A fantastic figurine of Betty Boop.

For Valentines Day this year I received a few presents and the main one was this delightful Betty Boop that I had been eyeing up for a number of months. Over the past few years I have lost a few stone and I am quite proud of my achievement. I have a few stone to go but I have done well so far and managed to keep it off with ease. I am hoping to lose some more weight in the future so I am often weighing myself to check how things are going and to ensure that I am staying on track after sometimes having a blow out with my husband. This figurine is 12 inches high and weighs around 2.5 pounds. My figurine came provided in a large cardboard box with a polystyrene insert that has been carved to the shape of this particular Betty Boop. The vast majority of my figurines have come like this and I have a huge amount of these boxes stored in my hall cupboard now and I am starting to run out of storage space! This figurine is made of resin, like most if not all of my figurines and Betty is standing on a set of weighing scales. Betty is standing with her backside poking out and her waist is very prominent on this figurine as it is with the vast majority of Betty Boop figurines that I own. Betty's eyes are facing downwards as if she is looking at her current weight but I am not sure how she can see it because while the scales are just above the middle their is nothing to actually say how much she weighs although there are small markers to indicate that these most definitely are scales (although its quite obvious from the shape really!). I'm sure Betty doesn't really need to worry about her weight as she is very thin even compared to the weighing scales that she is standing on! Betty is styled beautifully, as always and she is wearing a red, white & yellow leotard than makes me think of a swimming costume really. This is a very high waisted leotard and shows off Betty's legs which are adorned with light pink leg warmers. Betty has lots of skin on display here (as ever!) but looks fantastic (also as ever!). Betty is wearing earrings (as she usually is) and her hairstyle is her signature black curls around her head this is the same for all Betty figurines. The only thing I find a little weird about this figurine is the candy cane that Betty is holding. I have no idea why you would be holding a candy cane while you are standing on weighing scales, well why would you hold anything for that matter? When I am weighing myself I never have anything on or hold anything! This figurine is a little different to some of the previous ones I have. The base is a little larger and it has some pads on the bottom which are to prevent it sliding around. This is ideal for my wooden shelf on the top of my display unit as it prevents this moving around. I can see from looking at another review that this retails at around £50.00 but mine was a gift so I am not sure of the exact price paid. £50.00 is a reasonable price for this figurine and the ones that I have purchased myself which are a similar height have been a similar price to this.

A gorgeous collectable from the new Betty Boop range

Please note that Dooyoo requested that I submit my product suggestion in the toy category, but this item is a fragile collectable as opposed to a toy. Santa was extremely kind to me this year and brought me a few gorgeous Betty Boop figurines to join the rest of my huge Betty Boop family. Two of the figurines were very apt for Christmas time when we all tend to over indulge as one is Betty jogging whereas the one I am about to review is named Betty Boop on Scales. The 30 cm resin figurine weighs just under a kilogram and is part of the November/December 2011 collection. The manufacturers, namely The Hearst Holdings Inc who are the owners of the Betty Boop trademark have created a stunning collection of figurines as the quality of them is simply first class. I tend to carefully scrutinise all of my new collectables and on some occasions the paint seems to have been applied a little carelessly, but I can find absolutely no faults with any of the new range of collectables. Betty stands in a rather provocative pose with her rear end stuck up in the air and her torso leaning forwards as she positions her head slightly forward to read the dial on the weighing scales. Her feet are firmly fixed to the large scales, which displays a white circular dial with tiny markings. Whilst the dial is pointing towards a particular marking there is no indication of Betty's weight, but I presume her to be rather light considering her curvy and slender body. Betty wears a tightly fitting red, yellow and white striped leotard and similar to that in every other figurine that I own, it clearly displays her rather ample chest. The leotard is cut highly at Betty's legs so that her perfectly toned thighs are well displayed. Betty is a lady that adores showing off her bare flesh and this outfit most definitely achieves this! She wears a pair of pale pink leg warmers, which have been created to resemble material as there are tiny creases to give the illusion that they are loose fitting on her legs. In her right hand is a red and white striped candy cane, but I'm surprised she's clutching this so tightly, as obviously the scales will also take its weight into account. On the rare occasion that I step onto my scales I will remove everything on my body including my wedding ring as every little helps! Betty wears a large pair of golden coloured hoop earrings, which are perched on both sides of her head as we are never able to see her ears. Her black glossy curls are illustrated with eight curvy spikes running along the top of her head and a further eight curves running around her hairline. Betty's lips are normally puckered, but she appears to be smiling in this figurine and no wonder, as she's probably extremely happy with her weight! Her huge green eyes look down towards the scales and are framed with her long stunning black eyelashes. Cleaning this figurine is a task that I have yet to undertake, but it will be relatively easy with a cloth and a small clean paintbrush to access any hard to reach areas. Located on the underside of the figurine is the manufacturer's logo to guarantee the figurine's authenticity. There are also 5 small circular felt pads to prevent the figurine from moving when on display. Betty Boop on Scales can be purchased on Amazon and at the time of writing she is listed at £50 inclusive of postage and packing. This figurine is absolutely adorable and for that reason she receives 5 stars together with my recommendation. I hope you found my review useful and thank you for reading.
