A good all rounder that targets a medley of different skin concerns for your eye area.

One of the first signs of aging appears around the eyes. Like the lips they have no oil glands of their own and they're probably one of our most expressive features, so it's probably one of the first anti-aging products we all buy for an area that we tend to target first. Thus because of this I am willing to pay more for eye products and although I have friends who scoff and presume that companies simply take advantage of our need for an effective eye product, you tend to find in reality that the eye area needs different research and treatment to the rest of the skin because it's thinner and has no oil glands. I would therefore recommend that even if you're on a budget please buy a separate eye cream formula (even if it's a budget make ) because many anti-aging face creams contain ingredients that shouldn't be used around the eye area.

*Who is this for ? *

Anyone concerned with the visible signs of aging around the eye area ( I would say 25+ ) and the ingredients in this particular eye product also target under-eye dark shadows too. The texture itself is light and if it feels heavy or takes a while to sink you've used too much !! I would say it's between a gel and a cream formula, so people who can't use certain heavy eye products may want to try this without fear of exacerbating under-eye puffiness for example.

      *How to use*

Take a small amount of eye rescue ( please use a spatula, don't go plonking your fingers into the mixture as the oils on your finger's skin can upset the original formula ) and pat around the eye area. The skin here is very thin so please don't rub or drag your skin !! It's a light texture so it won't need to much patting ot tapping, if it takes longer than you thought you're using too much. It's quite a pricey product so it may encourage everyone to use sparingly anyway !!

      *Why this works *

Well, the anti-aging product that jumps out at you from the ingredients list is Q10. I love Q10 and will try a lot of products on the basis of it containing Q10 alone !! Q10 is a natural ingredient in our body but after the age of approximately 30, it begins to deplete resulting in a lesser ability to produce collagen and other important skin molecules that are needed to keep our skin soft and supple. It's also thought that once our Q10 starts to deplete, we are more susceptible to damage from free-radicals. Thus by adding certain ingredients to skin care products they can help boost what your skin does naturally, but just does so less effectively as we age.
It also contains the likes of Citrus Bioflavonoids ( which are powerful anti-oxidants and skin brighteners with anti-inflammatory properties, ) Kojic Acid ( which is used in the likes of pigmentation treatments because it reduces the appearance of darkened areas on the skin. It's also thought to have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, ) Extracts Of Chamomile, Green Tea, Horse Chestnut ( which are used for their anti-inflammatory, soothing and anti-oxidant properties, ) and Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate ( i.e a form of Vitamin C which is more stable than your average Vitamin C ingredient. It has the usual Vitamin C qualities though, acting as an anti-oxidant whilst it brightens. However this version of Vitamin C is not as effective at boosting skin cell renewal as normal Vitamin C. )
