The set of four figures retails for around £15 and is widely available in most toy shops and online from places such as Amazon, eBay etc. Lauren has loved Sylvanians since I gave her set of pig triplets at the age of three and I have noticed that the range often gets discounted during the summer months so this is when I tend to stock up ready. I picked these up from Amazon at a cost of £7.85 which I think made them quite a good purchase.
The pandas come in a small blue and white box which has a large clear panel to the front so you can see exactly what you are getting for your money. One of Laurens favourite aspect about the set is that to the back of the box is a little explanation story about each member of the family along with their name, she always tried to remember their names but I can guarantee within a couple of hours of me throwing the box away, she has made her own up. One of the reasons why I like this element so much is reading is one thing Lauren doesnt enjoy doing therefore anything that gets her wanting to read, gets a tick in my book.
The name of the family is the Bamboo family, it consists of four figures, mother Alexandra, father Bertram, brother Cane and sister Clarice, each member of the family is dressed in cute little outfit which can be removed completely and interchanged with other Sylvanian Family. The outfits are a little old fashioned in style, for example the mother is wearing a pink and white lace pinafore however I think this adds to their cuteness. The interchanging of outfits is another one of Laurens favourite things, she loves to change their outfits and I feel it helps develop her fine motor skills, I remember when she was younger, she couldn't manage this on her own yet with lots of practise, she has now mastered this perfectly.
From looking at the animals, there is no doubt what they are mean to be, the have white faces with black circles around their eyes, black ears, eyes and legs. The mother and father measure around 8cm tall, and the brother and sister around 2cm shorter. All the animals have moveable arms and legs which means that can be put in different poses such as sitting, waving, pushing the pushchairs or driving the car. When Lauren plays with these, her imagination goes into overdrive, I love to watch her relive real-life situations, just the other day she her Sylvanians were having an Easter Egg hunt.
I would definitely recommend this set and it gets 5 out of 5 stars from me.
WHAT IS IT?
A family of pandas from Sylvanian Families. In the set you will receive four figures, they are two adults and two children to create a nuclear family. There are panda babies available for purchase separately and I would say to buy some of these because they are a very unusual family and look very attractive on display with the other families in my daughters collection of figures.
The pandas look like a traditional image you have of a panda with white faces, black ears and black patches around each eye. Their arms and legs are black and the bodies are white. They are dressed in traditional clothing but I think it would have been nice if they had been wearing Chinese clothes. The facial features are not very strong because of the faces being pure white apart from the patches around their eyes but they look very friendly.
WHAT I THINK
I like this family of pandas very much because they are so different to the other families my daughter has got. The clothing all suits the pandas but I think the fathers bow tie is strange looking and I would like him to have a plain one instead of the tartan. All of these outfits fit the other Sylvanian families and that is good because my daughter likes to mix and match the outfits.
My daughter uses these in her Sylvanian Families school house because they look very studious compared to other families. They get dirty because of the faces being pure white and I do not know how I am going to clean them when they get very marked. All of the pandas stand up straight and that surprised me because the feet on the children are very small and narrow. They are very good quality and have not lost any fur or gone shiny even though they are played with a lot.
