Matalan Stripe T
I remember my first Matalan. When the chain first came over to Britain we had to join and the initial membership was £10.00 and you got some of it back once over £100.00 was spent. Somehow we lost our card and had to re-join, fortunately by then membership was only £1.00. These days of course it is just like any other budget style fashion store. I used to use it a lot for jeans, shorts and T's for my daughter when she was growing up, occasionally buying something for myself or for the home too. Over the last few years it has become a favourite store to pop into for me to stock up on tops for work and the odd dress and trousers as well. (taken from my Matalan Long Sleeve T Shirt review).
This review is for the Stripe T Shirt Top and I bought one of these striped tops on an autumn visit to Matalan at the grand price of £3.00 and thought at that price I couldn't go wrong.
Mine is a multi brown striped top that goes with anything and is lovely to wear under a shirt and over a vest. The neck is round slightly going to a vee neck and is neither a high neck or too low. When I bought mine in the sale they were also available in multi blue, multi black as well as grey and red and grey and navy stripe options with the 2 colour stripe options having broader stripes. All the stripes though are horizontal.
I believe the sizes are the normal Matalan range of 8-20. The style is slightly nipped in at the waist and the top is French stitched throughout and is comfortable and hardwearing. The style is my preferred longer style that can be worn over or under the waistband is flattering to all shapes and great for keeping warm in winter. The sleeves fall mid upper arm and usually I would choose on or below the elbow, suffering a little with bingo wings, but as I bought this as an item to layer it is really not a problem. I have worn it a lot over the last few months and it still looks like new.
I have washed my tops on both the cotton and synthetic cycle at 30 and 40 degrees. This top always dry's well and requires minimum ironing. Occasionally I have tumble dried it as well and it does not require ironing when it has been tumbled.
Price & Availability:
As mentioned mine was in the sale, but I am sure Matalan will be selling them again in the spring/summer collection and I believe they are around £4-£5 usually and are only available from Matalan.
A nice top that is in the Dooyoo catalogue and one of the many Matalan items I enjoy wearing. Recommended highly for quality and value.
One thing I think that you can never have too many of is t-shirts. Even in this cold weather I still buy and wear them to layer up with!
This one I bought in Matalan recently for £4.00 and it is made from 100% Cotton so I thought that was pretty good value and in fact I invested in two oft them!
This is available to purchase in sizes 8-20 and comes in two different colours, as shown the red and grey striped one and also a navy and white one as well which retails at the same price. Style wise this is a long length t-shirt in style coming to my bottom and is rather fitted in the body with a large scoop neck to it which is wide though doesn't shown any of my cleavage or anything. It has just a little longer than capped sleeves and is really well made with the seams sitting in the right place and so on and it has a nice stretchy feel to it to without it going out of shape.
They are lightweight and breathable and not one bit see through. I wash and wear mine often, washing them in the washing machine on a 30c or 40c wash and I tumble dry it as well and I have had no issues with colour fade, bobbling, shrinkage or anything else adverse at all.
Due to this being made from cotton and really soft on my skin I even wear this with my pj bottoms in bed, so versatile it is too and yep these get the thumbs up from me!
Only available from Matalan stores costing £4.00 per t-shirt or from Matalan.com if you wish to purchase it online.
