I visited my niece recently and she was playing with her dolls house so, of course, I just had to join in! I remember the doll's house that my dad made for me when I was a little girl complete with opening leaded windows and I have always had a soft spot for doll's houses ever since.
My niece has the Marlborough Dolls House which is a John Crane Pintoy product and it really is a lovely little house - I did write a review about it some time ago.
Pintoy also make a set of furniture for each room in the house - kitchen, lounge, bathroom, bedroom and nursery. They are all 1:12 scale which will fit the Marlborough Doll's House or any other doll's house of a similar size.
When I was playing with my niece I noticed that she had the bathroom set (amongst others) and it is such good quality and so cute I have to tell you about it!
I had to take a look on the Internet to find the current price as I have no idea how much this sort of thing costs these days! The best price that I found was from Treasure Island Toys at £12.99 but I saw prices ranging up to about £15 so I would suggest that you shop around if you are interested in buying this one!
The bathroom set consists of the following items:
A bath with centre taps
A shower unit with a curtain
A toilet with lifting lid
A sink unit with mirror above
A floor standing towel rail
The Pintoy furniture is made to be played with and would not suit a collector who wanted something more traditionally realistic for display purposes. My niece certainly enjoys playing with hers! She loves to sit her little doll in the bath and on the toilet pretending to get her ready to go out.
All the items of furniture are very well made from replenishable Rubber wood and there are no sharp edges to catch little fingers and the paint is obviously safe and lead free! The smaller toys are all made with the same attention to detail and quality as any of the larger John Crane Pintoy products.
My niece has had this set for some time now and it gets played with a lot but it is still in excellent condition and is showing no real signs of wear.
It is worth mentioning that the furniture is only recommended for children aged 3 years old and above as by its very nature the individual pieces are small and as such could present a choking hazard to a younger child.
In conclusion I would say that this is another great set of furniture from John Crane Pintoy. It looks good, it is well made to withstand lots of play, it's environmentally friendly and it isn't too expensive.
It is definitely worth remembering when you are looking to buy a present for a little girl or indeed a little boy who doesn't have a hang up about this sort of thing!!
A beautifully detailed bathroom suite with bath and shower, washbasin and lavatory.
