“ Brand: Barbour / Type: Quilted Jacket „
Last year I bought a quilted coat and really loved it , having never owned one before I didn't realise just how light and comfortable they are. So I started to look at short jacket versions and decided on the Liddesdale Quilted summer weight from Barbour.
I chose the navy version which has a contrasting cream lining and a corduroy collar.
It fastens with poppers and has two patch pockets and an internal zipped pocket.
It is made from polyester and is machine washable .
It comes in size 8 to size 20 and the length is between 24 and 27" depending on the size you buy.
It is quite fitted and Barbour advise this comes up quite small which I found to be true as I tried others in different range and they were a much bigger fit.
I love this jacket and it has been such a good buy , it is one of those items of clothing you buy where you wondered how you ever managed before.
It is smart casual and I have worn it to work, shopping , dog walking and it looks good with most things . I wouldn't wear it with something really dressy , but unlike some causal coats I never feel scruffy in this.
It is really lightweight and so easy to pop on and off. I love the cream lining as I have short arms and have turned the sleeves up and the cream is a great contrast to the navy.
I also like the fit as it is tailored from the shoulders through the body so has a lovely shape and isn't boxy like some quilted jackets.
It isn't waterproof ,but I have worn this in a heavy rain and the coat has withstood quite heavy showers, so I would say it is showerproof.
I have worn this on two holidays and it is so light that when the sun does come out it is easy to carry around.
Being quilted it doesn't crease and it has washed well so far.
The jacket comes in a range of colours as well as the navy I bought it comes in Black Cream Green Red Mink Fuchsia Plum and Turquoise all of which have a contrasting lining.
Not the cheapest quilted jacket , but I love the styling and that it is well made. I like to think about what my clothes and shoes cost per wear as I can justify most purchases if I wear them lots and have them for a number of years. I suspect this is now at less than a £1 per wear since buying it in June as I don't really know how I managed without it.
I bought mine on holiday in Whitby and It cost £84.95 , but Barbour can be bought on line or from lots of retailors including John Lewis.
I recommend that you try this one on before purchasing as the different ranges vary in fit and I had to size up with this jacket. Or buy online where delivery and returns are free.
5 stars from me as this is such a versatile good quality jacket that still looks as good as new 5 months and many wears on.
I have the ladies navy quilted jacket with light brown collar and trim. It has two pockets to the bottom front of the jacket (one has the Barbour name stitched in, again in light brown), it fastens with press-studs from top to bottom, and has press studs at the back so that if you want to give it a more fitted look you can (or if you're wearing a bigger jumper underneath you can let it out a bit!).
I bought this jacket after a friend recommended the brand. The Queen and the other royals wear a lot of Barbour! I bought the jacket from an independent shop stocking a wide range of Barbour jackets. I was particularly impressed with this as it is the original Barbour country wear range rather than the Barbour International range, which I think looks a bit cheaper. I got a size 6, which fitted me perfectly. I'm normally a size 8 but I wanted it to look quite fitted, in with the equestrian style that is quite popular at the moment. The only problem is the sleeves are quite long but they look just as good slightly turned up and I may get them professionally altered one day.
The jacket is very warm. I've been sat outside in spring and autumn and been much warmer than everyone else. I probably wouldn't recommend this jacket for the depths of winter as it is lightweight and quite short on the body. Barbour do other great waxed waterproof coats that would be better suited to heavy rain/snow etc.
