandeau or another vest underneath. It's a very girly vest and although i don't really like barbie, i did and still do think it's very pretty, unique and cute. I love wearing it with leggings as it's nice and long, probably just above my mid thigh. The vest is very soft and comfy as it's 100% cotton and has a bit of stretch to it too. It's generous in size and even my usual size 8 was too big for me! I don't mind that though because it gives it a slouchy look but still looks cute because of the barbie design. Washes really well and the barbie slogan hasn't faded or bobbled yet even after almost a year. It's not for sale anymore apart from on eBay and similar sites due to it been limited edition but if you do come across it and decide you like it, it'd definetly reccomend buying it - it brightens up any outfit :-)
A few days ago with my latest cheque from Dooyoo cleared in the bank I decided to make a trip up to Selfridges in Birmingham to check out the sales in there as my mate had told me they were selling Pauls Boutique bags dead cheap - that is enough to get me moving to town I can tell you! But while I was there I decided to have a look around all the little shops in the like Topshop and obviously Miss Selfridge and all my plans of buying a new handbag went out of the window as soon as I saw this top. The one I mean is obviously this "Barbie In The City" vest and I fell in love with it straight away - I think I would have bought it regardless of the price in all honesty! This top cost me £18 from Miss Selfridge and can also be bought for the same price on their website (along with an added £4 P&P). There are other Barbie tops in the range but I think they might be limited edition for Barbies 50th Anniversary so if you like it better off getting it now to avoid disappointment as once its gone its gone for good. This top is available in size 6 up to 16 so whatever size you are I think one will find one to fit. However I recommend buying a size smaller than usual from this store as Im usually a size 10 and although I bought a size 10 Barbie top its far too big so buy one lower - it will make you feel so good about yourself if nothing else! The top itself is white in colour and quite long so it looks great with jeggings or leggings and it helps that it totally covers your bum! The print on the front is of Barbie against a New York backdrop with "Barbie In The City" printed on it in bright pink lettering and hot pink lips. Definitely one for the girly girls as it is super girly and feminine yet I dont think it looks to "young" its just trendy and and proper comfy as well. Its Barbie meets Sex & The City - what more could I ask for in a top?! It even matches my neon pink PB bag - nothing has ever matched it before so Im doubly happy. The only problem I have with mine is it is way to big on the chest area if you catch my drift. I never normally have a problem filling out the chest area on a size 10 top but this one is so baggy I keep having to pull it up every 5 minutes to make sure no-one catches an eyeful. So even if your not among the flat chested population I recommend wearing a top underneath this just to make sure you dont fall out! But apart from that Im buzzing with my purchase and I hope Ill be wearing this for some time to come. Its a casual top but can make a normal boring outfit look a bit prettier and more dressed up but its till really comfortable. I definitely recommend and I think Im going back soon for some more Barbie themed items. Thanks For Reading x0 Salz 0x
