I love body moisturisers and I have more than I could ever need but that doesn't stop me purchasing more of them! Last summer, I bought the summery Lemon Body Moisturiser by Dr. Hauschka. About the product The product promises to moisturise the skin with plenty of natural ingredients, leaving it feeling silky soft and smooth. It contains both Olive oil and Jojoba Oil to nourish and strengthen the skin, leaving it stronger and in a better condition. The body moisturiser claims to have a light and non greasy formula that is quickly absorbed. The product also promises to tone and bright the skin and it comes with a lemon fresh aroma which should also lift and brighten the senses. The product can also be used as an after sun product. Packaging and Price The product comes contained within a clear bottle through which you can see the creamy product. It has a label giving some extra information about the product and a gold dispenser on which you push down on in order to release the product. The packaging looks classy and expensive. The lotion, as ever with this brand, is quite costly and it will cost you around £24 for 145 ml of the product. It can be bought from large department stores such as Boots and also from a range of online websites. My experience The product is easy to dispense and each pump dispenses a good amount of the moisturiser. It is creamy in colour and has a light consistency which is almost like that of a lotion. You can smell the product as soon as it is dispensed and it has such a sunny fragrance which makes it perfect for summer. It is just like fresh lemons, invigorating and refreshing, but in no way too strong or overpowering. The lotion feels light on the skin and it is very quickly absorbed with minimal rubbing. It does instantly make my skin feel more comfortable and removes all feelings of tightness and dryness. As it is so light and quickly absorbed, I do find myself applying more than I would with other moisturisers which is not a good thing when you consider the price. Despite the citrus smell, it is gentle on my skin and hasn't caused me any irritations. The moisturiser makes my skin feel really silky smooth and soft but it isn't strong enough to tackle tricky dry spots such as my knees and elbows. It also didn't feel hydrating enough to be used as an after sun product. Used as a general daily moisturiser though, it does work well and leaves my skin softer and looking healthier. The results just about last the whole day you do need to reapply in the evenings as some of the dryness comes back. The lemon fragrance lingers on the skin for a while after use. Conclusion All in all, this is a nice moisturiser for those whose skin isn't too thirsty and dry. It has a lovely lemon fragrance and it is both light and quickly absorbed. It doesn't tackle tricky dry spots but it leaves most of my body feeling soft and smooth. I would recommend this as a light summer moisturiser but not for those with drier skins.
I've recently treated myself to the Dr. Hauschka Lemon body moisturiser and the Lemon body wash. I've previously had both the Almond and the Quince body moisturisers and I loved them both. I've used quite a few of the Dr. Hauschka products now, and I'm becoming a big fan of the range. I first tried Dr. Hauschka products in Austria earlier this year. Dr. Hauschka is a German brand and so it is also very popular in Austria. The range is not tested on animals and is made from all natural ingredients. It's a very expensive skin care range, and it doesn't seem to be as readily available here in the UK as I found it to be in Austria. I purchased the Lemon body moisturiser from John Lewis and it was £22.95. The Lemon body moisturiser comes in a 145ml bottle, whats all that about, why not a 150ml bottle! The Lemon body moisturiser comes beautifully packaged in a glass bottle, with a gold coloured pump dispenser on the top. The bottle looks very sleek and classy and looks lovely out on display either on your dressing table or on your bathroom shelf. Now unfortunately I'm a bit clumsy and so glass bottles and me don't really mix, as I've dropped and smashed two glass cosmetics bottles recently. So although the glass bottle does look very sleek and classy and beautiful out on display, and it definitely looks like a premium expensive body moisturiser (which it is!), I have to say that I think that I'd prefer it if it came in a plastic bottle as it does give me the heebie jeebies every time I use it in case I break it as it was so expensive! I do really like the pump dispenser aspect on the bottle, this ensures that I don't get the bottle covered in sticky fingerprints as just a gentle depress on the top of the pump will dispense the moisturiser out of the bottle, this also means that there's probably less chance that I'm going to drop and break this as I don't actually have to pick it up to use it! The pump dispenser will turn and 'lock' again if you wanted to take the bottle away on holiday. I'm probably best not doing this though! The scent of this body moisturiser is absolutely divine, you can smell the delicious sweet and zesty lemons in this instantly, although it's quite a sweet lemon scent it's not too sweet that it's overpowering or sickly. The gorgeous lemony fragrance lingers on my skin for most of the day after I've applied this body moisturiser, but it only lingers subtley on my skin, it doesn't take over and clash with any other body products that I've used. Again it will linger on my skin overnight if I've applied it before bed and I find that I can still smell it in the morning, and that my sheets will have a very subtle scent of lemons too. I do prefer to use this in the morning though as I find that it's quite an uplifting and invigorating fragrance, and so it's the perfect fragrance to start the day off with. It's fresh and tangy, as well as sweet and zesty, and it's actually fairly unisex I would say. The body moisturiser itself has the consistency of a very thick body milk, and it is very easily and quickly absorbed into my skin. This just seems to glide easily over my skin and it melts in completely, it leaves my skin feeling lovely and smooth, and soft and silky to the touch, and my skin stays lovely and soft all day after using this. This doesn't feel sticky or greasy at all, and it doesn't leave behind any sticky, greasy or oily residue at all, all of the moisturiser is absorbed completely into my skin. I find that I don't need to use much of this body moisturiser at all as a little really does go a long way. This feels like a very luxurious and intensely moisturising lotion and I would imagine that it would also be perfect for winter parched skin. It isn't too rich for summer time use though as I've been using it happily so far. In fact I would probably say that the lemon fragrance is actually more suited to summer than winter. This is suitable for all skin types; oily, normal, dry, sensitive and mature. My skin is more or less normal, and maybe just ever so slightly on the dry side, and this is perfect for my skin. This is a really luxurious body moisturiser, and I really love it. It's definitely something that I would repurchase as a treat for myself, or as a gift for someone - I say as a treat as it is very expensive at £22.95 for just 145ml of product. I'm slightly hesitant to give it 5 stars due to the high price, I'd probably give 4.5 if I could, as I'd knock a half a star off for the high price.
WHAT IS IT? A lemon daily body moisturiser with added jojoba, olive and lemongrass from Dr Hauschka. THE PACKAGING I love the Dr Hauschka packaging as it's basic but remains stylish and classically designed to look attractive while on display. The gold pump doesn't look at all tacky as can happen sometimes with cheaper cosmetics, the golden paint has not rubbed off after over a month of daily use and it still shines as it did when I bought the bottle. HOW DO YOU USE IT? After bathing or showering apply to your body with massaging strokes, a little goes a long way so you should dispense small amounts at a time and spread smoothly across your skin. IS IT ANY GOOD? This body moisturiser smells amazing, it has a rich lemon smell that fills the room as soon as I pump some moisturiser out of the bottle and into my hand. The lemon smells very creamy and the hints of other scents helps it to smell more like a premium skin care product and less like washing up liquid! The scent doesn't last for long on my skin after application and that's a pity as it's such a fresh and refreshing smell. It's moisturising enough for normal skin types but not the very best someone with dry skin could use. I am eight months pregnant and am suffering from very dry skin on some areas of my body, this isn't all the time and when this dry skin flairs up I have to switch to a more intensive body moisturiser to deal with it. When my skin is normal it moisturises deeply and effectively leaving me with softer skin that is supple and tight. After application there is a definite tightening of my skin, this is best felt on my thighs and upper arms with a more minor effect on other areas. The light cream absorbs almost instantly and is not greasy at all, I can dress immediately after application and my skin doesn't feel sticky or over processed afterwards. It spreads easily across my skin and requires only a light massaging action to apply, I use a little more on my elbows and knees as these areas are slightly problematic and need more TLC than other areas of my body. I don't think it's very effective on these areas though and I usually finish off with a layer of butter from The Body Shop for extra moisturising help. ANYTHING ELSE? A 145ml bottle of Dr Hauschka Lemon Body Moisturiser costs £23 and I agree that is expensive compared to other skin care products designed for the body. You don't need to use a lot but this bottle will still only last for less than a month, and that makes it an expensive addition to your bathing and moisturising time. It is highly effective though so worth the price in my opinion, as I have already stated its suitable mainly for people with a normal skin type so I wouldn't recommend you paying this money if you need something richer. 4 Dooyoo Stars.
