My youngest daughter is desperate to be grown up like her older sister although her older sister is actually only 5. Emily the youngest keeps trying to pinch Sophie's purse and handbag so before we went on holiday I decided to buy Emily her own purse firstly so she would stop pinching Sophie's but secondly because I needed a purse to put her holiday money in.
Emily is a keen fan of Peppa Pig and Fireman Sam so I set about finding a character purse which she would like and I came across this purse on play.com for about £5 delivered which I was happy with.
The purse is made of flexible plastic and had that funny smelling foam sheet inside when it came, I love the smell of that for some weird reason. The purse is a sort of oblong shape with round edges and is mainly pale blue in colour. On the purse there is a picture of the whole pig family chugging along in their bright red car which is a very recognisable scene from the TV show.
When I first showed my daughter her purse she squealed at me so I would say she was pleased with it ( she is still saying very few actual words) My daughter took her purse and immediately started trying to put numerous things in it none of which would actually fit!! In the end I had to give her a pencil case to play with instead as she was getting so annoyed that nothing would fit in the purser.
Whilst we were on holiday we used the purse and she loved having her own purse to take her pennies from of course only whilst she was supervised. The purse is really string and has withstood the heavy hands of a two year old pulling at the zip time and time again.
The purse holds a decent amount of money and was plenty big enough for our daughter, since we bought this we have also bought her a handbag so she loves putting her purse and numerous other items in her handbag so I would say she is certainly pleased with it.
My little girl is growing up so fast and although she is only 2 at the moment she has a major fascination with bags and purses and so recently I brought a little peppa pig hand bag and a small purse for her play pennies. She loves to use them in role play with her supermarket play set and has great fun.
The purse itself is a small circular zip purse on one side of it is a cute little picture of Peppa pig and the other side is just plain red. The detail is very good and it is printed on what looks like a glossy back ground so its really eye catching for little one. The stitching of the purse is all really well made and all round I was surprised with the quality of a child's purse.
The purse itself is really hard wearing my little girl hardly puts it down and is always opening and closing it over and over again. It is so easy for her to zip and unzip she has no problem doing it herself and it never gets caught which is great. There is a small tag on the zip which helps little fingers pull the zip open and closed a lot easier which I think is a great little addition.
It is only small and so does not hold a lot of coins but it is definitely adequate for a young girl just playing shop at home. Its really pretty and girly and my little girl loves it I would recommend it to anyone its long lasting and just a fun item for in the house or to take on shopping trips with mummy. I paid £2.99 from play for our purse and I am sure its got some use in it yet we have all ready had it 6 months and its been through the wars.
I bought this for my 6 year old niece Ellie at Easter as a little present to go with her peppa pig egg that i made for her as she's always talking about Peppa Pig and even has a dog named after her (just Peppa, not Peppa pig!) I paid £3.99 with free delivery from Amazon and it arrived quickly. I was initially quite dissapointed as i expected it to be a tad larger however it soon became apparent that to a 6 year old it would seem much bigger anyway so it was unlikely to be an issue.
The purse is quite basic with a picture on both sides of 3 pigs in a red car on a sunny day. I have no idea which one is Peppa but it's a nice little picture with the pigs looking very happy. Above the picture is pink font saying 'Peppa Pig' with a blue bubble around it. The colours are all nice and vibrant so it is obviously very eye catching aswell as been recognisable to children. The material of the purse, i would guess is plastic. It's soft and comfy to hold and has a nice glossy shine to it which Ellie liked straight away. This is definetly a unisex purse as it has both blue and pink on it.
The purse has got a zip that goes all the way around. The zip is plastic and easy to get a grip of so it is very simple for little ones to open and there is no worry of them getting buttons off of the purse. The purse is quite soft inside and has one compartment, this can hold 4-5 pound coins and maybe a few 5ps/1ps. I gave the purse to my niece with 3 pound coins in and they hogged most of the space so it's not ideal for the type of child who will want to store all of there pocket money in as obviously if it won't all fit it will likely end in a tantrum. I nearly had that problem with Ellie because she kept attempting to put loads of her coins in and they wouldn't fit, but i told her just before she was about to explode into a screaming fit that it was a special purse for going out and it was important to only take a few special coins, so now whenever i take her anywhere she takes 5 minutes selecting the coins she wants to bring, bless.
Cleaning this purse is easy. Anyone with kids will know they're forever spreading food/dirt etc about via sticky fingers, and whenever Ellie leaves marks on it i just get a baby wipe and clean the purse with that - it works really well so there is no worry of the purse getting stained. The purse isn't a novelty item like alot of people may think and Ellie has had hers since Easter and has used it pretty much everyday to take to school (she takes it even without any coins, she loves it!), obviously in another few months or so she might outgrow it but hopefully she'll get plenty more use out of it.
Overall for a young child (i'd say children under ten), this is a lovely little gift. Although quite expensive for a small coin purse, it is lasting well, is durable and is easy to clean. Children who love Peppa are guarenteed to enjoy this.
I brought my sister this a few weeks ago in Claires, it was in the sale basket and only cost £2.00. My sister is nearly 3 and I gave her one of my old handbags to carry about, she loves doing that so I knew she'd LOVE a purse to go in her bag.
It's very basic and has got a lovely picture that is printed on both sides of the purse. It's made of plastic but it's that shiny plastic that looks proper glossy like patent leather shoes, the purse is very small and only measures 9cm from end to end and 7cm from the top to the bottom. It's perfect for my little sister but kids older than her would probably think it was too small to handle.... and it would definately be no good for an adult even just for keeping your change in.
The zip goes along the top of the purse and has got quite a bit puller on it so my sister has never had trouble opening and closing it, it's smooth as well and the material doesn't pucker up along the side of the zip like I thought it would. The purse opens quite wide once you've undone the zip and my sister puts coins in there but I think an older child would be able to use it to put very small toys in the purse.
Any kids who like Peppa Pig will deffo love this purse. It's so bright and colourful that all kids would love it, my sister just puts hers empty into her bag and you'll see her taking it out sometimes just to have a look at it. She used it to play shop with the other day as well so even if you've got a child who is too young to need a purse to keep their money in, at least this will get used in games and things like that. It come in handy last week when my other sister went to the fair, she was taking about a tenners worth of £1.00 coins and couldn't find her purse but this was perfect.... and she wasn't even embarressed about it having Peppa Pig on it!
I think this purse is going to be easy to look after because you only have to wipe it, that's a good thing about it being plastic because it's not going to stain anyway and even if it does get a bit of a mark on it all you have to do is use a baby wipe and it'll be clean in seconds! The zip part is material so that will eventually show the marks up probably but even that's easy to wipe down if you notice it's starting to look a bit grotty!
If Claires haven't got these purses in now you can buy one from Amazon, it's £3.25 on there plus postage though and that works out a bit expensive for a purse that will probably only be used for playing games with and the occassional few pennies.
I bought this purse at our local Claires Accessories Discount Outlet. It was only £2.73 which was great value for what it is.
I think that anything with Peppa Pig on it is normally really over priced but didnt mind buying this.
Although it was the brightness of the purse that atracted me to it in the first place, I was some taken more by how easy it was to open and close it. It has a zip the full length of the top that is very easy to open with one hand so that the other hand can keep hold of the purse to prevent any scramble.
It is made of a wipeable material which is great when little sticky fingers get all over it.
The purse is abright sky blue with Peppa, her little brother George, Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig all in there little red car with the words We love our red car on it.
My daughter uses this to take her snack money to nursery and feels so grown up as she can now do this all by herself.
While shopping in London recently I noticed a street stall selling lots of Peppa Pig items, I was browsing for something for my baby granddaughter but when I saw this cute coin purse I decided to buy it for her 12 year old sister. Peppa Pig has somewhat of a cult status in her school so I knew she'd love it as it would stand out from the purses her friends carry their cash in.
The purse has a picture of Peppa, her little brother George and Mummy and Daddy Pig all sitting in their much loved little red car. The picture is repeated on both sides of the purse and it looks lovely and bright whichever angle you are looking at it from. The picture is true to the animation on the Peppa Pig series which is great, I recently bought my granddaughter a Lazy Town playset where none of the characters actually look anything like the originals!
The purse is closed with a zip which completely encloses the contents, there is no gap at either end and I find the zip very smooth to pull. The zipper pull itself has a large enough hole to thread through a keyring, which seems to be all the rage these days, and doing that could also help a younger clumsier child to operate the zip more easily.
The purse is made of a canvas/plastic material which I'm sure will be extremely durable and easily cope with the many drops and throws the purse is bound to encounter - not that my twelve year old granddaughter is likely to throw hers, but I also bought one for her baby sister's Christmas stocking and I just know she'll be chucking it all around the house by Christmas Lunch!
I think this purse would make a fantastic stocking filler for any Peppa Pig fan. It's made to be easy and smooth for smaller children and there is nothing to stop you giving it even to a very small child as the only choking hazard would be the zipper pull, but this is very securely attached to the purse so wouldn't easily come unattached. The inside of the purse is one coin section so smaller children would be able to put a little toy in there or perhaps use it to hold their dummy.
I paid £2.99 in London for this purse, but they have them on Amazon for £4.75 which I still think is fair value as it's such a lovely purse and of very good quality indeed.
I brought this for my daughter's birthday this year as she really likes Peppa Pig but has grown out of the actual toys. I brought it with some other bags and bits so she can use them when she goes swimming etc.
Mine came from Amazon and it was really reasonable at just £3.74 althouigh there is £1.50 shipping to be added to this. As I brought other things as well it didn't seem so bad.
The purse is lovely and a nice size at Size 90 x 40 x 70mm which means that little hands are able to open it and retrieve coins without dropping everything else and getting in a pickle.
The zip on the top is very smooth and it has always opened everytime I have tried it and the space inside is very good for not only coins but any little bits and pieces they want to bring with them.
The design on the front shows Peppa with her family riding in their car which is one of my daughter's favourite episodes so she was happy as she could relate it to that as well.
This is a lovely little purse for a Peppa Pig fan and would make a great stocking filler or birthday present.
