      good all round plaque remover

I have had my Braun Oral B D9 Solo Plaque Remover now for about seven years - yes, it is a long time, but that is how long this has lasted me. Obviously I have had to change the heads a lot of times since I bought it but it is still going strong.

I paid around £14 for it, but it was a long time ago, so it may have been a little bit less. It is old fashioned looking now and possibly a bit bulky looking compared to the newer more streamlined, sleeker models you can buy now, but to be honest, if it does the job, that is all I am interested in. It's a 'clean' looking brush in bright white and turquoise. It has stood on my window sill now for these past seven years and it is used about twice a week and the sun has made the white fade to a pale creamy yellow colour. It has a neat charger and you have to charge it up for sixteen hours before you want to use it. The charge will last a long time though.

It is easy to manipulate and handle and use, considering it is such an old design. It has a soft rubbery on / off button and a two minute buzzer type warning which tells you that you've been using it for the two minutes. I remember thinking seven years ago that this device was rather sophisticated - how what a long way we have come with technology.

I plug it into my bathroom shaver socket to charge it and often take it away with me if we go on family holidays as I miss the clean feeling it gives to my teeth if I haven't used it for a while.

The bristles work well and rotate expertly and leave my teeth feeling like I have just stepped out of the dental hygienist's chair. Perfect! It really does remove all the plaque much better than a manual toothbrish and none of theis wrist action is needed either, as the heads rotate round and do all the hard work for you. My dentist told me years ago what an improvement he saw in thee health of both my teeth and gums after I had been using this for a while. I was recommnded it by him as I was suffering from the first stages of gum disease - gingivitis and I had to have a series of nasty injections in my mouth and gums to stop the disease from spreading. My breath smelled foul and it was badly affecting my love life and this was a Godsend to me.

Greatly recommended though I don't know if this particular model is still for sale.

        A great value basic toothbrush

I have always, for as long as I can remember, relied on an electric toothbrush for my oral hygiene and for the foreseeable future I will continue to stick with the Oral B brand as it has provided me with years of satisfaction through use and a level of cleaning I am more than happy with.

This model is my current model of choice. Its one of the low budget range priced at around £7.99 most places so must be judged on that basis. It comes with a built in rechargeable battery, charging stand and extra head.

The D9 runs at 7,600 rotations per minute which or course doesn't rival the more expensive models but I had found that it does provide an excellent clean. I have a big thing about making sure teeth are clean so I would pick the slightest fault with this model if I felt it was cheap, nasty and ineffective but in fact its quite the opposite and I find this is a superb device. My mouth feels fresh after use and my teeth are clean and healthy. I have seen no deterioration in going from the expensive ranges to the cheaper ones.

The one downside as with all electric toothbrush is the charge time. An overnight charge will last only ten minutes or so you need to pretty much have this on a constant charge.

The heads are inexpensive and openly available with a good duration lasting around a month per head so that's another plus point.

All in all there isn't a great deal you can say about this device. It's a basic as a basic electric toothbrush can get but for the price and for any price it does a great job, provides the service it promises and leaves the mouth clean and fresh!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        cheap and cheerful

Well the Oral B d9, what to say?
well, it's their cheapest rechargable oscillating brush from their collection. Which will give you an idea of its ability.
Electric toothbrushes have been proven to remove more plaque than manual toothbrushes, so the D9 is a good starting place if you've never tried an electric brush before. Why is that? Well, mostly because it's cheap! That way if you don't like the sensation you haven't wasted too much money!
        The main features are:
        * 7,600 brushhead oscillations per minute
        * 16 hour charge gives approximately 20 minutes use
        * Removes plaque build-up and stains.
        * Includes 1 brushhead

The other great thing about an oral b brush is that the replacement heads are easy to get hold of, and usually you can find special offers.Plus the head is easy to keep clean compared to the sonicare brushes. Also, as its rechargable you don't waste extra money on batteries.
Negatives are the charge doesn't last very long, plus if you don't keep the head clean(inside) it is liable to rust. Plus you don't get extra features such as a timer or pressure sensor.
