I used to be a sun worshipper but after reading an article a few years ago that said that not only is the sun the main way to get skin cancer, but that repeated exposure to it is the main cause of ageing, i change to using fake tan instead. Also the eyes are apparently the first part of your body to show ageing as the skin around them is so thin. This ended up with me changing my daily skincare routine to include an spf as i, like most women will do all i can to stop myself looking old before my time! Unnbelievably though, this eye cream and one from Superdrugs own brand range, are the only eye creams i have been able to find with an spf in them. Which just goes to prove that all the more expensive creams aren't going to be of much benefit to you in preventing ageing in the long term. Anyway...i got this for the bargin price of about £3 from Avon. It contains an spf of 15, which is good, but not as high as i would like. I was ready to buy it the second i saw an spf, but i was also drawn to the fact that it was claiming to get rid of dark circles. Its a little 15ml squeezable tube which is a great little size for keeping in a make up bag and it comes out really easily. Its a white cream so you can make sure your whole eye is covered and you havent missed any parts, but it quickly dries in clear. You only need to use a small amount so it lasts for ages. I bought the tube i have just now in September and its now March, and i still have about one fifth of a tube left. This is with me using it nearly every day and sometimes twice a day so it really is a bargin. Unfortunately though, as much as i have been using it i have noticed no improvement in the dark circles under my eyes. They arent very bad either as a bit of concelar covers them up but still, i think they just put that claim in to get more people to buy it. Also, there isnt much else this cream does. Its quite light feeling on the skin but no brightning or tingling effects like Garnier and the other big brands claim to give. It does mouisturise though and i normally put make up on on top of it and it give a good base without being greasy. I suppose for the price though, i shouldnt expect too much as it has a much better chance of preventing ageing than any other creams on the market right now.
After being told for the umpteenth time that I hadn't got enough sleep or that I had panda eyes I decided that I needed to try an eye cream. Now, I wasn't going to splash out £10+ for a product that I didn't know would work or not so I started browsing online to see if I culd bag a bargain. Well in my search I stumbled across an avon book and noticed that there Liiv range was all half price, and they done an eye cream bonus. With an SPF - double bonus and it was only £1.75. So I bit the bullet and bought it. When I got it I used it straight away. Its a pretty light weight moisturiser, not to greasy and soaks in really well. Wasns't to sure where to apply it as the instructions aren't that clear so I ended up putting it under my eyes and on the eye lids. I didn't notice any difference but since I had the product I was adamant that I was going to use it up. So after a few weeks it ran out and I never replenished it. Then people started commenting on my bags again? It seems that the cream did make a difference, just that I hadn't noticed it. Typical eh? So I'm using it again, and will stock up when its on offer. Its not brilliant but for £1.75 i think its acceptable. Maybe good for people who find normal moisturisers too heavy for the sensitive eye area.
i thought this product was so-so, but then again what did I expect for 1.50? It helped to moisturise the fine skin under my eyes. However after three weeks of continual use morning and night, I could see no visible reduction of my dark circles or bags. Also did nothing for puffy eyes. I got mine for 1.50 as part of a special offer, it normally sells for around the 3 pound mark. My other major gripe would be the words SPF. Like most other SPF products in order to have all day long protection you would need to reapply consistenly throughout the day, and who has time for that? Hence the wording is misleading. I would only recommend this product if you have issues with dry skin under the eye area, the best way to apply is to dab on gently with the ring finger as this has the lightest touch. I would not buy this product again, there are better eye creams within the Avon range.
Out of all of my features I have to say my eye's are probably my favourite. I have really large blue eye's, one of those wonderful things I have inherited from my mother, large brightly coloured eye's with a thick fan of black lashes, this is something I have passed onto my children....my husbands though, does refer to use as the "bog eyed buggars" ...anyway! The other thing I seem to have inherited is the rather unsightly black rings and bags that go under the lovely eye's, not really something that sets them of to perfection! After perusing my Avon book a few weeks ago I came across one of there Botanicals products on offer, this being the subject of my review. The products full name is - "Liiv Botanicals, vitalising cream with SPF 15" This product is marketed as being formulated with plant essence technology , with them extracting all the useful active plant extracts, thus meaning your skin has a concoction of rejuvenating natural goodness...in cream form, I would like to say this is the specific reason I bought it, but it was on offer! The tube itself is a lot smaller than I was expecting, I was expecting a tube around the size of a children's toothpaste, facing me is a tube that holds around 10ml of cream, ok I'm surprised but if it works this is one thing I can get over! The instructions for application are easy enough, squeeze a tiny blob of cream from the tube and gently dot around the delicate area of the eye, this is also suitable to be used on the lid itself, some cream are too harsh to be used on this area, but this seems to have an instant smoothing effect. When you take the screw lid off you are faced with a slightly slanted end, very similar to a lip gloss tube, this means that if you want you can simply dot the cream straight from the tube around the eye area, I do however use my finger, I find this spreads the product much more effectively. The cream states, and yes this is about one of the very few products I have purchased from Avon that actually comes with instructions, that this cream will aid in the smoothing of bags and puffiness, lightens up the dark area beneath the eye and tightens and firms the skin in the crow feet area. This claims are made with the information that these results will be visible starting from two weeks after use. Does it work? Well my dark patches do seem a little lighter, though not completely gone, though for the £2.00 I paid for the cream I was dubious it would do as much as it has! The skin around my eye is definitely smoother and healthier looking, as for the crows feet they don't seem to have improved at all, though I am only 31 I was a smoker for a fair few years, so this is the area that it usually affects first. As mentioned earlier this is an Avon product, for more information or to purchase visit - www.avon.co.uk Thanks for reading x
