As you are no doubt aware, I am Betty Boop mad and my collection has rapidly grown since my first purchase several years ago. The figurine I am reviewing today is the first one I purchased from Danbury Mint and I pondered for several weeks before taking the plunge after seeing this advertised in the back of a copy of What's On TV. Betty Sings The Blues is a gorgeous hand painted figurine and is sculptured by Syd Hap and is exclusive to Danbury Mint. There is so much detail on this figurine, so it's rather difficult to know where to start. The figurine is 15 inches high and displays Betty sitting on a beautifully calved wooden stool, which is neatly hidden underneath her beautiful burgundy satin flowing dress. Betty's right leg is outstretched to display her black high-heeled ankle strap shoes and her left leg rests underneath her dress on the lower section of the stool. The stool has a cute furry animal print cushion for Betty to rest her rear end. Betty's flowing dress has an extremely revealing split, which shows her sexy white and black-laced garter adorned with a red heart decoration, which she wears on her left thigh. Her adjustable arms have been painted glossy black from her fingertips to above her elbows to resemble her long sexy gloves. Betty wears three rows of various lengths of white pearls, with a sparkling glass stone attached to the longest. Both of her wrists display three pearl and diamante bracelets and she wears a pair of matching dangly earrings. This is the only Danbury Mint figurine that I own where her head can be manoeuvred, so you can pose her perfectly in front of her microphone in readiness for her to sing the blues. Other than the earrings, each of the pieces of jewellery were individually packed where I have to carefully place them on my figurine. There was a separate package where I discovered a life-like microphone, which carefully rests in between the fingers of Betty's right hand. Her halter neck style dress criss-crosses across Betty's back and there is a beautiful diamond shaped diamante decoration where the straps cross. The attention to detail is first class as a gold ring has been carefully painted on the wedding finger of Betty's left hand. To complete her stunning look, Betty displays a pretty white corsage with two leaves in her glossy black hair. Unfortunately, this figurine displays a rather serious designer fault as Betty will not sit securely on her wooden stool and I learned the hard way as she fell off her stool and landed on the glass shelf in my display cabinet. Fortunately, the glass did not smash, which would have resulted in a number of damaged figurines, a subsequent hefty insurance claim and me suffering heart failure! Due to her rather clumsy tumble, two of the gorgeous peaks on Betty's head shattered and are now superglue repairs! I'm not best pleased and as a safety precaution, Betty is now cable tied to her stool by her right thigh and left ankle and I place her at the very back of my cabinet, resting on the rear glass panel. Whilst Betty should be displayed as in the above photograph, unfortunately, I cannot show the stool due to the fact that I have had to wrap Betty's dress over it for the purpose of the cable ties. Unfortunately, Danbury Mint clearly did not put any thought into the fact that an extremely heavy figurine could not sit safely and securely on an extremely lightweight wooden stool, particularly when only one of her feet rests on the ground! Nevertheless, this is still a beautiful figurine, but one of the more expensive Danbury Mint collectables at £126 plus £6 postage and packing. You can order Betty Boop Sings The Blues via the Danbury Mint UK website or by telephoning their customer services. You are given the option to pay three interest-free monthly payments of £42 plus £1.50 postage and handling. Unfortunately, I cannot award this figurine 5 out of 5 dooyoo stars due to its' serious designer fault, which has now devalued my figurine. Consequently, it receives 4 out of 5 dooyoo stars from me. I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.
